About Me

So many fish to fry.... so little time. I am a warrior for consumer rights, I tell it like it is, I try to keep my reviews short, but packed with information and don't go off on tangents, I do give helpful votes when coming to this site to look something up and...I was the first person to review SiteJabber.com... I got an email from the guy who runs it and he asked me if I would do an interview about finding/criticizing businesses online... and! I got interviewed by the local new station based

How I Can Help

I have owned 3 successful businesses and am making it through the economic downturn pretty well, if you have ANY cash laying around, invest in in Apple stock (mine had over quadrupled since I bought it 10 years ago) I know a lot about how to purchase a purebred cat from out of the state you live in (and who to stay away from!) and I am an expert on travel to France.

Interests

Am a crazy cat lady. Love to read, cook, be informed but not be a jerk about it, LAUGH!!!!

Easily the WORST website on the planet... enough time wasted...

  • Consumercomplaintagency.org

I needed to escalate a complaint about a local business...(it is SO corrupt that they wouldn't even acknowledge my BBB complaint) so I was searching on the net for another, perhaps more powerful way to complain about this inept business... and I stumbled upon this site (er... rather, it popped up in my search engine) and it looked official, so I filled out the forms it gave me and went to the last button... and they wanted a credit card payment of $25.00. So...

I thought that seemed a bit shady, since it did not mention anything about a fee upfront (and by this point, I was several pages deep into it) and they had a tab that said "contact us" so I did to ask why there was a fee.

Hmmmm... no "live chat" available, and their office was closed (during normal office hours that THEY stated on their website). There was this other tab that said "Submit a question", so I told them that I was wondering about the $25 fee, and how I had tried to contact them during normal operating hours and I did not wish to pay the fee until I got some kind of reasonable explanation why they charge $25 to submit a complaint...

I did submit my question and saved the 4 or 5 pages or info I had already given them. I get an immediate box that said "You will be receiving a response from us within 5 business days". That seemed like a long time, but whatever... I moved on.

20 days later: NO RESPONSE! I even wrote back to them on day 6 asking if they were reviewing my question, and I was assured that they were!

Yeah. I think this Consumers Complaint Agency is in the business of taking $25 and calling it a day... At least, that is how I feel about them... If they are legit... please let me know!

So... you get lured into "buying" bids/ I bought 45 bids for $25. I then stated bidding on a ipad that was going up in 1 Cent increments and wasn't getting anywhere with that, so I started bidding on a $15 gift card for iTunes. But I ran out of bids. So I stupidly went to buy more bids, which cost me another $25... and concentrated on getting the iTunes card. I still didn't win it... so then a little window comes up and says "Sorry you didn't win this, would you like to buy it for $2.57"? So I thought... OK, I'll buy it. Even though an itunes certificate can be transferred into your itunes account for free (just with a transaction number) they charged me $1.90 in shipping/handling charges. So, in the end, my $15 iTunes card ended up costing me over $53.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE! I was lured onto it by them showing me all these great deals people had won, but I don't believe than ANYONE actually won a prize worth over $200 for less than $5. What a horrible rip off.

My husband is always searching for different ways for me to spend my time. Tonight, he saw a TV commercial for a site called BigSpot.com where you get paid to do surveys... but when I created an account, I was sent to a page with THOUSANDS of some of these "surveys" I was supposed to go through and sign up for the ones that looked interesting to me.

ARE THE CREATORS OF THIS SYSTEM ON CRACK?

They seriously wanted me to sign up with my personal info like home address, phone numbers, email address, etc... just so they could market their junk to me. The first one I saw was for Omaha Steaks. Everyone knows that their beef is so proudly raised on Iowa corn.

If a cow ever encountered an ear of corn in the wild, it would not recognize it as food. Cows are FORCED to eat corn because on a feed lot, that's all that's offered (and probably a lot of antibiotics, too). When people were in concentration camps they ate soup made from 50 gallons of water and one turnip. When a mammal is starving, they will eat anything.

OK: I'm off my tangent. But the next company I saw was another company who wanted all my personal info to take paid surveys. I'm thinking that they probably pay $2 for a survey that takes around 30 minutes to fill out. AND SOMEHOW, THIS COMPANY HAS FUNDS TO HAVE TV COMMERCIALS?

Do not sign up for this company. It's not worth it (unless you enjoy making $4 an hour, but then god only knows how many companies will buy your info and solicit you and drive you and your inbox crazy). If we all ignore them, they will be forced out of business...

I just feel that there are SO many insincere men on the site... and while I have never seen the female side of the site, I bet the girls are just posers. Also... site so buggy it's crazy...

Tip for consumers:
Buyer beware.

Normally, I am quite satisfied with iTunes... but recently the site has been buggy. And I have a $75 gift card attached to my account... but I can't download anything... Their customer service is basically nonexistent. Also, if you download an album and hate it, I believe you should be able to return it. Audible.com lets you return virtual books, so why can't you return music files?

Don't bother writing a review here. If you say ANYTHING negative, you will first be asked to connect to your account through FaceBook and now I bet I will get 1,000 unwanted posts from them on my FB feed... yay.

  • nCrowd

Groupon and Living Social BOTH will refund and guarantee that your experience is a good one. Ncrowd doesn't. That is unacceptable to me... So resist the urge to buy from them...

  • Comcast

4/21/14

OMGAWSH! Comcast SUCKS so bad and I HATE them. They constantly waste my time, it takes 4 minutes to get thru their phone system and in this day and age I cannot even fathom how horrific their customer service is! I just spent 6 minutes on the phone, agreed to take their stupid customer satisfaction quiz... and then the line is just cut after I ALWAYS tell the rep AT THE VERY START OF THE CALL to call me back if the call is dropped, and they never do! My internet is constantly going down on a perfectly sunny day and I'm stuck paying $80 a month FOR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON PLANET EARTH! They should all be ASHAMED of their crap product. PLEASE... let the Sabertooth Tiger come back and eat all of them in a blood bath! That would make me SO happy!

I have been trying to change my name and my email address and they are making it SO DIFFICULT! First of all, it takes at least 5 minutes to get thru their automated phone system as they keep referring you back to the website to do whatever it is that you want to do. But if you can't get in, then you get to spend HOURS and HOURS on the phone with them! It's awful. Their customer service is lacking and I'm on hold for the 4th time as I leisurly write this review. It's a time-saver if you never need to change your information... but just trying to update your name or your account information and be prepared to have you call dropped multiple times, having to deal with their EXTREMELY IRRITATING customer service. Actually... I am rethinking my 2 stars, here. Depending on how much longer I have to deal with this, I may be coming back and downgrading it to 1 star. Their "customer service" is bad...

This review could get me in a LOT of trouble... but my former husband ** has been trying to kill me, and they REFUSE to take me seriously. So that makes them jerks, in my book. Give 'em a citation and see how they feel about it!

NOOOOOOO! I called AppleCare to get some help on a download that I accidentally did and they were closed, and I got hijacked by this site called ExpertHelp.com! (obviously, I am going to report them to AppleCare tomorrow morning) and it said "7 day free trial" but then on the next window it asked me for my credit card info. So, I thought, no big, I will give them it because I only intend to use them once. But! The "person" helping me was named "ROFLMAO Lee" and I got terrible, generic answers to my question... and then I called my Amex card, and, LO!... they charge my card for $1.00 and set me up on a monthly payment plan for $7.99 a week! Long story short... AMEX will dispute the charge as fraudulent and will not let them charge you any further. Call me brain-dead or whatever you want... but I am currently a student studying my butt off with really 0 time to do much else. So... don't fall for their scam. I am SO HAPPY that AMEX has already disputed the $1.00 charge and that they will not allow any further charges... because I am pretty sure that this unscruplous pseudo-company will attempt to charge me $7.99 next week. GAWD... I love/hate the internet so much. I feel I am pretty savvy, but I do get sucked in sometimes. Anyway... YAY for AMEX, Boo on expert help.com.

  • OurTime

6/29/15

OurTime had the nerve to steal my profile information from Match.com and then try to sell it to me after filling up my email with erroneous winks and blinks and stars and loads of other crap. It even decided which body shape and hair color were mine (it didn't get either of those right). I believe each and every message, wink or other dating spam I got was made up by the company n order to get to me buy their KoolAid, because the site just made up so much GARBAGE complied from Match.com. They also used my pictures from Match without my permission.

I did not want to become an online dating expert, but now, I guess I am. The upshot is that I removed my profile and hopefully now they won't be bothering me anymore.

  • Idol Lash

1/30/11

I have been scanning the web for lash and brow stimulators ever since RenewLash was taken off the market and replaced by LiLash (which I am not fond of... all my beautiful growth... gone! People used to stop me on the street to ask where I got such real-looking false eyelashes) and I came across a site that reviewed lash and brow stimulators and one I had never heard of that got the best reviews is called IdolLash, so I decided to order some.

First of all, it would not allow me to change my shipping option, so I wound up paying nearly $17 for "rush" delivery. No matter how many times I changed it to "regular delivery" it kept bumping me up to the $17 option. That is super expensive for such a tiny product that come in a tube the size and shape of a mascara tube!

Then I saw this little, tiny "help" link that said 24/7 help available. But not only did they not give an email address, their operators are NOT standing by and I can contact them by regular US mail (I guess that's the 24/7 bit) or I can call during regular west coast business hours... Um... That doesn't even begin to satisfy the MINIMUM requirements for what I would call 24/7 help. Of course I will call them Monday and try to sort it out, but Mondays are busy and they don't even have an 800 number! So, yeah, I have a big hate-on for that.

Plus, I got this email congratulating me into their monthly program where they will just keep and use my credit card information to send me out a new tube (whether I want one or not) every month. When I was placing my order, it said NOTHING about that! So now I have 3 gigantic complaints about this company... They forced me to pay $17 for something that should cost no more than $4 to ship and I am now enrolled in their monthly shipping program AND they are NOT available 24/7 to help me.

Three strikes... you are out. Now I don't even want the stuff (because if the company is going to be that shady about their "monthly program" and not let me choose my own shipping method AND advertise 24/7 customer support) how can I be sure that the product I have never heard of suddenly has all these 5-star reviews. I am very suspicious that all of their "feedback" was planted by the company.

Right now it is Saturday evening. So I have to wait one and a half days to address this situation. They are shady, unethical and liars. Don't order from them until I come back and say something like "OMG! This stuff works so great that everyone should try it." And that could happen, I just don't believe that it will. I just hate companies that are not upfront with all of their policies, but this one actually LIES about it! So, until further notice, stay away from them. But you never know... I could come back and say... wow... this is the best stuff I have been able to find with over a year of searching.

  • Apple

4/21/14

I cannot even begin to express HOW EXCELLENT their customer support is. Always buy AppleCare with ANY new purchase. They rock and I gotta go as they are connecting me just NOW! YAY! Love this company. Comcast should take some lessons from Apple... STAT!

  • doTERRA

8/27/15

I think doTerra is a marginal company AT BEST. Their "virtual office" is impossible to use, it's your basic MLM that is very poorly structured so a customer like me just always has this little carrot dangled in front of my face the get something free, but it never happens. They do have a super cool cod water diffuser that is great... until it breaks (mine did) and they wouldn't give me free shipping or a discount on the diffuser... so I think I am done buying from doTerra. I just think the company is poorly run and I have a better (non commercial guy) way to buy essential oils.

  • Swanson

4/27/14

Wow! What an awesome company. I am a bit of a "vitamin junkie" but Swanson's rivals Nordstrom for customer service. They rock so hard! Their name brands are very affordable and stuff like Green Vibrance (that retails in a local store for over $40) is $19... or something crazy like that. Their boxes always arrive in immaculate condition and recently I was looking for a supplement they did not carry... so I called them and they took down all of the info on the package that I had and said they would inquire about carrying it! YAY! You can buy anything from Fish Oil to their own Tri-Fiber complex (my favorite fiber supplement, ever... very easy on the stomach... to lip balms, to organic peppermint oil... I don't even know what else to say about Sawanon's... they rock... And I am grateful to be a customer

  • Amazon

5/21/10

It's easy to get lured in by the cheap prices for new hard cover books. But I feel they have gone too far. I mean, you can buy anything from baby wipes to a tire iron. Why does it need to be so big?

And when I had a problem with a merchant who overcharged me (some sort of clerical error on THEIR part) over 8 times what I was quoted to pay it took me nearly 3 months to clear it up. There is no phone number to call and talk to a live human being and I had to send email after email to try to clear it up. It was ridiculous.

But let's focus on their book review section for a moment: I really hated a book and gave it one star. The author harassed me using various aliases and, then worst of all, got Amazon.com to pull me one star review AND I was accused of hectoring this author. All because this one little crybaby (named Paul Cohn... look it up... I kid you not) complained. And what I found especially fascinating about this particular author is that besides writing total crap "novels" he attacked everyone who gave his book anything less than 5 stars and ALL of his 5 star reviews were from "people" who had never written another book review in their LIFE! I mean... it wasn't a best seller... it maybe sold 20 or 30 copies and it has about 10 5 star reviews that these reviewers have NEVER written another single book review.

I mean, if that doesn't reek or sound of fish, I don't know what does. And Amazon comes down on me? Well, that's just crazy. I say skip Amazon.com and buy local (even though I do live in Seattle, so Amazon is local for me)... because there are so many other book stores who deserve your business.

And don't even get me started on their secondary market. I recently purchased a book that was said to be in "like new" condition. When I got it the cover was torn, there was a red wine (I hope it was red wine) stain on it and worse of all! Some passages in the book were underlined in pen! So I complained 3 weeks ago and they said they would refund my money... but have they? Ope. And I'll bet you anything it will take between 10-15 emails to get them to honor their money back guarantee. That was 3 weeks ago, and I have not received an email saying that my money was refunded.

I would say this is the ONLY time I would ever say: Set fire to Amazon! (because I associate that name with a particular rain forest that is in peril).

Plain and simple: they suck... long, hard and completely.

  • Jade and Juliet

8/28/13

I bought a couple of dresses from them through TIPPR and what I got in the mail was 2 pieces of GARBAGE masquerading as dresses... never have I seen such cheap, ugly material... AND! They weren't even in my size. They sent dresses that were WAY too small.

I wrote to TIPPR, but knew that nothing would really come of that, so I wrote to Jade and Juliet and told them I wanted to return them and they said that it stated that all sales were final and the dresses could not be returned. I looked up the original transaction and it said nothing about no returns and everything was a final sale.

You don't get to do that in hindsight. I have already turned this matter over to my credit card company (YAY AMEX! For having such great customer service) and the money has already been placed back into my account and now these 2 stupid girls get to deal with AMEX instead of me.

BEWARE of this company. I don't know what dress the model was wearing, but it wasn't the cheap, ugly rags I got. And in 6 sizes too small? Don't order from them! Let's drive them out of business.

  • Nordstroom

9/12/14

Normally, I'd give Nordis 5 stars... after all, they did set a world wide trend for service. But! They lost 6 pairs of my shoes... then had the NERVE! To charge me $17.50 for cleaning one air of suede shoes. I'll never take my shoes there again!
