About Me

i better update my profile!! I’m a retired RN, BSN who was born in Wisconsin, who moved to northern CA near Sacramento at age 35, and lived there FOR 31 YEARS THAT WENT BY IN A BLINK OF AN EYE. Last November, 2018, my.husband and I moved back to our home state of WI, just to experience the worst winter that most people could remember! Talk about culture and weather shock! We moved from a city of 350,000 to one of 5,000, with HORRIBLE internet service. But we are with our families again!

How I Can Help

During the last 10 years of my Nursing career, I worked in Quality and Risk Management, particularly in Infection Prevention. I am very knowledgable about statistics, and how they can easily fool people. I also can spot some instances where reviews are fake and being written by either owners or employees of the company. When I make a mistake and order from a horrible or fraudulent company, I fight back. I let other customers know why I wouldn't recommend that they buy from that company.

Interests

Shopping (unfortunately), reading, coloring, fishing, and writing reviews!!

In 2011 I found out that I had very severe sleep apnea. I would stop breathing 92 times per hour! No wonder I was tired all the time. My first machine was a CPAP. It didn't have a computer chip to moniter results back in 2011. It wasn't working, so I got a BiPAP machine from ResMed, a leading company in Sleep Apnea machines. This one had a chip which would record "usage hours, mask seal, events, mask on/off, and myAir score". This helped me monitor my progress. After several months, the sleep apnea "events" (which monitored the number of times I stopped breathing or had insufficient breaths" started increasing again. Sleep specialists can download the chip and see all the data. Finally, I got an ASV machine, also from ResMed and also with a chip.
If you have sleep apnea, I highly recommend that you get a ResMed machine. To register, you input easy information and can then see all of the indicators I mentioned above, in order to see how effective your machine is in helping your sleep apnea.
Because I have such severe sleep apnea, I check my events and scores often. If my events increase, I can bring the chip in to my doctor, he downloads the data, and then he can increase or decrease the pressures of the machine. The myair.resmed.com site also shows you how to clean your equipment and gives you tips on how to better control your sleep apnea.
I don't know how many other companies manufacture sleep apnea machines, but I highly recommend ResMed. Whatever brand you get, get one with a computer chip and take more charge over your sleep apnea and your health. Be proactive and be a team member with your doctor. This site is what you need to do so.

This website USED TO BE CALLED supplement geek.com; but because of a trademark dispute, Joe Cannon's site is now SUPPLEMENTCLARITY.COM. I humbly disagree with Bernard about supplement-geek.com's review. Of course everyone knows you cannot do human testing of new products without going through a rigorous protocol. I was a research coordinator with a major university a while back, using cancer protocols, so I'm familiar with research. HOWEVER, the products supplement-geek reviews are supplements (things people are already buying and using) with ingredients people already have in our bodies or things we have all been eating or taking all of our lives! Supplement-geek.com reviews "claims"that these supplement companies make about their products. It's different than cancer drugs or other new drugs or combinations. All Supplement-geek is pointing out in some cases is that no human studies have been done to correlate the claims with some scientific proof! He uses PubMed.gov, ClinicalTrials.gov, NIH, and other reputable sites for his information. He never says anyone should or should NOT buy anything. It is just information for consumers to use. As for ads, which website DOESN'T have ads? No one is COMMANDING anyone to press the ad buttons. These are the reasons I humbly disagree with you. I HAVE NEVER MET NOR AM I RELATED TO Supplement-geek.com.

Roseann, thank you SO much for saying all that. I appreciate it more than you know. I am also happy you took notice of the emphasis I place on the clinical studies, pubmed, NIH and ClinicalTrials.gov. It takes a lot of work to sift though it all. I am glad you noticed :)

I was asked to submit a review of this website, so here I am. OK, I am biased because I am a Republican! So I believe this website, which I spent time looking at, is based on lies or at the least, media rumors that are unsubstantiated. For example, they state they don't want the Russians interfering in our elections. Well, I don't either. However, wasn't that what the Mueller trial was all about? And President Trump was not indicted! Some people just simply HATE TRUMP. That is their entire focus. He could invent a cure for cancer AND COVID-19, and they would still hate him.
The media has played a terrible role in this hatred. If everyone would just evaluate their own life and circumstances and determine whether President Trump ACTUALLY DID ANYTHING TO HURT THEM PERSONALLY, maybe we could have a government that really worked together!

  • Joe-cannon

Joe-Cannon.com is a great, informative site about fitness, personal training, health, and wellness. Joe is a certified Personal Trainer with a Masters in Exercise Science. I'm not a trainer, and in fact, I probably NEED a trainer, but I became interested in this site because Joe Cannon is the first person EVER (I think) to write about rhabdomyolysis and exercise-RHABDO can lead to kidney failure and death in extreme cases. I'm an RN, BSN who read his book and was shocked at what can happen. In this site, Joe also talks about how to pass the Personal Trainer's NASM and ACE certifications, plus he has an EXCELLENT article on Gym Emergencies and what should be done when they occur. I got to know about the Joe-Cannon.com site because I'm an avid reader of his "SupplementClarity.com" site, where he does totally unbiased reviews of supplements and health products. I have the utmost respect for Joe Cannon's knowledge. He has written several books, including one, "Nutritional Supplements" that I bought and use as a resource. He trains Trainers, has lectured at NASA, and has had articles published, including in "Prevention". No, I'm not Joe's mother. But I think I found a real treasure on-line when I found Joe Cannon's websites.

  • Mother Earth Living

5/14/18

I have subscribed to the Mother Earth Living magazines and to their newsletters. Mother Earth has great articles on a variety of topics from how to live off the grid, how to raise chickens, how to garden, how to use essential oils, how to make your own make-up, and everything in between. There are also books to buy from Ogden Publishing. I bought a book for a niece who purchased her own 90-acre ranch. She bought chickens and was planning a green house and making many more plans. I bought her a book which had about everything one might need to how to do or make just about anything. I think I need to buy another for myself! She found it very useful.
The reason I gave a 4 and not a 5 is that this year I haven't received my magazines, even though Mother Earth has my correct address. Even though I received my magazines before this year, they didn't seem to come regularly or on time. If you subscribe, ME does continuing renewals, unless you write to stop that. On the plus side, I contacted ME about my missing magazines and they offered to send me the ones I missed. It was also easy to stop continuous renewals. We are moving this year, so I will resubscribe IF they send me the missing ones. It's a very good website.

  • Xyron

4/25/18

Xyron makes a sticker-maker machine that makes edge to edge adhesive on any flat sticker you put into the machine. The machine works without batteries or electricity-just by turning a handle. The roll of adhesive is 18 feet long. WHEN IT WORKS, it is a great machine, but in my experience with the Xyron 500 EN 5" (the width of the machine), it works less than 67% of the time. If you buy the machine, GO TO AMAZON TO DO SO-DO NOT BUY FROM XYRON! If you buy from Amazon, you have some hope of a replacement or solution if the machine or cartridge breaks (right away). I purchased a machine from Xyron, and immediately, on the first turn of the handle, the cartridge tore. There is no way to put it back together. I contacted Xyron, and it was equivalent to a Federal Investigation for me to attempt to get a new machine! I took pictures of the defect and had to email the representative in customer service numerous times, with things like lot numbers, etc. Finally, after about a month, they did not replace the machine, but they did give me a new cartridge. I make handmade greeting cards and use stickers a lot. All that month, I couldn't make one sticker. It was unbelievable all the fuss I went through when obviously at least the cartridge was defective. Amazon gives much better service than Zyron gives! I have found that these sticker maker machines' cartridges or the handle of the machine do NOT work (or they tear) in over 30% of the machines and/or cartridges. They tear right away most often. I'm a college graduate and an RN, so I know how to insert a simple cartridge which only goes in one way.
As I said, when the whole thing works, it puts adhesive on the bottom of whatever piece of paper you want to use as a sticker. Too bad it often doesn't work. If you want a fair resolution of the machine's breaking down, buy it from Amazon.

  • PipingRock

8/23/16

I ordered Piping Rock Sweet Almond Oil from Amazon-this part is important. It didn't say "fulfilled by Amazon" (as far as I remember-which is also important to my review). When I received the almond oil, the box was saturated with oil because the cap was half opened. I've ordered Piping Rock essential oils before, so I knew they are a reputable company. I contacted Piping Rock about this problem. To my gratitude and surprise, they responded quickly. Soon, I received not only one bottle of their Sweet Almond oil, BUT TWO! I always take pictures of anything I'm sent that's damaged, but they took me at my word (I'm an honest person). I feel Piping Rock went way over and beyond, and I will certainly purchase from them again! I also have to say this about Amazon-if you are buying something that comes from a company you haven't ever heard of-make sure that the product is "fulfilled by Amazon". There are MANY sellers on Amazon, and if an item is damaged, but it is fulfilled by Amazon, you'll get help. If it isn't fulfilled by Amazon, you can only hope you have an honest seller. The almond oil I bought was not fulfilled by Amazon, but Piping Rock is a well-known company, and they certainly helped me!

  • Spanish To English

9/8/18

I've lived in the Central Valley of California for almost 31 years, but I never learned Spanish. Maybe I'm biased, but English is our language in the USA. Anyway, we have a housecleaning service come in every two weeks. In a couple of these weeks, a lady who doesn't speak English cleaned our home. I had some special instructions for her, but since neither of us spoke the other's language, I was looking for some way to communicate. I came across "Spanishtoenglish" on my cell phone. What is so great about this app is that you write in what you want to say. The Spanish translation shows up on the cell phone, along with an audible voice feature. It is simple but totally successful. I love it. It would also be invaluable if people wanted to learn Spanish. The very best translation app I ever found!

  • Angi (formerly Angie's List)

3/22/16

First, I need to explain that I never used Angie's List before, but I needed to find a Pulmonary doctor and an Endocrinologist. First I had to sign up and pay for Angie's List. Then, to my disgust, I found that I had to pay MORE to look up doctors. I wasn't able to preview the Doctor's lists until I had already paid. The straw that broke the camel's back was the fact that there were only 2 doctors in each category (I did this in Fall of 2015). NONE of these doctors had ANY REVIEWS listed, so I and no idea if these were good doctors, knowledgable in their specialties. They just might have paid Angie to get on her list, for all I knew! I thought Angie's List only provided info on doctors, plumbers, electricians, etc who were reviewed and found to be good.
The plus side is that immediately after seeing that Angie's List was worthless to me, I contacted them and told them to cancel my membership (within 1/2 hour of joining), and they did! I also was refunded my money. Alleluia!
On an annoying side, I kept on getting numerous emails and offers to subscribe for months after I cancelled! I had to constantly unsubscribe.
Angie's List may be OK if you are looking for plumbers, contractors, etc (or maybe AL is NOT good). But if your health is at stake, don't hope that Angie's List will be able to help you!

  • Orthofeet

10/29/19

I have major spine problems, and because of this I have not been able to wear shoes with heels for a long time. I came upon this website in an ad. These shoes are expensive, ranging from $119 to $149 on average, although they do offer discounts and coupons. They say that their shoes are the #1 Brand recommended by Podiatrists. There are orthotic insoles in every shoe, an air cushioning sole, and anatomical arch support. They offer a 60-day "wear test" so that if the shoes don't work for you, you can return them. That's a great deal. I haven't tried to use that yet, though, so I can't comment on how it works. I bought boots with a 2 inch heel. They look fashionable, yet have a great traction sole which I definitely need. This is definitely a legitimate business, very helpful for those of us with foot or back problems.

  • HelloFresh

2/21/19

Hello Fresh is a service that delivers the ingredients for meals you select. They had a special price for 4 weeks, so I thought I would try it so my husband and I could cook together. Hahaha! He didn't get into it at all.
To explain how it works, a customer can choose the basic plan, a veggie plan or a family plan for however many meals a week you want for however many people you want to feed. I chose 2 meals a week for 2 people, and after the first week, it came up to about $27+ dollars a week, on the special. They send all the ingredients to your home, along with directions on exactly how to make each meal. Every meal was DELICIOUS.
I do NOT like to cook. It's time consuming and messy.
I ended up cancelling hellofresh because it was just too much work to make the meals.
However, their recipes gave me great ideas that I can simplify and use in the future.
And I have to say that all the deliveries came on time, even though i now live outside a small town in Wisconsin, and the winter here has been brutal!
I may sometime get back with HelloFresh and just order 2 meals for 2 people per month. They have very flexible plans. I maybe can handle complex meals twice a month.
But remember, i don't like to cook, and haven't done much cooking, so what's complicated for me may be simple for you.
It was easy to cancel, which I appreciated.
So I believe they are a good company, but it's just too much work for someone who hates to cook.

  • Bonanza

10/29/18

I don't know how I came upon Bonanza.com, except I think it came up when I looked up Boots No. 7, a foundation I was interested in. From what little I could research, it seems that Bonanza is a site where sellers of all kinds of products can advertise and try to sell their products. I'm not sure if this is true.
Anyway, I give 2 stars for the DESCRIPTIONS of the products on Bonanza website. The descriptions are SO HORRIBLY VAGUE! In some cases I'm not sure if a product is used or new, if something is leather or vinyl or cardboard, and so on. You can send a question to the seller, and I have without anyone answering.
So I thought I'd take a chance and I ordered what was described as a leather shoulder handbag. I couldn't tell the size of this purse, as no dimensions were given. I ordered another product, too, also with almost no specific information reported.
This site needs to provide buyers with a whole lot more in terms of describing their products! It's terrible how little sellers tell us about what they are selling!
So this first review gets one star (barely) for the way the website is set up and the complete lack of specific detail of the products.
WHEN I GET MY PRODUCTS, I WILL RATE BONANZA.COM ON THE PRODUCTS I RECEIVED.
Since I saw some reviews that said buyers got fake, cheap items, I ordered two things I could afford to lose money on. I hope I get good results. I will update this review later.
Thank you.

Hi Roseann, sorry to hear about the trouble with your first experience on Bonanza! To confirm, Bonanza is an online marketplace that connects buyers to transact directly with individual sellers. Bonanza does not produce, house or ship any items itself.

It sounds like you've taken the right step by attempting to contact the seller directly with your question, but you haven't heard back yet. Please contact our support team via email at support@bonanza.com. They are best able to assist through that support channel, and they will be glad to help!

  • Western Schools

6/13/18

I'm an RN, BSN who is 66 years old, but I'm scared of NOT keeping my RN license current! This is strange because I've been on disability since I was 54 years old, but I would never, ever pass Boards again. Being so old, I absolutely HATE on-line courses. CA and many other states require that RNs have 30 units of continuing education every 2 years in order for us to renew our licenses. Western Schools also has CEs for other licensed people, including Pharmacists. I've used Western Schools for decades! However, the last few years, WS has made many courses for 30 CEs either very expensive, or they have many courses that are less than 30 units, forcing people to buy several courses. I just purchased a 30 CE continuing education hard copy course for a sale price of $59.95. However, I was appalled when I checked out and saw that the S&H cost was $10.95, making the grand total for my 30 CEs over $70! On the other hand, I totally hate on-line courses, (which WS also sell). OK, I'm 66! It's just too bad WS has become so expensive, but this may be my last time to renew my license. Their courses are all in all very good, and they do mail or email certificates quickly.

If you have ever been ripped off, lost money, or been hugely disappointed in the products of an online business, and you want to warn others-this is the PERFECT SITE! Alternatively, if you love an online business and want to encourage people that they can trust it, write a review on Sitejabber.com! This online reviewing site is growing exponentially. I buy many things online because I'm disabled, but also because retail stores are limiting stock. I totally rely on people's reviews before I buy or not buy from certain sites. Sitejabber is the perfect site in order to check whether or not you are dealing with a reputable, trustworthy, high quality business.
In addition, the founder of the site has contacted reviewers last year on ways to make the site better. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE? Only someone who values the members who use his site. And the website has become increasingly better.
I urge you to review online businesses on Sitejabber.com if you've had either a horrible or excellent experience-or even if you want others to know about the online company. I also encourage you to look at SItejabber before you buy from a website which you've never used before-check out the reviews of people who already used that website.
I highly recommend Sitejabber.com. It will help you!

  • Supplementsgeeks

I would like to inform people that this website name no longer is Joe Cannon's website. When Joe Cannon started supplement-geek.com, he didn't get domain status for the website. In 2017, someone who sells supplements, which Joe does NOT do, took over the website address. Instead of going through costly litigation, Joe Cannon changed his site name (where he does unbiased, scientific research on supplements and products) to SupplementClarity.com. Joe Cannon now has no connection with supplement geek.com. SO IF YOU WANT TO READ JOE CANNON AND HIS SCIENTIFIC REVIEWS, PLEASE GO TO SUPPLEMENTCLARITY.COM.
THANK YOU.

Has anyone out there ever managed to write a review of an app they got from Apple's App Store AND HAD IT SHOW UP? I am trying to write a review of a game from Apple's App Store, and after an hour of looking up how to contact Apple, finally Siri showed me some possible sites when I asked her (it) this question-"How can I write a review on a game from Apple's App Store"? The only site that mentioned reviews was "developer.apple.com". I was dismayed when I saw that the site had categories such as-"why your review didn't show up" and " why it takes so long for your review to show up". Anyway, whenever I would press "reviews", the site would say "We'll be back soon". It told me for details and updates, see systems status page. WHAT? I'm a 65-year old woman who only wants to write a review on a stupid game that I got from the Apple App Store! What are they so worried about? If anyone has ever written a review on an App and actually had it on the Apple site, please let me know! My husband and I have Apple iPads and we were thinking about getting an Apple computer. Now I'm not so sure, since I cannot even write a review about a GAME!

  • Facebook

1/3/17

I don't know whether to review FB or Google, but my husband looked me up on Google, and to my disgust, I found numerous sites where people could pay to find out any public information on me. That didn't disturb me as much as seeing MY FACEBOOK PAGE on GOOGLE! How is this possible? This not only VIOLATES MY PRIVACY, BUT IT ALSO INVALIDATES THE PRIVACY OF MY FB FRIENDS! I did NOT choose to open my FB account to the world; I made friends with my relatives and a few friends! This is so abhorrent to me and so disgusts me that I would appreciate any one who knows of any legal actions I can take to protect my privacy and that of my contacts. I already have friends who are lawyers and paralegals, and if this is a David against Goliath type action, I don't care. I will do what I can to act against either/or both FB and Google for putting personal information on google.
By the way, neither my husband nor other contacts I have had their FB accessible on Google. As soon as I get all the info I need, I will totally quit FB, in as far as that is possible.

  • Vitacost

9/22/16

I often use Vitacost to buy supplements and vitamins that would cost me MUCH MUCH MORE if I purchased them at my local health food store. In particular, I buy Garden of Life products-the Men and Women's Over-50 Multivitamin/Mineral supplements AND Garden of Life's RawFit, which is a non-whey based protein powder with supplements. At the health food store and at other online companies, Raw Fit retails for around $52, not including tax (if applicable). I recently purchased TWO Raw Fit containers for a total of $56! Free shipping! When I visit family in Wisconsin, I've had Vitacost shipped there; when I'm at home (duh!) obviously they ship to my home. I always get my order quickly. They also carry a variety of foods, flours, and other health care products. I've never been disappointed. I highly recommend Vitacost. I've never had to call Customer Service, so I can't review them.

I am disabled and on Medicare because of disability, even though I'm "only 63". I have to purchase supplementals for doctors and hospitals. I have a Medicare Advisor who recommended Aetna for Plan F. All Plan F's apparently have to cover the same things if it supplements Medicare, so monthly supplement cost is the main consideration. Aetna was, last year, and IS this year the most cost-efficient for someone like me. In 2015, I had shoulder surgery and a 5-day hospital admission, products for sleep apnea, a bunch of specialist appointments, and more. All costs were covered by Medicare and Aetna. No supplementals are cheap! But Aetna is considered "good insurance" by my doctors.

  • Wisdomganga

8/20/19

I guess you might think of "wisdomganga.com" as somewhat like Sitejabber.com, except not as great as Sitejabber. I was looking up a company that sounded too good to be true, and wisdomganga listed a number of items that were suspicious and led them to believe the site was a scam. Today I saw there was an article about what to do IF you get scammed. Whoever writes these articles, or at least the one today, isn't good with spelling or grammar, and the information given is very basic, but they do have links about some companies they believe are scams. It's not a BAD site. It could be made a lot better.
The company I originally investigated did turn out to be one that WAS NOT A GOOD COMPANY.
We have to be extra careful now because sleazy scammers are out to try and get our money!
