About Me

i better update my profile!! I’m a retired RN, BSN who was born in Wisconsin, who moved to northern CA near Sacramento at age 35, and lived there FOR 31 YEARS THAT WENT BY IN A BLINK OF AN EYE. Last November, 2018, my.husband and I moved back to our home state of WI, just to experience the worst winter that most people could remember! Talk about culture and weather shock! We moved from a city of 350,000 to one of 5,000, with HORRIBLE internet service. But we are with our families again!

How I Can Help

During the last 10 years of my Nursing career, I worked in Quality and Risk Management, particularly in Infection Prevention. I am very knowledgable about statistics, and how they can easily fool people. I also can spot some instances where reviews are fake and being written by either owners or employees of the company. When I make a mistake and order from a horrible or fraudulent company, I fight back. I let other customers know why I wouldn't recommend that they buy from that company.

Interests

Shopping (unfortunately), reading, coloring, fishing, and writing reviews!!

I was interested to see what kind of dresses this site had, but when I looked online, it said the business had closed down. It was a start-up that failed. I believe I read that the founder wrote a book or articles about why it failed.
But I became very puzzled when I looked and saw reviews written just a few days ago! And others written a month ago. So I deleted my review, thinking I was wrong. However, then I saw on the site where we review businesses on Sitejabber that it DID say "business closed". I'm kind of confused.
Anyway, based on my research, I rewrote my original review again. It's a shame the business didn't make it because it had some great reviews in the past. But the majority of start-ups do fail.

  • Consumer TV

7/14/19

I got an ad from another Website (one I had deleted long ago) about this product called Arthrozene that is supposed to lubricate joints, increase mobility, and decrease pain. To me this ad seemed similar to other sites that pretty much were scams, such as the Dr Gerhauser site. I have very painful knees, and I've already had a right knee replacement in 2011. So since I have been scammed before, I looked Arthrozene up online and came upon "Consumer.tv". Consumer.tv DOES provide coupons and discounts for certain items. However, they have a quasi-scientific look to their reviews-an overview, key benefits, ingredients and how they work, where to buy, and FINAL VERDICT. I noticed that the 5-star reviews were always the ones for the products for which they had discounts or coupons.
In the fine print, if you clicked down on the bottom, I found out why. Consumer.tv had to submit a "Disclosure of Material Connection". This means that if someone clicks on a link and buys a product that they have a deal with, Consumer.tv will get a commission. This is a Federal Trade Commission requirement that they post this.

  • Avon.co

3/26/19

I became an Avon Representative when I moved to Wisconsin. I have many relatives in WI, so I thought I'd make them all customers. However, upon moving here, I found out that there were already a lot of Avon Reps, and at my age, I didn't want to spend time selling things. However, you can become a Rep for $25 or $40 or more, get a kit full of samples and full sized products AND get a great discount on everything you buy for yourself! And if you want to make money, Avon has such a wide range of products that are easy to sell.
I believe that Avon, being a huge company that has been around for a long time, has a research team that is top-notch in developing products or improving older products. And the prices are very reasonable. I love the skin care line a lot.
If you DO decide to make money as a Rep, you will have a lot of support from your sponsors.
I believe Avon is a solid business.
Thank you.

  • My Patriot Supply

3/26/19

A friend of ours told us about his emergency food and water supply, something he accumulated in case of a disaster. We lived in a big city then, and I thought what if the power was off for days or weeks, looters were out, the grocery stores were empty, etc. So i bought some emergency food from mypatriotsupply.com. Now I live out in the country, and it snows here, with blizzard conditions that could make it impossible to drive to get food. This company has emergency/disaster foods and equipment of all types. Their foods are dehydrated, and all they need is water (and preferably something to warm them up). They are sealed in waterproof hard plastic tubs. And the expiration dates are 25 years from when you purchased them. I'm sure they would still be OK to use after 25 years, but that's just my opinion. I did try one meal-Mac and cheese, which I LOVE. IT tasted GREAT!
I believe that in this day and age, a wise person should be prepared. The government may not be able to help us in times of disaster. So put a kit of emergency supplies together, just in case.
The reason for 4 stars is that ALL emergency foods cost ALOT OF MONEY!
Thank you.

  • Famous Footwear

2/21/19

I ordered a pair of Clark shoes from Amazon, which were shipped from Famous Footwear. This was the second purchase of Clark shoes I had purchased from Amazon via Famous Footwear in about 4 months. Both pairs came within a short time frame, were packed very well, and fit me very well. I already had a couple pair of Clark shoes, so I knew my size and was confident in ordering online.
I now live outside a very small town in WI, instead of in a city of 350,000 with malls, so I will have to rely on online shopping for many things. I would have no problem ordering Clark foot wear from Famous Footwear again.

  • Grove

2/21/19

I came upon Grove.co probably on an online ad. They have a wide choice of more environmentally safe products for cleaning. So I ordered a bunch of products. However, right at the end of my order, I noticed that auto-shipping of my order would occur. If there is one thing I HATE, IT IS AUTO SHIPPING THAT I DO NOT WANT!
Auto shipping has cost me so much money, time, and grief in the past that I carefully read EVERYTHING before buying.
However, I have to say that when I contacted Customer Service after noticing the auto shipping component, she immediately helped me in cancelling the future shipments.
Therefore, I was happy with this company.
On the other hand, Customer Service did tell me that the company runs on regular shipments of products. So know that in advance.

  • Trinity Urgent Care

10/26/18
• Updated review

I wrote a very good review of Trinity Urgent Care, TUC, but after what happened to me next, I must revise it and let you know what my doctors and nurses cautioned me about. The provider at TUC correctly told me to see my personal doctor and a cardiology doctor as soon as possible. TUC had told me that my tests showed 3 things that I had never had before:
1. Pulmonary edema, or fluid in my lungs,
2. A problem with the electrical conduction in my heart, and
3. A leaking valve.
I was shocked. I saw a cardiologist 2 days later who gave me Nitroglycerin if I had chest pain and who told me to go to the ER if that didn't help the pain. Sure enough, two days later I got severe chest pain and ended up in an ambulance to the ED.
I had all the tests done that the cardiologist wanted, plus more. Thankfully, my heart is fine, and no fluid was found in my lungs.
Anyone with chest pain must go to the ER, so I'm not sorry I did. Don't think nothing might be wrong-just go.
But I believe that having already being under severe stress because we are moving across the country, the serious problems TUC said showed up made me even more stressed out.
My doctors and others reminded me that in most cases the Urgent Care provider never met you before, doesn't know you, and does not have your medical records. Also their equipment may not be as good as a hospital's, nor do they have specialists there to read your results.
So of you're told you have a serious thing you never knew before with your heart and lungs, please see your own doctors as soon as possible.
Urgent Care is for simple problems like sore throats, flu, broken bones. Anything that is complex should be followed by doctors who know you or have your past records.

Trinity Parkway Urgent Care in Stockton, CA 95209

FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE OR VISIT STOCKTON, CALIFORNIAAND NEED URGENT CARE.
I just had the most excellent, friendly, professional, and thorough care at Trinity Parkway Urgent Care Center in north Stockton CA. I thought about writing a review on Yelp until I saw how many business owners were very unhappy with Yelp. So I'm putting this on Sitejabber, which I know is an honest site.
Trinity Urgent Care is located near the Trinity Parkway Shopping Center. I believe its' hours are until 8:30 pm. The website gives the hours of operation and an overview of the busiest times each day.
I had two very complicated issues. I was VERY VERY IMPRESSED with my provider, a NP (Nurse Practitioner), Mary. Also with Don, who first interviewed me and did my X-rays. Everyone who helped me were great. But Mary was unbelievably knowledgeable, and she was so meticulous in my tests, my diagnosis, my treatment plan, and follow-up care! I've been an RN, BSN for over 30 years, and it takes a lot to impress me. Mary did!
Trinity Urgent Care has digital radiology, probably has a link up for blood work, EKG and other testings in the clinic.
Before you leave, a health care person comes to give you printed information of your treatment plan and your follow up care. You can ask any questions then. Upon leaving, I got printed records of diagnosis and treatment, information sheets about each treatment, and a CD of all the X-rays they did! This helps you when you see your primary MD.
My problems were pretty serious, and I was told to follow up as soon as possible with my personal doctor and a cardiologist. Mary was wonderful in all ways. She really knows what she is doing!
I highly recommend TRINITY URGENT CARE FOR THOSE IN OR AROUND STOCKTON, CA.

  • Marpac

10/12/18

About 25-30 years ago, I worked the P.M. shift and slept from about 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Unfortunately for me, our neighbors at that time had two dogs that seemed to bark all night long. I bought a "white noise" machine which blocked out the barking and enabled me to sleep through the barking and street noise. There are many, many white noise machines on the market, but one of the best, at a really low price of under $30, is the Marpac Dohm Dome machine. This is a no frills machine with two settings-loud and low white noise. You can also adjust it by opening or closing the little holes on top by twisting the top so that you get the level of white noise that suits you. I had purchased fancier machines that had sounds like the ocean. I don't know about you, but the ocean does sound peaceful. However, that company adds seagulls quaking at intervals that I guarantee wake me up!
For a basic, effective white noise machine that blocks out sounds so you can sleep, I recommend Marpac! I have a few white noise machines, including an old one that still works over 25 years later!

  • Banyan Botanicals

3/18/18

I became very interested in Ayruvedic practices after I read a book, "Prime". I have numerous serious health problems and decided to get some help, using some of the Ayruvedic therapies. To me, BanyanBotanicals is the best source of products. I have purchased supplements like Triphala, a product from 3 flowers, that is incredible for one's digestive and colon problems. I've also purchased organic powders like Triphala, cinnamon, AShwandagha (which I may have spelled incorrectly since its 3 am), and put them in my protein shakes with great results. I've purchased their lymphatic brushes and gloves, their mouth pulling oils, and many other products. The site has much information on Ayruvedic therapies. All of my orders have arrived in a timely manner, and I've never had even one complaint. I won't buy Ayruvedic products anywhere else, because I have confidence in the quality of Banyan Botanicals.

  • Sephora

2/3/18

I have only shopped at Sephora inside my local Penney's store. I DEEPLY THANK Sitejabber members for telling me to never shop Sephora online. I always rely on reviews, and I do a lot of online shopping, but I will steer clear of online Sephora. The customer service at the store is great, although sometimes a little pushy, recommending a whole lot more of products you didn't think you needed than when you first came in. However, they have many "testers" you can use so that you can see how the products look on you. This is especially helpful for lipsticks. (They have some really great store brand lipsticks.) Nothing is worse than buying a lipstick that's taped shut or from an online picture, and having it look absolutely HORRIBLE on you! I know, believe me, I KNOW! So, if you stick firm to your shopping list, and if you test the products on yourself first, you should be pretty happy. Nothing is cheap, but they do give samples, and the staff is knowledgable.

  • Blick Art Materials

4/19/16

I was incredibly shocked to read so many bad reviews written about Blick Art! I have ordered numerous times and have received my orders quickly and perfectly. I make my own cards and eventually, I want to scrapbook. The blank cards sold are incredible-beautifully heavy paper of many kinds, from watercolor paper to hemp, bamboo, multimedia. Strathmore card paper is one of my all-time favorites. They sell EVERYTHING I need-a huge variety of pens, pencils, markers, adhesives, craft products. The site is easy to handle. If you are someone like me, who makes cards (but I don't paint), order from dickblick.com. I have always been more than satisfied!

  • WebMD

11/23/15

Although I've been disabled and unable to work, I was an RN-BSN (I still am, if you count keeping my license current as being an RN). WebMD's biggest strength in my daily life is that their medication, complementary supplements, herbs, and vitamins are so detailed. That database includes 1. Uses, 2. Potential benefits, based on research, 3. Side Effects, and 4. Interactions, among other things. They are very unbiased.
WebMD sponsors or develops a wonderful site for healthcare workers or laypeople, called Medscape. I can't describe how much you could learn from Medscape, especially if you are a doctor or healthcare worker. It is so comprehensive and peer-reviewed because of the chances for members of Medscape to comment on the articles. As I said, I LOVE WebMD!

  • ThePerformanceLeader

4/15/15

I was looking up a anti-aging product I've never heard of (which Allure Magazine promoted), and I got to theperformanceleader.com site. At first, I thought they were legitimate-they proclaim themselves as specialists in evaluating products and ingredients and whether research studies were performed on these products/ingredients. I found the same problems the first reviewer found back in 2009! There are no credentials of these "evaluators", the "reviews" are few and too good to be true. Then if you click on a product, you get an offer for free samples, and unless you send the samples back to this company, you get monthly or every other month continuing products sent to you and much money taken out of your charge card. I got tricked once by one of these types of sites-but that was a while back and won't happen again. Beware!

  • No7 US

6/4/21

I'm a more mature adult woman, in years at least. In one of those cool sample packs of makeup you can buy once in a while, I came across a remarkable product-Boots No. 7 Pore-minimizing Primer. I have large pores. This product worked so well that it made my skin look flawless! The primer doesn't have any color; it just removes flaws from your face. At my age, which is over 60 years old, I just use the primer and maybe face powder. I don't use foundation. But all the flaws are gone with this remarkable product. I've found that the best prices come from their direct website, even though they may be shipped from Pharmaca or another reputable business. Amazon doesn't often carry the pore minimizing primer. Boots No. 7 also carries a lot of premium make-up products, sometimes with free products as a bonus. I recommend their products highly.

  • Sterlingcandles

12/11/20

I'm way too old to be loving this "ring in a candle" game, but I guess my mind refuses to believe that! I've bought candles with jewelry from just about every site that sells them, but my two favorites are Sterling Candle and Jackpot. Sterling Candles are produced in Canada, but they sell in the USA. Their shipping is $5.95, at least that's what it is for 2 candles. They guarantee that you will get a solid 925 sterling silver ring or necklace valued at $50 to $5,000 in each candle. They include an appraisal code with the jewelry, so you can check what your ring or necklace is supposedly worth. Of course, candle companies get huge discounts on their jewelry, The first 2 candles I purchased from them didn't have as much scent as I would've wanted, but the next two made up for it. Wonderful scent and throw. The candles are soy, and they burn evenly.
I'm including a picture of the two rings I got so far. The peach stone is absolutely gorgeous. The other ring has a stone that shines in the middle, but my phone did not pick it up. These are great candles. They cost around $24.99 each. They last a LONG TIME!

  • Evolve Vacation Rental

12/10/20

We were going to spend a month in New Mexico to help my husband's sister with her many health problems. Since motels are expensive, we decided to rent a house. My husband is the one who contacted Evolve. I don't know if he read reviews before he did. The company promises that someone will inspect the home before the renters arrive to make sure it is all clean and ready. The company talked about the special cleaning precautions they are taking because of covid. They explained that their is a "Partner" or associate nearby with a phone number, and this is the person we should contact if there are ANY problems at all.
We get to the house, and we are flabbergasted at how filthy it is! I'll include some photos. The bath tub was the worst. It was DISGUSTING. There was a cap over the drain, and when I lifted the cap off, it was so gross. There were dead bugs in a drawer I could use. The only closet we could use was stuffed full of stuff on the floor.
So when I tried to call the Partner, an elderly lady's voice greeted me on her message machine all the about 20 times I tried to call. No one ever called back! Finally, about 10 days later, the owner told me that the real Partner got a new phone number, and the number on my packet was his old one!
We made a deal with the company and the owner that she pay for a thorough cleaning of the house, and we would stay. She agreed, so we stayed. She still doesn't know what was so dirty!
Unfortunately, I deleted most of the pictures from my phone, and to my shock, they also deleted the pictures from my iPad! So I only have these two. The disgusting tub and the bug drawer. But believe me, the place was filthy! If you get into a situation like this, the company can either return your money or contact the owner. You and the owner must make a deal, like we did with the cleaning service that she paid for, or if you don't reach an agreement, the company will refund your money.

  • Written-with-love

1/23/20

I found this website when I was about to write a review on Annie Cloth. I wanted to get more information on Annie Cloth. If you check this website out, and YOU SHOULD, you will see why I liked it so much. There is an article here that gives you a fair warning of what online clothes sites to run from and never order from. I ordered from a couple of these places, so I know that she is right! (Zulily and Annie Cloth)
Best of all, she does give clothing sites that she recommends that you DO order from.
We consumers need this kind of help. My iPad is full of ads with clothes that look so good that it's hard not to want to buy them. But will I even get what I order? Probably not, at least not what I thought it would look like. Just read the reviews on "written-with-love.com". And of course, look at the reviews on Sitejabber! We need to protect our wallets, our credit cards, and our data and stay away from websites that try to lure us in by showing pictures of nice clothes that are never sent to us.

  • MyThedaCare

1/23/20

After we moved back to Wisconsin from CA after 31 years (to live by family again, NEVER for the weather), I became a patient/client with mainly doctors from ThedaCare, which I believe is a group of providers, clinics and hospitals in the Wisconsin area. Their patient portal or access tool is "MyThedaCare.org". The computer system they use is EPIC. If you see a ThedaCare physician, YOU NEED TO CREATE ACCESS TO THEIR ONLINE PROGRAM which allows you to make or cancel appointments, message your doctors, view your test results, read healthcare articles, pay bills, and much more. Much more includes electronic visits for certain health problems. You will save a lot of time and money by using myThedaCare. I've avoided making appointments by messaging my doctor. I have several health issues, and some of my specialists are not ThedaCare providers. But I'm able to print out my lab and radiology reports for my specialists to see by using the myThedaCare program. This assures continuity of my care.
I generally use it on my iPad. It's also available on my iPhone and on the computer.
Please take advantage of this program or any other provider/insurance access tool that your providers have. It's one way to keep in touch with your own healthcare and to be a real team player in it.

  • Byrdie

1/11/20

I came upon Byrdie.com when I was researching how to minimize facial pores. (A friend of mine asked me to do this, ahem... It wasn't for myself!). Anyway, I started looking at several of her or his (I don't really know who Byrdie is or if s/he is a group of people) articles, and I found them to be very helpful, interesting, and practical. Byrdie seems to focus on SKINCARE, at least that's what I was seeing. What I liked was that although "she" did recommend some higher priced items, she also listed more bargain brands that did the same thing. She also had many DIY ideas that are truly simple to do. And she also had advice from Dermatologists and experts. It is a really well-rounded site. She mentions parsley water as a pore-reducer and toxin-eliminator in one article. (I say "she" because Byrdie reminds me of a female name and most females are interested in skincare.)
The reason for 4 Stars is that I Usually shop on Amazon, and most of the products that she recommends on her site are from different websites. But that's just me, and it doesn't affect the quality of her articles. She isn't just promoting products. She is actually giving really great skin care advice for all ages.

  • Fragrantjewel

12/16/19
• Updated review

This is an update to my original review of Fragrant Jewels candles with rings or other jewelry. I said that FJ had vastly improved their candles, and that is true. They are very clean-burning candles (soy, usually) in nice looking glass containers. The scents are not heavy, but pleasant.
However, what I don't like is that FJ has taken the surprise out of the rings (or necklaces) inside the candles by showing customers on the website what to expect in each candle and product. When I look at what to buy, I might like the scent and appearance of the candle, but I don't like the rings. Or vice versa.
To me this change has made me so disappointed in Fragrant Jewels that after my present order, I switched to Jackpot Candles. Jackpot Candles' rings are still a surprise.
I had ordered enough from FJ to earn points. That IS one advantage as you can exchange points for jewelry or things like manicure items. But the rings I got from my points were very cheap looking, and I gave them immediately to a thrift store.
So for me I'm giving up on Fragrant Jewels. The surprise is gone. The rings I got are cheap and ugly. The price is high.
I'm switching to Jackpot Candles. From them, in the past, I got a $60 ring that looks so real that I wear it as a wedding ring because my real wedding rings don't fit over my knuckles anymore.

The BEST Ring in a Product Site
11/15/19
• Previous review

I've purchased from other rings in a candle sites, but Fragrant Jewels is the best. The reason I gave only 4 stars instead of 5 is because the products ARE expensive ($26.95 and up for candles, $19.95+ for bath bombs) and you have to purchase $50 to get free shipping.
I guess in order to provide jewelry, they have to be expensive.
Fragrant Jewels has vastly improved their products from years' past. The candles burn cleanly and have a beautiful light scent. The body scrubs melt quickly, but they leave a very moisturizing scented light oil behind. And I believe the jewelry is better. I only care for rings. The latest candle I burned had a very lovely ring, and I included a picture below. I thought I had hit the jackpot, but to my shock I found out the value of this ring was only $10!
You get a code with each ring or piece of jewelry. This enables you to look up the value of the piece and enter into the $10,000 sweepstakes. For each product you purchase, you get points which allow you to buy rewards, which include rings!
I've already purchased two more candles. It's a lot of fun to see what you might get. But they are expensive.
