  • Family Search

I was able to find quite a bit of info on my family and my boyfriends family. However, the info it provides is not always accurate. I searched myself and found a lot of wrong dates and yes It was me because everything else was correct (ie: place of birth, places I lived, parents names... etc). It can be a helpful tool if you are careful to research farther. I do like that I was able to find old u.s. census documents (originals) for my family from 1920-1940. Some other sites make you pay to see those. It is better than the pay sites, but just be careful to make sure some info is actually correct.

This site does give you links to some freebies, however it also gives you links to bad sites that have virus's on them. I spent some time on the site, signed up for a few freebies, but quickly noticed that they want you to sign up to other sites to receive your free stuff. I stopped signing up and only chose the ones from ligit sites. My computer virus protection went crazy a few times as it sent me to some bad sites. So beware and stick to the ones that are ligit, which are the ones that send you to the actual product website. If you join other sites you'll end up with LOTS of junk mail in your inbox.

I spent some time shopping on this site. It's supposed to be used items? I like to shop for Vera Bradley bags and can get great deals on other sites. My last bag cost me $12.00. I couldn't find anything under $35.00 and that was for a small bag. Maybe I don't get it, but it's just not my kind of consignment shop. I'm not willing to risk that kind of money on something already used.

I spent a lot of time at this site and really did not find anything that either worked, or didn't want you to join a million sites which we all know equals tons of spam in your mail box.

  • Scentsy

2/17/18

A family member had a scentsy party and I purchased online because I could not attend in person. I had always heard people talk up the scentsy products, so I thought this was a good reason to finally try it and help her get something out of the party. I ordered a wax warmer and two different wax scents. They arrived in about a week and a half. I opened the boxes and immediately thought the warmer seemed kinda cheap. I also ordered a 'shade' for it and quickly found out while trying to place it in the room I wanted it in, that the way the shad HAD to be put on it, that you couldn't even see the main design of the shade. There is a notch on the shade for the cord which doesn't allow you to turn the shade so the design can be visible where you put it. OK. So I then plugged it in and put some of the wax I ordered in it. Within 10 minutes I was coughing, choking and my throat was sore! I immediately turned it off and had to open the front door to air out the house and it's dead of WINTER! But I had to because I was suffering and freaking out that I might not be able to breath if I didn't get the room cleared. At first I thought maybe it was just that particular scent that was irritating to me, so I cleaned the warmer and put in the other wax that I had gotten. Same thing happened. I said that's enough! Threw out the wax and thought I had just wasted a bunch of money. The next day I was at Dollar General and purchased some wax that they had. I was determined to see if it was the wax or something else. I melted the wax from dollar general and I was just fine. No coughing, no irritation and my house smelled great. I have no idea what is in their wax, but I would be careful and test it first for all family members before you fill up the house with it. Be mindful of it and turn it off immediately if anyone has any symptoms like I did. I really wanted to like this stuff because of all the hype, but I will use my warmer with other waxes.

I shop at wal-mart once a week for grocery's and other household items, this review is on the website only. I like to look up items on wal-mart.com first to read reviews before I purchase some items. The reviews are helpful to a point. Some people leave bad reviews simply because they didn't use the product right. What I find most annoying about wal-mart.com is that the feature for searching to see if an item is available in your store before you make the trip to buy it, does not work. There have been many times that it says 'not available in your store', but it is or visa versa. So you can't rely on that feature at all. I like to leave reviews of items I've purchased and there isn't any place you can go to view your reviews in case you want to go back and update it. You have to wade through hundreds of reviews to try and find yours. They also wont post your review if they don't like it. I've never had a problem with site to store ordering, except when you get there to pick it up, they often take forever trying to find your order.

I do a lot of online shopping at second hand stores. I tried really hard to find something to buy so I could do a complete review on the experience. I just couldn't find anything worth what was being asked. You can get a better deal at other sites for the same items. The ONLY thing that was appealing to me, is that they have the items ready to be shipped. At other sites, such as poshmark, you don't know if you will get what you've bought due to sellers not being active any longer. I will keep trying to see if I can find something I feel is a good deal.

  • JJ's House

2/6/18

My son was married last summer and I ordered two dresses from JJ's. Both dresses were of great quality. I paid extra for custom fit, which was only 20.00, and it fit like a glove. I even had a special request and they called me to talk to me about it. The dresses arrived in one week... AMAZING! If I have to attend a formal event in the future, I will be buying from JJ's without hesitation.

  • Jimmy John's

I really like JJ's sandwiches. The bread is so much better than subway's. When you walk in the staff always says "welcome to jj's" and your order is always ready before you get done paying. Food is always fresh and good. My favorite place to stop when we are in a hurry and need lunch fast.

  • Cracker Barrel

2/2/18

We travel a lot throughout Illinois and often stop at a Cracker Barrel when we can because the food, atmosphere, service and shopping is always the best. I LOVE the french toast and real maple syrup. My mother loves it too, so every year for Christmas I give her a gift card. She's always showing me what cute treasure she's found in the gift store. It's nice because she can either use it on her meal, or buy herself a gift. I wish someone would give me one!

  • Applebee's

2/1/18

We stopped at the Peoria, IL Applebee's we thought everything was fine and great, until my boyfriend saw his bank account. He called them and after waiting 15 min. On the phone with the manager, She told us it was for a tip... they charged his card an extra $15.00 for a tip that he DID NOT APPROVE. He told her we left a tip at the table and she said."sure"... WE LEFT A NICE TIP AT THE TABLE! We always leave a good tip. We will NEVER go to applebee's ever again.

Just another site that takes you to freebies that no longer exist and sweepstakes that want your phone number so you can be berated with calls all day. No thanks. Even the coupon section was a huge disappointment. Same coupons everyone else has. All theses sites are just out to get your phone number and email address so they can harass you everyday.

  • Freeflys

The site is merely a quick list to companies websites who have free samples or give aways. The problem is the links they provide quickly become obsolete as I imagine the company gets a flood of people wanting free stuff. I spent a good hour on the site trying to get something... anything... and ever single link I clicked on, the site was no longer offering that deal. So it was a big waste of time for me.

This is just a site that probably started with good intent, but has attracted the werdo's and low baller's. Just like Craig's list, you have to meet and pick up your items. You have to be careful and be aware that you don't know who you're meeting.

  • Bassproshop

A fun place to shop. It doesn't matter what you love to do... everything from hunting, fishing, boating, camping, grilling and clothes. It's all there. You could spend several hours there and not get tired. They have a bowling alley, restaurant, gift shop with sweet goodies, shooting games and a huge aquarium, not to mention lots of cool taxidermy all over the store. Some things can be a little pricey, so I always try and hit the sales racks and go at the end of a season to find deals. The staff is always friendly and they often have special events. Always a good time when we go there.

  • Mercari

1/31/18

I wanted to try out Mercari because I was becoming more and more aggravated with Poshmark. Sellers not responding, sending dirty items, sending a man's large after advertising it was a woman's large... etc. So I've now ordered 3 items from Mercari. So far... eh... I don't know. The shirt I ordered came very quickly, but there was a small hole in it that was not mentioned in the listing and the size is a not accurate do to washing shrinkage. The second item I ordered it has taken two days for the seller to respond and ship. Which is ok, but it would be nice if sellers check their emails daily so they can respond to questions quickly. The second item has still not shipped so I can't comment on quality yet. The third item I wanted to contact the seller about sizing and I have yet to hear back from them. I'm beginning to wonder if they are even active on the site still. Sooo, much like Poshmark, this site has the same problems and issues. I can't comment on the site itself in helping with refunds or returns, as I haven't had to experience that just yet. I guess like any online 'yard sale' site, you have to be careful and do your homework before buying... then cross your fingers that you actually get it.

This site is really hit and miss. If you get lucky enough to find an actual honest seller, the experience can be great.

I experienced both good and bad sellers over the holiday's. I had recently found the site this past November and decided to make some purchases. I bought 6 different items from 6 different sellers. Half of the items (3) came great, just as described and one lady even threw in an extra little gift. The other 3 were disappointments. I bought a pair of leggings with a cute holiday deer themed print. I know now why there was only one picture of the item folded up... that's because they were a flaw from the manufacturing... on one leg the deer print ran upside down. The seller never mentioned that in the description. The second item was supposed to be a women's size large mossy oak hoodie. It showed a black hoodie with a pink embroidered mossy oak logo. When I received the hoodie it was filthy. Dog hair all over it and it was wrinkled. It looked like someone pulled it out of the dirty clothes and sent it like that. I washed it several times before I attempted to wear it... only to then discover that it was a MAN's size large jersey hoodie that someone used their embroidery machine to put the pink mossy oak logo on. I'm swimming in it! The 3rd item was purchased and I never heard from the seller. The poshmark site did close the purchase for me, but it was very frustrating waiting for it to be sent, contacting the seller and not hearing from them. I think some sellers are very absent and may have even stopped selling but just didn't bother closing their account. I don't know.

Overall it's just a really hit and miss site. I've never been able to 'bundle' any items because a lot of the sellers don't really sell 'their' personal items. So they will have a size large blouse, but when you go to see what other size large items they have so you can 'bundle' and save on shipping... you wont find ANYTHING else in their closet that would fit you. I think a lot of them buy yard sale or second hand store items at random and then try and sell them for nearly new prices. So Buyer beware.

I am embarrassed to say how much I've spent at this site. I will admit that some items were really great and I got a good deal. I shop for items that are rare, unique or very hard to find as well as items I can get a good deal on. Everything went well until I decided I needed a new flat screen tv and thought... hey... why not. So far I've always had a good experience. I saw a smart tv and the description was good. Stated it turned on, but didn't really elaborate on whether all the functions worked. So I thought... eh... what the heck I'll put in a bid. Once I put in a bid, I realized it had a reserve of 200.00. I contacted the store through the message system at the site and asked them if all the functions worked and expressed my concern that they had such a high reserve with very little information on whether it actually fully worked or not. I received a message stating that they were unable to test all the functions and that they would lower the reserve to 150.00. I ended up taking a chance and won the bid. The TV arrived, powered on, turned on netflix and guess what... ZERO sound! Now I can see not being able to test certain things like the smart tv functions but the SOUND!? Anyway... I was able to get around that by plugging in external speakers, but it's still horrible sound. That was my first disappointment with goodwill.

The second purchase I made that was a total disappointment was a brand new, in the original box air fryer. The pictures all showed it still in the wrapping, Styrofoam... etc. So I thought... how can I go wrong here... right? Well, I got the air fryer, plugged it in... and NOTHING! They can't check these kinds of things!? Come on!

The other thing I have recently noticed is that the shipping and handling fees are getting outrageous. When I first started on this site a couple years ago, it didn't seem that bad. I did noticed that the stores closer to my location were cheaper, but I noticed the other day an item that I could ship for less than 5.00 had a handling fee of 4.00 and over almost 30.00 shipping. That put the item well over NEW price from the store up the street. Why on earth would anyone bother? Not ALL stores charge ridiculous prices, but the ones who do are ruining it for the others.

I will admit I've gotten some great deals on things I couldn't have gotten anywhere else, but lately it's getting worse and not worth the bother. I no longer purchase anything electronic and if the shipping and handling is crazy... forget it. I find myself looking at the site less and less now. It's really a shame and turning into a scam!
