The site says the dogs are available, then already adopted but still on the site. The "miles" where the pets are all different for the same pet. The site sends you in circles. No progress. Horrible.
I can't access the website and the app shows zero search results. My girlfriend was able to get on the website at the same time it was working for me, but she sent out three requests for info and hasn't received a single response. It appears that even if their UI was consistently functional, it doesnt matter because of the lack of engagement.
Process is too slow very unpersonable.I'll find my next best friend elsewhere will never use any online rescue again absolutely USELESS👎
I tried to adopt 2 kittens and give them a home with my 2 other cats. What information they want is ridiculous and they take forever to answer you and are expensive. I went to the shelter and adopted 2 kittens and they are not siblings and act like they are though they boys and I have girls at home now over 3 months later everybody getting along well. I will never use pet finder again and I will not recommend it. A good friend tried to adopt a kitten and they never got back to her. Horrible service.
I have learn that if you try to adopt a pet they have no address or phone number. Some rescue like pyrpawsand furry tails and friends are scam.they lead you on never come through
Quality breeders are always involved in rescue but this group is biased against them and thus favors cast off puppy mill dogs that are purchased by rescue groups to resell, dogs that are from Back Yard Breeders, encouraging more back yard breeding, and non-quality breeders that will not stand behind the dogs that they adopt through rescue. All quality breeders have contracts and will willing support other dogs of the breed to rehome them when something happens and one of the dogs comes into their homes and will work to ensure they are placed in a quality home - this is rescue. Quality breeders do not BUY dogs to rehome, they take them in willingly and rehome them at their own expense. Petfinder refuses to acknowledge these breeders as advocates, supports, and rescuers as well so they are missing a key component of dog people that not only support their breeds, protect their breeds, rehome dogs of less quality breeders that are from their breeds, owners of their breeds, and basically are the reason that there are healthy dogs available for people that want them. Unfortunately, it is a biased organization against the most significant and important group of dog people in the country.
I've applied for several dogs that said AVAILABLE on Pet Finder with no response at all! My husband and I own our home and have a nice big yard. We've owned pets for over 20 years and can easily get our Veterinary's recommendation. We are in our mid forties… not too old to own a dog so hopefully it's not that! We're also financially stable so it's not that. What is going on with pet finder? This website needs serious updating! I hope another site comes along for the benefit of all the pets that are looking for a good home!
I couldnt enter the requested information into the website because it would not let me ex out of the cookie notice, very annoying and should've been fix d a long time ago with how long petfinder has been around
I would not recommend Petfinder for anyone looking to adopt an animal. Dominica, the one you can deal with in the Chicago area is very condescending. If you do use Petfinder, ask for someone else but based on the reviews online you should look elsewhere.
PetFinder does serve a purpose. You need to understand that they are only the middle man between you and a shelter/rescue. I finally found a pet through them, but only was able to adopt once I send applications to the rescues direct. Even then my first attempt was horrible. Even MULTIPLE applications resulted zero responses. The pet is still available on the rescue site today. After over 2 weeks later we tried for another dog with another rescue, again thru PetFinder. I had a response within 24 hours. Vet check was already done, home visit took place a couple of days later, meet and greet the pet again after only a couple of days. We had the exact issue with a company called AdoptaPet. Some Rescues/Shelters are simply much better than others. Don't blame PetFinder.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
And Petfinder has proven again and again that they and the rescue groups sponsored there are in it for the money and money earned from advertisers.
I've sent inquiries in reference to several dogs and to several groups not a one ever replied
We have 4 adopted cats and 3 others over the last 20 years. My husband & I are both retired and want to give a dog a good home. There apoption fees are insane. They are not the best way to adopt. Go to your local shelter, these people are a step above a puppy mill!
Years ago got my first dog off Petfinder from a rescue. 2nd dog from animal control and now looking for a 3rd. I'm picky so when I find one that seems to be a good fit I reach out. I've only found 2 dogs on Petfinder and sent out inquires- both times nothing! Silence! Sent a follow up email- nothing! A special happy moment should NOT be ruined because rescues won't get back to you. I'm very frustrated!
This site is very disapointing. Now I see celebrity ads here! Done! Joke! Petfinders.com offers no updates even when you sign up to their site. Still looking for a 10-15lb female dog friendly younger. 5 years or under fur bro or sister to adopt & add to our family. Petfinder is definitely not a consistent reliable or link of truly finding a fur baby. Go to local petsmart/petco on a Saturday or Sunday when local shelters loving bring these babies to the stores & have some sort of history of the baby that needs a fur ever home! Shame on Petfinder seriously fall shirt of what they once stood for.
I had just lost two of my beloved dogs only three months apart! I originally was looking for companion for my surviving dog but when I suddenly lost him was trying to adopt a bonded pair of dogs. The different agencies required a donation before they would consider my application. I checked with my vet and not one had even bothered to check my references. Honestly! We adopted our son 24 years ago and it was a much easier process even with FBI checks. What a bunch of bunk! Do not recommend you waste your time because they don't reply!
I tried to adopt a loving pet! They told me NO because I didn't live in the area! These pups need a home and they said "NO" Isn't this what adoption means… I've been a pup parent for years. Until recently I lost my baby…. The dog that they had reminded me of him… AND THEY SAID "NO"… broke my heart…and they sent me a email in the middle of the night to tell me "No"
Sent multiple emails and even text messages but no one answered. A week later I received an automatic email asking me if I've adopted a pet. Not sure how this company is in business or what their real motive is.
Very rude told to contact Carrie very rude snotty person leaves you hanging then answers questions rudely. Denied adoption for no known reason fenced in yard other pets good reference don't go on this site. Bad news
When looking through Petfinder ads, all you see is Puppy mill suppliers, its an utter shame that Petfinder.com stoops this low to make money, everyone should avoid using Petfinder.com to find a pup in need.
Filled out multiple adoption applications with responses that only confused me, and we're not for the animal I had chosen. One of pet finders decision makers, Karen hasn't a live brain cell left in her head. Perhaps she just needs to have her anal glands expressed!
Answer: Not sure if Petfinders does this but AdoptaPet.com does.
Answer: Tried their services and only got requests to "sponsor" or donate for pets that may have been no-existent but no contact to actually adopt a pet
Answer: The only answer you will ever get is "contact the place/person you got the animal from or who has the animal". NOTHING ELSE.
