The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in its engaging auction format and a diverse range of products that some users find enjoyable and affordable. Many appreciate the responsive customer service, which has been effective in addressing issues and facilitating refunds. However, significant concerns persist regarding product quality, with numerous complaints about receiving damaged or inferior items. Additionally, customers have reported frustrations with order cancellations and difficulties in the returns process. Overall, while the platform offers a fun shopping experience, it must improve product reliability and support to enhance customer satisfaction.

My wife looked at three items. Next thing we know, all three items were charged to us. Stay away from this website.
I have bought at least 12-15 items. They are as beautiful as I hoped they would be. Come on, I don't think everyone has the finances to want to afford the real stuff.
I purchased a green Dell laptop for my son, mainly because his favorite color is green. I received a black laptop thrown in a prioroty box with generic cords. The computer was covered in adhesive. I attempted to request a refund. Seller does not give refunds, therefore I cannot request. I went through the Tophatter customer service to report the item and went on to explain that it was grossly misrepresented. I was sent an automatically generated response telling me to wait 48 hours. That was a week ago. I have since contacted them three times regarding this topic. No response. I also had bid on a bracelet. I won the bid. I received an invoice for a ring. I have sent four messages to try and resolve this matter. I was of course was unable to bid on another item until the "ring" was paid for. That was actually a blessing in disguise. I simply looked on Tophatter to see if there was anything that I was interested in. I wrote down the items and their cost. I then checked ebay, Google and Amazon. Found the $16 dollar earring on EBay for 2.00 with free shipping. Will be contacting attorney to see what can be done about this situation. Ebay was never known for good customer service, but at least purchases are backed and protected. 15 years on eBay and I have only had to contact them 2 times. I guess I will stick to Ebay and Amazon. Oh, as for fragrances, which seem to be the only actual deals on Tophatter, try fragrancenet. Killer prices on designer fragrances. All Tophatter users, proceed with caution and good luck.
I have only ordered from here twice but I received both of my items within a week and both were as expected. The first item I ordered was an Android watch that I got for $15 but with the $5 towards your first order I only paid $10. Works great and looks great. Then I ordered a color changed light bulb with a remote that I got for $7 and that works great as well. I will continue to use the site unless I encounter an issue like some of the reviews I've read and I then will update here. I think a lot of the negative reviews are just because people don't read what they are actually buying.
STUPID ME, SAW THE SIGHT AND JUST STARTED BIDDING, THE STUFF SENT WAS DOLLAR STORE ITEMS. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED, FEELING FOOLISH FOR WASTING MY MONEY.
I ordered more than 30 items... dumb, dumb. Most items are cheap knock-offs from China; many did not work, fell apart, not even close as described... Forget trying to get items returned and refunds. Most of time (95%), just does not happen. Communication takes so long, time runs out; then receive messages such as: did not respond in time, seller does not take return (even when they do not work)! Scam.
Beware! It says 30 protection guarantee! My butt! I've got a notebook with broken keys and it's not recognizing the battery AND it was listed as having Windows10! It's got Windows 7 Professional and they say it's NOT refundable? Went straight to the credit card company! I've sent the seller and Tophatter several messages but nobody is answering! Run don't walk away from this site.
I purchased 15 items in one week from Tophatter. Only 14 items were delivered so I contacted them. Not once, not twice but THREE times. They refused to refund my purchase price saying it shows being delivered and said that if it wasn't delivered to me then I should go door to door in my neighborhood to see if one of my neighbors received it.
Sorry, I'm disabled and don't go out. I'm unable to go door to door. I found them to be extremely unprofessional and will NEVER purchase another item from them. I would recommend you stop purchasing too or you could be next!
Hello, we are sorry you had an issue with one of your fifteen items. Shipping is very important to Tophatter. We require every seller to provide a tracking number. This product showed by USPS as delivered. Please let us know if we can help further.
The earrings are beautiful. I received them earlier than estimated date of arrival. The merchandise is always of great quality., Love shopping on this site. Have recommended it to friends.
I didn't read the reviews before I got sucked in. Merchandise is not the same as described and electronics do not work. DO NOT waste your time and money on TopHatter. Horrible!
I have bought several pieces of jewelry from this site marked as worth $1040. CAD & laughed when I saw them because they are nothing that I would have paid more then the auction/mail price. That said, the items are your moneys worth & usually nice tho' the stones are often pale or dusky, which means they are of poor quality. If you are buying white topaz this does not matter. I do suggest that you purchase sizes larger than you need as these come from the east, ie: Korea, China, Japan, etc. where people are much smaller in stature.
I DECIDED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT WITH TOPHATTER BECAUSE ONE: IT HAS BEEN CLOSE TO A MONTH SINCE I ORDERED MY PRODUCTS AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEM... AND TWO: TWO OF THE PACKAGES THAT I ORDERED AND PAID FOR BEFOREHAND, NEVER ARRIVED TO MY HOUSE, AFTER I RECEIVED TWO FALSE NOTIFICATIONS THAT THEY HAD BEEN DELIVERED, I CONTACTED TOPHATTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SELLER WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR MY UNDELIVERED PACKAGES AND JUST ASSUME THAT A NEIGHBOR STOLE THEM... SO, I WASTED A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY ON ORDERS THAT I NEVER ACTUALLY RECEIVED... NOT TO MENTION, THE PRODUCTS I DID RECEIVE WERE VERY POOR QUALITY AND HAD SURFACE SCRATCHES ON THEM... THEY LOOKED AS THOUGH THEY HAD BEEN USED AND THEN RESOLD BY THE TIME IT HAD GOTTEN TO ME... THAT IS VERY BAD BUSINESS AND IT IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO LOSE LOYAL AND GOOD CUSTOMERS LIKE MYSELF. I WILL NEVER ORDER ANYTHING ELSE FROM TOPHATTER AGAIN. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE ELSE CONSIDERING BUYING FROM TOPHATTER TO GOOGLE THEM AND CHECK WITH THE BBB FIRST. HORRIBLE FRAUDULENT SITE!
I bid on a mini iPad and won, paid for it and never received it. Spoke with tophatter as well as the seller. Tophatter informed me that they investigated my case and approved me for a refund, never got it. I then spoke with the seller who told me that it was shipped to the wrong address... how in the world is that my fault. In the end I am out money and not to mention his was a gift for my son. Will never deal with this foolishness again. Not saying that all sellers are bad but this crap just makes me not want to deal with any of them.
I purchased a ring that was sent back. I didn't know this but they turned around and refunded me to a card that I no longer have. I have heard nothing from the seller or tophatters since they fefunded my money to a card I no longer have nobody contacted me before this was even done. Very bad customer service
Their caption is Most addicting site. There is no such word. It's Addictive for one! Everyone says it's a scam so I'll believe them!
I wish I had read reviews before I bought anything, Tophatter is such a scam, you really do get what you pay for! They list items for unrealistic prices; you bid, you win at a cheap amount and when you receive them they aren't worth the cheap price you paid!
I got scammed especially on a 1942 Mercury dime they had it listed at $99.00 I paid $25.00 plus $9.00 shipping ( didn't see that) found out you can get it for $1.39 tried to get a refund and was told I couldn't it was non refundable.
BEWARE, BE SMART DON'T YOU GET SCAMED LIKE MANY OF US DID!
I ordered a few items on a spending frenzy. Very disappointed. The items were cheap. One item was not even what was described. I was told I was not eligible for a refund. I had one item I had bid on, the site wouldn't not allow me to pay. It gave me no option to pay. I contacted them with the issue but never got a response. Then they sent me emails every day telling me to pay for the item. But atill no respknse. I'm donexcited with that site.
Please note customer service/customer support (as they refer to it) is essentially non-existant and a joke! They'll keep opening and closing support tickets without doing anything. If an item is misrepresented, either description or value or item is not delivered customer support will not override seller's position. If seller decides item is non-refundable (even though non-disclosed) customer support does not override seller. So if you have money to burn and you prefer "pass on frustration" I would suggest you just throw your $$$$ out the window the outcome will be same.
This company shouldn't exist. It's all fine and dandy if you don't have an issue. It's been months since I didn't receive an item I ordered and paid for. Have sent several inquiries regarding my open case with no resolve. How much work do I need to do to get my $9 back? Not worth the time - perhaps that's what they are counting on. The seller had the nerve to ask me to reverse my negative report because they never responded to my issue. I explained the issue to them, and they still ignored me. What a rip off company with no responsibility!
Answer: There is also the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION that can help with these types of problems
Answer: You have to read the descriptions. It will tell you if it's real or plated.
Answer: Do not deal with this company,,, all jewelery is crap n cheap
Answer: Tophatter will screw you over. Shop Amazon or overstock.
Answer: Good luck! Tophatter rippes off the sellers so they are not going to be very likely to return your money.
Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
Answer: Yes! Sale of counterfeit items is prohibited. If you are concerned about the authenticity of an item purchased on the platform, you may return it for up to 30 days from delivery. See full details on our return policy here: http://tinyurl.com/h7xokwj.
