  • Amazon Prime

7/4/15

AmazonPrime has transformed the shopping (and viewing) experience. And for the consumer, mostly for the good.
However, you must pay attention as you may be tempted by other vendors who offer the same product, on the Amazon website for a lower price, including shipping.
Often there are hidden costs when it comes to returns.
These can e buried in "About Us" info about the vendor.
I was surprised by a fee for restocking (10% of the cost of the merchandise) that when added to the shipping, came to almost $20!
To their credit, when I contact the vendor and expressed displeasure, the fee was taken off, but Amazon should not host vendors who are not front and center with these policies.
AmazonPrime is another story-great service-just keep in mind that when you wander from Prime, you must be very, very careful about the fine print!

  • jetBlue

7/3/15

JetBlue used to offer great prices and uber-comfortable human- size seats. Now, pricing is in line w/ all the rest (and, we are learning why-collusion), and seats have been changed to the narrow squeeze found in the other "Big Boy" carriers. Buying "extra room" only buy you the ability to drop your tray table without slicing your gut (just like the others), not any normal size width in a seat.
So, sorry JetBlue, you are no longer my first stop when shopping for flights, you are just part of the ordinary (and miserable) pack.

  • WinterSilks

7/3/15

As many have said, this company has changed dramatically in the past years. Both quality, sizing and styling has changed, and not for the better.
But, of most concern is the VIP automatic charge that you might be assessed if you are not careful.
It is something that happens when you follow some clicks during online ordering. Without realizing it, you may authorize this charge. I was able to get the charge removed after filing a complaint, but it should not have happened in the first place.
I suspect all these changes are a result of the consolidation of a number of companies use the "Blair" name-whatever that corporate entity that is.
The business practices we are now seeing are probably the result of consultants advising how to increase the profit margin, without regard to impact on product and subsequent customer loyalty.
Thanks to SIteJabber, and social media, we have put some (just a little) power back in the hands of the consumer!

  • Apple

5/27/15

Apple has led the way on creating a shopping environment that is very customer friendly.
My only com[laint is the revisions to the Genius Bar and the elimination of classes, except for those who have just purchased a product.
And, the quality of repairs can be problematic-it varies dramatically from str to store.
Hopefully, Apple will get its act together in the that department.

  • Target

5/27/15

For fashion, Target has up-to-date clothing of questionable quality. But, if you cycle things in and out, every season, it's not bad.
Bedding and linens are fine, as are many of the other departments... pretty good one-stop-shopping.

  • LL Bean

5/27/15

Great products-reliable sizing and quality.
Great return policy.
Maybe not so exciting, but basics don't get any better than this.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond

5/27/15

A great place to find many household items, but organization of store and displays make the shopping experience a potential traffic accident and/or headache producing event. Layouts make no sense except to make you walk through EVERY department to get around... but, for me, it does NOT induce me to pick up more, but rather to race that cart around the floor and get the heck out of dodge!

  • Macy's

5/27/15

The rating was 'average" because that is the average of my Macy's experience.
Different parts of the country have different stores-hard recognize the Macy's in Pentagon City, VA as the same store in Burlington MA.
The MA store has notoriously held up shipping for weeks, over- or under-charged, and been a dirty mess.
It has recently completed some renovation, but it hasn't renovated sales personnel.
VA and the Minneapolis store are another story-lovely, great displays, staff, etc. etc... that is why I ranked Macy's as "average."
The score was an average!

  • Sears

5/27/15

Stores are often in shambles and sales personnel few and far between.
Land's End has given it a boost, but can this patient be saved?
It would be a shame to lose such an American icon of retail.
(My first house was a Sears kit house!)

  • ELOQUII

5/27/15

I ordered a couple of cardigans from this site-supposedly for those size 14+.
I ordered a size that fits from most mainstream brands and stores (Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Talbots).
The sweaters were a nice fabric and construction, and moderately (not cheap) priced, but at least one size off (small).
I had been several business trips on my schedule so I set the package aside to deal with when I returned home (1+ months on the road).
When I went to return the sweaters, and order another size, I learned that the return police for this company is 30 days! This is highly unusual and I contacted them.
They confirmed -30 days, period.

BUYER BEWARE.

Given that you can get the same quality and pricing at Nordstrom's sales, and have an unlimited time to make returns, I recommend you stick to tried and true, unless Eloquii makes a dramatic turn-around in policy

  • WeightWatchers

5/26/15

WW is the ONLY program that has worked for me! Attending programs is key to success, for me.
I slowly but surely dropped 25 lbs-1 lb/week, without starving.
It was simple to understand, allowed for just about anything, as long as you balanced it out, and it was also inexpensive.
When I stopped going to meetings, 15 lbs crept back, so now, I am back to weekly weigh-ins + meetings, and I know success is again, in my future.

  • StopDropAndRelax

5/12/15

Comphy Co sheets, avail. Through Stop Drop and Relax, are phenomenal.
I discovered them at my local spa, and finally asked for brand info.
I am gradually replacing all sheets throughout my home with these.
They launder beautifully, and are heavenly soft.
The company that sells them online, Stop Drop and Relax are reliable.
What's not to like?!

  • Nordstroom

5/12/15

It is so nice to have a great store, with great customer service and products-always reliable.
I discovered Nordstroms when we were given a gift from a store in another state.
We did not have a Nordstroms in our state at that time.
So, the box, with never worn, still tagged clothes, sat on a shelf, and 5 years later, a Nordstrms came to town.
I had heard about their return policy, so, I thought it never hurts to ask.
And, they took the clothes back!
My next great experience was shopping for shoes-I was trying some Jimmy Choos-very expensive.
I loved them, but they were a bit snug.
I asked the salesman (who knew me by now) about having them stretched.
He said he would NOT like to sell me a pair of shoes, at that price, that needed to be stretched.
My next experience that "sealed the deal" was when shopping for a wedding dress with my now-daughter-in-law in the DC area.
The salesperson made it an entirely stress-free experience, unlike the 10 other shops we had visited.
And, the dress we loved turned out to be $400, not $4,000 or $14,000!
Wow-need I say more?

  • Costco

5/12/15

Excellent products, great customer service, a happy employees because it is a great place to work.
We've eve bought cars through Costco-almost over the phone, w/no sales push at all-genius.
Now, I'm told they offer get rates on rental cars.
A great, great company.

  • Jollychic

5/12/15

Product looked great in photos, prices were unbelievable, ordering process was simple, and then...
It took forever for products to arrive. They bore no semblance to photos, quality of fabric was very poor, and fit was worse. Sizing is a puzzle.
The return process-to China-is a work in progress... expensive and, I am sure will take forever.
I await to see about actual refund.
Nowhere in the ordering process are you told you are dealing directly with a Chinese company.
And, now my computer is infected with flashing ads from this company, non-stop!
