  • Walgreens

1/13/11

Extremely reliable in terms of shipping and getting what you asked for at a much reduced priced as compared to buying from your doctor (at least that was my experience). I know this is one of the most reputable companies online so I trusted them and costco didn't have the brand I wanted.

  • Chowhound

4/20/10

Now that everyone knows that Yelp is a totally fake site with fake reviews and business are finally suing yelp, I have been using Chowhound to find the best places to eat. Very solid reviews and the people on the site are real and not plants by business owners and competitors. Just real reviews by real people... unlike yelp. Yelp's new tag line should be fake reviews by fake people.

  • World of Warcraft

8/18/09

Do you want to have no social life in the real world? Want to meet hot elf girls (really guys) and kill the lich king? If you start playing this game you will never stop... ever... Blizzard will own you. Nevertheless, it is probably more fun than sex, so just play it...

  • Fry's

8/7/09

Who just doesn't love Fry's electronics? Great return policy and cheap taiwanese knock offs for almost every electronic item out there makes this the place to shop. Forget overpaying at Radio Shack or office depot, buy all of your supplies at Fry's and you know you are getting a fair price.

  • Gamefly

Renting unlimited games for as long as you want is so much better than buying a game. Your average game is like 60 bucks and that can get you almost 5 months of unlimited game rentals. I did like the other person here suggested and cancelled my membership almost immediately and did get a steep discount on their monthly fees. You can also buy games at a much reduced price with their reward points.

  • Swords

8/3/09

Anyone who goes to renaissance faires needs a sword and a big old suit of armor. This is the best site I have found for buying medieval weapons such as swords, axes and even halberds. They have a wide selection of armor, plated and chainmail too. Prices are great but you will need to sharpen the sword yourself as for some reason it is illegal to sell sharpened swords I guess. Odd given that you can buy a loaded shotgun but you can't buy a sharp sword. They have a great facebook fan page too and you can read up on all of the local events near you where you can actually wear your suit of armor and bring that two-handed sword without people flipping out.

  • Glubble

Fairly simple to use internet browser for children. I am not sure why larger companies like microsoft or mozilla have not built something like this for their users. Children of all ages are using the internet now and could use their own browser. Glubble for now is the best one out there.

  • RED Digital Cinema

11/6/08

Red will dominate the DSLR market... just wait and see - For those of you who are not familiar with Red, it is a new video camera that shoots HD video that has taken Hollywood by storm. The founder of the company, Jannard, made his first billion by being the founder of Oakley sunglasses and a few years ago he went into the camera business. His video cameras are upgradable and far less expensive than what is typically made by the old school companies. Other digitial video cameras cost in the 6 figures, but Red put out a model that is better and it was only around $17-20K. Movies such as Jumper and upcoming movies like Angels & Demons (Tom Hanks) have all been shot on Red.

So, why is this a big deal for photography? Because they are releasing this month a new DSLR "killer". Imagine this... a DSLR/video camera... you can use your existing lenses, but on a new platform. Imaging shooting video at something like 10MP at 24fps. You could go back and then just pick one of the still shots to develop in RAW as your "keeper". You would never miss a shot again. Imagine never having to upgrade your sensor, because all you do is pop it out and replace it with a new and improved sensor. Here are a few articles as teasers. I am a believer and can't wait to see what is in store for us consumers. Canon, Nikon and Sony will have a new American competitor... finally. Leave it to the Oakley sunglass king to show them up.

  • Blackle

10/23/08

Don't use google, use blackle and save our planet - Okay so blackle.com is just google with a black screen, but it save so much energy the entire world should change to use it. DO IT NOW! BOOKMARK IT AND STOP USING GOOGLE!

  • Backdrop Outlet

10/20/08

Great place for get backdrops for portraits - I have used this place for years and they always have good deals and quality material for backdrops. If you join their email list they will send out specials and those are great deals as well.

  • VelaShape

6/3/08

Is this Velashape for real? Is it FDA approved? - I saw this on that Kardashian show and it looked like it works. Sounds better than plastic surgery. Anyone know a good price for this procedure?

  • Soocool

5/21/08

If you are a photographer in the bay area this is the community to join - Michael Soo runs an excellent community of very friendly photographers who love to share their information.

  • CostHelper

5/15/08

Great place to find information on healthcare services - Wanted to investigate the cost of getting some elective plastic surgery and this place was a great resource at helping me figure out what the "real" cost would be before going in for consultations.

  • Match

1/16/08

The premiere dating website - I think this is probably the best dating site out there, purely because it has such a large number of people to sort through. I also like the quality of the people on the site. Most are very real people and not just looking to have fun. These are people who are really looking for a relationship and it is great that you can screen them ahead of time. I will admit that there were a number of people who didn't look quite like their photo, but it wasn't that far off. I have tried dating on CL, and usually it ended up badly. Lots of flakes on CL. But I have always been rather impressed by the match.com people. Definitely worth signing up for their 6 month deal. Guys, my 2 cents is to just put down the higher income bracket, I initially put down a lower amount of money and found the girls would more likely go out with me if I just put down the higher bracket. And, hey, someday I'll make that much...

  • Crutchfield

11/5/07

Great buys on HDTVs and other electronics - This company is large enough that they will occassionaly offer really good deals. My favorite thing is to get their catalog... if you are considering buying a new Plasma/LCD TV, just ask for their catalog and you can see all of their latest deals.

They do have periodic email offers, so if you sing up for their mailing list you may find something you want someday for really cheap.

  • AVS Forum

11/4/07

Great source of knowledge - started by some great guys who really know home theater, this is a valuable resource for AV gear. I have even bought a screen from them in the past and delivery was perfect.

  • Blue Jeans Cable

11/4/07

Best place for HDMI or component cables - If you are looking for long DVI, HDMI or component cables, this is the place to buy them. Get there here rather than from some guy who is installing your HDTV, you'll save some $$$

  • Projector Screens by Stewart Filmscreen

11/4/07

Best screen for your home theater - When you buy a front projector you need a good screen. In fact, the screen is just as important as the projector. Most people put all of their money into the projector and ignore the screen, but the reality is that the screen is just as important as the projector. Do not skimp on the screen. Stewart is the leading manufacturer of screens and this is the company you want to buy from. Using the latest technology they are able to make screens that show the deepest blacks, which of course is the hardest thing to do

  • ProjectorPeople

10/31/07

Great place to buy a Projector online - Okay here is the deal... never ever buy a front projector at a store... they are rip offs. You go to your local home theater store to LOOK at the projector and see which one you like. There is a difference between DLP, LCD, LCOS and once you decide which one you like the most... then you go online and find that projector for cheap. These things are not big TVs which require deliver. They are nice and small and perfect for online shopping.

This is one of the best stores out there for front projectors and these guys know their stuff. They can also help you choose the right screen for your PJ and can help you decide what PJ can fit your room set up.

  • VidOn.me

10/29/14

I will not go into detail about any copyright laws or how people can rip blu rays (even 3D blu rays) and play them on this player. I just wanted to write about how well designed this product is and how all products should really follow this model. If you haven't heard of Vidon.me or the vidon products, just begin by downloading their free app on android or your iphone. Simply put this hardware device can stream literally any video format to your HDTV, tablet or mobile device. You can even turn your PC into a server for the vidon.me media streamer. It only costs $99 can you can stream pretty much any ripped blu ray disc to your HDTV. The best part is this way you can maintain your entire blu ray experience. Using the vidon.me server you can even stream your blu rays to mobile devices and it transcodes on the fly. Anyone who has dealt with the problem of transcoding mp4s to be playable on a wide variety of devices will appreciate the ability of vidon.me to do this on the fly. If you are considering picking up a vidon.me player, then I would recommend getting the bundle from dvdfab as they often have a deal where if you buy both together it is cheaper. You will need a dvd/blu ray ripper anyways in order to get the most out of your vidon.me player.
