Uses fake advertising. In my case, they pretended to be someone looking for a room on Craigslist then told me they already found a place but oh you must try easyroommate.com. Disingenous and dishonest advertising practices. No trust here.

They advertise one month free following paid membership if you failed to rent, then that offer disappears and they want you to pay again. Most of the replies to my ad were scams. When I wrote and complained I'd get a generic response only to have the same scammers reply again and again. Horrible waste of my money.

Fake tenant profiles set to appear to make a busy website full of tenants, quite the contrary. Its a very very quiet website, I would be surprised to even get one enquiry. I paid several times and never got a response from this website. They have no refund policy unlike spareroom. Tenants on easyroomate are either fake or not actively looking. You will waste your time and money on this site.

The upgrade to Premium Membership is merely a contact option that grants the user unlimited contact on the website to allow the search to be more efficient and effective. I would like to remind you that the users are in total control of their search and the key to being successful on our website is by being pro-active in your search. The more messages you send out to your matches the higher the chances of finding what you are looking for! I just signed up with easy roommate and very quickly learned that I signed up for a scam. The people on the site are 99 percent fake and after googling their pictures they show up as legit people which identity is stolen or misused. I contacted them to report several scam pictures, however, the next day I still found them in my email box. I was being so dumb... to think that any roommate want's to pay over $2000 was being naive on my part. I had to cancel after two weeks... do not go there

I found 0 people that I would rent to on this site. The one person that showed interest was out of the country and wanted the place in two months. Can you say SCAM. I finally found a tenant on the free site that I have used in the past. It's not always the best option but at least it is free and people are actually in the area and come by to take a look at the place unlike the easyroommate website.

I am a landlord, had paid for 1 month premium membership; Sent slightly more than a hundred of emails to the profiles but only less than 10 had viewed and 0 response.
This shows that the tenant profiles are too little or inactive.
Upon 2nd week of subscription, had asked for refund but no avail.
A complete waste of time and money!

Paid the money, got access to contact people straight away.
2 weeks of fruitless searching, a fair bit of time and effort.
3 Stars because there doesn't seem to be fundementally wrong with the site, just that I got no result out of it. I'd give it another shot if I was in a position to use it again.
For better success include photos, even of yourself. Success probably really depends on market conditions (ie how many people are looking for housemates compared to rooms available).

You can set up a profile (for a housemate or flat) for free, under the guise that you will be able to chat with prospective housemates or people with rooms.
But you CAN'T without wasting money on their "premium" service.
(Almost ALL other sites don't charge for this).
It's not a premium service, it's their service, there is no free service.
I call this false advertising of the very worst kind.
Moving house is horrible, especially somewhere like London.
This site preys on our misfortune.

I have emailed them several times and they keep saying their website works but it doesn't. I keeps telling you to upgrade when you are already upgraded. None of the members on the list shows as they have premium membership. Only basic membership. No one's contact no. You can view. Half their links doesn't work correctly. Top if off I had a potential roommate email me from roommate long story short they sent a long email about the life story and how their dad past away a week ago and mother died 7yrs ago. Wanted to know how much to move in and how to transfer the money. I replied knowing this might be a scam by overstating the rent money and bond ie. $4000 bond and $4000 per month rent and she needs to transfer $8000. Then she replies back with worse sad stories how there's dispute with her Will etc and if she could give me a token if I transferred $15K and she will pay be back when she come to Australia.
Then I had another person saying they are interested when their profile states they are looking in Brisbane and I am living in Victoria. Things just doesn't add up with this site. I have already got the bank to investigate on them as I paid for their premium membership. PLEASE PLEASE do not waste your money.

The first issue you mentioned whereby you keep being prompted to upgrade even though you have paid already is solely a browser issue when utilizing Internet Explorer (due to an existing compatibility issue). Using alternative browsers such as Google Chrome or Firefox would allow you to use the website smoothly and get in touch with all your matches without any restrictions.
As for the phone numbers, as a Premium Member yourself you have the option to display your number on your ad for all the users to view or you can choose to hide this. This option is the same for all users and thus for the users who have chosen to display their phone number you will be able to view this but for the ones who have chosen to hide this you would have to first get in touch with them through the website’s messaging system. This is usually due to privacy/security purposes.
I am so sorry that you’ve been contacted by such a scammer on our website, we do have a Moderation Team in place that tries their best to ensure a safe environment for our users. When I emailed several times to their email adress, I received zero response.
Requested for refund but they couldn't do it.
Don't use the website. Go use gumtree or craigslist.

I'm sorry if you were unable to locate your ad on the site and we're glad we were able to sort this misunderstanding out on the phone. What happened is that whenever you edit your advert on the site it goes straight to the moderation process and that takes about an hour time maximum. While the ad is being reviewed you will not be able to locate it on the site. Your ad is live and active on the site, and we have also restarted your membership again for free to make up for the confusion and inconveniences caused.

Every time i ran out of payment i got a person interested. The price is way to high! Someone (30+ professionals would come to have a look and then never heard of them again! Not even answering their phones. Making me think they think they get commission to view rooms. And then juuuust to find a other to have emailed me also being a professional being 30+ and driving a normal car but in NEED of a room. Think its a SCAM!

We do send daily matches to your email to ensure that you stay up to date with all the new potential tenants that have just signed up. This list is based on the search filters which you applied on your ad's search page.
The members that you have contacted are users just like you. They have created an account looking for a room to stay in. They are no way connected with us in any matter except they have created an account on our website.
The people who visited your room might prefer to check multiple rooms first before committing to one or they might have been interested after viewing this room.
Also, I would like to add that as part of our satisfaction guarantee policy we offer a free extension for plans up to 30 days. All you need to do is contact us after your membership expires and we will be glad to activate it for you.
I would like to ensure you that our website is not a scam and if you need assistance do not hesitate to contact the customer support team and I am sure they will assist you.
This site allows users to use a default profile "Hi my name is zxyz. I have a budget of $abc dollars per week. Other sites I use give me much more information. I don't want to contact people who are in no way suitable for our home. I contacted easyroomate and they were hostile. They say "We can't make people write detail". While I understand this, flatmates.com clients give much more detail and this encourages me to contact more people. Obviously, flatmates.com have a way of encouraging prospective tenants to share more information. I also note my "matches" are looking for accommodation in Sydney or Melbourne. The home is in Brisbane. I don't think these matches really work given the geography of Australia.

I believe this is a scam website. The website does not work well. It keeps frozen and not easy to swip pictures. Most likely, the site is maintained by an unskillful programmer. All profiles look suspicious. Its set up to scam landlords who are hoping to find the right tenants.

I was displeased when I dealt with scammers on a site that was supposed to be for pay. If I'm going to pay money, I want to know that I am receiving some sort of service beyond what Criagslist offers.
I decided to continue watching the site to see if the listed rooms change, or if any new ones are posted. They are not. It is the same rooms over and over again.

Roomgo is the least efficient accommodation service in the market. Their website is stuffed with pseudo flatmates who will never contact you because, contrary to the false information supplied below, flatmate ads are only checked when they are about to expire fortnightly. The website is so poorly designed that couples and even whole families are listed for SINGLE ROOMS & contrary to NZ law, neither same-sex nor disabled flatmates are identified. This is because the so-called 'matching' is done by price alone. Basically the site is a scam and you may consider contacting your ISP to get it blocked. But they charge a lot & their system involves a 'ratchet' feature where prices must constantly increase. They don't care, for they are only interested in $$$, not service. They offer nothing useful to potential flatmates & the lazy IT blokes who set it up will not modify the ridiculously complex website despite numerous complaints. Their management are only interested in tax-free $$ and their operations in NZ are basically illegal, with no compensation available to frustrated flatmates, as is required by law. They do not offer FULL BOARD where that is clearly expected. They are inflexible, inefficient and unreliable, with flatmate emails taking up to 21 hours to reach you. Avoid their false advertising!

Before I paid, I couldn't find out that they have very few people looking for tenants in my city, and I live in a large city. And then after I paid, I got only three or four inquiries and zero rentals, over a TWO month period, even though I have a killer location. I get more inquiries than than from Craigslist in a day, and they are free!
I got a few other inquiries, but they were all scammers. I even took the time to initiate contact to some people on the list, but no one bothered to even answer, so not sure if they are real or shill tenants.
All in all, this site is a scam.

When you create your account and post your ad, you get to see all of your matches for free without having to pay, as the site is free to use and the payment is linked to the contact options only. It's not linked to the quality or quantity of your matches, as these latter are related to your ad criteria and can only be controlled by you!
I understand your frustration at not receiving enough interests in regards to your room offer, but, our customers independently manage their accounts, the advertisers they’d like to contact and the room they want to live in.
Your matches may not check your emails right away, therefore we advise you to ring those who have provided a phone number for a quicker reply, and please be assured that none of our members are “shill tenants” or bogus, providing a reliable service is our goal and that's why we have established a system that deactivates each unavailable ad within 15 days of the last update.
We aim to satisfy the needs of our members, that's why you have been given a free month right after the expiry of your membership to help you have another chance contact the members on the site and find a suitable tenant. However, the membership does not guarantee you a tenant, it's a method that helps you get in touch with your matches but if these latter have better or cheaper offers on the site they might not get back to your offer. For this reason, our customer support team have emailed you and tried contacting you over the phone to offer help but to no avail.

I got a response from a potential landlord I found on Easyroommate.com and was totally scammed out of $300.00! Then the potential landlord had the audacity to try to scam me out of $400.00 more and THEN try to present me with another scam claiming they would send me $400.00 if I provided them with a $1400. 00 invoice. When I reported this to Easyroommate, there was nothing but an, "I'm sorry, but Oh well." Please, folks, beware!

Please note that to contact an advertiser you can either send an interest message (automated message expressing interest in a particular ad) or send a personalised message. As a Basic Member yourself you can only contact and be contacted by the Premium Members (they appear in your search page in blue), they are free to contact and you can just go ahead and send them messages to make further inquiries.
However, communication between you and other Basic members is somewhat restricted on the site, you can only send interest messages to each other indeed, you cannot carry the conversation any further unless one of you upgrades to a Premium Member. Unfortunately, this is how the contacting system on our platform is designed and functions.
Thus, the Premium Membership would in turn grant you unlimited contact to all the users on the website without any restrictions at all Mark.
