Very legit looking and feeling website - but it's a complete scam! They ask you to pay a deposit of $500 and say it's refundable... they almost had me until they asked me to go to a moneygram place!
The company responded to my review below incorrectly. They claim they are taking action but they still continue to list a landlord who regularly makes up lies, threatens, and robs tenants. We now know 10 people she has done this to.
We sent their contact info to Easy Roommate and they refuse to contact them or believe multiple stories.
In their response below they claim to be interested in contacting other tenants, but they are not. They are insinuating we are all lying and for some reason want to list a landlord who forces tenants out for no reason, scares them and takes their money
The police helped us to get half our money back but not all. We spent hours trying to get a police report but to officially get it, we would have to go to court for multiple days and then wait 3-4 weeks for the report
This site continues to list houses which are run by criminals. They know it and they continue to list.
Air bnb, Craiglist, Faceboon Groups, and local housing agencies all banned this landlord BUT EASY ROOMMATE has all the evidence and does nothing
Please be aware that if anything bad happens to you through houses they list, they wont help or support unless you have official police reports, which in many countries can be hard to obtain.
Do not use Bitcoin for anything related to renting, it is a scam! Scammers got my informTion from this site and contacted me directly! I lost $400 today.
Thank you for your feedback Katy,
First and for most I'm sorry if you have been a victim of a scam and I'd like to take this opportunity to clarify Easyroommate's position regarding your concerns.
Indeed, unfortunately, in rare cases, scammers use our name and logo to contact and prey on Members and non-Members of the site. We are not an agency, we are a classified site and we will never text or email you to book a viewing, organize a key delivery or collect a rent and deposit payment.
The only people representing our firm are our customer support team, and they can only contact or be contacted using the contact options available on this page: https://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/article/283-the-customer-service-team
Any other email addresses are just fake and belong to fraudsters who claim to be part of Easyroommate. To bring awareness to our users and help them stay safe, we have dedicated a whole section on our website FAQS to scams and safety and we also send safety tips via email to all of our users where we clearly advise them not to wire money and not to make any financial agreements with anyone they haven't met in person.
We are extremely sorry you had to go through this unfortunate experience as part of Easyroommate and if you can contact us at victoria@easyroommate.com we'd be glad to help you further.
Thanks again for your feedback.
Created account and payed for premium and seconds later it states inactive contact Victoria OMFG none of their numbers work! All circuits are busy
I was contacted yesterday (11/2/17) by someone working with easyroommate.com offering to show me a studio apartment in an upscale area of Chicago for a monthly rent far below what I thought would be a market rate for the area, which immediately made me a little suspicious, but otherwise he seemed OK. He told me that all I would need to do to hold the apartment would be to transfer the $500 security deposit to a Bank of America account, but I told him that I would not be able to do so until the following Monday or Tuesday, which he did not say one way or another would be a problem. We made arrangements to meet there this afternoon. I e-mailed him again early this morning to ask again if the delay would be a problem, and a few minutes later I received an a-mail from a *******@easyroommate.com informing me that I would need to make the transfer to a Bank of America account owned someone with an African name within six hours or the booking would be canceled. She also told me that the person who contacted me was a "verified landlord' with their service, even though their site clearly says that they do not represent or maintain a registry of landlords, "verified" or otherwise. The requirement that the payment be made before even seeing the apartment and signing the rental agreement made me even more suspicious. An Internet search for information on the site revealed that it is notorious as a source of rental scams, and it became very clear to me at that time that the contact I had received was fraudulent. I could not imagine a legitimate rental offer would require making any payments until the prospective tenant had seen the apartment and a rental agreement had been executed. I declined to pursue the rental any further.
Thank you for your feedback, Daniel.
We're sorry to hear that you were contacted by a scammer and we appreciate this opportunity to address your concerns!
Unfortunately, some scammers use our logo, name and fake email address to contact our members and even people who are not members of the website claiming to be us.
Easyroommate is a classified site, we are not an agency and we do not interfere when it comes to booking or viewing or any financial arrangements between the landlord and the tenant.
You can find our contact details on our website from here https://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/article/283-the-customer-service-team. Any other contact other than mentioned on the page does not belong to us.
We are aware of this scam and we are doing our very best to fight against it. You can read more about this on our help page from here: https://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/category/245-scams-and-safety. We always advise on our help page to never transfer any money without meeting the landlord or seeing the room first.

BE VERY CAREFUL when you sing in in EASSYROOMATE. ComThis website, is totally

When I signed in I had to pay $24.90 for 30 days Premium membership in order to contact members, otherwise you will NOT be able to connect with other members. Once you
Pay there is just a few people to contact. When I wanted to log in today my account was
Deactivated and for NO REASON
As I read in Website Visitor & User Agreements once the member is deactivated they DO NOT REFUN YOU. So I HAVE SENT them emails and absolutely NO ONE REPLIED and there is NOT a costumer services phone number where to callTotally SCAM!
Having to get bitcoin[smells like fraud]. Bitcoin is untraceable and about impossible to get. Why do you do it? I won't so forget it.
Thank you for your feedback Brian and we appreciate the opportunity to confirm that Bitcoin payment is a scam indeed!
Matter of fact, any money sent to Easyroommate under the claim of booking a room is a scam as we will never text or email you to book a viewing, organize a key delivery or collect a rent and deposit payment. We are not an agency, we are a classified site and the only people representing our firm are -us- the customer care team, and you can only reach us using the email addresses and phone numbers available under "Contact us" section on our homepages: https://easyroommate-uk.helpscoutdocs.com/article/13-the-customer-service-team
Unfortunately, some scammers use our name and logo to contact Members and non-Members of the site, but we are doing our best to aware all of our users against this scam and you can keep track of that on our FAQs as well!
Thanks again for your feedback Brian, it's always better safe than sorry!
I have used easy room mate several times but never had a tenant from them. Just for curiosity, i tried them again along with another site spareroom that i use. I re-activated an old ad but never upgraded. As soon as i reactivated, i kept getting alerts for messages and so on. You had to pay to reply to messages. So just to try it, i paid up. None of the messengers replied. Throughout the months paid subscription, i had hardly any messages. Those i did have, were not of interest to me. My months subscription finished yesterday and since it expired, i have had loads of interest from potential tenants. This is not the first time either. I have had a gut feeling of this since i first used them years ago. I also think that the bulk of the adverts are false, to make you cough up the money
£29.99 is throwing your money away. There is not enough detail on the adverts to let you know about the persons looking for accommodation.
The site is not user friendly either. It does not tell you whether you have already contacted someone. Can be very annoying looking through messages to see if you have already contacted someone.
I use spareroom.com. It does exactly what i have stated above. I think that spareroom has more to offer and a simple messaging system. I have had 100% success with spareroom. It has a simple search facility where you pick out your prefences in your search. A full description of that person and also tells you that you have already contacted that person.
I am particular with my tenants and will only accept those who fit my preferences. You do get the odd person who tells lies in their profiles but you soon weed them out.
An honest opinion is dont bother with easy room mate.
Right of Cancellation is a joke. There is no one to contact. No way to downgrade from premium membership back to basic.
Gave me a lead, phone number and contact info-no reply, a scam save your money there just trying to get your money. Captez
After finally locating an address to complain, this is the response I got from them. It's totally false. Those faces on their website are all made up! If you want to contact me, my email address is *******@aol.com.

Hi Gerry
Thank you for your email.
I'm sorry if you still haven't had any results yet Gerry.
Let me reassure you that Easyroommate is a classified site that has existed for years. We are headquartered in london and are operating in more than 20 countries all over Europe, America and Asia.
As a classified site our Members are in control of their search, we are a matching platform, so you post your ad and we match you with profiles looking in your area within your rent price range. Your room ad has generated more than 200 profiles that are live and active on the site, because to make sure the content on the site is fresh and up to date we have an automated system in place which automatically deactivates ads on inactive account - in other words - If someone does not log in within 15 days their ads get deactivated automatically.
All of our customers control and manage their accounts independently. When you do not hear back from someone it could mean that your recipient has not read your message or could simply mean that they are not interested. This is why we advice our Members to be proactive on their search and contact new profiles on daily basis to be able to find a tenant.
You are in control of your search, to promote your ad and contact the room seekers about it. You haven't contacted any members on the site for about 3 weeks now, and this is not going to help you with your search at all. Your ad is not the only one advertised on the site, and if the other landlords are being proactive on their search they have better chances finding a roommate than you do.
The Premium Membership is not related to the results on the site. It helps you have unlimited access to contact and be contacted by the Members on the site, and you are in total control of that.
My best advice to you is to get on your Search page on a regular basis to browse through your matches and contact members whose profiles you are interested in.
Thanks again for contacting us.
Kind regards,
Sophie
I paid for a premium account but the site is not very accurate or easy to navigate. Very unhappy.
DONT EVER TRY! After I paid premium upgraded! There isn't any tenant all are bull$#*! seeking form room!
I am indebted to the people who have bothered to report EASYROOMATES.COM for the abject scam that it is. I thank them for NOT being indebted to this thieving hustle of a website. The way I came to find out about these reprobates is this: I was looking to find a room to rent in the St Louis area and I started on Craigslist. I saw an ad that looked promising. I decided to contact supposed landlord/homeowner. Ad was for room with usual amenities and plausible rent. The catch was that it was offering a "private entrance" which ostensibly made it an apartment, but for shared/roomate prices. This was the hook. Everything else was average, showing that they know not to set the bait for Too Good To Be True. I immediately got a response stating that the room was still available, all I would need to do, was sign up for EASYROOMATES.COM. Because I'm hip to the way Craigslist scammers work, mostly attempting to drive website traffic, I knew it was probably B. S, but because I took the time to search about the legitimacy of this site only to find innumerable complaints, that were from people who have lost a great deal more than i have (I've just wasted my time, not my money or identity), I have saved myself from being hustled by these con-artists. Dear *******@easyroomates.com or should I just say VICTORIA (seriously, you thieves can't at least invest in additional names? She's the only member of your support staff? Seriously, every response from ER.com is from a VICTORIA) please don't bother to profusely apologize about the unfortunate misunderstanding, you are wasting your breath. Or maybe I should encourage you to respond, so you waste time, money and show the rest of us to what lengths you'll go to continue this rip-off?
I am so sorry to hear about your experience and that you are dissatisfied with EasyRoommate!
Whilst I do appreciate you taking the time in providing your feedback I would like to take advantage of this situation to clarify better for you our website and who we really are as there seems to be a complete misunderstanding. EasyRoommate is not a scam but on the contrary, a genuine classified site that has been operating in the flat-sharing business for over 16 years and presents in more than 26 countries around the world, making us the biggest house sharing community in the world.
As far as the experience you had on Craigslist, I'd like to clarify that we do not do such practices at all as we find it completely unacceptable and it is definitely not someone from Easyroommate who tried to redirect you to advertising on our website. I can assure you that we do not need to create fake profiles to persuade users from other platforms to use us as we have been running a legit business successfully for years. We do not take part in these practices at all and it goes against our policies.
Unfortunately, these are malicious users tricking innocent users and trying to scam them through numerous platforms, but this is a complete fraud which unfortunately impacts negatively on Easyroommate. You were in reality contacted by this scammer on another website not by us and please note that the only people representing our firm are us - the customer services team- and our email is victoria@easyroommate.com.
This leads me to the next point, Victoria is only the mailbox name, however, we did have a former colleague by the name of Victoria who used to take care of our English mailboxes, and the company granted her the honor to name the mailbox as Victoria. This is just like we have Karine for the French mailbox, Antonio for Spanish inbox, Frank in the Uk etc. However, these now remain only email addresses names and we have other Customer Services Agents working for EasyRoommate respectively.
Finally, I'd like to highlight that similar to all businesses out there, we will not appeal to everyone. Scrolling through our reviews you will see people who are very happy with their experience with us and you will also surely see people who are not happy because they were not successful in finding what they are looking for.
Going forward and since you are looking for a room in St Louis, please note that we currently have 25 rooms available in this area and you can have a look at these by accessing the link below:
https://www.easyroommate.com/missouri/st-louis-roommate
In order to help you with this hardship and actually help you find what you are looking for we would be glad to offer you a Commercial Gesture such as a Free Premium Membership on our website and invite you to advertise with us so that you can see for yourself that we are a legit website and we are here to help people find their perfect room/roommate.
I hope this helps to clarify better our business to you and you can find our contact details on our website from here:
https://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/article/283-the-customer-service-team
Apologies once again for any inconvenience caused and I do wish you the best of luck in the future.
Hostile marketing! They demand personal info before giving anything to you
Answer: Thank you for your kind interest in advertising with us. Yes indeed, we do have rooms available on our website in Spokane WA and all across the US, however your search results would also depend on your rental budget and other search criteria besides the desired location. The first thing is to create an account with us through our Homepage https://www.roomgo.net/ to post your ad, and then you will be able to view all the search results and get in touch with your matches accordingly. Should you require any further assistance or a hand with anything related to your search please feel free to get in touch with our Customer Services Department on contact@roomgo.co.uk and they'd be glad to assist you further. Wishing you all the best of luck in your search!
Answer: Thank you for your feedback, I am so sorry to hear that you've been having difficulties accessing your account. There are many reasons that may be causing this issue such as a temporary suspension of your account by our Moderation Team to check some information with you, trying to log-in through a different country website, or merely not entering your log-in credentials correctly. Not to worry simply drop us an email on contact@roomgo.go.uk and we would gladly guide you in accessing your account successfully or even its deletion as per your request. We are looking very forward to hearing from you soon and assisting you further!
Answer: Thank you for your feedback and apologies for any inconvenience caused by our services! I'd like to clarify that the quantity or quality of listings available is not controlled by us, that's something related to your ad and ultimately controlled by you. The matches that you get are relevant to your location, rent price/budget, availability date and other filters as well. I assure you that we have numerous listings added on our website on a daily basis in the USA. Thus I kindly invite you to get in touch with our Customer Services Team on contact@roomgo.co.uk to guide you in having more search results available and assist you further in your search. We are looking very forward to hearing from you soon.
Answer: I am so sorry to hear that the person you were trying to reach turned out to be not advertising at all Karen! Firstly I would like to apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. There are a number of reasons why this might have happened Karen, it could be that a malicious user created an account fraudulently using this phone number on our website. Also, bear in mind that this might also have been due to a typo mistake either by yourself when ringing her up or by the user herself when inputting her phone number on her account. To assist you further with this and gain a better understanding of the situation would you please get back to us by sending us an email on frank@easyroommate.com providing us the Listing ID of this user in order to check this further. Otherwise, you can always reach us at +44 203 695 8756 from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm UK time. In the same time, you can always go ahead and flag a user's account using the flag option at the bottom of their profiles when you encounter a situation this way the moderation team will investigate and take action immediately. Looking forward to hearing from you soon and helping you further.
Answer: I am so sorry to hear about your situation and I would be glad to help you. Firstly I would like to clarify that Easyroommate does not interfere in the landlord/tenant business. As we are a classified site and not an agency it is entirely up to the user to contact and agree on all the terms of the contract. Since we do not handle the rental process or interfere in the communication or arrangements between members, we will not be able to mediate at this stage. However, I do advise you to go to local police station and file a complaint if you wish and we will be glad to provide any further information that may be required by the authorities, also kindly get back to me at Frank@easyroommate.com with the listing id of this user in order to take the necessary actions. Also, what we can do at this point is to help create a new search ad and we can activate a Premium Membership for you free of charge to help you speed up the search for the ideal room. Apologies for any inconvenience caused and hope to hear from you soon.
Answer: Hi Lilian, Could you kindly ask you for your email address to be able to check the account if the transaction went through? You can also drop me a line at Frank@easyroommate.com Hope to hear from you soon
Answer: Hi Sonya, Thank you for your message. We have websites all over the world, but our head office is in London, UK. Please let us know if you have any other question. You can contact our customer service directly at victoria@easyroommate.com Kind regards, The Easyroommate Team
Answer: Thank you for contacting Easyroommate Sue. I'd be glad to help you with your search and how to have a safe experience while using an online website! First, to be able to check the ad for you I'm going to need the full listing ID, as the one you have posted is missing a number and it did not allow me to find the ad in question. However, the good news is that there is a really easy way to ensure that you are not scammed - First and fore-most - Do not make financial agreements or arrangements with anyone you have not personally met. You can read more about online safety on our FAQS from here: https://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/category/245-scams-and-safety and you can also contact our Customer support directly by email as well from here: Victoria@easyroommate.com Thanks again for contacting us and I'm looking forward to helping you further.
Answer: People looking for accommodation are not the only ones at risk. Landlords are also targeted by scammers. Scammers con money from members advertising rooms by sending payment meant to secure a room remotely, usually by cheque. This will seem above board until they ask you for all or part of this payment back. Once you have partially or wholly refunded the payment, you will discover that the initial cheque you received has bounced. Rental scams do not always involve fake payments directly relating to the rent, they may use associated moving costs as another method. For instance, if your new tenant is moving from another country and claims that they have paid for some belongings to be shipped/relocated to your property - they may invent some convoluted story about needing to make a final payment when their shipment arrives, but have unfortunately (and conveniently) had their credit card stolen. We have a strong knowledge of these scams and we have a dedicated team on Easyroommate that works 24/7 to keep the site safe to use. If you encounter any malicious user again, you can go ahead and flag their accounts using the flag option at the bottom of their profiles, this way the moderation team will take action immediately. We are always here to help you if you would like to check any accounts or if you need any assistance using the site, our email address is: Victoria@easyroommate.com
Answer: Dear Adam, Thank you for your message. To be able to check the interests in your area you need to go to the section for posting a room. This section appears in green on the right-hand side, at the top of the Home Page. From there you will need to enter the address, to select some details about the room and to register your email address. Once your ad is created, you can go to the Search section and see all the profiles for potential flatmates. This is absolutely free and does not commit you to anything. You can also access to the section by clicking on the link below. http://www.easyroommate.com/content/have/profilehave.aspx?id=1&opt=H If you prefer, I can also do the search for you. If you send me in which city you are, I will be able to send you the number of potential flatmates that are currently looking for a room in your area. I would also like to draw your attention that we do have a Customer Service email address, in case you have other questions, or if you want to get back to us directly: victoria@easyroommate.com You can see our FAQ by following the below link: http://easyroommate-us.helpscoutdocs.com/ I hope you will find this helpful. I wish you best of luck on our website. Customer Service Team Easyroommate
Roomgo has a rating of 1.6 stars from 83 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Roomgo most frequently mention premium membership, easyroommate com and customer service. Roomgo ranks 10th among Roommate sites.
Thank you for your feedback.
I am sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. I would like to ensure you that EasyRoommate is a classified website and it functions as a host for room ads and people searching for rooms. We do not take part in any financial arrangements between the landlords and the tenants.
In rare occasions, scammers tend to use our email format and name with a fake email address to impersonate EasyRoommate. This allows them to trick the users into placing payments that are not authorized by the website.
We do have a team of moderation team that checks the accounts on the website around the clock but unfortunately some of the slip through the moderation process. This is one of the reasons why we have the flag option on our website so that our users can report them if they notice any suspicious activities to our moderation team.
I would really like you to forward us the emails you have received to our customer support team and contact us on of the following details below.
