I called HP tech support today as I needed help setting up my printer—I talked with a wonderful technician who clearly guided me through setup and I couldn't have asked for better service—thank you!
Don't be carried away by looks.

I could not be more upset at this company. They're so bad. It took 3 days and getting hung up on or ghosted multiple times before I finally got someone answered through their website. I tried everything from the phone to Twitter to get someone to answer me and nothing. Twice someone answered asking how they could help and I'd answer and then nothing for hours. One of them answered 5 hours later at 1 in the morning. The worst part is that my question is simple. I bought an HP Spectre. The screen has a manufacturing problem and doesn't work right so I need to know how to send it in and get it replaced. 3 days and multiple people to answer that one question. The guy that finally did was horrible and I'm still not convinced he gets it. I kept telling him its a manufacturing problem and he's trying to say the screen has physical damage so the warranty won't cover it. 1. How would you be able to know that through a video showing only the screen? 2. It clearly isn't. He wants to say it'll cost like $600 to fix. I will not. I will buy a new laptop and never buy an HP again. I won't anyways but this is insane how bad they treat people. All just to send a faulty machine back and get it replaced. The dude through Twitter messaged me back once and then never again. Just literally never again. Than why ask? Why even answer if you have no intentions to actually help. Their site was down most of my time trying to use it so even if there were helpful people there I couldn't get to them anyway. The first guy I actually go ahold of wanted to do a bunch of preliminary stuff to make sure it was a manufacturing problem. First up, restart the computer. Ok that'll break the connection with the person I'm talking to. I asked how we will get that back after my computer restarts. He says he'll email me. Over an hour later he finally does and sends me to a website that didn't even work. I sent back an email saying that site didn't work and he never answered again. Nothing. He just wrote on the claim that it was solved. It most certainly was not. Its appalling how bad they are. I highly recommend never buying anything from this company. They are atrocious.
Warning to anyone looking to purchase from HP with extended warranty.
I purchased my laptop around 12 months ago with a 3 year warranty. I had an issue with the fan grinding noise within 3 months which I did send back to HP (After about 2 hours of debugging on their support line) The item was returned repaired.
Recently I noticed some Stuck pixels on my screen, they're red and green all around the screen. I sent it into HP after again, spending a stupid amount of time on their support and it came back with a new display, the issue still persists. So I spent another 2-3 hours on with support trying the exact same things I tried 5 days before and obviously nothing was fixed so it was booked in for another repair. When checking their system it said to get in contact with HP to get more information about the fault. So on Friday I got in touch asking what information they needed. No response. Until this morning when they notified me on WhatsApp as they hadn't heard from me they were closing my case. I've not heard from HP despite messaging Saturday and Sunday so I'm not sure why they closed the case?
Anyway, I called today to try to get a resolution but I was cut off half way through the call.
All in all, don't bother buying from HP if you care about getting your device fixed. I think I've given up at this point.
My laptop was sent back in the same faulty condition I sent it in despite sending emails showing the issue. I'm unsure if their repair team are just incompetent or lazy as I never received a response and just had the laptop shipped back.
I'll probably take it to a third party and claim any costs back against HP, seems the only way forward now.
Bought an HP laptop it only worked three weeks and is now a 400 paperweight. Pathetic HP and decades ago a decent company. Stay away
Beyond ridiculous. These people make no sense what-so-ever. Laptop screen separated within less than a year. They are saying it's accidental and not covered by warranty. Are you kidding me? What accident separated a screen from the back? I accidentally pulled the screen and back apart? Are these people sane? Please beware in purchasing anything from this company. I did it anyway after I heard really bad things about them. Well here I am. I see it first hand why this company is hated so much.
Editing to reflect my experience with corporate... After my ordeal with the service side of the company, I posted on BBB and sent an email to their corporate office. I have to say, their customer service on THAT side has been surprisingly good. The corporate office called me right after I sent an email, within a day. They assigned a manager to me that went thru my grievances about the whole situation with me throughout this process. They followed up with me continuously. Unfortunately, even they could not magically get my laptop fixed quickly and returned but what they did do is that they approved the repair without any charge. But, even with their help, the laptop repair process got delayed over and over and over again. Now, it's been just under 2 months without a laptop. I now have accepted a replacement credit from their HP website instead of waiting for repaired laptop. Which no one knows when that will be.
The laptop I purchased was a faulty product. The laptop itself ran fine, but to have a screen separate from its backing within less than a year is ridiculous. I had a Toshiba laptop, plastic one that after 6 years, there isn't a scratch on it let alone screen separation. Not even a crack. Had to replace for performance reasons. And the HP Envy I purchased seemed more solid with metal frame and heavier, just overall nicer and fancier. Yet it deteriorated within less than a year.
Product rating F. Corporate handling of the situation A+.
HP compnay!~~!?
So xxxxxxx bad service
I recently had experience for canceling my order.
I bought laptop, HP Pavilion 15z because it was on sale On Black Friday.
However, I made a mistake that I did not read carefully with description on CPU that this laptop has AMD on it.
I called customer service talked to Maria Stuart (I don't think that she gave me a real name) to get full refund because it was not even started on assembling when I check my order status.
I called and talked to her and she said that it is already being built.
I am pretty sure that she was lying, trained by her manager, don't get any refunds or returns. I ordered roughly 2 hours ago, and they got all the parts and started on?
This is ridiculous.
I have all the records that I need to prove that when I ordered and when I made a call to cancel.
I tried different customer services even chat on line. All the customer service reps are saying that I have to wait and it is not guaranteed to get canceled.
I have previous experience on HP products and I liked it. However, customer service was horrible. It turned me down so hard.
Read carefully or you have to take the product no matter what.
Once they get the money transferred, you will not get refund
HP company has horrible customer services.
They will charge you restocking fees up to 15% even if you try to return on the same day and still unopened box,
I'm really disappointed in how an issue was handled. I have a brand new laptop (3 months old) that I got as a gift. It started displaying an "operational fan error" over and over again then would shut down. I couldn't use my computer. I called HP to help me and I was on the phone with them for 2.5 hours. AJ who I spoke with on the phone said, " That he had never seen the type of issues that I was having." We tried everything to get it resolved. It seems as though he didn't want to work on the issue anymore and passed me on to the security team. I didn't understand why since it was in regards to an operational fan issue. Then I get in contact with the security team and they want me to be an activation fee of $49 for a software package and then 14 dollars a month moving forward. What?! I'm purchasing a security package because my system fan isn't working. This doesn't make sense. I re-explained the issue to the gentleman over the phone and he said he was doing his job. I mentioned that I wanted to be referred back to the technical team since I called regarding a technical issue and he said it was a security issue. I felt unheard. The issue is unresolved and I felt lied to. After then 3 full hours on the phone, I said, "So, you're telling me that I have to pay you money for something that is not actually the issue and no one will actually assist me with the actual problem." He said, "Yes." I had already missed 3 hours of work, I just couldn't do it anymore. I am so disappointed in how this was handled. I felt passed around. I have never had an issue like this before with a laptop. This is so disappointing. It's a brand new lap top malfunctioning. Take responsibility for your product.
Just spent the last 4 hrs with multiple techs from the Phillippines getting nothing accomplished! Was Switched around to different reps (one who had his phone on mute). Hard to understand reps and for them to understand me. Massive confusion. Reps are taking multiple calls at once so can't remember your info when they get back to you for the 5th time. When I told the rep I had given him the same info 4 times before he told me he was having a busy day and had a lot of calls he was handling at the same time! When he did speak to me all I could hear was the massive confusion of other reps talking in the background! Bizarre and unacceptable! When I finally spent the last half hour troubleshooting a million ways to make a black screen come to life and failed, he told me he'd call me back in a couple hours because he had other things to take care of! WHAT DID HE JUST TELL ME? That was at 9:30 pm! What kind of business is HP running? MY NEXT COMPUTER WILL NOT BE AN HP! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Don't buy HP laptops, you're better off buying from other brands, their laptops genuinely are bad. Below mediorcre.
We had the worst experience with Hewlett Packard and I thought I would share it with you so you are forewarned. We purchased an HP printer a few years back based upon the perceived reputation of the company. We did not realize that the lower sales price we paid was due to the fact that it appears they make their money by forcing you to purchase their own overpriced ink cartridges. (If I had only read Consumer Reports sooner.) If you try to put a non-HP printer cartridge in the printer, it will not work.
We have been suffering with this problem for a few years and have probably spent about 10 times the cost of the printer on ink. Probably not smart for us. Recently, we purchased a package of replacement cartridges at Staples in the mid-afternoon. When we attempted opening the black ink cartridge we realized it was defective. It exploded when the tab was opened. We returned it to Staples and received a replacement. It too exploded. Fortunately, there was a garbage can nearby and we were able to catch most of the ink in it, although it did leave ink on the inside of my teak garbage can. We were able to clean the ink on the wood floor before it stained; however, I also noticed that my wife's blouse was covered in ink. I tried to clean it, including manually, with a spot remover and in the washing machine. It is permanently stained and ruined. Returning to Staples resulted in an even exchange and we opened the new cartridge and guess what? It also exploded. We called Staples and the sales associate said that we should perhaps buy a replacement on line. We returned it the next day and the store manager felt that perhaps we did not know how to open it. So she opened one of the cartridges in the 4-cartridge pack and it exploded as well.
We communicated to HP and surprise, surprise, no response. It is not like we cannot afford replacing a blouse or a teak trash can or the three trips to Staples, but their lack of willingness to even respond to our complaint let alone not offer compensation is frustrating.
My advice is to read Consumer Reports before you buy a printer scanner and buy a quality product that you can buy ink from vendors other than the manufacturer.
Ripped me off terribly. The instant ink program is a massive scam. Only needed ink delivered 3 times a year but got billed over $600. SCAM!
Brand new out of the box never used won't work, called the 24 hour Customer support services nobody will answer. Waste of money and piece of $#*!
HP8720 ALL IN ONE PRINTERS
Since I had great luck with the HP7410, I went with the HP8720 thinking that HP continued their quality and support. I was wrong. I was even told by the associate in the store that they're bad and people are complaining, but didn't take it seriously until I became the next victim. The printer started breaking down about 3 months after I purchased it. At first I thought it was a cartridge issue, so I replaced the cartridges. Than I read that HP had software/firmware that prevented anyone from using cartridges other than HP. After contacting HP and doing further testing, I came to the conclusion that the printheads themselves were prematurely going bad if you had low usage, like home use. After I reported the issues, I didn't get anywhere with HP that would help me with the issue, and now the HP8720 is just a big paperweight sitting next to my desk for about a year now. Being confined to our homes, it would be extremely beneficial not to have good printer. HP products, especially my printer is nowhere close to what they once were. BAD deal for the elderly and disabled, since you won't win the fight with billionaires... No new printheads, as they're too expensive for me to afford and replace on my own. Nothing else helped. You get Delays and the runaround until the Warranty expies and then you're tatally on your own.
Tech

I am so tired of the planned extinction of some products, so we have to buy more. Several tech products in the last 3 months have updated themselves out of usability, for me.
In my location, I can't get Internet without going to the local business, having to buy something there, wasting more time and money.
The last 2 hp printers I bought were to be simple. As a student, I need to be able to plug in and print. That's all I want, and it is so much easier and quicker. Just leave the product that I bought alone!
I am thinking that each time you tamper with the product I purchased in good faith for my needs, you need to send me a proportionate refund.
JUST LEAVE MY PRODUCT ALONE! IT WORKED FINE, NOW UPDATED ITS SELF, SAYING IT NEEDS THE INTELNET. Tell you what, I appreciate the option, but I need to be able to plug in and print and not have to connect to the Internet. That would be for my files on my laptop or my printer.
And what a waste! We're working on sustainability, right? So disappointed. I bought this laptop and this printer just a couple of years ago. I bought it because it had what I needed. Don't b of changing the use ability for me. I certainly won't be buying another hp anything at this point.
They lied about the adaptive battery setting. I searched it up in the mini settings and main settings page and nothing showed up for it.
The Battery only lasts 6 hours and I'm pretty sure it said that the battery lasts a full day on the package.
I really like the hp victus 15.6 gaming laptop because it can run forza horizon 5 really well but it does lag a little just because it only has 8gb of ram and a 512gb ssd a amd ryzen 5 5000 series a nvidia geforce gtx 1650 so i am thinking about upgradeing some of the parts in it like make it has 1tb of storage 32gb of ram a rtx 3050 or 3070 ti. A nother thing i like about this laptop is it is good for school because of the parts that is in it and over all i give the hp victus 15.6 gaming laptop a 10 out of 10.
Answer: Impossible by phone since at least December 2023. ( May be before)
Answer: I'm old and remember the HP of 20 years ago. Boy has time changed this company.
Answer: Lenovo is similar to HP, though the performance of Lenovo's computers is complete crap, the upside to it is that they at least have good service.
HP has a rating of 1.2 stars from 520 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with HP most frequently mention customer service, tech support and instant ink. HP ranks 201st among Laptops sites.
