We had the same experience yesterday, where they sought more information, and then today they cancelled the booking. Will block them from our credit card.
Honestly, I have booked with so many other online travel agencies such as Vayama, My trip, and Expedia and this has to be the worst of it all. I booked a reservation online and maybe 5 hours after, before receiving even my e-ticket or any confirmation, I tried to cancel it. It was so hard to get in touch with someone from their team and when I finally did, the person answered and said there is a $15 charge and when I asked what exactly the charge is for, he said he will speak to his supervisor and hung up on me.
I called back a few hours and was put in touch with a Supervisor, Michael, who was no help. He just gave me the company policy off a script and there was no reasoning with him at all.
What I don't understand is that what are they charging his hidden fee for when the reservation is being cancelled within 24 hours of the booking? And a ticket hasn't even been confirmed at this point so what is the point? Honestly, this taught me to always pay a little extra and book it directly with the website or go through a very trusted online travel agency.
Hi Sana. We apologize for the inconvenience in your travel booking experience. While processing the booking, we received a notification that the booking was High Risk. For your payment security, we asked you to verify a small charge amount on the same credit card which was used to purchase the ticket. Our policy mentions that we are willing to honor the fare while you are completing the verification email and sending it back in a timely manner. When you requested to cancel your ticket, which was still in the 24-hours since you made the booking our agents told you that the fee would be $15. It is the law for the airlines to allow free cancelation within 24-hours but it is not for third-party agencies. We appreciate your understanding and we hope you give us another chance. You can call us at 866-860-2929 or email us at Reservations@faredepot.com. Thank you, FareDepot Support.
I bought 2 tickets to Brazil and it was showing $864 usd online however after purchasing the ticket they charged me $963 USD. When I emailed them they denied this happened. This is a scam!
Hi! I’m Christian. I fly almost thrice a month for work. Thank God for Faredepot.com. Travelling was way too strenuous before I met these people. Well what can I say? Travelling is fun now!
FareDepot.com other than amazing ticket prices provides best customer service and the website canbe navigated smoothly. I have faced no issues with this website.
FareDepot.com happens to be one of the leading travel website with its excellent service offerings. From great ticket pricing to supportive customer care assistance, the website offers it all.
Cancelled booking after calling and providing 2 credit cards with identical info inacase one didn't work. I had a great fare and I suspect they simply didn't want to honor it. Total junk site.
Hi John B., We apologize for the inconvenience in your travel booking experience. While processing your booking, our system flagged you as fraudulent. The instructions were very clear on what was expected from you. We appreciate your understanding and feedback and we hope you give us another chance. I never received my ticket number and when contacting them... after several attempts... they FINALLY answered me. They were SO RUDE! And when I waited for the "MANAGER" after several minutes, he said that I got him out of a meeting and he said I WILL NOT REFUND YOU! WE DID NOTHING WRONG! And the HUNG UP ON ME TAKING ALMOST $1000! I AM SO MD AT THEM!
I booked two tickets through FareDepot to Greece for this July but unfortunately due to corona virus as a U.S. citizen I am currently not allowed to enter the country. For this reason the airline 'Lufthansa' cancelled my flights. I reached out to FareDepot to receive my full refund which I'm entitled to per the Department of Transportation. I called for days and was never able to get ahold of anyone so I finally emailed and to my surprise they got back quickly however, they said there would be a $100 processing fee per passenger to issue the full refund which could take 3-5 business weeks before it shows back on my credit card. I found that strange since I had used the same card and transaction for both of the tickets. Why were they charging me based off the passenger total? I voiced my concern and they said they could reduce the "processing fee" to $50 each, so $100 total. I was upset because the whole thing seems sketchy but agreed. I clicked on the link provided and it took me to their "secure website" where I had to type in the amount I wished to pay and nowhere did it mention paying this amount would result in a full refund of my $2196. 70. I emailed Erik back and he said it was the only way to process my refund. He was extremely un helpful and did not reassure me in any way that I would be refunded like I asked. I got a receipt once I paid the $100 and now I just have to wait 5 weeks for a refund I hope I will get. So unprofessional and extremely criminal. Taking advantage of people who are already going through a hard time and charging a processing fee for something that isn't your fault at all. I will never book through them again and anyone thinking about it should absolutely pay a little extra and book directly through the airline. This is not worth the trouble.
Please take my advice and do not book your flight with fared pot. The customer service is the worst in the industry. We are still fighting with them to recoup 3000$. For the mistake they made and demanding more money to fix their incompetence. PLEASE NEVER BOOK WITH FAREDEPOT.
Lloyd, Customer Service Rep,
This is the first time I've purchased a ticket through Faredepot, so I'm not acquainted with your process. To say the least, I was surprised to get an email after booking a flight to Panama City.
The email asked for an unspecified, temporary security charge. May I say that is bizarre for a variety of reasons.
1) During the booking and confirmation there was no mention of a security charge.
2) The suspect email did not give a specific amount for the charge, yet I am to call or monitor my charge card for some unknown amount from "Airline," not from Faredepot.
3) The email asked me to log-in somewhere, but didn't say where, i. E. to your website, my bank, my credit card, or United Airlines.
4) Your "Reservation on Hold " feels like you're holding my confirmation for ransom, which I doubt.
For the payment I used a Visa debit card through my checking account from my credit union. Today, there has been a charge by United Airlines for $482.10, which they've confirmed and have forwarded me the e-ticket.
Another strange aspect, is that the total price from you for the flight is $500.06. So if your security charge is the difference of $17.96, then I see no problem, except it wasn't stated up front.
Since I have received the e-ticket from United Airlines already, even though your process is pretty tangled, I'd say that I'm satisfied.
Hopefully, you'll be able to simplify out your booking process to go with the great fares.
Steve

I don't understand how this company has such great reviews on Google... unless they are deleting them? We had a nightmare experience and almost did not fly. Fare Depot gave us inaccurate information about adding an infant seat to our ticket and it resulted in a terrible and extremely stressful 3 hours at the airport. I will never book through them again.
I'll give them 2 stars because the gentleman I spoke to during our 3 hour horrific ordeal at the airport was at least nice to us on the phone and agreed to stay on the phone with me until the problem was resolved (which was probably 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours). But he also threatened the airlines which made the airlines threaten him in return... so that's fun.
You can call and call and no one will answer. You leave a voicemail and no one ever gets back to you. That is extremely sketchy right there. They may be the cheapest and if you don't have any special circumstances, they might be easy to deal with as the cheapest, but if you do have special circumstances or are traveling international, buyers beware.
Hi Karen B., We apologize for the inconvenience in your travel booking experience. We have knowledgeable agents available to assist at any time. We appreciate your feedback. Thank you, FareDepot Team.
We had the worst experience with this "company!" Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! I travel all the time, and I've never had a worse experience than I did when I booked through FareDepot.
I had to book a ticket for my Boss accompanied by one of our prestigious client from Japan for a business meeting in Paris. It was very simple to book the tickets.
When I read some of the positive reviews from this company I am overwhelmed. I reserves tickets for travel almost every month and this time the tickets seemed really great with this company so I went for it. I filled everything online. Never received a confirmation or any billing information. However they were quick to take the money from my crédit card. I tried calling for a full day and always waited online for 20-25 min to then hear a message saying no one could answer my call. Finally talked to someone and 2 days later got my confirmation for the flight. One week later I still have not received a statement with the details of what was billed to me. On my card statement there are multiple charges that don't add up to the total on the ticket. Funny I can never speak to the right person. And to make it worst my second ticket was not event done with them, it was sent to a company named Faregeek... I'm assuming there are related. I will have to write another post for Faregeek because that is a incredible story of fraud. I would never suggest this company. They claim to be something they are not. Horrible horrible horrible...
Hi Caroline,
Could you please provide your booking number to sales@faredepot.com to have this taken care of right away? Thanks!

Got flight tickets with a stopover but airport 3 hours away. Impossible to make connection. Had to spend another thousand dollars to make it work. Never again

I will never use this site or advise anyone for that matter. I purchased tickets with them and the first one I saw was really affordable and I booked it, I saw a small charge on my card and waited the whole day and nothing. I called them and after 30+ attempts someone answered, this person was so rude to the point that he called me a liar because I told him I did not receive the verification email, well my reservation was cancelled and I lost that original fare. I booked another one and it was more expensive, it took me 3 whole days to clear this mess up and me staying on the phone trying to talk to someone in all those 3 days and hundreds of calls I only actually spoke to a live person 3 times.
I thought everything was done now and I see my card has been charged $800 more than what was originally charged. I have been trying to contact someone to look into this matter and no one is willing to help, have emailed, called and the only response I have received is we are looking into the matter via an email after numerous emails I have sent and no one answering the phones. If you ask for a manager you are told they are not available or in a meeting. Needless to say am extremely disappointed. We work for our money and don't go outside and pluck it from trees anytime we need it.
I will not be using this site and none of the people I know and the people they know will be using this site
I got my eticket within a day of placing the order. I recommend this company to anyone looking to get a deal. Fair price, great customer service. Thank you, FareDepot!
Thank you, Maria K. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to helping you again the next time you book with us!

Answer: Don't think you can select your seat through Fare Depot. You have to work directly with the airline for that.
Answer: Hi Sarah. We understand your frustration. But, please understand something - Since we are dealing directly with the Airline, all the information you give us must be accurate and correct in order to fly. If there is something wrong with the information you provided, and we must make a change to your reservation, the airline charges a penalty fee. As it is our duty and responsibility, we provide you with the information you need and quote you the Airline's penalty fee as per the rules at the time.
