Lloyd, Customer Service Rep,
This is the first time I've purchased a ticket through Faredepot, so I'm not acquainted with your process. To say the least, I was surprised to get an email after booking a flight to Panama City.
The email asked for an unspecified, temporary security charge. May I say that is bizarre for a variety of reasons.
1) During the booking and confirmation there was no mention of a security charge.
2) The suspect email did not give a specific amount for the charge, yet I am to call or monitor my charge card for some unknown amount from "Airline," not from Faredepot.
3) The email asked me to log-in somewhere, but didn't say where, i. E. to your website, my bank, my credit card, or United Airlines.
4) Your "Reservation on Hold " feels like you're holding my confirmation for ransom, which I doubt.
For the payment I used a Visa debit card through my checking account from my credit union. Today, there has been a charge by United Airlines for $482.10, which they've confirmed and have forwarded me the e-ticket.
Another strange aspect, is that the total price from you for the flight is $500.06. So if your security charge is the difference of $17.96, then I see no problem, except it wasn't stated up front.
Since I have received the e-ticket from United Airlines already, even though your process is pretty tangled, I'd say that I'm satisfied.
Hopefully, you'll be able to simplify out your booking process to go with the great fares.
Steve
