The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in its engaging auction format and a diverse range of products that some users find enjoyable and affordable. Many appreciate the responsive customer service, which has been effective in addressing issues and facilitating refunds. However, significant concerns persist regarding product quality, with numerous complaints about receiving damaged or inferior items. Additionally, customers have reported frustrations with order cancellations and difficulties in the returns process. Overall, while the platform offers a fun shopping experience, it must improve product reliability and support to enhance customer satisfaction.

Customer service is responsive to issues. Must read descriptions carefully to understand what you are buying. Happy with the jewelry I have purchased.
Dealing with Tophatter is a pleasure no problem with my purchases good value and a very good postal service
I have asked numerous times if I can return the radar detector, and receive a refund. I still haven't heard from Customer Service. I have spent alot of money on this site, and do like 99% of the products I received. BUT I would like to know from them if I can get a credit for the radar detector. I don't want to ship it back and lose my $ as well as this item THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!
Tres contente mais j aimerais recevoir les instructions ou explication en francais, vous avez de beau produits et je vous fait de la pub.
I like it is fun and once in a while I get what I want tophatter is fun for all that like to have fun and spend a little money.
I like bidding on Tophatter live auctions. They are fun and most things I have been pleased with. All are fast shipping and good communications!
The people are very helpful the auctions are up front and easy the products are what you bid on not fake
They (tophatter) mark the items high so people will bid higher as I watched my friend for a while and we know prices of most of the stuff they are selling since we own business~~~~~~BUYER BEWARE!
Hi Trish,
Pricing is set by the seller of the item, not Tophatter. Tophatter has very strict policies in place to make sure sellers are representing items correctly. If you have a question about a specific price you see please write our support directly so we can investigate; http://tinyurl.com/j8eo7hu.
In an auction format, it's up to each buyer to review the item description prior to bidding, taking note of all key details, to decide what is a fair or reasonable price based on the value he or she places on the item. Bidders decide how high they are willing to bid, and can stop bidding at any time.
Warm regards,
Felicia
So I received an item I did not purchase and in return told them I didn't receive an item that I had purchased even though they stated that the tracking number shows it was delivered. Do not purchase from this site. Items are cheap also...
William,
I reviewed details on this issue and must offer my sincere apologies that this was handled incorrectly. I see you received a Gold Clad Bar instead of the Gold Clad Coin you ordered, this definitely qualifies for a return. I've taken the liberty of requesting a return on your behalf.
In this instance, a full refund has been issued and a return of the item is not required. You may keep the item.
Thank you for being a valued customer, and we truly hope things work out better next time.
Warm regards,
Felicia
Some items are listed with value of over 1 thousand dollars, like necklaces that specify being 14k, 18, and even 24k, but they are fake. They turn green or dark and stink after a few hours of wear. Bracelets advertised as having a value if $1,200 break during the first or second wear if not broken when received. At times the wrong and cheapest looking items are sent, nothing like the picture shown. Honestly, m9st items are costume jewelry that can be bought for $3 or $5. DON'T GET FOOLED! I feel terrible for all the people bidding and getting trash. It's been a repeated terrible experience for me. BEWARE!
Gracie,
We genuinely thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
We have very strict guidelines that require sellers to accurately represent their items in both price and quality, my apologies the sellers did not hold up to these guidelines and you were unhappy with your orders.
Please note with our easy return policy, you can return an item for any reason within 30 days from delivery, as detailed in our FAQ: http://tinyurl.com/h7xokwj
Thank you for your understanding,
Felicia
I have received four items that I recently bid on. I wish to return three of the four. Can I return them in one box? The earrings I ordered were for a gift and the size of the flowers do not match. The ring looks horrible and the "romper" is the cheapest piece of clothing I have ever seen!
Hi Tanya,
I reviewed your account and see that you have return request open for each of your orders. Because you purchased from different sellers the items must be returned to each seller individually.
Your first return request was granted a full refund without the need to return the item. You may keep Order # 28138399. However, the cost of returning the other items with tracking is at the buyer's expense for Orders# 28143462, 28142267 and 28139549.
Please check your email for a separate message that includes the seller's return address and instructions for packing your item. *Be sure to send each item back in the mail with a valid tracking number within 7 days of your request and enter your return tracking number under My Orders in your account.*
Your refunds will be issued within 5 business days of delivery once the seller receives your item and verifies it is in the original condition.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
Felicia
Bought a 1953 Red Seal 2 Dollar Bill. Extremely Disappointed, The Bill was missing a corner and has markings on it. Never By Bills from them Again! Jeff Honn
I'm new to Tophatter. I discovered it about a month ago and I got addicted to it very fast and spent way too much money. I have already received a lot of my items and I Love almost everything. I'm still waiting for some of my items and hoping I receive it all with no problems. The only thing I have a problem with is Tophatters Refund and/or return policy. It costs more than what I paid for an item to return it. Yes you have to pay to return it. Then right after winning a couple Bids I wanted a refund but they refused to give me my refunds. Other than those things Tophatter is a lot of fun. Like I said it's addicting and from now on I have to set myself a monthly amount to spend at Tophatter.
My ring i won looked like it came from a Gumball Machine. They must of paid people to leave good reviews or their writing them. The worst thing ring and quality lol i told my husband throw it away. If it sounds to good to be true it almost always is.
I won a bid of $1.00 with no shipping and purchased a $5.00 extra offer attached. Normally the item goes for $15-$20 bids. I never received item and had to get refund. Cheaper for them this way rather than honor the bid. Still waiting on another item from April purchases of 5 items. Two bad experiences out of 5. I also looked up items after I bid on ebay and found them cheaper than what people are bidding
Jeanne,
I'm truly troubled to hear the seller failed to ship your order as required causing you not to receive the item at the great deal offered.
Because we are not the seller of the item we offer buyer protection which guarantees your item will be delivered or a full refund will be issued. In this case, a refund was issued.
Additionally, I've reviewed tracking for each of your orders and they all have been delivered. If you have questions regarding this, please contact our customer support team for additional details: http://tinyurl.com/j8eo7hu

I have bought some amazing pieces. Greatest find, fast service, quality merchandise. I would definitely recommend every one at least giving it one try.
I'm working, so it's hard for me to watch auctions while I work. I set a reminder for a particular item and I have a notification saying it's "Coming Up Soon". How long is a typical wait before it goes live?
I give it a 4 because I never received my coin I purchased for $23.00. Other then that, I received everything else and the stuff was nice.
Answer: There is also the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION that can help with these types of problems
Answer: You have to read the descriptions. It will tell you if it's real or plated.
Answer: Do not deal with this company,,, all jewelery is crap n cheap
Answer: Tophatter will screw you over. Shop Amazon or overstock.
Answer: Good luck! Tophatter rippes off the sellers so they are not going to be very likely to return your money.
Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
Answer: Yes! Sale of counterfeit items is prohibited. If you are concerned about the authenticity of an item purchased on the platform, you may return it for up to 30 days from delivery. See full details on our return policy here: http://tinyurl.com/h7xokwj.
Hi Mary,
Please provide me with your order number and I'm happy to look into this further.
