I sent my bag in to sell and got $12 in credit. I was expecting that much but was excited to use the 40% off coupon and free shipping. My second package came in within a week. When I looked to see where my second package was, it had been stuck in LA for a week and a half. I contacted thred up to ask for advice or to cancel the order and get credit and only got an automated response. I was hoping to use thred up more but since I dont even have all that I ordered and I cant even return it now, I dont think I will be anymore.
5/13/2019 As an update I think that the customer service has improved and I have gotten a better response from them. They ended up refunding me. The last time I spent about $100 but got 1/2 a wardrobe of clothes. I like the clothes that I have gotten from them. I even found a brand new pair of knee high boots from Chinese Laundry. When I get discount cards then I like to use them. I just sent in my box of clothes to sell. Hopefully I will get a lot back. I noticed the prices of the clothes are a little more expensive now and the buy back return is not as high as before. I don't usually buy anything unless I have credit, free shipping or I have a coupon. Overall I have been pretty happy with the clothes. Some are hit or miss.
Once my 'first' order was placed (21 items), I received an email with the proclamation that I had saved $1,026.90. That number is based on what ThreadUP perceived the items were worth as 'new'. I had one item out of 21 that came NWT, the other 20 were 'gently used'.
My items came in three deliveries, due to items coming from three different facilities. I knew this going in, as each item clearly shows which location it would be coming from. Order was placed on March 23 2018, and the final third box arrived today April 3,2018. From start to finish, it took eleven days for those items to all arrive. Not bad.
Cons:
One of two belts I ordered was constructed of an elastic waist band. Not worth the $9.99 I paid, the elastic was clearly stretched out and past it's prime. (Q. C. issue).
A blouse (wrap design) was missing the left cuff button (Q. C. must have been asleep at the wheel on that one). Good thing I know how to sew, have needles and thread. Now I just need to find a button.
Pricing could be a little better, as some items are worth the money spent and others can easily be found at local thrift shops.
Some clothes had odors; detergent, dryer sheet, perfume. Nothing bad, however I have to question whether or not garments have been properly washed prior to sellers sending them in to ThreadUP.

I absolutely LOVE thredUp! I'm obsessed with designer clothing, handbags and shoes - and I've purchased so many one-of-a-kind designer pieces at such amazing prices on this site & have completely revamped my designer wardrobe! I've also had fantastic experiences selling with thredUP. They've accepted a high percentage of each of my Clean Out bags and do such a fantastic job listing my items - great pictures and descriptions, and they price them fairly to sell! I can't say enough good things about my shopping and selling experiences on thredUP! I'm addicted!
The clothes are solid I wear a few of the dresses consistently - just hope that you dont have any issues like me because 3 months later I still havent gotten any reply from them after my first initial response that they will look into it. I had 20 items in my cart, and overnight all but two or three went up in price significantly. Some nearly doubled in price. There are few items I'd purchase now; even though these are pre-owned, they are still charging way too much. It's such a shame, because I was purchasing like crazy from them before this happened. Also, they have started shipping my items much slower. It says 3-8 days, but the circuitous route these packages take around the country takes about 2 weeks to reach me now. Very disappointed in the downturn this company has taken. And in the fact that they have no email or phone number to contact customer service.
The clothing I ordered were size Lg, when I received the items the were a size Lg Tag but they fit like a size Sm..

I purchased a rain jacket and after wearing it 3 times it came apart at the shoulders. It is irreparable. It was bought brand new with tags but apparently it is not a good brand. After posting a somewhat negative review on sitejabber, the rep from ThredUP offered me a one-time full refund and I am satisfied that they take care of their customers! I didn't feel the inferior quality of the product was ThredUP'S issue, however upon them learning about my dissatisfaction, they stepped up and took responsibility. That in my mind is the action of a customer-service driven company. :)

I love being able to shop past styles online. The order I placed was easy, fast, and super efficient. The quality of what I received was mixed but I attribute that to just the limited ability to figure out the quality of the items. I think ThredUP is a great service overall.

Total waste of item. First I bought so items. They looked cute online and said they were in great condition. My lucky brand flats I bought HAD MUD AND MARKINGS ON THEM. They look awful. I paid 15$ for those. Plus a blouse I bought looked totally different. I ordered a closet clean out kit before my items received. Today I shipped the items I put in the kit. Got a email saying I have to pay $10 for the kit. That was never mentioned when I ordered the kit. But now that I shipped it with my items I have to pay?! Customer severice is a joke. They are never available or responded. I will never use this company again.
Update: they did give me money back on my shoes. I sent a giant bag of items and only got $3. The bag was completly full. Still wont ever use thred up again.

I sent ThredUp some very nice, high end clothes and received only $15 in return. Not to mention that I have to wait 14 days to get my money. They want you to use the credit to shop at their website and I think their hope is that you forget about your credit (like an unused gift card) and never redeem it. I will not be using this business again. Oh, I also sent 2 pairs of shoes, one which had never been worn, and received nothing in return. If your clothes arent current, they give your nothing, even if they are very nice and unused. If you have things that are two or three years old, forget it. I will be using eBay as I usually do. Im sad that I waisted my time with this company.

Make sure that if you want a REFUND you click the 2nd or 3rd option. It defaults to the first option which is store credit. Their convenient "policy" is that once you click Start Return you can't change your choice, even if you catch your mistake right away. Customer service never responds... I've sent a couple of emails and no response after a week. And of course, I can't find a phone number. BS.

Thredup will rob you! You send in our things (nice things that are totally up to date, they just don't fit right), and then they do not give you back the things that they won't take. I sent in a Gucci bag that was like new, and they said they couldn't except it... I bought it from thredup and never used it! I told them I wanted it back and they said they'd lost it. They keep your stuff, don't payout, and are just all together sketchy folks. Now, they keep sending me emails saying that another one of my items has been sold, but my credit balance doesn't change? I sent in a lot of truly nice things that just do not fit (and the Gucci bag), and they gave me $2 and some change. I have to find another online store like this that is honest with some good ol' grass roots!

I'm ashamed to say I gave them another shot. Sent in 2 more bags and their processing time has improved, down from 6 weeks to 1 once the bag arrived. BUT the pay out amounts have not. First bag sent back had several items with tags/never worn (4 out of the 9 items accepted) and was offered less than $15 ($14.65 to be exact - not even $2 an item). That is ridiculous based on how much they'll mark everything up for the resale.
I know, I know, "Fool me once..." but come on!
Don't bother if you think you're going to be offered a lot. And I wouldn't buy knowing how little the sellers receive.

I've sent 4 bags and the first 2 were accepted and the cash up front amount I received back was OK. However the third bag was a different story. First it took them almost a month and a half to process, then you have to wait 2 weeks to cash out, and a fee to "up-cycle" the non accepted items. I would be OK with this if they would at least tell you what was not accepted and why. (Because I think we all think our items are worth more than what they offer). Plus I think they don't offer as much back on each consecutive bag you send in.
Granted I was not using any of the items, but they priced a dress for $26 and I only was paid $10 for the entire bag (only 7 items were accepted, one on consignment and that bag was FULL). My items are good, and in great shape (EVERY item I've sent in has sold, one on the first day it was listed). And the descriptions of items are way off base. "Minor pilling"? Where? "Stains can be improved after washing?" Where? At this point I'd rather donate to Good Will. This whole process is a border line scam. I'm cashing out and not looking back.
Paid $11.99 for expedited shipping. Ordered on Wednesday morning, and it is Monday night and still no package. Emailed 3 times no response. Sucks cause I was a regular purchaser.

I have tried customer service, no one will respond. I purchased two items, both listed as 5X, shipped separately. Both were actually medium not even plus size. So you want me to pay you $8.99 to return the items and get my money back for your mistake. Seriously? You don't respond to e-mails or phone calls. There should be a law -- oh I bet there is. I will never use this company again. I purchased some item and was unable to return them. I sent several emails and never got my problem solved. I was told to use the chat icon but there was no icon when I logged on. I only had 14 day to return my items and I was unable to get my problem solved within the 14 day. Both my husband and I called because we could not figure out how to return the items. We also called and left messages on a phone number and no one returned my calls. Now I am stuck with several items that did not fit me and a few that were stained therefore, I cannot wear them to work. As a teacher on a very limited budget, I cannot afford to spend money on clothing and now I have several pieces of clothing that I cannot wear.

Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.

Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.

Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.

I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.

You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
