Do your research first before signing up for the free trial or full service.
My sons both have Androids. I was able to download the app... it was very time consuming and confusing but I downloaded the app successfully.
I signed up for the free trial. What they don't tell you, is you can't see all the information they advertise when you get the free trial so they then prompt you to get the full version. Got the full version. Still couldn't see any information. Called customer service. The guy told me it takes at least an hour for the all the data to download. That sounded shady. I waited and three days later none of the features worked. I cancelled my subscription. I'll be closely monitoring my credit card to make sure they don't keep charging me. I don't know who they have running the show but the app is terrible and the customer service was awful as well.
Having control over what our kids do is part of our parenting duty. I see all sorts of horrible stories on the news and can't believe our children are being victims of cyberbullying, sexting, predators and other terrible things out there. I decided to sign up for teensafe and don't regret it for a second. It is a great tool and affordable. You cannot take for granted the safety of your children... be alert.
Tried the trial version of teen safe for the I phone. I was having problems with it retrieving the data. I called customer service to get help and get a few questions answered but wasn't getting any clear answers. So I asked to talk to the manager and I was hung up on. From what I understand the android version works pretty well but the I phone has some major flaws. The way it works is you give them the apple id and password for the phone you want to monitor and every night the phone does a i cloud backup of the phone which they can then have access to and display it on your parental dash board. The trouble you run into is if the phone receives a call or text or notification of any kind during the back up it fails to finish the backup and you don't have the newest data the next day. So you could go 30 days without it ever backing up correctly and you are basically paying for nothing. So until they can improve the I phone side of it i will pass.
I tried this and got absolutely NO information from it at all. I called to cancel, but was charged anyway. It took me several times per week for three months to try to get a refund and they wouldn't give me one stating I did not cancel. SCAM. Spyware doesn't work and basically NO customer service. Any good review on this site has to be from them portraying a real customer.
They offer a one week free trial and guarantee you won't be charged if you cancel your subscription before your one week is up. Unfortunately, there is no way to cancel! The website seriously has no information on how to cancel and if you call the company you will be put on hold FOREVER! I tried numerous times and was on hold for over 20 minutes before I gave up! No operator ever answered my call no matter which "option" I clicked on for service.
Sincere thanks to TeenSafe guys for letting us have a free trial. This app is so complicated, took me days to get an idea. I installed FamilyTime parallel to Teensafe just to have a better idea which one is better (since both have free trials) familytime guys have keept it safe. I liked how they play it all safe. No spying and stuff. Also FT is only for sonme bucks and TS is for 14 bucks. That's quite a lot of money i will pay for an app that works sometimes and force-closes all the time. I think FamilyTime can give other parental apps a good completion pretty soon. New app but very neat
I see people saying it's a scam, it doesn't work... but it does work... at least for me it does. It allows me to know where my daughter is physically and at least that gives me some sense of relieve.
The app does not work. I primarily was using this app to obtain deleted text messages, but they would not appear and if they did, they were partial text messages which were unreadable. The app would not sync with phone and is not easy to navigate. There are much better choices out there that allow you to monitor the phone activity real time. I would not recommend this.
Greetings,
We’re sorry your experience was frustrating and incomplete. From the challenges you mention you may be an iPhone user as the Android monitoring is in real time. Apple has upgraded their securing measures which makes it more difficult for us to provide the best monitoring services.
TeenSafe works well for many parents and others understandably are frustrated. Again, sorry your experience was not satisfactory. The TeenSafe team
I really enjoy when you are in need of a customer service rep and you get great service. I had some questions when I tried to install Teensafe and the rep I spoke to was very savvy and quick in helping me.
TeenSafe and it's business practices are intolerable! First of all, the app doesn't not work as advertised. It rarely linked to the phones to provide up to date information. Secondly, they continue to charge your credit card even after cancelling the service via customer service AND email attempts several times. I had to get the credit card company involved, but they continue to charge! They are a ripoff and would not recommend getting into the service in the first place. I would rate TeenSafe a "0" if I could!
Greetings, Are you sure you are contacting OUR support team? In the past, we have been confused with other monitoring services. This is the TeenSafe contact information (800)245-8598 or email support@teensafe.com. Our U.S. based customer support team works very hard to quickly resolve issues. If you send me your email account we will immediately look into your issue. If an account has been canceled we can't keep charging your card. Please send your email address associated with your account to ruth.doering@teensafe.com and we'll address this immediately.
If I could give a lower rating, I would. I just got out of a customer support message with Teen Safe (LaShondra). I realize that we now have to wait 24 hours to download the latest data. I just tried to download and was not prompted for the Apple ID password - it just went right to attempting to download. I was told there was no back up, but I did a back up last night. I logged back in to try again and was prompted that I cannot get a download for another 24 hours. I contacted customer service and was given instructions on how to do a back up, how to set up the 2-factor authentication (things I already know). The programmers must be overwhelmed or complete idiots. It is not worth the money or the frustration - don't do it!
Elaine,
We are very sorry that you were frustrated. The set-up process can be more complicated if there is a lot of data, apps, etc. The services we offer are technologically very difficult. However, we do have millions of successful transactions and 1000s of parents using TeenSafe Monitor and TeenSafe Control.
Please send me an email ruth.doeing@teensafe.com if you would like to try again. Again, sorry your onboarding was unsuccessful.
I called before I signed up, they said it would do everything I asked about. WRONG - won't track an iPhone - well it will but its 24hours later, they said they are working on it. Then the Apple ID log in has to be reset every day, even though the phone is updated every evening. This means you have to log into Apple and reset it with a new password every day, and then it sill only works sometimes. If you log out and then try to log back in, you have to reset Apple ID. Complete waste of money. I have called the 800# several times, they always answer but always say it is a problem in the system that they are working to resolve, but they cannot give me a date of when problem will be resolved. Don't waste your time or money! Complete waste of money.
Jennifer,
We totally understand your frustration in dealing with the Apple iCloud account lockout issue. We have resources working on this issue but as you can tell Apple is not making it easy for our industry. It is difficult to determine the exact cause, as various factors seem to contribute to account lockouts and they can happen instantly or can be delayed by a day or more. Moreover, not every customer who performs the same pattern of actions is affected in the same way.
While detecting the precise cause is difficult the issue is industry-wide and affects all monitoring services.
That is why we are offering a credit to existing customers as the tool is currently not working for some of our customers as well as it used to work. Again, we do understand your frustration and do hope we can fix the issue. Best, the TeenSafe team
When looking back at the old days I wonder how my parents used to track me down or know what I was doing when all I used was my diary. Now that I am a parent and know that my daughter is exposed to so many things out there on the web, I really need to make sure she is hanging out with the right people and not doing crazy things. One of the features of Teensafe is allowing us to monitor some apps like KIK and Instagram which are very popular and my daughter uses. This is one of the reasons I decided to purchase the app and do not regret it for a second. I feel that I am taking a responsible and proactive attitude raising my child by making sure she is safe.
It's always good to have the possibility to rely on tools that can help with today's parenting. Kids are proned to so much info that you need to keep up and tools like Teensafe can really make the difference when you are trying to do a good job as a parent.
This week I read about the tragic event about Nicole Lovell, the teenage girl who lost her life and was a victim of this cyberworld we live in. She exposed herself on different social media channels and was prey for those coldhearted individuals who have no respect for human life. I want to share with all parents this article about this horror story so you keep it in the back of your head that the only one who can protect your children is you http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/tech/What-Parents-Need-to-Know-About-New-Smartphone-Apps-*******.html.
Teensafe came out with the 2016 App Blacklist and recommend you check it out http://www.teensafe.com/blog/new-year-new-apps-block-teensafe-2016-app-blacklist/
My main concern is the lack of sleep my child gets when he jumps on that phone at nights and can't get off of it. My wife and I decided to try the Teensafe Manage app which allows you to lock the phone at any time. So now we lock his phone at nights around 8:30 pm so he can sleep well and unlock it at 7 am when he goes to school. We spoke to him about it, and even though he wasn't excited about it he respects the rules.
Not a good choice.
Too many 3rd party kinks. In the system.
It's theoretically good. But. This is the thing that I have found out.
Using this with an iPhone may not work as well as you think.
All iPhones back up to iCloud.
Yet not all do it every night.
But when it does. The teensafe will be avail to update.
I have tried teensafe on 2 different iPhones. And the iPhones did not update everyday automatically... after a call to apple regarding this issue. I was informed that the iCloud may not update on a daily basis. Even when you set it up for an automatic update. And this leads to teensafe issues.
You see. I want to know what's going on with my kids phone use on a daily basis. At least within 24 hours.
Not when the iCloud on their phone updates. The update may have at least a week interval before an update. And that's too late.
It's not a teensafe fault. Yet teensafe should mention this before you commit to using it..
No matter how much you want to use this to protect your child all this software is doing is making it easier for the predators to locate your children. All they need is their apple id and password and they have access to all your childs infromation.
This use to be good but now my kids get locked out of apple ids at least 3x a week. I followed TeenSafe directions to supposedly fix this (which took me over 4 hours) to create new apple ids uninstall reinstall and still being locked out of their phones. I called support and they don't even know how to fix it. What a nightmare and waste of time.
Anissa,
We are very sorry that you are having this issue -- in rare cases, the process they took you through doesn’t resolve the problem and is still being researched by our engineering team.

I used this to monitor my daughter's texts, but it kept locking her out of icloud and requiring re-sets. I wasn't getting up to date information until icloud backed up manually for me. I couldn't even locate and monitor her texts when she was away for spring break, which was one of the main reasons I wanted it.

Answer: Yes, we do work in Canada. This may have useful information for you https://www.teensafe.com/blog/faq-everything-need-know-install-teensafe-childs-phone/
Answer: The tech team says this all depends on the number of text messages sent, time, period between iCloud being shut off etc. and depends on how Apple iCloud works. If said messages are saved in the backup then yes. We can't guarantee this if turned off. So it is best to leave the iCloud backup on.
Answer: Hmmm, not sure Steve. Sorry you are having an issue. Please reach out to our customer support team to help you. You can call (800)245-8598 or email support@teensafe.com. Or send us your email here and can have them look up the account for you.

Answer: As a parent, it buys me peace of mind. I want to know if they're being cyberbullied, or approached by and responding to questionable characters, or if they're being pressured to send inappropriate photos, or if they're sending texts that could be misinterpreted, etc. While they are maturing want to parent them through the digital minefields. I also use the schedule feature so they don't have access to their phones at night and I pause the phone's functionality while they're driving. Hope this helps.
Answer: If you use TeenSafe Monitor the child's phone does not show the app. However, at TeenSafe we believe we deliver powerful tools that are even more powerful if they know you're using them.
TeenSafe has a rating of 2.1 stars from 131 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with TeenSafe most frequently mention customer service, free trial and credit card. TeenSafe ranks 97th among Parenting sites.
Greetings,
This sounds infuriating, we’re sorry that this has been your experience. Our goal is to deliver the best monitoring tool parents can use to keep their teens and tweens safe.
The service we offer is technologically difficult and this can be reflected in the installation process. However, we do have millions of successful transactions and 1000s of parents using our services.
There are several issues that significantly hamper installation and the amount of time it takes to download including age of computer and phone, available storage space on the phone and computer and weak WiFi coverage.
We’re sorry that our US-based customer service team did not win your confidence or were unable to fix this for you. We will look into this and strive to do better next time. Please send me your email address so we can resolve ruth.doering@teensafe.com.
