If I could give them 0 stars I would. 3 weeks ago I purchased a washing machine from Home Depot. Little did I know that Home Depot farms their installation out to Temco. Temco's installers did not connect the water hose properly to the washer which resulted in 1 inch of water all over the first floor of my condo by the next morning, less than 18 hrs after they installed the washer. I filed a claim with Home Depot which they farmed out to Temco as the installer. Temco has denied my claim as I don't have 'in the moment footage of the leak" and "tampered" with the connection before they could see it and therefore cannot prove it is their installers fault (ie. First instinct was not to take a photo but to try to stop the water leak and further flooding of my house and getting to my neighbor's house as I live in a condo). This is insane since I never had water in my house before they came and the water was coming from the washer hose!

Home Depot & Temco have been absolutely useless in this process and are taking no responsibility to solve this or take liability for the issue. If Home Depot farms their deliveries out to a 3rd party that is not the consumer's issue and Home Depot should be claiming liability for their subcontractors work and customers should not have to be dealing with their subcontractors who they did not purchase from.

I have over $50K in damages to my home (walls had to be torn out, kitchen cabinets torn out, tiles damaged, all appliances removed) and cannot live in my house properly with no appliances. Over 3 weeks since the incident and I am no closer to a resolution and nothing has been done to get my home back in order.

So note to consumers, buyer beware if you ever purchase anything from Home Depot, they do not know what they are doing for a simple washing machine install and good luck getting them to help you or take liability for any issues they, or their subcontractors, cause. And even if your house is flooding, take pictures and videos "in the moment" or you too could be stuck in this type of nightmare.

Ongoing saga of the missing merchandise...
February 19, 2020
Updated review

(Update to update: Ended up canceling my order because HD kept dropping the ball. In the end, it seemed that all the "Resolutions" Department did was hand the matter back to Reddaway Trucking. And since the incompetence of the trucking company was the crux of the problem, nothing was done to resolve this. I waited a couple more weeks, made a few more calls to HD, and... nothing. I got a phone call today that was identified, by my Caller ID, as coming from the trucking company. But when I answered, the caller said nothing. Just breathed into the line. I phoned HD and asked for Resolutions. Was asked too many questions by the rude customer service rep before he would transfer me, even though I had a case number. And then he transferred me to a STORE, instead of Resolutions. I decided that I had truly entered one of the circles of Hell when I ordered from Home Depot, and that I might be drawn further toward the center if I continued with this. So I phone again and canceled the order. NEVER AGAIN! How in the wold does this company stay in business?)

(Update two days later: HD has not gotten back to me, and they PROMISED, and I am on endless hold waiting to speak to the Resolutions department. Unbelievable.)

Quel surprise: no one at Home Depot followed up on the promised "rescue" of my shipment from the evil trucking company that has it and refuses to deliver it. So I had to waste more time phoning HD Resolutions Department. The short story is that no one knows for sure where my shipment is. I might still be with Reddaway. Probably. HD assumes that it is. But I won't find out until tomorrow. And then I'll have to wait for what, another week? Until another trucking company can go and pick it up from Reddaway and then bring it to me. Eventually. Maybe. I hope.

Adding insult to injury, when the the HD employee phoned me back, after phoning Reddaway, he told me the call was being recorded. He over explained everything, during the call, and was OTT nice, so the recording was obviously for their legal protection. Bunch of scoundrels! They are well aware of their company's poor performance on residential deliveries. Yet they act like this mess is an exception. Look at all the one-star the reviews, HD!

Three delivery no-shows and counting!
February 13, 2020
Previous review

I have been promised delivery on three days (four days of waiting), and every day was a no-show. How do these people stay in business? HD says they cannot control the trucking company, but the trucking company works for HD. I have spent ages on the phone waiting for HD agents, only to have theme do absolutely zip. Ridiculous!

Update: After third no-show, HD resolution center's solution is to "rescue" (their word) my shipment from Reddaway and place it with another carrier. Reddaway told HD that they could not get a truck up my private road. That is a lie, I know, because I had informed them that I needed a smaller truck (my road is accessible for a 26' bobtail truck, but no larger) before the first delivery appointment. I was informed, by Reddaway, that they always send their smaller tucks to deliver in my neighborhood. And did it really take them three delivery attempts to figure out they couldn't get here? No. They never tried to drive up here. Upshot is that I will wait at least another week to get my merchandise.

Never order anything from Home Depot for home delivery! Or even for delivery to a store. It will be a total waste of your time. I have had issues with HD losing smaller orders in the past (one of them was to be delivered to a store), but the latest debacle is the worst nonsense I've gotten from them.

I ordered two enormous, rigid pond liners, to be delivered by an outside freight carrier (Reddaway Trucking, which is also thoroughly incompetent). The trucking company gave me a four-hour delivery appointment, and then never showed up. I phoned them and got nothing but confusion, so then I tried phoning Home Depot. They called the trucking company, which said the items would be delivered on another day. Just to make things more frustrating, the Home Depot agent told me that I did not need to be present for delivery, as it was just a curbside drop off, so the four-hour appointment for which I had driven to the property and waited all afternoon had been unnecessary! I demanded a refund of my shipping fee, for the missed delivery, and I was refunded.

The next day, no one had contacted me about a future delivery date, so I again phoned HD. The agent told me the items would be delivered that day. Once again, the truck never showed up. So I called HD again, and got the runaround. Asked for a supervisor, and was refused. So at the moment I am out about $500 and have lost a day and a half to waiting for a delivery that may or may not be the correct items. That last detail refers to the fact that the trucking company has my shipment logged as "window coverings," instead of pond liners. They would not confirm the size of the box or crate, which might give me an idea whether the correct items were shipped. What they told me was that I should refuse the shipment if it is the wrong thing.

I cannot believe that a company as huge as HD could be so disorganized and clueless. You would think that any trucking company HD contracted with would go out of their way to provide good service, so as to keep the contract. Yet Reddaway Trucking thinks nothing of just blowing off deliveries. And HD is fine with that? Amazing.

Criminal Action
November 1, 2023

I ordered a vanity from Home Depot. It arrived destroyed, so I sent it back. I ordered it again with gift card credit this time. It stole the money from the gift card and then canceled the order from their side. They said they didn't know why and would investigate and return my call. They never did. I spent 2 weeks trying to recoup the money they stole and finally got most of it, not all of it, back. They pocketed the remaining stolen money.

I ordered the vanity for the 3rd time since now I only had Home Depot gift cards, and it arrived broken again. This time I sent it back before the truck could leave. Home Depot still had the money from the emptied gift card from this most recent order. They said they couldn't send it back due to "system issues". I've spent a month and a half trying to order the vanity. I've spent over a week trying to get back my money they stole. When I write Customer Service, they say they're still having "system issues" and close the conversation if I push it. When I call, they say they're still having "system issues" and hang up if I push it.

Between all 4 orders they've cumulatively stolen over $1400, wasted at least 12 full hours on the phone with me, and caused me to miss my construction date, meaning I'll have to hire another contractor to finish the job. At this point, I'm just going to go ahead and say that they're trying to steal the money. They've made 3 claims of investigations and 10 claims of "we'll call you back" and never followed up on a single one. All these claims are backed up by Home Depot itself who doesn't deny them but instead just kept the money and the vanity and keep repeating "system issues" for weeks and I guess assumes they get to keep the money now.

My first attempt to "save time" with on line ordering was a total disaster. Took 37 minutes while several employees called asked others for directions on how to find an on line order. Also, LONG line for "fast pickup" as it is the same line as the returns line! I decided, "things happen", and tried an on line order again recently, 4 or so months since the first negative experience, and noticed they seem to now have a
Separate line for pick up. Second time MUCH WORSE. Almost 45 min. Wait after I had printed off my email that the order was "ready for pickup" and still no one had any idea where the orders for pick up are kept. Some thought in the return area, others thought they were on an enclosed "porch" like area at the entrance. Finally I had to leave due to an appointment. To shorten this, went back TWICE AFTER the first and still, no one could find my order. To their credit, after my calls and email to them, the manager DID call me personally. Told me they were cancelling my order and suggested I go on line and ORDER AGAIN. I really needed this trimmer/edger so I went to Loews and just bought the item (did not do on line order in an attempt to "save" time at Loews). About three weeks AFTER all this, I received an email from HD, reminding me that I had never come to pick up my order? Guess three times with my "order ready for pick up" email in hand didn't count? I was thinking "who's on first at HD"? Overall, my experiences at a range of HD stores in my general area have been constant employee turn over I base that so many employees who seem to be confused about where things are in general, or not knowing various policies, etc.), and not happy in general.
Some are very friendly and helpful, others seem VERY defensive and hostile at the most simple question? Guess that's just the "luck" or "not" of hiring and training? I do wonder how Ace does such a perfect job of hiring (do they just "fire" someone on the spot if they are rude to customers? What I hate most is I am a stockholder, a small one of course, but hate what I am seeing lately at HD.

I purchased a kitchen remodel from Home Depot. The cabinets and countertops cost approximately $6000. They use GreenCraft Interiors as the installer of choice. GreenCraft came over, measured, did the plans and wrote the bid. Without dissecting the entire over inflated bid, one big ticket item included was demolition and removal of the old kitchen cabinets. GreenCraft's bid for this service was $1,780.00 There are a total of 8 cabinets. To make a long story short, I used Starburst Building Suppiy (a non profit business) to have the demolition done. Cost? $125.00. The two gentlemen they sent were clean, professional and efficient. They were here a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes, removed counters, cabinets, countertops, disconnected plumbing, appliances and swept the kitchen. GreenCraft interiors charges over $1700 for the identical service. Home Depot's manager defended their pricing policy though was unable to explain why a figure of almost $1,800 dollars was justified for one hour and 15 minutes worth of work. I am not suggesting GreenCraft is shoddy or does bad work, I have no evidence of that fact. I am suggesting however, they pad their bills, overcharge customers and have no qualms of making gigantic windfalls from unsuspecting persons. Use them with caution, review the bid, get second opinions from other contractors before you use them. GET A SECOND BID. Calls to Home Depot Assistant Store Manager Phil Goosic were unproductive. He spent the entire call defending the outrageous price and never once said "let me look into it" or anything remotely "managerial" He was the epitome of unprofessional. On a high note, I must not drag Alfonso the Kitchen Designer into this mess. He was wonderful and continues to be wonderful.

This review is referencing the Home Depot location in Pittsburg, CA. Long story as short as possible, when our dishwasher was delivered, the delivery guy informed us that the cord and adapter kit they sent was not what we paid for (we paid for a 5ft cord/adapter, they sent a 3ft cord/adapter) and that these items were not long enough for him to connect everything up. He also informed us that he could not wait for us to go to our local Home Depot and purchase the 5ft cords/adapter (that we had already paid for) again. As a result, we were left with the new dishwasher in the middle of our kitchen and a hole where the old dishwasher used to be. So, I called Home Depot and was connected to a customer service rep "Dawnisha". And I use the term "customer service" very loosely in this instance. From the start of our conversation Dawnisha was rude. She didn't want to listen to anything I had to say and attempted to overtalk me as often as possible. By the end of our conversation she was d**m near belligerent. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor because it was clear that she had no intention on attempting to find a solution to the issue. After about 15 minutes on hold (I'm sure she thought I would become frustrated and hang up), she finally connected me with a supervisor (I think her name was Michelle) whose idea of a solution was to have someone place the 5ft cord/adapter on hold for us to pick up and to reschedule the installation for another 7 days out. Meanwhile, I guess we were supposed to just squeeze around the dishwasher sitting in the middle of our kitchen for another 7 days. We ended up contacting a plumber (shout out to Stephen at GM Pro Plumbing in Concord, CA) who came out within 2 hours and hooked our dishwasher up. Home Depot did refund the fee we paid for the cord/adapter (because we had to buy it again) and the installation. We still will never purchase anything from them again.

I ordered an entire set of kitchen appliances on November 13 2023. Refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher, etc.… We are Building a kitchen around the appliances and need them installed. However the promised December 9 install date came and they called and said it would be pushed back until January. 15th! I called and told them that was in acceptable and then they assured me it would be delivered December 30. So, I rescheduled my kitchen build. Again. Two days before that delivery date, I received another message stating it was going to be delayed until January 30th!? I called and went to a local store and was livid. They told me it was the range that was on backorder, and Samsung will not ship anything but the entire order even though everything else is in stock. I told him that was unacceptable, I'm literally wasting hundreds of dollars in labor every time they don't show up. So, again they assured me it would be delivered January 9th. Again, I rescheduled my kitchen install and guess what!? Today I receive an email stating it will be February 13th! I even cancelled the range from the order so they would actually ship it but nope. Still can't meet their commitment. Now They of course promise it will be next Tuesday. I doubt it. In fact; I will pay double for the whole package if they actually make that date, but they won't. They keep passing the buck to Samsung but I didn't buy anything from Samsung, I bought from Home Depot and they are acting totally unaccountable for this debacle. Do not buy from Home Depot. This was a Tremendously frustrating and expensive mistake. I will be demanding a refund and going elsewhere. I can literally swim to South Korea faster than they can ship me a refrigerator!? 3 months of empty promises and wasting my time is enough. I'm done with this dump.

I had great difficulty in scheduling my washer delivery. The day before delivery my appointment was changed from 8 AM to 4-7 pm. I advised Home Depot and even a Manager that my association didn't allow deliveries after 6 PM. No one could help me to confirm that it would be delivered by 6. Truck came at 4, while it was raining. Driver refused to bring the washer up my driveway and into the house. I even offered to pay him an extra $40. He said he would wait 15 minutes and call me if when he left. He just left and I was left out in the cold. I reported it to Home Depot right away and asked they send the driver back since it stopped raining. They called the dispatcher of the independent delivery company and said he would not send the truck back. They wanted to reschedule but I wouldn't deal with Home Depot ever again. I cancelled my order, which they could have cared less. Employees are not empowered and worthless.
TIP: AFTER CANCELLING MY ORDER I WENT TO BRANDSMART WHERE I RECEIVED THE SAME WASHER FOR ABOUT $100 LESS AND WILL BE DELIVERED BY THERE OWN TRUCKS!
Also, Home Depot will continue to loose business to Amazon since by the time I'm given a SKU to look for in an aisle of 10,000 SKUs I could order at amazon and have the same or next day. Worst processes and customer relations of any Company I've dealt with in decades. Wasted my time but saved money at BRANDSMART!

1) Couldn't get the installation of flooring I had scheduled & confirmed a month ahead of flying across the country to refurbish my in-laws house prior to sale. I was forced to find a tile contractor and install the laminate/baseboards myself. Found that material was grossly overestimated fans would have been not only charges for material but also labor that would not have been done. Cabinet refining excluded the exposed edge of the face frame. Had to purchase and install edge laminate. Took 2 days and had to pay a helper.
2) Took a Toro has weed-eater multi-head for repair. They had it for 2 months -kept saying "waiting for parts". Finally took it back, got new carburetor kit online and fixed it myself.
3) ordered a stacking washer/dryer and paid for installation. Went day before installation to store to measure for dryer vent & noticed a staking assembly on the store units. When I asked the assoc about it because it wasn't listed in my order she said yes it is needed and has to be purchased separately. But they don't stock them. Found one 20 miles away at a different store and had it for installation. They come and say "since it wasn't purchased at HD we can't install it. Dryer is still sitting in garage with the gas line and dryer vent I purchased as part of installation price.
4) Bought an EGO mower from HD. While under warranty the self-propelled mechanism goes out. EGO says to take it to HD, so I do. I check back in 2 weeks and they "can't find it". A few days later they find it and send it out. A month goes by and I hear crickets so I stop to check on it. I eventually get the phone # and CSA # for HD off-site repair center. After a week I call them for status and they say they haven't received it yet and will have a manager look into it. So it's been about 2 months and no mower. If I didn't have access to another, my HOA would be all over me and I would have had to hire a service -which would be several hundred $$$ to this point.
I guess when you pay people $10/hr, they really don't give a damn about customer service.

Awful Customer Service
December 27, 2019

We ordered a washer and dryer for my aunt who can no longer leave the house without assistance from Home Depot in Secane a few weeks prior to Thanksgiving. The delivery date was set for 12/18/19; the appliance was scheduled to be delivered between 9-1. The delivery company was no call/no show. We called the store around 1:30 to check the status of the delivery only to learn the company "forgot" to put her items on the truck. We were given a 10 day reschedule date despite it being their fault that the items weren't delivered. The Store Manager, "Johnny" to date had not return my phone calls. I called the corporate office; reportedly "Johnny" didn't return their outreach either. Today the items were supposed to be delivered between 7-11. Again no call/no show with the items. Again I called the store and the Manager was unavailable. Again I called the corporate office and was told the delivery truck was running behind; and that someone would call me soon; and to expect the delivery in a half hour or around noon. At 2p.m. I called back to check the status of the delivery and was told after waiting since 7 a.m. that they tried to deliver the items but no one was home. This is not true of course. They have rescheduled now for 1/3/20. I have not ever received a response from the Store Manager to date. The delivery company is West Side and they are totally unprofessional.
Everyone to whom I've spoken at Home Depot has been cavalier about the lack of professionalism displayed by the store manager and the delivery company. The moral of the story, go to LOWES or any place else, and don't use West Side delivery. Extremely disappointed but wise enough to know that I will not be purchasing items from Home Depot again.
