Hi Betty, you can also return without receipt if you purchased using your credit card. Give them the same CC and they can tell the price you bought at.

If you purchased it within 90 days take it back if it was more than 90 days, toss it out and buy a new one.

Call home depot and find out what they have to say. Never hurts to start with the right end of the horse.

It would depend on what some time ago was. If you have the receipt I bet they will still take them back

Greetings,
I'm not quite sure what "some time ago" means. Not sure what the 'green liquid' is either.
However, that's not really important...
Simply, use care since you don't know what the liquid is and take your product back to HD with your receipt, if available.
Be polite, explain your issue, show them the problem, and ask for their help... usually that's all it will take. I'm very confident that they'll answer your questions and resolve your problem.
Best wishes and Happy Holidays to all...

I'm assuming you bought the light rope from Home Depot. I have rope lights that are green, but there isn't any liquid. Maybe what you have is glow rope? It would glow in the dark if it was. I would bring it back to the store. I doubt that there is anything dangerous with the liquid. But I'm sure if you asked them for a refund, they'll work with you. GOOD LUCK!
