DO NOT USE FAREDEPOT
April 20, 2015

They cancelled my flight a day before my departure date but managed to charge my credit card. Safe to say I was dealing with scam artists.

Hi Teed,

We apologize for the inconvenience. We're not sure what could have happened, we don't cancel flights on our end. Have you tried to reach out to the airline?

Sincerely,

This is a fraud company which attracts you showing cheap prices and traps you if by any chance you need to reschedule your trip. Worst experience which made me decide never to go with these greedy lesser known sites (with zero customer ethics and dump customer service) even if they offer lower prices.

On Aug 4th 2014, I purchased two air tickets in Etihad airlines through faredepot for me and my wife to fly from LA to Trivandrum and back. The journey was planned on December and due to some unforeseen events, I had to postpone the trip by a week. I approached Faredepot first to get this rescheduled, but they quoted a change fee+ penalty that was more that a fresh ticket's to-and-fro flight charges available for Etihad at the same time. This was completely unacceptable to me and I checked with them what would be my refund if I cancel the tickets. They informed that I would have zero refund if I cancel this! They were mentioning that the money has gone to Etihad and not to them and to contact Etihad for any refund request. When I called up Etihad, they told that since I booked through faredepot, they are helpless and I have to go through faredepot to get any refund.

Whole of Nov 2014, I have been in discussion with their customer service to figure out a solution. Two instances worth mentioning here. At one point, I asked the customer care rep to escalate the call and place me in call with a customer service manager. He was reluctant. I told that I am not going to disconnect the call unless I get to speak with a higher official. They muted my line and I was on hold for 20 mins and finally they disconnected the call. Initially when I asked them if they could change just one person's departure date, they told that it is not possible. But after two weeks when I was getting frustrated (and by that time the ticket cost got higher) they told that they can do it and denied it completely that they told it the other way initially.

Their excuse is that the contract is between the payer and airlines and they cannot do much on this. This is when, you find plenty of local agents who helps the customer during unforeseen changes/delays. I lost almost $1500 with them and I am hell ashamed to have been fooled by them.

I wish I had read these reviews before booking. I searched for flights to Europe via SkyScanner, found what I wanted and was re-directed to FareDepot. I made my purchase and the next day discovered an error in the booking to a connecting flight. I called to see if it could be rectified and was told yes, but for a couple hundred $'s more, so I confirmed via email (as requested) and was told the change was made. Weeks later I thought I should check via the carrier's website and found to my horror, the entire outbound portion of my flight had been cancelled.

I called FareDepot about this and they claimed the airline cancelled my booking. So I called the airline and was told the reason my flight had been cancelled was because FareDepot did not enter the ticket data correctly so they couldn't issue the tickets. They even sent FareDepot a warning message through the booking system to let them know they needed to enter the correct ticket numbers into the booking or it would be cancelled. The deadline came and went and FareDepot did nothing about it.

After umpteen phone calls, all made by me - and having been promised by FareDepot they were "working on it and would be in touch within 24 hours" and NEVER fulfilled those promises, I got passed from person to person. I got given the run-around for weeks on end and spoke to someone different every time I called them. Heavy, hard to understand accents, together with being treated like a nuisance made them VERY difficult to deal with.

They then promised a full refund - with a $200 per ticket cancellation fee because they had offered alternate flights after some weeks of fighting with them that I turned down. I turned those flights down because they cut my vacation short a day and had me and my family (with a 3 year old) doing a 30 hour layover in Europe! And for that they offered just $50 compensation for hotel.

They've partially refunded my money but are now not answering further emails. They owe me thousands of dollars!

I do NOT recommend doing business with this company. There is no such thing as customer service with them. They do not seem to understand the booking process and they don't appear to give a damn about their customers. Worst service ever.

Do not book with Faredepot. They failed to process my travel insurance properly and so caused me to lose nearly $1000 in costs because I could not pursue my claim due to their failure. They accepted liability but then stopped responding to my calls and emails!
Further to their reply, I say as follows:
What a joke your reply was. It is a shame that you do not spend more time actually replying to my emails rather than making up fabricated replies to truthful reviews. I still have not received the courtesy of a reply to my email.
1. The fact that you had made an error on not securing my travel insurance ( as admitted by Michael Bolton of your company in writing on 8 June 2018) was not brought to my attention until I tried to make a claim, not at the time I made the reservation. I had no notice of this whatsoever until it was too late. Positively the reverse is true in that I received written confirmation from Faredepot at the point of reservation that I had travel insurance. Written documents do not lie like you seemingly do!
2. AIG have told me that you ignored their efforts to reach out to you to resolve this too. I also have this in writing from AIG.
3. You didn't try to help rebooking reservation as I had confirmed the booking with you so your suggestion that I rebooked with another travel company and tried to subject you to their charges is completely wrong and made up! I continued with the booking as I had everything in writing telling me that I had booked and furthermore that I had travel insurance. I had no reason to suspect otherwise until it was too late when I tried to make a claim.
Faredepot has in writing accepted liability. There is nowhere for you to go with suggesting you are not at fault. I will start to post the written evidence I have to show all on here how you are con artists. I think I will go to the local news station next and get them to do a big special on Faredepot and how they con their customers!

Hi Zoe, as we discussed with you, at the time you made a flight reservation, travel insurance was not purchased by you. AIG TravelGuard did not generate a policy number for your travel and did not charge your card. We spoke to AIG TravelGuard on your behalf, and they agreed that since you did not purchase insurance and a policy number was not generated, you are not protected under the travel insurance privilege. We tried to help you with rebooking your reservation and accommodation, but you decided to book on your own and accept the charges of other travel providers. FareDepot and AIG TravelGuard cannot accept responsibility for payments you to make to other travel providers with an expectation to receive a reimbursement from us. We appreciate your understanding and feedback and we hope you give us another chance. You can call us at 866-860-2929 or email us at Reservations@faredepot.com. Thank you, FareDepot Support.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a ticketing company. I booked a ticket on March 1,2015 and my flight to Las Vegas from Toronto on March 17,2015 was confirmed. On March 14,2015 I received an email with them saying that since I have an upcoming flight with them, here are some activities I can do at my destination. I get to Pearson on March 17,2015 and get on my flight to Las Vegas. Everything is fine and dandy.

Then on March 24,2015 when I am to return to Toronto, I get to McCarren airport in Las Vegas and discover that I have no ticket as it has been voided. In addition, I found out that I had two tickets inbound to Las Vegas from Toronto, both of which were voided... Which makes no sense as I only booked one ticket and somehow managed to get to Las Vegas. So instead of having one valid ticket, which I thought I had, I had two voided ones.

Regardless, on March 24,2015 I am stranded in Las Vegas being told that I have no return ticket home, because FareDepot.com apparently doesn't book tickets with the airline when you book with them online. So, I had to pay over the table for the entire round trip again. So I paid $363.58 on March 1, and then an additional $574.25 on March 24,2015 so I could return home.

I called FareDepot today to try and understand how on earth this could happen, of course FareDepot could not explain themselves. Not only did they have absolutely no clue what happened, they were completely incompetent and put me on hold 4 times in an hour. They could not explain how I never received notification about a voided ticket either. Thankfully FareDepot does not know what they are doing, because apparently they never charged my credit card on March 1,2015. Though I still had to pay for my roundtrip at an inflated price because of them. So I ended up losing $200 anyway, plus a whole lot of headache.

After booking a flight to Johannesburg through FareDepot at what I felt was a decent price, FareDepot notified me that they had charged a nominal amount to my credit card, supposedly for security purposes, and as soon as I confirmed the amount that they had charged, they would issue my ticket. I thought this was a rather silly process but didn't question it. This was on a Friday evening. After checking my credit card account for two days with no charge appearing, I finally called the credit card company to find out if, indeed, Fare Depot had charged this amount to my card and what the amount was. After some searching, the card company was able to confirm a pending charge, of which I notified FareDepot immediately. In the meantime, with no notice, my reservation had been cancelled and FareDepot advised me that if I wished to rebook the flight I had to start all over again. While I was really annoyed by then, I tried rebooking only to find that the exact same flight was going to cost me $30 more than the original one had. $30 is not a lot of money, but it's the principle that bugs me and the fact that if they had charged the full fare to my credit card in the first place, as I expected them to do, the charge would have been approved, I would not have had to spend more money for another flight, and it would have saved another couple of hours of my time searching for other flights. I do not recommend FareDepot to anyone, and will never use them again. Add to that the fact that in their communication to me their letter was full of spelling and grammatical errors which leads me to believe that this company is not very professional.

I wish I had seen the reviews before I used this site. I had an absolutely atrocious experience using Faredepot.

I booked a flight from Canada to Germany for a very good price about a week ago. After receiving an email from Faredepot saying I needed to verify with my credit card company, I did so, and got back in touch with Faredepot immediately. The first time I phoned, I was asked for my last name, and after having to spell it out multiple times, I was curtly put on hold for 15 minutes without any explanation. I waited, and the person came back on the line only to tell me their system was down and they'd call me back in an hour. I agreed, and no one phoned back. I tried calling multiple times during the day with no response. The following day I called again, and the call was dropped within minutes, which then proceeded to happen another 3 times. I was using a landline, it was definitely their poor system that made this keep happening. I finally spoke with someone, and they said that I hadn't called back in time--which was untrue, I had followed the directions printed in the email to a T--and that my booking had been cancelled. Obviously I was frustrated, and asked them to reinstate it, which the agent said he wouldn't, and that I would just have to make another booking online.
I had never received a ticket, and this person refused to do his job to rectify the problem. I asked to speak with his manager, and I was told he was in a meeting, and that he wouldn't be out for an hour. I said I would just wait on the line, to which the man said that I couldn't. Eventually, I got off the phone with this totally unhelpful person and called my credit card company to ensure money had been refunded immediately. It hadn't. They took the entire amount, and completely illegitimately. I am now dealing with my card company trying to have the amount reversed.

There should really be legislation in place that prevents these kinds of scam companies from existing. The customer service was beyond unhelpful, and I will never use these guys again.

First off, I just want to let you know that any site you go on that reviews this company, any 'positive' feedback that is left is usually by a person that doesn't seem to grasp the English language that well and always praising how great fare depot is. I honestly believe that people from their company just write those reviews, so it's not 100% terrible ratings. Anyway, onto my experience.

I didn't see any reviews before booking my flight and went ahead to buy my ticket. Soon after, I noticed how many people were unhappy and telling how this company is a scam, and honestly it is. I had tried to call many times and they never picked up the phone. I wanted to cancel my ticket and the only way I ever got a response was via email with very broken English. The first email stated to cancel to my ticket, I would have to get charged on my credit card 200 dollars to cancel the ticket. I didn't agree to it and said I'd like to cancel my ticket because it's well within the cancellation period to get refunded. All of a sudden a few days later, I get emailed again and the price went from 200 to 400 dollars to get charged to get my money back. First off, that makes no sense to charge someone extra money on a credit card to get your money back. It seemed very fishy to me so I didn't agree to it.

I now keep getting spammed phone calls from them, asking me to cancel my ticket through email and to pay the fee. What company calls you asking you to cancel? It's my decision if I want to do that and I definitely don't agree to doing so if you're just going to charge me more money and not refund me anything.

With seeing all of these reviews, I can understand why you would never want to book with these guys. They only call you when it's convenient for them to get more money, but when you need something, they don't reply at all or are rude, or even just flat out lie. Don't trust any positive reviews from the company, because it's very shady if you read the reviews that are and how they are worded. Please don't purchase from these people. It's a scam company that try to say they are giving you a great deal, but in the end you end up paying money and not getting a ticket. Even worse, it seems they are in India, so it's international and hard to get paid back because they don't follow the same laws as in the USA. I really hope the company gets shut down, because no one should ever have fraud like these jerks.
