Unprofessional
March 27, 2015

They kept me 3 hours on the phone for something they screwed up and ended up not doing anything. I had to buy a new ticket for something they did wrong.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I feel like I was robbed by Sixt and Expedia. I booked a last minute rental car on June 3rd to pick up at the Boston airport. When I arrived I was told they were not honoring same day bookings and had canceled my reservation. The counter personnel said they were surprised I was able to book it as they had asked for all booking to be suspended because they were out of cars. They said I was to expect the cancelation notice in my mail and a refund in 7-10 days. I did not get the notice (Should have been a red flag) and I have not received my refund. I have contacted Expedia and they said Sixt will not refund my fee because I did not cancel the reservation within the cancelation period. Not sure how I could have since they did not have a car and did not honor the contract. I can not contact Sixts as they only talk to the booking agency not me. I guess Sixt and Expedia are happy they got my $500 and did not have to do a thing for it.

Awful
June 26, 2020

Awful. My wife and I didn't make it to our flight because the company never actually ticketed our booking. We got to the airport with the booking confirmation and confirmed itinerary and the airline told us that there were no tickets in their system since Expedia didn't actually purchase them on their end.
I called them right away, spent 5 hours on the phone with 3 of them on hold with different representatives since they don't bother to give you a call back. They acknowledged the problem and that it was their fault but that's about it. They weren't able to fix the mistake or book another ticket because they didn't want to cover the price difference at first and almost made us to do that. Once I pressed harder they agreed to cover another flight but it was too late since those were sold out already. Had to cancel the entire trip since we had just few days available for it. Our hotel charged us a cancellation fee and car rental service did the same, we paid for Uber to and back from the airport, who will cover the expenses!? They didn't even try to compensate for anything! We had to constantly call them asking for managers who didn't want to talk to us to get to any sort of resolution. I would not expect that kind of customer service from such a big company! Will not recommend them and not going to use their services anymore.

Each revision of the Expedia website gets more and more irritating. To me, the most annoying is the site's popup window just after you have booked a flight or hotel room, asking you if you want to book a hotel (or another room at the hotel), which when you close the window, just pops up another window with yet another "are you sure" type question.

Rather than just closing the second window, I choose that I want to be informed about future deals, and use the e-mail address "*******@expedia.com". This is normally an e-mail address used to forward what you suspect are spoofs of expedia e-mails, so this forces expedia marketing to be send automatically to *******@expedia.com.

I have communicated with *******@expedia.com to confirm that it is active in the Expedia domain, which it is. A real person responds, as they are supposed to be checking manually for spoofs. Thus, it is most like that each marketing e-mail sent in response to my response will be actually looked at by a real person. Makes me feel better for Expedia irritating me.

Should be 0 stars

Expedia is RIDICULOUS! I booked my trip and flights over a month in advance. Days before the trip, the flights were changed & hotel cancelled. Got it straightened out after hours on the phone. It's time to leave & as we get ready to go, our flight was cancelled. Whatever, we stayed another night. We get to the airport to find out that our flight was never transferred by Expedia, after they had charged us over $300 to get this flight. We have been on the phone now for almost 5 hours (the day before when it was originally cancelled, we were on the phone for 6 hours). Because of how long we have waited, we have now missed every flight to any nearby airports -- we were not going to be picky at this point as long as we were closer to home. They are suggesting we wait another 4 days for a flight home. I have absolutely no words. I have worked customer service so I get it is not easy, but they should not be so negligent and slacking so much. It is absolutely ridiculous that I am now stuck 20+ hours away from home after having paid for my flights and then some after it had changed. Other than that our stay at Harborside Suites was absolutely wonderful!

My family and I were on a weekend get away in Sedona Arizona on memorial day weekend. Originally we booked two rooms for Saturday night. Thursday we contacted Expedia and changed the reservations to Friday and Saturday night. The Expedia representative explained to us that they moved our reservation to another hotel for two nights and cancel the reservations at the original hotel. After staying the first night in the second hotel I am contacted by the front desk, they tell me that we need to leave that Expedia only booked our rooms for one night. I contacted Expedia at that time and they explained to me that our original hotel was no longer available and there were no other hotels in Sedona available in our price range, they suggested a hotel 90 miles away or that I drive from hotel to hotel looking for rooms. I had to book 2 rooms at the last minute at another hotel, at 3 times the price. If you think that is enough to ruin your week end getaway, on Sunday morning we get a email from Expedia asking us to rate the original hotel that they told me the day before was no longer available, but they were kind enough to bill me for. After getting back home and talking to Expedia customer service for hours, they except no responsibility whatsoever and offer no reimbursement. Do not trust Expedia with your vacation, they don't care. Expedia also owns, Orbitz, Hotel.com, Travelocity, Priceline and Booking.com. I will not trust any of them with a vacation either. After doing more research I have found that you can get the same price and much better service dealing directly with the hotels.

I paid $109.99 for a hotel through Expedia that I could have paid $87.99 straight through the hotel. They are a rip off, so watch your wallet when you use them. I never will use them again.

Expedia SUCKS! Don't buy the Travel Protection Package. They make it look like you can get all of your money back nice and easy just by paying for the Travel Protection Package but it will be a NIGHTMARE! Once they have your money they hold on for dear life and try as hard as they can to never give it back to you. They can give you the money back for the Hotel but so what most Hotels are easy to work with and let you make last minute changes or cancellations. What's the point of using Expedia then? What are they good for? Last year I used them and the prices went down later after I booked. Looks like it worked out for them. In the mean time your trip sits on your credit card accumulating interest when it is still weeks or months away. From now on I book my flights with the Airline itself, same for the Hotel and use my Hertz Gold for my car rental which gives me a much nicer rental car than Expedias pop-up car rental add on for the same price. No more Expedia, no more fine print, I'm done! BTW Expedia Terms & Conditions, 23 pages long. Your'e screwed.

Pointless booking site
July 4, 2023

I book through expedia all the time and usually get great deals, but am I actually getting great deals? No I recently discovered its cheaper to go through the hotels directly. On 6/22 I accidentally booked aa night for the wrong day. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with expedia and the hotel to get a refund and book the correct day. I also learned that I should have booked directly with the hotel because it was cheaper. 7/2-3 room on expedia showed a higher rate for another hotel when I called this hotel directly to late them know i will be coming in late and I asked the room price it was cheaper. I show up to a hotel on 7/3-4 to find out to a dirty room, then moved to another dirty room. That the shower curtain rod was falling off the wall, there was no bedding provided for the pull out the couch, the pillows I asked for the bedding were dirty. The mattress pad on the pad was disgusting. There was nothing for breakfast and the behind the desk attendant was "kickin' in the office with his feet up". The was down and there was no laundry facility. I called expedia for a refund on the room, they said they would need approval from the hotel. Wait what? So long story short expedia is worthless and a waste of time.

Dishonest travel site
September 23, 2022

NEVER NEVER use this site! Went online to a Vegas casino/hotel to make reservations, got sent to "reservation" site and booked room. When getting ready to travel found they misspelled our last name and hotel could not find us, found out we were booked through Expedia as they represented themselves as booking company for casino. Wrote to Expedia customer service and was told it would cost me $65 to fix their mistake. After several Emails they closed my complaint as "solved" and banned me from writing again. Called casino and explained the problem and talked to dept that handles Expedia travel referrals and they fixed everything and told me Expedia screws customers everyday and next time call directly and verify I am talking to them and make reservation with them. CROOKS, dishonest, charging to fix their own mistakes. This is second time they screwed me, last time i booked flights to a conference and when my tickets were Emailed they were flying me in to airport and leaving an hour later, after calls and Emails, attorney and BBB complaint they refused to fix it and kept my money.CON GAME! STAY AWAY! Would give them a minus 5 rating, but this site only allows positive reviews!
