I am an Expedia customer for the last 15 years. I bought two way tickets 5 months ago and paid $1,499 and because of COVID 19, the return was was cancelled. I did not reach Expedia for 2 months but I got an email saying that I would get the refund!

I called them today, waited for 1 hour, couldn't reach anyone. Then I contacted a real agent online and he told me that I got $0 as a refund! I am very upset that Expedia turned to be a scam company and did not care about their customers. Then why should I ever use Expedia again? You give "silver", "golden" names to your customers but the only thing you care is the money. This is not how the business is done! I will let everyone around me know how Expedia stole half of my money. They owe me $750 and they don't pay back and they don't care! Thank you Expedia! You lost me and you will loose tons of customers!

Booked to Moorea Pearl Resort Spa in Moorea, French Polynesa through Expedia, both gave us the run around when our travel plans changed and informed them accordingly that we will not be able to fly in that particular day. They kept the money with an an e-mail saying "sorry", keeping over $340 for doing absolutely nothing. Keep your hard earn money and book directly with other hotels, NOT through Exepdia - crappy and unreliable service when traveling abroad. You'll save your hard earned money and headaches later if you have to change later on. Expedia and Moorea Spa Hotel, what a joke both!

Worst services
December 8, 2017

Expedia was a very wrong choice for booking my flight tickets.
1. Now I wait since almost 10 days for #Expedia to process my legal name change request. They closed my first case on this topic telling me that my new name was already changed on the flight reservation which was not true. Now I am being told that #CathayPacific does not allow legal name change due to marriage, which is contradictory to what is written on Cathay's webpage and with the information provided by Cathay customer team. (case *******; S-*******)
2. Last time when they processed a similar request for a different flight ticket, they re-issued the ticket by omitting the second passenger from the reservation. I wasted cca 6 hours on the line, on the day prior my flight to get the second passenger back on the ticket.

I had worse experience when I used my credits from my previous canceled flight to make a reservation. I had to book through an Expedia agent. It took several hours to be able to connect to an agent and then took another several hours to book my flights. Worse experience ever!

I bought the vacation waiver for 4 people. I read the fine print where they said they would refund the money for any reason. On the day of the trip, one person in my party got sick. We called to cancel 1 hour before the flight was supposed to take off. Expedia then informed us that we only have the credit for the flights. Then, in order to rebook the flights we would have to pay a rebooking fee first, then they will refund the rebooking. And you can only rebook through expedia. Of course, all the flights are now more expensive because you can't rebook through a package deal. So not only did I pay $44 more for the vacation waiver, I now have to pay $150 more per flight ticket to rebook as the cheapest available flight in a period of 1 year. The vacation waiver is completely useless. It's just one more way for Expedia to scam their customers for more money.

Easy to use
March 6, 2017

I like Expedia, I feel like their site is easy to use and they have good offers. I've never had any issues with Expedia so Ive never had to contact customer service, which I guess could be good or bad? It's great I've never had issues, but I also can not speak on how good customer serivice is.

Scam!
December 17, 2021

I am a gold card holder of expedia. Every time I go to use my rewards to book a flight they come up with a huge variety of reasons why ( cannot use my rewards. They have clamed their computer is glitching (while I get a notice that the flights just went up in price- has happened four times). They have claimed that the rewards are limited to a certain airline (not in any of the paper work does it say this). They raise the prices as I try book a flight because the paperwork does say that you have to have enough points to cover the entire trip price.
You are better off with a different card! You wll waste hours of your life just trying to get through to them. Why do I not just pay with my rewards on the website you might ask, well, because that option is no longer available now that I have saved up my rewards to purchase a flight!
Complete SCAM!

Awful
July 28, 2017

Mom booked a 2 bedroom condo through Expedia for a week. We arrive to a 1 bedroom condo but are paying for the 2. The hotel says there are no more 2 bedrooms and we have to talk to Expedia to get reimbursed. Expedia confirms that we were supposed to have 2 bedrooms and only offers a $100 credit towards our next booking. Um no. We paid in full to have 2 bedrooms. This is not okay.

I booked round trip tickets through Expedia. The tickets included seat selection. During the booking no seat selection was provided and no seats were assigned. I called Expedia Customer Service and was on hold for over 2 hours before my battery went dead. I called back and wait time for Customer Service was over FOUR HOURS. I called the airlines direct and was assigned seats. There is no Customer Service at Expedia. I will Never, Ever book flights through Expedia again. I will see available flights on Expedia BUT book directly through the airlines website online.

I have booked many trips on expedia before and luckily never encountered any problem so far. I booked a hotel recently through expedia but I did not like the hotel so when I tried leave a negetive feedback on expedia about the hotel, it did not let me leave the feedback saying that the system cannot accept the feedback at that time.

Crooks
April 7, 2022

The expedia website changed the date of booking and I immediately canceled and received a cancelation email. They then charged my credit card and I was held responsible. Don't use them, they are crooks.

I went to book a stay for a funeral service and selected the dates. Hit reserve which took me to another page which switched the dates. I didn't take notice because I have been dealing with a million things. Called to see about switching dates and they said no. Told me I could cancel and rebook for the correct date but it was NONREFUNDABLE. So they are robbing people!

No Good Deals
August 23, 2015

Really, you don't get much with this site. If you book lots of hotel stays then eventually you get a $25 coupon. Big deal! And for that, you lose money and get no flexibility. I used their "Coupon" and then had to cancel because of a blizzard this January and thehy allowed me to cancel but would not let me use the coupon to book a hotel two days later (after storm was over) They said I had to wait for 60 more days to use the coupon. WTF? Why not? It"s a coupon! Stupidly, I bought a four night hotel stay with them again recently thinking i was getting a deal at $170 a night and when I checked into the hotel they said the rate was $143. But I already paid with Expedia so I could not get the lower rate! So I lost basically $108, and I still need how many hotel stays to get their stupid coupon? I won't use Expedia again. I'd rather book with the hotel direct or trip advisor and be allowed to cancel and get upgraded etc.

I've been an Expedia customer for many years and have used them for numerous bookings, I always thought I was satisfied with them u til my recent foray. I was looking to book a flight from NY to Bangkok. At 5pm the flight was $776. I emailed my daughter and went to have dinner. At about 7:30pm Expedia had the flight listed at $844. I booked the hotel independently and then went to book the flight and it suddenly jumps to $891. I'm started to get agitated at this point and go to TripAdvisor, there I get the flight via Priceline for $801. I immediately jump to Expedia and low and behold the flight is now $801. I contacted service department and got a bunch of platitudes and apologies. I have read about sites tracking your purchases and that if you are interested in an item they will jack the price up. I believe that Expedia is using that tactic.

Terrible service
July 13, 2020

I booked a hotel room online in expedia for the winter 2020 (Itinerary # **************). Later, due to covid 19 uncertainty, I tried to cancel it online and only to found that the reservation is managed by expedia/Vibro and thus could not be cancelled online (What a strange logic!) and I was informed that I have to cancel it over the phone. I called the provided phone number and waited 1 hour and 30 minutes before finally connected. It is terrible!

I booked flights through Expedia and paid with American Express. When I went to select seats, none were available at the price I paid, so I had to pay an additional fee for select seats. I called AA customer service and was told that if I wanted the seats guaranteed to be available when I arrived at the airport, I would have to pay the fee or risk having seats not available. Have you seen the Jerry Seinfeld episode when he arrives at the car rental place and is told there is no car available even though he made a reservation? He told the attendant they didn't know the meaning of the word reservation. I would call this offer bait and switch by Expedia and American Airlines.

Expedia tries to get people to buy vacation packages by using stock market pricing. There are XX rooms available and the number is changing while you are trying to plan a vacation with someone. We tried for 3 weeks to get what we wanted and every day the price changed and the availability changed. We finally went to southwestvacations.com and got a deal for Captiva Island for $1900 for 6 days/nights plus airfare for 4. The rapid changing of prices and availability is a big turnoff and pain to manage.
