I've been using Expedia for years booking travel, hotel and bundled packages. I've never had any issues that weren't resolved to my satisfaction. I appreciated the ease of helping me with a credit for my flight to Hawaii last April when Covid shut everything down. I also like the great deals I sometimes get on hotels from using my points. When booking flights, I compare the cost of tickets offered by Expedia vs the airline, and sometimes the cost is better with the airline, but not always. I will continue to use Expedia in the future.
Extremely disappointed with customer service. My Mother and her friends are trying to change a flight and they are very to deal with. They are unwilling to work with them to change the flights and the customer service agents are unintelligible. It is almost impossible to understand a single word they say to us. Never ever use this company. My mother and her friends are elderly and they are clearly trying to take advantage of them.
I realize that people want to save money when booking hotels and trips, however, you had better hope you do not need to cancel any part of that trip or speak with customer service.
The gentleman I needed to speak with had a very thick accent, which made him difficult to understand, UNTIL he put the phone on the counter to pretend to call the hotel about my cancelation. THAT was when he spoke perfect English telling someone else in the office that he liked to 'pretend' to help people out while on the phone. I am completely disgusted by the whole situation and will NEVER book with them again. I don't care if the trip is free.
Do not ever deal with them. If I could have given no stars, I would have.
Booked a tour via Expedia. Received expedia itinerary number but no confirmatory e-mail. Contacted Expedia Customer Service and told itinerary number was no good. Called trout co and told we had no reservation. But they did, rapidly and efficiently, charge my credit card. Disputed the charge but expedia said there was no problem and the fee was non-refundable. Seems once expedia gets you money they are through and feel no obligation to deliver the service you paid for.
Expedia makes it near impossible to refund/ credit your account from a flight cancellation. I will never use them again. Book directly or with another site. They make you call and leave you on hold for HOURS. I will NEVER use them again and go out of my way to explain my frustrations with this company. NEVER AGAIN!
Yikes! I sent two questions about my reservation and only one was answered and when I followed up on the second one I received a remarkably condescending response. Holy smokes! I was only asking for information regarding my reservation, not even attempting to make any changes or anything. The snarky response was completely uncalled for. I have used Expedia for 15 years and this is the first time Ive had any communication with customer service. I will never book through Expedia or any affiliates again. There is something seriously wrong with the customer service reps.
We rented a room for one night in Charlevoix Michigan thru Expedia for 9/2/23, when we got there I asked the attendant if these rooms are this high all year long! And he asked how much I was charged, I told him $420. He said what these room are $230 a night, He said do not tell me you went through Expedia, because I can not do anything about it! I would never use them again! TERRIBLE! Itinerary # **************
I had booked a hotel and airfare package and they would NOT refund the hotel under any circumstances, they said it was non refundable, but the website says "no problem" if you cancel within 24 hours no issues with refunds. It was 3 months ahead of the time we booked, so they could not refund the hotel? I can see if it was last minute but they had plenty of time to re book the room. I bought the Travel Ins and a lot of good that did me! I was not able to get the time off of work and produced all the documentation they wanted. They said they would only refund me if there was a death or I was fired from my job. So I will NEVER book with them again. I have booked with other agencies and never had a problem. I have talked to friends who have told me they wouldn't even allow a hotel change with the trip they purchased, Very disappointed..
I booked a flight/hotel/car and added insurance through Expedia. My flight was canceled and I could not get another until the following day. I tried to change my return flight for an extra day and was told the airline does not refund economy flights or allow for changes (why pay for insurance). I had to call the hotel and car rental to get refunded for 1 day each. I am very disappointed with Expedia and will no longer do business with them. I will do all my booking directly.
My sister booked one room at a Hampton Inn through Expedia. Expedia booked two rooms, charged her credit card and then would not refund what she was charged. She was given a total run around by both Expedia and Hampton Inn. Do not trust this company!
Expedia failed to inform us of a flight issue. We arrived at the airport 3 hours early from the original flight time. Expedia emailed us the change an hour after the flight left! We spent hours on the phone trying to reach customer service to assist us. It was an awful experience.
Beware of Expedia!
Booking went smoothly...then the airline (Spirit) couldn't find the trip because Expedia software truncated my name and noting matched at Spirit. I have spent several hours with Expedia and Spirit trying to get a simple name correction (which they both have and communicate with me using my actual name). Expedia can do nothing (point finger at airline when error is clearly generated by them). The best Spirit can do is tell me to sit and wait for 2.5 hours for a chat to begin. I cannot correct, cancel or change anything without living through this nightmare of NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Advise all to avoid both of these companies completely.
Generally, I've had good experience booking flights through Expedia. Just do the comparison shopping to make sure you're getting the best deal. The bookings I've done through Expedia have gone smoothly.
I recently booked a hotel through Expedia. I later found the same room cheaper on the hotel website. I asked the hotel to match it but they said they couldn't because of third party booking rules, but they said that their own website is always cheaper then Expedia. Expedia, who claim a low price guarantee, refused to issue a refund or credit, siting fine print. I will never use them again and urge others to beware!
Booked hotel - arrived 2pm New Years Eve Pattaya, abusive Hotel refused to accept my gf Thai official Id card so refused us entry. Booked and paid hotel no 2 - arrived to closed Hotel. On hold Expedia over hour - they confirmed they had booked us into another hotel further inland and said they had phoned to check! - arrived at Hotel no 3 after a quite a trek to find no staff - saw a number on reception so called it - it was manager to say he had never even spoke to Expedia and had no Rooms - called Expedia in uk at own expense many times but after midnight realised that they had abandoned me, my partner and 2 kids to see in the new year homeless looking at rats and prostitutes trading - appalling, dreadful could of been killed for the luggage and camera equipment! They dont care about people at all
I booked a flight through Expedia from PHX to ORD departing at 12:25 pm arriving around 5 pm on Frontier. After providing payment, I received the confirmation from Expedia showing my confirmed flight. Within 5 min. I received a confirmation from Frontier showing the time was 11:25 pm arriving the next day at 5:00 am. I tried several times to contact Expedia, at one point I was on hold for 3 hours and finally gave up. I finally reached Expedia the following morning, they advised me it was Frontier's error. Frontier advised me it was Expedia's error. Based on Expedia's policy with Frontier, they cannot issue credit. Frontier states " since it was an Expedia error", they cannot provide credit. Really...……. How can this happen? Who is responsible? Just remember, read all reviews not just the good ones. And GOOD LUCK trying to reach Expedia by phone and don't ever think you will be able to speak with a Supervisor or Manager with out getting disconnected 2 times.
Was going to Hawaii first class for a 25th Aniversary, had to cancel since Hawaii is shut down. No one is available to talk to me live.
I tried the chat line two times, and each time I get their response. " I can't help you with this yet, so let's get someone who can. "
So far, no-one has ever got back to me. I am within the 72 hr time frame that my flight would have left, so I tried the phone. The phone disconnected me since I now do not have a departure time. Terrible way to handle your customer service issues. You need to refund everyone's money and take the hit like the rest of the Country. Once I get my
$3800 + back, I am done with Expedia!
Their "trip insurance" is a joke. I purchased a round-trip ticket for $389 and the insurance in case I needed to make any changes to the trip. The insurance was $28. Not only would I have to pay for the change up front and file a claim through their insurance, the cost of the change would be $359! When I told them that price was ridiculous and asked for a supervisor, they hung up on me. When I contacted them back, I was told I would have to make the change through the airline, U.S. Airways, who quoted me $759 to make the change. Really? When I became upset and, yes, sarcastic, I was hung up on.
Expedia placed an additional charge of $23.37 for booking a hotel. This was not disclosed. I found the charge on a review of my credit card statement. Beware of Expedia. They will sneak extra charges on your credit card without telling you. Use another service to book your trips. As a business traveler I need a service I can trust without having to 2nd check all the charges.
I did not sleep for 2 nights,1st night the couple above us was making loud noises all night. We had to call the front desk. 2nd night the couple had their music on all night. The only reason why we stayed there it was closed to the Trolley and it looked cleaned. If you want a good night sleep, don't stay here. The Girl at the front desk had great customer service.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.8 stars from 1,604 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 15th among Travel Search Engine sites.
