The fact that there is always some one picking up the phone is good enough to shop from them. One time flight was canceled and before I made it to the airline customer service line Expedia travel agent fixed me on the next flight 1 hour later.
Very convenient website to use.
We for the first time used Expedia for our vacation to VA. I was very hesitant with the deal I found and was worried if we will have any bad experience with flights. None so ever. Everything went smooth. I will be checking deals on Expedia whenever looking for air fare
On't book cruises with Expedia. They make offers for onboard credit just like the cruise companies do but, unlike the other companies they hide forms in the small print that you have to complete so, that you don't get your credit. If I would have booked my cruise directly with the cruise company I would have received the credit. Instead Expedia pocketed my money. The topic of conversation on the shuttle back was how none of us got our onboard credit from Expedia. In one van there was 3 couples who were swindled, can you imagine how many people Expedia takes advantage of in a day? Dirty company! Beware!
My family went to check in to our hotel to find out the water park attached to our hotel was permanently closed the day prior to our stay. Expedia told us we could cancel and get refunded only if hotel cleared the refund. Expedia sent an email asking for the staff members name and title, which I immediately emailed back to Expedia. Expedia then decided not to call the hotel for 4 weeks to verify the refund and staff member. Then they tell me the hotel can not be reached, no refund. Hotel was demolished 3 weeks ago. Expedia says nothing they can do.
Super awesome!
Way to do business!
Do be aware. Not all EXPEDIA employees have accurate information including the availability of a hotel room and the deposit for a room (the one said you needed $100 cash!). In addition, they charge over 50% more in additional fees compared to working directly with a hotel. I enourage finding hotels on this site but call the hotel directly and avoid Expedia. You will get a better deal. A Best Western on location would have cost $176 with approx. $17 in fees; Expedia $176 plus $37 in fees, a $20 fee for inaccuarate information!
I have been calling trying to redeem an airline credit since May. I was told by a Expedia agent I could use it when I was ready. I called before the credit was to expire and explained I was not ready to use the credit due to Covid cases still being high. Now that I'm trying to redeem the credit the past 3 Expedia agents have not been able to help me. One of them told me a flight specialist will contact me regarding my case. It's been almost 2 months now and I have not received a call or email. I am now looking to book through other agencies like Orbitz or Priceline because this experience has made me not want to purchase through Expedia ever again.
Horrible service. Tried changing drop off location for car rental. 12 hours of vacation ruined and no results. Flight delays ruined the next 12 hours. Lines for car rental 8 hours more vacation ruined. Lost 2 days of hotel stays. The only thing Expedia did was argue that they couldn't change anything as I had the rental services on the other line explaining Expedia was the ONLY one that could change them. Please don't waste your vacation and just book everything yourself. This cost me an additional $2,500.
I booked a roundtrip ticket from Dallas to Copenhagen which required connecting flights each way. On the way home I connected from Copenhagen to Newark, NJ. My flight with United which was taking me from Newark to Dallas, was delayed a bunch of times and then eventually cancelled. I was not rebooked or even offered to be by United or Expedia. I had to book with another airline direct to get home. Three months later and I still have not received any type of refund for the cancelled flight. I have called and emailed expedia multiple times and they are not helpful at all. In this time of many flight cancellations across all airlines, I highly recommend staying away from Expedia or any of these other bundle sites and booking directly with the airlines. I fly regularly, about every other week and this is the first time I have had a cancellation where I am unable to get a refund. Completely unacceptable!
This is not a travel app, it's an advertising platform. It regularly loses bookings, so please DO NOT RELY ON IT to keep accurate details of your bookings. It won't. The 14 digit booking reference means nothing, and once it loses a booking ref, it can't be recovered through the app. Links to airlines are usually broken links. It's no cheaper than GoogleMaps. Basically the app is rubbish.
We arrived in Paris and prepaid for the Paris shuttle to pick us up. We called multiple times, which sent us to a recording and emailed them with no response. We took a cab to our hotel and 4hrs later received an email asking if we were still at the airport! I emailed Expedia and sent the email I got from the shuttle co, requested a refund. They approved a partial refund. How disappointing! I have used this company for years traveling domestic and this was my first international trip. I will never book through them again. They can not take care of their loyal customers.
I had a New York trip planned to go to a bunch of shows on broadway with my daughter. Broadway is closed, all the companies I bought tickets for shows to refunded my money. I bought plane and hotel through expedia and I can't even get them on the phone, all I get online is "Non-refundable". So they sold me a trip that can't be taken and won't do anything about it.
Cancelled a flight due to illness. Took over an HOUR to rebook flight. Indian service rep could not understand half of what I said. He tried hard, but was not ready to be handling.
One of the few times I have booked business travel outside the airline direct and WILL NOT do it again.
Expedia, get it together!
I unfortunately scheduled three trips through Expedia during COVID and now have Expedia credit for them. They do not let you access the credit online, so you have to book over the phone. As if this were not annoying enough, they have managed to completely fail to book my trip and can provide me with zero explanation. My credit is now "lost" and they cannot get it back to me. So, I cannot travel to the wedding tomorrow that I booked a flight for AND all of the money I wasted with Expedia appears to be lost. This is the worst customer service department I have ever had to deal with, and they make you wait on hold for hours. Please save yourself and book elsewhere.
Not knowing Expedia booked our hotel, over charged us by $275.00, plus a $15.00 service fee. Booking the hotel with this Jordan guy, he gave me the total of 1,368.00 and the hotel deposit of $250, that was $275.00, and I would get that back when checking out. We arrived at the hotel and charged another $250.00 deposit, which was explained at the front desk of the hotel, contacted the discrepancy number, and informed by this Edgu agent, the $446.18 was the taxes, the agent was very rude and kept on saying they don't have anything to do with the hotel fees, I tried explaining what I was informed, doesn't make any sense taxes would be that high, he didn't want to hear anything, kept on dismissing the conversation, until I gave up and ended the call. My fault for not checking that I was booking directly with the hotel. Expedia you scammed me and I hope it was worth it.
I decided to use Expedia to book a hotel for one night. They charged me right away. Weeks later, my plans changed and I needed to cancel. I got a hold of Expedia and they said the room was cancelled. I asked how soon to get my refund. They said it is nonrefundable! So they can keep my money and cancel the room. I called the hotel, and was told that they were never paid and wouldn't be until I showed up. Normally, this is how hotels work. But with Expedia, you pay when you reserve and it is non cancellable. They will keep your money. The little bit you "save" by going through them is not worth it in case you need to make a change. The hotel clerk told me he has heard this story before. If I can persuade jut 10 or 20 people to stay away from them, I have done my job.
Expedia is a joke of a company! My fiance and I booked a trip to Aruba for our honeymoon but was never informed that the country currently is infected with Zika virus. Since we are going to be trying to get pregnant on our honeymoon, we are no longer able to go. We ended up chatting with a "manager" who explained that all I needed to do was get a doctors note and they would be able to refund me in FULL instead of charging us $200 per person for cancelling our flights. When we sent in our doctors note, someone else responded to our email stating that we needed to contact the airline about a refund, not Expedia. We explained the whole situation and they stated that the manager "really messed up". We were lied to and I am completely disgusted with this company. I don't understand how they stay in business. Terrible & dishonest customer service.
I used Expedia for the first time in November. It was so easy and the offers they had for accommodation and flights was really cheap. We flew to Vanuatu for a 5 days package and everything went perfectly.
All I like their app I used to keep all my trip details.
Great site!
Do not call Expedia when booking reservations! They are running a scam where they claim to offer you a hotel room along with your flight, or they are checking your reservation with the airline but while on hold, they are actually running your credit card numerous times in order to get money. BEWARE!
Owners & Renters: Check out what Expedia is doing since their acquisition of VRBO, Homeaway and Vacation Rentals. People are going crazy-angry! Search for VRBO- Complaints and see for yourselves. Renters have to pay a hidden cost to Expedia, but they think it's being paid to the owner of the property. Owners look like they're cheating their potential renter by Expedia adding the fee and not telling renters it is a booking fee made by them. For example, if you charge a new guest $2000, Expedia will add on anywhere from 3-10% to the fee and not tell the renter it is for them. Doesn't this violate contract agreements!? In my experience, it certainly does. Check it out for yourselves. Don't be fooled.
I have had a confirmed itinerary for over 6 months, now Expedia is threatening to cancel it 1 month before I leave because the said my flight was cancelled and they can't find another... PLENTY of upgraded seats available but they would rather watch me loose my whole vacation (and all the deposits) than do the right thing and fix this.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
