I ordered a desk on August 10. I understand with COVID and the USPS stuff, there was likely to be a delay. Then August 20, I was informed that my shipment would be "pushed back slightly to the middle to the end of September." At that point I was able to just find something local, so on August 21, I asked to cancel my order. I was then informed that they would "try" but it might not happen. I then conveniently get an email on Aug 25 that my order has been shipped. That means that my refund will be short about $60 as the return is deducted from my purchase price, even though I requested cancellation up to 3 weeks from when I was told I would receive it. Do not buy from them. As others have said, they never answer the phone and their staff is incompetent.

I bought three chairs on May 8th and didn't ship them until May 12th. I sent them a message to ask when they would ship the goods. It has my information on it. They don't query, they just say, "I don't understand what I'm talking about." normally, they can see the order by email. I'm really angry. Then they told me that the goods could only be ship out on May 28th. However, there is no email or reminder to inform the customer that the goods will be ship out on May 28th. The service attitude is very bad. When i ask refund and cancel order, they did not answer ~~~~
They are so unprofessional and bad at service, I don't know where good reviews come from. A lot of people make fake comments. We need good service to buy things. I've never seen such bad service in America

Do not order from English Elm. I ordered 4 items, a dresser, bed, and two nightstands in July. It is not late September and I have only received one nighstand. They sent me an open, damaged, and incomplete dresser. Supposedly a replacement has been sent. The claim to have shipped and delivered 2 nighstands, though only 1 was delivered. I have gone back and forth with them multiple times, they do not provide answers to my questions. Refuse to refund me. I am so frustrated with them, I have no other options but to dispute the charge with my bank. I paid over a thousand dollars worth of furniture and in almost 3-4 months I have only received 1 nighstand. This is a robbery. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

Saw so many mixed reviews about this place online. Good reviews on google and other places, and really bad stories here. The lady answered all my questions before ordering so that was reassuring. I only purchased because Wayfair was out of stock on it. Ordering was easy and they were actually pretty good about updating me on the order itself. It arrived a little late but with covid it's about right. I was about to not order my nightstands because of the reviews here but I think it's a lot of disgruntled customers with horror stories (probably legitimate ones). In my limited experience, the order and communication was fine. Those are my two cents.

I ordered chairs from this company and they were out of stock. Doreen informer me that she would keep me posted as to the status of these chairs. I never heard from her so I emailed to cancel The order, only to learn that she fulfilled the order without informing me as promised.

Literally putchase furniture from ANYWHERE else before here. Scam artists! Just wait until you receive your defective, cheap, and shoddy goods. Then when you attempt to contact the company or return the fun begins! Don't believe go on and find out for yourselves. Do yourself a favor and go Amazon if you must shop for furniture online. Let this review be your red flag... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

I should have listened to other reviewers. However, I did not and I learned my lesson. I placed the order when the item was shown online as in stock. Then I was notified it was backordered. After over a month, it was delivered. But it was the wrong one. I emailed them to ask to return the item, and it has been another few weeks since then but they still don't want to send me the return label. No customer service number you may call, all emails and no timely response at all. I almost made sending them emails a part time job now.

I ordered a coffee table that I had looked for everywhere and they took my money and then 6 hours later told me the item wouldn't be in stock for another 6 months... I told them to cancel my order, and that if they don't have something in stock, why take someone's money and expect them to wait 6 months for their purchase?! TERRIBLE business move. This was my first and last experience purchasing through English elm.

Don't use this company!

They lure you in with the promise of free shipping. However, if you have to return an item you have to pay for it. I ordered two stools for a total of $365. The return shipping was $322. The stools were defective and they demanded that I reassemble and then disassemble them a second time to take a photo or video of the defect, when they could easily do it themselves. I am 71 years old and now they are threatening to ruin my credit over it. Use amazon! There is never a problem with return shipping! It is always paid for! It is unbelievable that they think it is okay to threaten a senior citizen!

I ordered a coffee table and unfortunately the description of the table color was incorrect on the website. The customer service representative acknowledged that the retailer incorrectly labeled the color of the coffee table on the website page. And yet, the English Elm refused to pay for shipping on the return for the desk (total of $130.00 out of my pocket). Do not buy from this retailer. The product descriptions and images are inaccurate and the retailer takes no responsibility for their mistakes.

This is a scam!

I ordered chairs and was never given my tracking information. I reached out to the company and they never responded to my emails. I really wish I read these reviews online before purchasing. I am so disappointed.

I wish i could give them a 0 star rating. They are liars and a bunch of cheats! They first tell you the item is back ordered, then sneak up and process the order and then not allow you to cancel the order. It then becomes customer's headache to return the heavy furniture!

The website allowed me to place an order for a backordered item. The item was backordered for months yet still showing in stock. My cc was placed a pending charge of over 900$. I decided I did not want to wait for the rug and was told I'd have to wait until they canceled their order withe the manufacturer. What?! So they have a pending charge on my account making me wait until they cancel their order for the backordered product. Customer service was of zero help. Beware

I didn't even know about English Elm and found you online. I love the selection of products and the speedy customer service! I called Customer Service to ensure the item I was interested in was in stock. They were extremely nice and helpful. My item was delivered quickly and in perfect shape!

English Elm company is in Asia! But the no tax is worth the time! And the English is exceptional! Can't wait to get my Commix white modular sectional, I'll stay tuned! On back order, but my construction isn't finished yet anyway.

We spent about a month getting our order right and finally paid the bill mid-January. They predicted the furniture would be delivered in March. When we had no delivery date mid-March, they said the furniture was backordered to July (which is a lie because the furniture was supposed to be made from scratch). It is now May 10th and we just found out this week that English Elm is no longer carrying the company that makes the furniture we bought. I agree with their reasons for no longer using the vendor, but 4 months of holding onto our money just to say that makes this sound like A SCAM.

Directly from the "customer service" department with no actual name of anyone I'm in contact with after I bought a couch on sale and they let me know it was out of stock until 7 months later from the vendor but IT WAS STILL LISTED ONLINE (and is!) and on other websites:
"Unfortunately, we do not have availability on our website. We do not have the manpower to update availability for over 300,000 skus on our website. Since we ship directly from the manufacturer and stock is constantly changing. We have no way of mimicking their real time inventory unfortunately."

What a nightmare, the couch was $1,000 and they can't even update their website (which should be automatic feed update by the way with API). They're terrible and can't believe they're a legitimate business. I better see my refund in my bank.

I ordered a comforter set and haven't heard from them since! They never answer the phone or return emails. Oh, and don't call the stores, they are absolutely no help at all! This store should be closed! I'm going to have my credit card reverse the charge. DON'T ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM!

Worst company ever!

I received a sideboard from this company and the color was not even close to the photo or description. On top of that, one of the doors wasn't all the way painted. When I contacted them they said that I couldn't return it and blamed the coloring on lighting of when they took the photo. I know lighting differences and this was not a lighting issue - more like a bad paint job. When I mentioned the "defective" door where there is missing paint they said that it wasn't considered a defect! Are you kidding me? Worst company ever and doesn't deserve any business. They are just out to scam people.

I have had a great service experience with English Elm. I wanted to buy a chair that was out of stock everywhere. After trying to buy it several places, I landed on English Elm. I tried to purchase through them but they emailed me immediately to let me know they were also out of stock. However, they then offered me several alternatives that were close to look and style from what I originally wanted. They were the only company to do this. They also offered me a discount since my original order was not available. Shipping and delivery went smoothly. However, after I received the chairs, I noticed that one was damaged. It was damaged in a way that was hard to see and not due to shipping or delivery. I contacted English Elm and they immediately sent me a new chair. I am a very satisified customer.
