I ordered a chair on Saturday and emailed the company to cancel on the next day. Not only did I get an reply on a Sunday, my card was immediately refunded. Based on reviews, I was expecting a disastrous experience and that is not how things turned out. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe they are making improvements. I will never know but I do owe them a decent review for handling my cancellation in a quick manner.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy from this company. After waiting four months to receive the product, it comes with the most important part missing, which means it still cannot be used. Customer service was absolutely horrible, that is, even if they acknowledged your e-mail, which, by the way, is the ONLY way to contact them. They don't give out their phone number. Umm, wonder why that is? After about a month, we finally received our missing piece. The product, at best, is shabby quality.
I wish i could give them a 0 star rating. They are liars and a bunch of cheats! They first tell you the item is back ordered, then sneak up and process the order and then not allow you to cancel the order. It then becomes customer's headache to return the heavy furniture!
I ordered with English Elm today. I am moving next week and needed a new headboard. I loved the look of English Elm's products and website so I decided to order, EVEN THOUGH I got not estimated arrival date when I placed my order. A few hours later I received an email that the headboard I ordered will not be available until FEBURARY of 2022. I suggest English Elm should update their website and let customers know if the product they want is even in stock! Will NOT be ordering from them again.
Be aware before you order from English Elm that you will not be refunded or treated well should you need to return a product. And it's VERY expensive to ship to California. I ordered a file cabinet that was delivered with right/left side panels that were the same so it was impossible to assemble it. It cost $107 to ship back to California and I'm being treated very poorly as I inquire if I'll be reimbursed. Unprofessional, accusatory responses to my email inquiries and no process to elevate concerns. I'm not even sure if I'll receive credit for my return, let alone the shipping I incurred to return it. BUYER BEWARE
I received a sideboard from this company and the color was not even close to the photo or description. On top of that, one of the doors wasn't all the way painted. When I contacted them they said that I couldn't return it and blamed the coloring on lighting of when they took the photo. I know lighting differences and this was not a lighting issue - more like a bad paint job. When I mentioned the "defective" door where there is missing paint they said that it wasn't considered a defect! Are you kidding me? Worst company ever and doesn't deserve any business. They are just out to scam people.

English Elm reneged on timely delivery of my coffee table after payment in full from me.
The website does not offer full disclosure of policies, delivery dates, etc. The EE staff provided me with a misleading/incorrect date of deliviery.
That is, after paying in FULL over $1000, when I sent the company an email asking when my table would arrive, EE said "August".
The next think I knew, the item was "out of stock" and I had to decide if they could hold my funds until "possibly some time in November."
In my opinion, English Elm offers products online that are not available.
In my opinion, English Elm expects to customers to pay $$ for the "opportunity to get delivery" 4 months post first stated date, while they take on other customers who pay for the same item.
I would hope that others are more wary than I was of their procedures.

They ROUTINELY sell you things they don't have in stock. I can't tell you anything about the quality of their items because not once have I received my order. Customer service is meh at best.
Great customer service they responded to my emails quick the item came damage they shipped the replacement right away and I received it in a week. My item was over 440 lb and the company was willing to ship my new table right away.
I had a very good experience with English Elm. I purchased two counter stools and a counter height table by Safavieh and everything was fine. Sure, delivery was not like Amazon Prime, I did have to wait four days but the items were rather large and it was expected. I came to the SiteJabber and saw the poor ratings and ran right away, but they offered a discount and so I gave it a chance thinking I could get a refund if things went south. Not only did things not go south the experience was BETTER than most other places I've shopped.
I received my order in excellent condition and I'm enjoying the lamps I purchased. They are darling and go well in our master bedroom. Thanks so much English Elm!
I ordered a patio set (love seat, 2 chairs and a coffee table). Same set was out of stock at the big box stores. It was delivered in the estimated time frame but had a manufacturer defect. I was able to fix it by drilling a new hole and continyed assembling. It was fine but I emailed the English Elm team and they sent me 2 new chairs. That were delivered within 48 hours of my email. Now I have 4 chairs which is cool. Would order from them again. Super responsive and a quick and reasonable solution to my issue.
I ordered furniture for 6211 never received an order number I tried contacting them and noticed there was no phone number. I immediately looked them up and saw about 20 dissatisfied customers I called my bank and charges were reversed. They then started calling everyday telling me it was too late to cancel the order they will give me 20% discount if I clear it with my bank. I told them I was no longer interested in doing business with them. I found the exact same furniture and purchase it from a company I thoroughly checked out this time a week after my money was returned. Three weeks later my bank took the 6211 back out of my account stating English Elm said they delivered it. I told the bank that was not true. Where is my signature that it was delivered? Where is a picture showing it was delivered? Why would I order the exact furniture from a company a week later that cost 1200 more? I have a camera on my home what day did they delivered it? This company is a Big SCAM! I'm out of over 6211. I am so upset! Who would order the same furniture 2 times in a week and pay more for it! I need the tv reporter to call me. 0 rating I hate they make you choose a star before submitting 0000
I'm extremely disappointed as I placed an order for an expensive piece of furniture and 24 hours later they claim it's back ordered and I "have a spot in line". I want my order cancelled and my money back so I can order from a reputable company. I have received NO response via email and the phone number is always busy.

Ordered from the website and got confirmation email saying to expect shipping/tracking info to be emailed... heard nothing from these guys and started to get a bad feeling. Thought you know what I'm going to cancel so checked the website and it clearly states cancelation with full refund possible up until shipping, hadn't received any notification regarding shipping so emailed them telling them I wish to cancel and get a full refund as per their website saying cancellation must be done in form of an email(No Phone calls). So I thought that's that and I'll carry on with my life!
This is where these guys show what complete frauds they are... got an email the following morning informing me that sorry you can't cancel as order has already shipped! The order had NOT shipped as they sent a tracking number in that email and the only thing they had done is quickly sent info of shipment to FedEx. I'd love to carry on but I wouldn't want to bore my fellow consumer, the bottom line is these guys lie and cheat to take your hard earned money. Mr Andrew N in their customer service department has serious small man syndrome.
Luckily i kept documentation of all their fraudulent behavior and my credit card company agreed with me that they are fraud.
So if you've seen something you like on their site... keep looking and save yourself a headache
I purchased something from this site back in February only to be told it was no longer being sold and asked if I wanted a refund. I of course said yes but it was days after my credit card had been charged and the refund took forever... I should have known better because a few months later I ordered another item from the item and again was told it was out of stock. I told them to cancel it again and then it showed up in the mail a few days later... I had already purchased the EXACT same item from another site and now I can't get a hold of anyone at customer service to return it...
I ordered a coffee table and unfortunately the description of the table color was incorrect on the website. The customer service representative acknowledged that the retailer incorrectly labeled the color of the coffee table on the website page. And yet, the English Elm refused to pay for shipping on the return for the desk (total of $130.00 out of my pocket). Do not buy from this retailer. The product descriptions and images are inaccurate and the retailer takes no responsibility for their mistakes.
I ordered $1000+ worth of chairs. They sent the completely wrong chairs from what was ordered and customer service is impossible to contact. They dont even return calls.
They refuse to respond to emails. The phone system is set up so that you can never talk to a person. They ask you to leave a message but they never return your call. They sent me an email indicating that my furniture was delivered. It has not been delivered. They have charged my card however. I have no tracking information. I don't even know where to go with this.
Customer service is non-existent. Order at your peril, they won't tell you they don't even have an item until you've given them payment. SMH.
