Jut got phone-call from my bank about some transactions. One of which 'Digital River Ireland' for some AV software from an hour ago! I have not made this purchase, unsure who and how they got my details but, just to add my voice to this growing number of scams using Digital River and bump the thread back up.
Thought I was buying a monito direct from Lenovo. That was 5 weeks ago and nothing received. Looks as if it was lost in transit but they just want to carry out investigations. They requested I sign an affidavit which I did. But weeks later still nothing. The customer services are the most inept and incompetent shower I have ever had dealings with. As with others just shunted from one useless operator to another useless supervisor. Prices look good but not worth the hassle. Wish I had read these reviews before purchasing, but then I thought I was buying from Lenovo.
I recently ordered a top spec Lenovo laptop from Digital River UK to replace an old machine on its last legs. At the point of ordering Lenovo quoted about 2 weeks for delivery. There were however no less than 4 changes to delivery estimate - totaling about 5 weeks. I cancelled the order, but they had already shipped a docking station (ordered at the same time). I am still awaiting a returns number for the docking station - which is no longer required. I was able to order a comparable machine for less money from Dell and the order was processed and delivered in 3 working days, whereas I am still waiting for a reply to my emails about the docking station from Digital River. Please save yourself the stress and aggravation and shop elsewhere.
I ordered a lenovo laptop from the digital river website. As I use numbers a lot, a numeric keypad was essential, and the one I ordered was listed as having one. It didn't. It arrived, the Product Code was as ordered, but it had no number pad. I then tried to contact Customer Services with a view to a replacement, with a number pad. I might as well have been talking in Swahili (or perhaps they were) as all they kept on saying was that I had been sent the correct machine, the one I had ordered, and the specification was correct, there was no number pad. I then tried emailing with the same issue, but they too insisted that I had the correct machine and that according to the specification it had no number pad. They suggested I return it and order again, but if their website gives incorrect details I don't want to risk it again. I arranged for its return. I am informed that I may have to wait 6 days for DHL to contact me about it. In the meantime they have taken my money and will not return it until they get the machine back.
Apparently Sennheiser is allowing these people to run their online store. Big mistake. Sennheiser is a reputable company. These people have not got their act together. Ordered an item and tried to cancel three hours later. No go. "Order is being processed and you will receive a shipping notice soon if you haven't received already." Five days later, no shipping notice and when I ask for status they give me the same reply. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE.
I thought I was buying Acrobat from Adobe and somehow they sent me on to Digital River without me realizing it until I received a past due notice. First I thought it was a scam but Adobe confirmed them as a reseller. Digital River would only take a check. Since paying I have received 3 past due notices (never received the first invoice). The check was processed. The invoice includes Adobe's number for payment questions on Digital River letterhead. When you call the Adobe number, which is a call center in India, the operator disavows any knowledge of order and refers you back to a Digital River number, who gives you the runaround and sends you back to Adobe. I even have a customer order #, but apparently neither company can look up order information by that number, our name, or phone number. I've tried multiple times hoping to get more knowledgeable operators with no luck. The software is fine, but don't buy anything from them, ever.
They have just helped themselves to £49.99 from my personal bank account. I have had to google this transaction and found that it is linked to avast antivirus which I have installed but am using the free version and have never upgraded to the premium version. They have stole my money there is no other way of saying it.
I have charges on my credit card from DR, digital river, never used the company and the charges are fraudulent. I am changing all passwords and card numbers. If this happened to you also you better change all your info!
Lenovo france sell through digital river. Reluctant at first, I ended up buying my lenovo laptop through digital river. What to say?
1) they are useless: they levy shipping cost in between lenovo and UPS, what for?
2) order monitoring is non-existant: it went from "being processed" to "completed" in three weeks. It's only since my shipment has been registered with UPS that I have more details. Meanwhile, I've had 1150EUR up in the air, zero info
3) their staff is stone: three full days after my order someone really weird from digital river phoned me to collect my address details... I already entered it online! The tone of his voice, and the wording of his questions did sound like the guy was stone.
4) they lie: they claimed a 1-2 weeks delivery... I'm entering week 4 and still waiting.
If you can avoid Digital River, do avoid them, they are not serious.
This absolutely dispicable company charged me 650 EUR twice for the same laptop. Then their customer support staff became incredibly aggressive, I had one threaten to take another 650 from my card if I didnt stop calling! Dont buy from lenovo or you will suffer at the hands of digital river
I ordered a battery for my laptop over a year ago. It turned out to be the wrong one (happy to share the blame for that I could have checked more). They agreed I could return it, each time I try and return it I get a mail asking me why I'm returning it. This has been going around and around for over a year. The item is still unused and in its original packaging. Ready to return. This is going to cost me £100 for which I'll get nothing.
Purchased a one year subscription of Avast through DigitalRiver Ireland. I was bombarded with renew ads towards the end of the subscription which I did not want to renew. I eventually uninstalled the software. Only to realise they debited my (PayPal) bank acc with $40. And the 2nd year is four times the price of the original purchase/1st year. Seems there is an "automatic" auto-renew. The fact that so many people are complaining about this business shows they are being. Well UNETHICAL at best, the proverbial fine print hidden away somewhere. Man! So frustrating they get away with this... Going to re-post this wherever I can.
Software didn't work - no response to requests for help.
Unable to cancel payment, no response from Digital River website. I thought I was a careful shopper but I was caught out by scam reviews. Now I face a problem cancelling the renewal next year. I will NEVER trust DR or a German software re-seller again.
I didn't manage to do business with them, but their sales team has been pompous and condescending. If that is a SALES team, whose job is to promote their product, and has all the motivation to please the customer, I can't imagine how their support team would be. Not impressed at all.
Strange enough Digital River sells NVIDIA official products in The Netherlands. I bought a card and paid for it. Some time later I received a defective card.
Despite many emails and phonically they refuse to replace or refund the card.
Have contacted my bank and the police to file a fraud rapport against them.
I chatted with a customer service rep online and he told me to call customer at a particular phone number for help. The rep answered as Kaspersky and did absolutely nothning but tell me to call technical support. I asked for a supervisor and only then did I find out it was not Kaspersky but Digital River. They made no attempt to help me or go beyond insulting me and telling to go away. I will not support such an organization nor Kaspersky if they stand in a circle and point to the next person to help you but never do anything. What a joke.
User ROBERT M. Harassing me in a clear attempt to get me to remove a negative post I made 2 years ago. He is bring up political issues causing conversation on other topics.
What I wrote is accurate and I will not remove my post.
Canceled my wife's order of Nvidia cards because she used my credit card to make a limited quantity per customer purchase. I explained being a stay at home mom she used my card to make the purchase because she does't have income, which triggered it as being over the quantity. They told me they apologize for my circumstance...(I am assuming having a wife who stays at home with our child is an apologetic circumstance and she does't deserve to have anything that may be sold through digital river). After an hour on hold finally talked to a supervisor who told me he didn't understand my wife because she wasn't speaking English, I explained she was from Central America and had an accent if he would not talk over her he could hear her. He made a sound (mocking what she was saying) and said that's not in the English language. Not only did they discriminate my wife for being a stay at home mother, tell me they apologize that we have this circumstance (having a son?) and mock her English, then they would not remake the order because the item at that point was sold out on Nvidia website, all while explaining to me it wasn't them, the system automatically canceled the order. Horrible racist bigoted people.
A team member purchased a license thru Digitalriver.com for the Avast Business version. The license key was bogus and would not work. The team member had to cancel his Visa card and get a charge-back to remain safe. No way we wanted Digitalriver.com to have the CC #...
I thought I was at the Sibelius/Avid website when I ordered the advanced version of this software under a "perpetual license." Perpetual license was presented as a one-time purchase, as opposed to a yearly subscription option that supposedly included updates and support. I did not want the recurring charges, so I paid a hefty price for the first option. When the receipt for the order was emailed to me, it was from "Digital River" and not Sibelius or Avid corp. A year later, my Paypal account was charged $104, which unbeknownst to me was set up as a recurring annual "subscription" fee by Digital River. This is not what I ordered, and Digital River has been unwilling to make the correction or refund this fee (for which I received nothing). All I could do was block them from my Paypal account, but I'm still out over a hundred bucks. Do not do business with Avid Corp (Sibelius, Pro-Tools, et al) or Digital River. They are scammers of the highest order. Additionally, the new version of the software is inferior to the older version I have used for years. I only replaced it because I had to buy a new computer, and the old version wouldn't work on it. Lots of annoying glitches and bugs that Sibelius could not fix, and the software is far less intuitive to learn than it used to be. They just shrugged and blamed it on the new Mac.
Have been defrauded. I contacted Barclays Fraud Team they put me on to Actionfraud.police.uk. They are scammers and attempt repetative payments against your bank account. I have never contacted them on Banks advice as they will ask for card details and internet passwords. AVOID AND REPORT.
Answer: I, too, was mysteriously debited by this company (whom I have never heard of). Now I must go through the inconvenient process of replacing the card, I suspect that this is, indeed, a scam!
