This company bombards you with information, gives you a package tracking number that registers invalid, the February box doesn't arrive until March 1 and then doesn't contain the samples it was supposed to contain. Birchbox is more interested in selling you all sorts of beauty products rather than provide superior customer service and products in its monthly subscription.
Okay I also love BirchBox. For only $10 they send you this neat little box filled with goodies like lip gloss, eye liner, nail polish, and other great beauty products and fun gifts. I know BirchBox probably gets all this stuff as free samples and they just put it all together for me and it doesn't cost them anything, but I still love it because it's a nice surprise. So give BirchBox a try... I think you'll feel the same way!
I bought a subscription for my sister as a Christmas present. Words cannot explain how disappointed I am. She candidly shared that she could use nothing in the box. Pink lipstick will not work. Who uses dry shampoo? I have; but it was a gel that was easily wiped out. Something to shave with... really? If I could rate below one star, I would.
I have been using Birchbox for a few months now and I must say it is absolutely fabulous! I am a product junkie so I love getting my box every month to try products before I buy them. I also loved that you receive points when you buy from Birchbox which eventually results in money off products. If there has ever been a minor error with my order the customer service team have always resolved it extremely fast and efficiently. I would definitely recommend Birchbox and have got a lot of my friends hooked already!
I received a year subscription as a gift from my sister. I was super excited and looked forward to trying all kinds of products before committing to pay lots of money to wind up having to rerun stuff. I'm sure every girl goes through this... well, come to be that most products Birchbox samples can ONLY be bought through them and apparently "be made for birchbox". I'm disappointed with the product samples
Birch box is the worst. I signed up for a free box on Oct or Nov time frame and in doing so I unknowingly signed up for a year subscription to the worst subscription box out there! They will not let me out of the contract. They send boxes that are not worth the what $15.00 we have to pay for them? I pay $25.00 for IPSY and get 5 regular size products. Plus they actually do go by your reviews and your beauty profile when sending products. The Birchbox I received today was so disappointing. All I want is out. I want my subscription cancelled! It can be done! Until then I will continue to leave bad reviews and I will continue to file complaints with The Better Business Bureau which they do not belong to because they have so many complaints filed against them, most of them due to them not letting people cancel their accounts. In the picture is February's box. You would think since it was the month for Valentine's they would do something special.
If you buy the annual subscription when they have a sale then it's not too bad. A lot of samples are repeats. That was even within a 12 month period.
I had several boxes missing samples, but the worst experience was when I tried to buy full size items during a sale. The price in the cart adjusted up ~+$20 at checkout (?!).
I contacted them within minutes and said don't ship, I've been charged completely different prices to those that showed in my cart at checkout. They insisted I needed to wait until delivery and then return. Delivery took ~2 weeks.
THEN - guess how long it took for them to refund me for their prepaid shipping from NC to NY? (oh yeah - I had to request the return shipping label THREE times)... anyone who had 8 weeks is a winner. So in total ~ 3 months to issue a refund. For an order that was confirmed as cancelled within the hour.
Yeah. No.
For the first few months I enjoyed most of the products they sent me, but then I began receiving a lot of junk in my boxes. My makeup bag is full of stuff I'll never use again from them. They say they hand pick products just for "you", but after reading other people's reviews, I'm finding that isn't true. I got the same green and gold eye shadow mentioned by two other people just on this site.
I must have caught a bad month! I have yet to receive my June 2014 box although I've paid for it. I do not find 100 points an acceptable trade when the tracking still says it's in Tennessee... but the company won't refund me! I am so annoyed that I've cancelled my monthly subscription!
I was gifted a subscription by my wife, so I tried not to be too negative about it, but it's really just a scam. They charge you almost $20 a month for a few tiny sample size products that the companies would otherwise just give away for free to try to entice you to buy from them. The pictures on the site lead you to believe that the samples are bigger than they are, but they are usually 1-3 uses. They also send out emails promising the ability to add bonus items to your box, but even if you click through immediately, everything will already be "sold out." They are basically selling you free stuff at a massive markup to try to entice you to spend even more money with them. The one good thing is it's kind of fun to get a box each month and open it up to see what's inside. Also, they charge men double what they charge women - I guess it's payback for women's haircuts etc. historically costing more than men's. Overall, though, I would describe it as a complete waste of money.
This company is terrible, awful, horrible. They have no problem charging me for a years worth of boxes but I tried ordering other items and they double charged me once after saying the order didn't go through because my billing address didn't match, I fixed the issue and STILL there was an issue with trying to order another product. Apparently they don't want my business bad enough. Especially since they have no live customer service reps. Get real. It is a website for customer service and it took them 36 hours to get back to me. Buy a clue Birchbox.
Birchbox's customer service is horrible. Their subscription boxes have mostly garbage. They are always out of the sample choices or curated boxes that you'd actually want. And they end up being "out of stock" on collections that they allow you to order, but then decide they can make more profit if they sell the items separately. I love makeup and skin products and have found everything in those boxes to be useless and cheap.
... and still waiting for my updated tracking, let alone my purchase. August box arrived on 8/23. I've really enjoyed my BB membership but this month, and their 'new delivery system' are aggravating AF.
I'm not sure what is going on with other reviewers boxes but the 4-5 I've received have been great. No issues billing and it always arrives when they say it will. Decent sizes for trials and only 1 item in 1 box that I really did not like. It's mostly hair face and fragrance items but that's what they advertise. It a great way to try out new products for a low price, and who doesn't like to have a gift waiting for you when you get home.
A long time ago, i had purchased birchbox as a gift. I thought earlier this year it would be a good way to try new stuff while in lock down. Received several boxes. None have actually be used, with the exception of a few products as i cant even tell what they are for or why i would be receiving them as they are nothing i would use. Looks to be like left overs from suppliers/companies, as most would not even be enough 'trial size' to really change products. Worse part is that i bought a 12 month subscription for something that is junk, and now no way to cancel! Oh, add on the BOX IN A BOX waste of cardboard from an environmental perspective. Don't waste your money. Go buy a full size product of what you really want each month! You will be WAY better off.
First, Birchbox is a big ol' scam. The samples are teeny tiny. They allege that you get to choose each month, but unless you spend a lot of money on the site or refer a bunch of people, by the time the choices are rolled out to you, they are all sold out and you get stuck with the sad little samples no one else wanted. The membership sign up claims you'll get choices and/or they'll tailor your box to your preferences, but that is so far from the truth. I get nothing but sunscreen and bright pink blush. Don't waste your time or money.
I recently placed an order with Birchbox to receive some full size products. The box contained four items, and one of them was slightly damaged. Birchbox replaced the entire box without asking any questions. Very pleased with their customer service. Also, I have been extremely happy with every box I've received!
I get so excited every time I get my email that my box is coming. You get 4-5 samples of brand name products, one of which you can choose out of three or four choices, and you take a quiz to let them know the kind of stuff you're interested in sampling. These are great quality samples too! I always love at least 3-4 of the samples. The $10 comes out of your account on the 1st every month. I recommend this to so many people. I'm their free advertisment!
This was a gift and every month received the same, small sized sample products of CC cream that I never needed. Never received a lip gloss. One time got a full size neon blue eyeliner. I actually emailed customer service and told them about how awful the samples were, that I never asked for CC cream and who wears neon blue eyeliner?! Customer service blamed it on my profile not being filled out correctly. What a crock! I also said every time I received an email to customize my next month's box, the product was always "sold out." This is complete trash marketing gimmick. Save your money.
This is such a wonderful idea. I think $10/month is more than fair for 5 samples of products you will not find unless you were specifically looking for. I have given gifts to friends as well. My only issue - if you can even call it that - is that after you have rec'd several boxes, I wish you could be presented with several options and then get to choose what they ship. I bought several full size products of some of the samples I got. So I did not want to receive samples of the same variety - such as spray leave in conditioner.
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to info@birchbox.com for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
Birchbox has a rating of 1.7 stars from 261 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases.
