They said the box would be customized, but it was not customized at all! Everyone gets the same pile of crap. I want to send it all back with a note that says "keep it!"
So, I have had a Birchbox subscription since March 2014 I've enjoyed the surprise of getting new products every month but a lot of times they cheap out on the box and put in foil packets and perfume samples as a part of the box each month. I have been willing to overlook this because they have an excellent points system that earns each subscriber $5 for reviewing all of the products in the box. As of July 11,2016 Birchbox amended this policy and now the only way to earn points in their shop is to but products or invites friends through a referral link. I'm incensed to find this out and am incredibly angry with myself that I have purchased a year subscription.
My July box just never came for me and while initially their customer service promised a replacement box when I emailed to inquire when said box might arrive they informed me that I would not be getting one but that my account would be credited (which to date it has not been).
Overall, I have been irrepressibly disappointed with the quality of products and customer service that I have received from Birchbox in 2016.
After a few months of service with this online sample product company, I must say they listened to me with the products I am interested in. They got it right!
I was lured into signing up for birchbox monthly treat only to be left disappoinited annoyed and frustrsted. The offer for September 2016 was sign up and get 2 boxes. II did. They took my money and NEVER SENT my boxes. I have emailed and called consistantly. Their phone number is never answered no matter what time of day you try. That leaves your only method of dealing with issues via email. Once again a nightmare as takes at least 2 days to get a reaponse. Eventually i did get a reply asking me to confirm my address... which was obviously correct as by now they had taken payment for October and aent this box. I confirmed immediately. But with their poor customer service and communication skills they reply back a week later saying its too late to resolve. There are much better companies to use... i wouldnt put yourself into their box!

These people must absolutely hate money. Tried to send multiple gift subscriptions and it couldn't be harder if they tried. Pure incompetence. Best of luck with your bankruptcy.
This company is shady and disorganized. Some samples are good and some are cheap, and I'm usually bored with what they send me. I also do Ipsy and Sephora play, Sephora being the best of the 3.
Why I will never subscribe to Birchbox again:
-it took 4 months and 3 emails to finally get a refund on some makeup I returned via mail! I think they were hoping I'd forget and they'd get to keep my money.
-they falsely advertised what colors come in their LOC liquid eyeshadows, replacing the purple with the most pale color (I bought it because I wanted to try the purple). Very disappointing.
-they do not have a phone number to call, and emailing them takes a long time to hear a response.
-their promotions (get a whole year for $x) wasn't actually made available for several month after their email. I contacted them to ask and never heard back.
-apparently my loyalty points expired earlier than their email said they would, but hey you can't contact them right away so I guess you just don't get them.
-I tried to delete my credit card and it's not straight forward... they make you enter a new one before deleting the old. I don't want them to renew another year of subscriptions so now I have to hope somebody actually contacts me. What a headache and joke this company is.
-this company needs to get itself together. If they fixed those dishonest things, it would be a better experience.
Birchbox was once a cool company with nice benefits (for $20 per month). If you reviewed sample products you paid for, you would receive points that would accumulate and allow you a nice little discount on products they sell. Well, they must not have made enough money on that scheme so they ended it. No more points or discounts for you! Each month you will receive some grooming products and a "lifestyle" product. Underwear, socks, a tie, and electronic item. Something worth about $10-$15 maybe. So you pay $20 per month (men's subscription) for a $10 item and samples you could get for FREE at Sephora. Suddenly the service went down the toilet. You SUPPOSEDLY get to chose your lifestyle item each month. Good luck. You select a neat little electronic item but you are sent a junky trinket because there were "production" problems. LOL! This happens all the time. I finally decided I had to complain to them. They couldn't give two S**TS. I'm convinced they "marked" me because my box every month is missing an item or I get junky trinket I didn't want. Oh well, my subscription ends in December. Then I'm done with them forever.
Long story short... Take $10 and buy yourself a neat little item (from amazon) they may feature on their website. Then go to mall and get 3 tiny samples from Sephora or ULTA. Next, put $10 back in your pocket. You will end up exactly the same without the frustration of getting screwed EVERY month.
I enjoy getting my birchbox each month. I've been subscribing now for 2 years and some months I get an awesome box and some months, they honestly suck, but for $10 a month, I'm not going to cancel unless I have some big issue. I've never had any problems with my box. One month we got a survey about receiving outdated samples, so they gave us like 1,000 points towards purchasing products on their website (which I've done once). It was no big deal, and appreciated that they acknowledged and apologized for something I didn't even see! I even reuse the boxes. I have so much makeup and samples that I paint the outside of the boxes and use them to hold different makeup and samples! I also used some of them to wrap Christmas gifts :) They charge me around the 1st and I get my box around the 18th- always been the same. No complaints from me! I would recommend if you like receiving samples of products I can't afford or won't really use a lot of (like I'm not spending $30 on shaving cream, but I'll try it a few times!). Keep 'em coming!
My sister ordered me these boxes as a gift. My March box had white lotion spilled throughout the entire inside. I thought things happen. I immediately let Birchbox know. I received email from this person that my box will be replaced. Today, my April box came. MY MARCH REPLACEMENT BOX STILL HASNT COME! I will never order!
Was gifted a three month subscription and month three has just passed with ZERO boxes delivered. No response from customer service, despite many tries.
What a scam.
Not only did my first box come half spilled but its junk. My second one never showed and they never answered my emails nothing i cancelled its a cheap $#*! joke
WHAT EVER YOU LADIES DO, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO BIRCHBOX! They rob your money! They don't give you any option to "cancel" they secretly make you pay "monthly" but really your LOCKED in for a YEAR PAYING THAT PRICE MONTHLY! No matter if something happens in your life that doesn't allow you to still get a box, they don't care! They will continue to rob your money from medical bills, food from your child's mouth and leave you stranded on the streets! I have stage four breast cancer and they are telling me that I can't be "unlocked" from their subscription I have to pay for another 8months to which WHO KNOWS IF ILL EVEN BE HERE
I like this as it introduces me to products that would never see or buy on my own. I'm not sure why it costs 2x the price as the women's but it was a gift at any rate. So I'm enjoying it.
Tiny department store samples, not worth the money. Now I'm in a 12 month agreement they won't let me out of, and I am completely dissatisfied with my first box.
The products are just horrible. Not happy with any of them! Tried to cancel and in stuck for a year even though I pay monthly!
Im going through the same thing right now as everyone else on here. Stuck in a 12 month subscription for such horrible samples and an added bonus..horrible customer service. If you are thinking of a new makeup subscription, ipsy, boxycharm, and even glossybox are all so much better than this. Atleast there you get your moneys worth. And they actually care about your customers. I dont understand why this subscription company is out to make customers dissatisfied. On my second month a customer representative told me oh by the way, we dont give points for reviews anymore. They are the only company that doesnt. I even received matrix samples in my box. The same ones from dollar tree before. I told them I lost my job and I have no income at the moment and any money that comes in, I need for my children..can I please end my contract. I was basically told too bad, I am stuck. Our subscription money is pretty much a donation to their company every month because what we receive in our boxes are 5 dollars worth of items. I am very unsatisfied with Everything about Birchbox. I cannot wait til my contract ends.
I thought this box was going to be great. But the products were a one time use. It also says that each box is made just for you, which is FALSE. The only thing great about it was the boxes were cute.
Yes, you get SAMPLES, but the samples you get are minis of full sizes you'd otherwise have to buy. I've added some fantastic products to my routine thanks to BB, however they do have a tendency to include flat out junk (i. E. ugly hairbands) and re-sending things. If you're upset about the sizes, well what did you expect for $10 a month?
My issue is with the beauty profile. It's not as detailed or deep as some other sites and more than once I've gotten stuff that just doesn't work (i. E. hair product for curls when my hair is straight. And yes, you do answer what type of hair you have).
This is good for noobs who don't know where to start for make-up and other similar products. It's really not as bad as some people complain about, but I don't know if I'll continue my subscription once it ends (gonna try some other similar services).
There points system works pretty well. After reviewing 2 boxes you have about $10 to spend in the shop. However, some products are more expensive on BB than on Amazon, but then again some are cheaper. Do your research.
The website looks good and functions well and is easy to navigate.
Had to use their customer service once and they were very courteous and thorough.
Finally gave in to subscribing to Birchbox after seeing a tie in with one of my fav television shows. So far, so good. If you're a product junkie, you will love birchbox!
I have been trying repeatedly to contact someone through there site (to return part of my order, not a birchbox) and no one will return my message and there is not phone number that I can find.
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to info@birchbox.com for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
Birchbox has a rating of 1.7 stars from 261 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Birchbox most frequently mention customer service, month subscription and credit card. Birchbox ranks 96th among Subscription Shopping sites.
