Here is an email I sent to the company yesterday. Still waiting for a response!
~First off, I want to start out by saying that I chose to pay for a subscription with Birchbox because of the convenience and quality of products, which I have enjoyed for approximately 18 months. However, after the lack in customer service I recently experienced, I am very disappointed with your company and the absence of value for your customers.
My Decemeber 2016 box was missing two samples. Since this was an honest mistake, I reached out to customer service to resolve the issue. I received a response within 24 hours and was notified that I would be receiving a replacement box. To my surprise, my replacement box had only one sample, instead of two.
I reached out to customer service yet again, and requested that my January 2017 box be shipped for free because of the inconvenience. To my disdain, my January box was sent to my past address, however when I contacted the apartment complex they informed me that they do not have the package.
How is it possible that my November Box, December Box and Replacement Box were sent to my current address, but my Free January Box was conveniently sent to my past address?
After being a customer of Birchbox for a year and a half, I thought my time and money would be valued, but your actions have proven otherwise. I already canceled my account and I no longer care to put any more time and effort in receiving my January box, or any further boxes for that matter.
I hope you take my case into consideration when evaluating your customer service or the lack there of.
They said they would cancel my subscription, we shall see... if not I guess I will have to file a "fraudulent charge" case with my CC company. Do NOT sign up with this company.
My June birchbox was covered in oil by Earth's nectar scalp oil and my eye candy shadow stick is broken in two. This is not the first time this has happened.
Please dont subscribe to this box. Just dont. I ordered my first box with a promo code to receive 2 extra mascaras. I got an email a week later saying whoops! They messed up and they were all gone, but they would send me a similar product. Fine, okay. Then it took me 3+ weeks to even receive it. In the mean time, I was charged for my second box before I even knew if I liked it. The products are just thrown in a cardboard box, no attempt at presentation whatsoever. My first box had the extra mascaras just thrown in the mailing bag loose. I ended up throwing away most of the samples I received because they were either worthless (a piece of cardboard with a smudge of lipstick, for example) or full of toxic crap; I was under the impression that Birchbox was a higher quality beauty subscription, but I suppose I was wrong. In an attempt to find out what the heck was going on with my boxes, I sent a note to customer service. Its like they didnt even read my note. It was just a generic response that was completely unhelpful and made me even more angry. I wish I would have spent my $20 on literally any other beauty box subscription.
This is the second time I have received the box with the best part missing which is the perfume samples. Nothing else in these boxes is ever worth the $10 or it is something no one would ever like.
Don't do it, don't go with Birchbox! Cheesy products and not worth it.
I stupidly signed up for a year!
Horrible samples, try Allure instead.
Horrible products...
I ordered a 3-month gift subscription for secret santa at work. Never received shipping info, gift never came. Now here I am still tracking down the gift a week AFTER the christmas party.
I ordered the Birchbox and was surprised to see quality stuff there and brands I like, good size samples, which I, m interested in because it's hard for me to get out, and I like that you can get full size, So I try another, Well the, other bag was was a kids bag, cheap products and not all natural stuff,,,, cancelled it, and decide to give them another try, Have no problem cancellation, so nice very nice,,,, so guess Birchbox is the choice if you want quality stuff, and I like the online store, I love Toca, which I have been trying to find,, cool.
You pay for a pretty box of free samples. You'd be better off walking through Macy's and collecting free samples and not have to pay for it. This is such a scam.
Damaged products in my box - i want a refund or a new box. A blush that cracked was all over the products in the ox had to throw it all away big mess on my carpet and my clothing
Have tried several times to cancel. For some reason not receiving email to reset password. Can't speak to a human. Have to set up a time for them to call you? Frustrating. No real time help.
The rep lumping hair filler is great. It does give volume to my limp hair. I like the volume boosting shampoo also and the conditioner which helps my limp, fine hair. Plan to purchase both.
I'm a member of Ipsy and Scentbird as well as Birchbox and I just don't think they compare. Yes the SAMPLEs they send are usually pretty good but its exactly that, a FREE SAMPLE. With their competitors you at least get 1 FULL PRODUCT item making the value well worth it. I didn't want to leave a review after the first shipment because I wanted to be fair but the 2nd one proved to be the same stuff. If I'm still not impressed with my 3rd shipment I'll be canceling the subscription. The said "pretty box" is just clutter abs used in my fire so again, not worth it to me. I truly suggest doing research on read they reviews people who know ipsy know value and won't be satisfied with this.
I am incredibly angry and disappointed in Birchbox. The products are great, and the concept is great. I committed to a 6 month subscription. At month 7, I asked to cancel my subscription and you CAN NOT DO IT ONLINE. I FINALLY got ahold of a customer representative, and she PROMISED that all future payments and subscriptions were canceled. One month later, I am billed AGAIN. Again, I am unable to reach ANYONE via customer service. Horrible service, and they keep taking my money. Also, when you submit your credit/debit card in their system, it will NOT let you remove it; even after your committed subscriptions, so I am stuck paying for this subscription and can't take my payment method off file. NOT HAPPY. Still waiting for customer service to respond.
Birch Box for men is a big rip off. I was so mad the first box I got I canceled and they still sent it. This was even worse. Do not get the 20$ Birch Box for men. Elizabeth Price
I recently bought a birchbox monthly box, and I got charged but never got it. They took $10 and when I contacted them they said "Oh it must be someone charging on your card and it wasn't us ask your bank blah blah blah." Do not buy from here, IT IS TOO OVERPRICED AND IS SO NOT WORTH IT. I also got a travel kit a few weeks ago which came, but it is sample sized even though I payed 40 fricken dollars! DONT BUY FROM HERE, ITS NOT WORTH IT!
So this monthly sample box is neat, but why does it cost twice as much as the women's subscription? That is my one complaint, albeit significant.
Signed up as a new customer for November. I was informed boxes shipped before the 10th of every month. After the 10th, my account still said "processing." An email to customer service promoted them to tell me "we ship by the 10th business day, not the 10th of the month... If you don't get an update by the 12th email us again." As of the 12th I had not received an update, though it was a holiday. As of the 13th I emailed and said my subscription still hasn't shipped. Customer service said it shipped out yesterday. Fast forward over a week later, I still don't have my box and the tracking number hasn't updated from shipped on the 12th. I emailed customer service and said cancel my subscription, this service is terrible. Rep totally ignored me and just said box is on its way. I emailed again a few days later and said this is really pissing me off, I want the remainder of my subscription refunded, I'm not paying for any more boxes. It's now 11/21 and I still don't have a box, tracking hasn't updated. Rep emailed me back and said she canceled and refunded my card. But where's my box?! I'm going back to Ipsy; they're customer service was way better!
I was initially quite excited to order a Birchbox (January 2017) after seeing an ad for two boxes for the price of one on Facebook. I'm a student, so the £10 + £2.95 pricetag did throw me off a little at first, but I ordered another one anyway, figuring it couldn't hurt to just try it out. NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO WRONG.
It's been 11 days since I ordered my box. The initial confirmation of my order that I received told me to expect my box within 5-8 days. 7 days after this confirmation email, I got an email saying that my box had only just been dispatched from the warehouse (that takes a week to do?) and that I should expect it in another 8 days. This is ridiculous. It's a bloody box. Other brands, even stuff from overseas, manage to get their stuff to me within 3 days!
I have already unsubscribed and do not intend to renew my subscription, no matter how "amazing" the contents of my box may be (I have not received it yet so I cannot judge this). I don't even think I'm going to get my two boxes for the price of one, and from other reviews, I don't even think it's worth messaging customer service to ask for it.
DO NOT ORDER FROM BIRCHBOX, try other monthly box brands such as Glossybox and others.
I'm not really sure where to start. I am a total beauty junkie and a VIB at Sephora. So after seeing Birchbox commercials ever day for months, I decided to sign up. The instant I did, I started receiving multiple emails per day to try products I've never heard of. The point of signing up was to receive samples first to see what I like and don't like, not to receive 3 SPAM emails per day. I ordered over a month ago and still no box. They sent me a tracking number 12 days ago and it's been sitting in the same place for all 12 days. A mule could have delivered it on foot faster, especially considering it's just ONE STATE away from me! Also, their website is just bizarre - seems like it was built by some kid who just got out of college - very customer UNfriendly. Additionally, replying to any of their emails will get your an error message, nor do they provide an alternate "reply to" in any of their emails. Trying to submit a complaint online also does not work and when I FINALLY reached a human being this morning, I was told that their website is not compatible with IE. If that is the case, then how was I able to sign up on your website using IE? If your website is not compatible with a browser and the website detects that you are using that browser, a popup should tell you to use a different one - how is that so hard? I refer back to my previous comment about who built this farce of a website...
Anyway, I called today and told them to cancel my membership effective immediately. So after one month, I am out $10 and have received NOTHING. Well, nothing but frustration and irritation, which I could have found all on my own for free. Thanks for nothing! Worst company I've ever done business with.
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to info@birchbox.com for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
Birchbox has a rating of 1.7 stars from 261 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Birchbox most frequently mention customer service, month subscription and credit card. Birchbox ranks 96th among Subscription Shopping sites.
