I have been a customer with Birchbox for a few years and I really didn't have any issues until recently. A while back I had asked them to stop the automatic charge on my debit card and they agreed. Last year I ordered a 6 month package instead of the 1 year and when 6 months was up they charged my card. I was not expecting the charge because of the previous agreement and it overdrew my checking account and cost me a fee. I messaged with a rep and she told me she did see where they agreed to not charge my account, but since I switched to a 6 month package, they charged my account. I got a lot of "apologies", but that was it. They did not care one bit. There was absolutely no effort on their part to rectify the situation. Absolutely horrible customer service. I will be going with another company.
Horrible. Twice in a week I've placed an order for an item listed on the birchbox shopping site as in stock. Twice my credit card has been charged. AFTER the fact I get the message that the item isn't in stock and shouldn't have been listed on the site?! Um my credit card was charged both times! Now I have a week long period to wait for a refund to be processed. When did it become legal to take people's money for out of stock items like this?!
Birch box is a joke, you must fill out a questionnaire so they can personalise your box, which they don't they toss anything on hand in your box half the crap they sent went in the trash! If you don't wear lipstick you definitely don't want bright pink lipstick! And I think they make the perfume is grandmas basement! Birch box good idea just not exacuded!
I placed an $85.00 order, received it, was not thrilled with receiving literally the smallest sample sizes of products for the money spent. Tried to contact them for returns. No phone number. Had to email them a couple of times. About a week later received a response they are so busy and will get back to me in the order they received the email. I had to reach out 2 more times. Finally got a return label and the email said I would receive a credit 7-10 days of receipt of items. I promptly shipped back everything. Waited 3 week not receiving a refund. Had to email them again. Waited a few more days and got a response that said my return may have been lost in transit. But they will issue a refund and to wait another 3-5 days. It's been 3 days and I still don't see a refund. Ridiculus. It seems to me they only moves things along if you are persistant. Never will purchase anything from them again. Lesson will learned. Heading back to Loof Fantastic and Beauty Fix.
I love birchbox. It has introduced me to incredible products I wouldn't have otherwise known about. They have a great point system that translates to dollars toward a product purchase or gifting a birchbox subscription for a friend. They also have birchbox for men, which is also great. Except for the fact that it's twice as much as the women box. No idea why the price hike, but that's the only big bummer about it.
I am 8 months into a 12 month subscription that started nicely. I was happy with the samples that came in a nice reusable box. Always delivered in a timely manner. Then one day I had trouble logging into my account, so I emailed them for help. Got an automatic reply saying they're so busy it would take 8 to 10 days before they could help me. No help ever came, and I eventually did get into my account on my own.
In September, my order arrived just haphazardly shoved into a brown shipping box. This month, October, my credit card was charged on the 3rd, and now it's the 26th and my order hasn't been shipped yet. I emailed them asking where my order is and get the same automated reply as last time. While looking for a phone number, I come across a customer review site where women are essentially writing the same thing PLUS the company makes it nearly impossible to cancel subscriptions and will keep charging peoples' credit cards indefinitely. Some people ended up canceling their credit card number and getting a new one, which is what I did yesterday. So a word of warning…don't even bother with this company.
Subscribed for 2 months. Received 2 boxes of things that I didn't find useful and wouldn't buy. On the 2nd month, 1 of the items in the box, a red lipstick, broke off and fell on the floor when I opened it. I emailed Birchbox about the incident and their response was to offer me points to spend on items on their site... not an appropriate response to a dispute. Cancelled my subscription that day.
I signed up for this as a gift for my son in law. When I first registered, I received notification that the box would be delivered on Monday 8/29. Today is 8/31 and now I'm receiving notifications that the box won't be delivered until sometime between now and September 7th! So far I'm not impressed. Wish I had read the reviews before I signed up, because I wouldn't have.
I ordered an amika curler from them and it was supposed to be delivered between July 27 and July 29. They sent me an email saying it had shipped with a tracking number but I'd check every day and it still hadn't gone anywhere. The tracking itself sucks and now it finally says on July 29th that the pre shipment info was sent to USPS. So annoyed at how long this take, not a professional business at all. I will never purchase from here again, I trust randoms on the internet more than this place.
Do NOT give these people your credit card information. I canceled this over 60 days ago and they STILL keep charging my card. I have to file a fraud complaint with the state attorney general on Monday - nothing else seems to get these people to stop charging me
I did not like birchbox at all! The samples was extremely small and you babe to pay full price to get a full sized. I signed up with ipsy and they are amazing! You get 4 to 5 high quality deluxe samples and I have always received alway 1 full sized item! Also if you wish to purchase a full sized sample item you get a discount of 20% to 50% off on the products Web site! Then they have a referral program for you to earn points and get more free product! To top it all off they have product giveaways you can enter into and win products worth up to $300+! Check them out using my link!

Was a gift for Mother's Day. This month no notification of the box availability (July).
No way to contact them. Last month none left by the 29th of May for the June box!
Really? Month before, etc. bad business practices. Scam.
I've been a Birchbox member for a little over a year. Initially I was thrilled with both the products and the service. But as time has gone by my satisfaction has reached rock-bottom.
I just today received my June box. First is a card with a code. The code is to be entered on their website so that I may see what prize I've won. My "prize"? A 20% off discount in their store! Big prize.
Then instead of the fabulous Eyeko liquid eyeliner that was supposedly in every member's box I received a neon blue crayon eyeliner. Umm yeah, so NOT the product promised. A neon blue crayon eyeliner is nowhere near an accurate substitute for a liquid eyeliner.
My next item? A weird green lace headband. I've repeatedly told these people I have no hair as it fell out after chemo. Yet every box I receive hair-care items and today, a headband. Awesome!
I could go on but why. Just as I could continue my subscription but why. As of tonight I'll be canceling, Birchbox worst subscription service ever!
I purchased an annual subscription for my daughter as a holiday gift. So far I am disappointed with Birchbox. I was sent an email to choose the box wanted for February. I sat down with my daughter today (January 30) to choose. The deadline was January 31. Both boxes say they are "sold out". You send an email telling a subscriber that she has a choice and provide a deadline but she has no choice at all. I don't even know if she will get a box this month but even if she does - it wasn't her choice.
The January box was fairly disappointing - very small sample sizes. I am sorry that I purchased this subscription for her. I wish I would have waited and just renewed her subscription to Glossybox in February for her birthday. I truly feel like this is a ripoff kind of scam. Yuck.
I receive this for Christmas was very excited but so far I've only gotten shampoo samples and a couple of make up remover wipes. Not even bottles of shampoo but the kind you get in magazines, booger glued to the page. Don't subscribe, it's HORRIBLE.
Just don't. Save yourself a headache and go with any other similar service.
They recently changed shipping "partners" (eye roll) and I never received a box again. I would report the missing box, they would send a replacement weeks later via another shipping service which means they knew there was a problem with the original shipping service and yet it was never looked into.
I think it's insane that more action wasn't taken. Wouldn't you want to solve this issue and make sure your customers were getting your product!? The customer service emails in response to my missing reports would imply that I must have changed my address and there was nothing they could do--made it seem like they were doing me a favor by reshipping it. Come on.
This was a total disappointment! The samples are to small, it's not worth the money you pay each month. Somebody was raving about the box, its a cardboard box,
You can take the box! The makeup sample That was in my box today hardly had no product in the miniature tube for me to even test on my face. After that, I canceled the subscription.
I got a birchbox subscription when it was on a living social deal - the deal was great, all I had to pay was the postage.
Then in January I noticed that they had taken a full 6 months subscription from my account (great, straight after Christmas!) I contacted them and they said that as the birchbox had been sent they couldn't refund my money. They assured me it wouldn't happen again - but it just has. They've said if I return the box (that hasn't yet been dispatched!) they will issue a refund.
A lot of work on my behalf - taking it to the post office, chasing it up etc for their mistake.
Some of their items are great but customer service is appalling.
Ipsy is so much better than this for the money. This boxes are cute but water ruins them, unlike the awesome reusable Ipsy bags each month. The products are better to buy smaller sizes than to signup for their sample program.
Dollar store has them beat as far as quality on 90%+ of the items they sell...$150 for a liter of the worst shampoo in the world? Conditioner stinks too... talking next to $300 for awful hair. My hair is in great condition, after using this product, my hair felt fried and the shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair stripped the color faster than anything I've ever used. Horrible overpriced literally trash. I couldn't wait to rewash my hair with my old Aussie
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to info@birchbox.com for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
Birchbox has a rating of 1.7 stars from 261 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Birchbox most frequently mention customer service, month subscription and credit card. Birchbox ranks 96th among Subscription Shopping sites.
