I buy almost everything online and this has been so far the worst experience. Sent me a faulty and damaged item, they only refund if it's returned - so beware, someone is going to receive this item one day! After returning the damaged item, they refunded partially, as someone in the company must have thought that the shipping costs were not to be refundable as well. It's a damaged good, not something that I decided I didn't like! Customer service is the worst and the feeling they leave is that you can't trust them. Never again will I buy on that site.
I ordered two bookshelves in May (it said on their sites I would receive them in 1 week), in the end of June half of both bookshelves arrived. I have been e-mailing them weekly since then and tried calling but no one answers. Needless to say they were quite expensive bookshelves...

Do not order from this website. They took over 9 months to fill my order for a Tuuci umbrella, stand and cover. The customer service is basically non-existent. I called many times, was on hold for an hour, then disconnected. This happened over and over again. The turnover in the customer service department must be high as when I finally got responses, they were most often from different people. They are full of excuses and lack professionalism. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. The first time they send me the product, it got lost? How is that possible? At least that's what they told me. Nowadays with tracking, packages that weigh 70 kilos don't just get lost.
Saw some nice Scandi furniture on the site that was a bit cheaper than UK prices. PayPal option didn't work when checking out which did make me wonder... Checked out using my card instead. Following morning I received an email asking me to "Send my credit card statement" to verify my identity. Upon getting this I took some advice from my bank. I then emailed back to cancel the order (given that I no longer had confidence in the transaction). They agreed to refund my card which they did within a couple of days. They were helpful & friendly. Undecided as to their legitimacy.
Great stock but terrible delivery service. We ordered a sofa and when it was delivered they would only bring it to the front door, I'm pregnant and live on the first floor and they wouldn't help at all. The guy just drove off:-/ leaving my sofa in the building entrance.
I was looking for a very specific lamp by Catellani&Smith, but couldn't really find it online, only some similar lamps. So I sent an enquiry via e-mail to see, if it was possible for AmbienteDirect to order it from the manufacturer for me. It turned out to be no problem and the price was really good! I'm so happy now with my new golden lamp hanging in my bedroom where I can see it every day!
I have the same problem as everyone else. NO ANSWER to phone and emails. NO LIGHTS! What is happening?! I payed for 3 Glo ball lights on 19th March, showing as in stock still waiting. Tried to cancel order and request refund. No refund, and no way of contact. I have no choice but to go through credit card company and leave reviews wherever I can. This much be the most frustrating experience daily calls - your phone lines place on hold for 6 minutes 38 seconds then cut off. Order number *******. Then you try to suggest my order was 'business' order to get out of giving a refund.

As the 42 other 1 star reviews state, this company will take your money and not ship your products. They have deleted there Twitter account due to the massive volume of complaints.
After 5 months our order has not been delivered and the only means of getting a response was by working through the manufacturer to find a contact within AmbienteDirect. Even after making contact, we were given false assurances that our product was delivered.
Find what you are looking elsewhere, this company is a scam.
I ordered a ponchos for my wife's bday, email came through with no delivery date. But a promise of 2 weeks. That's three weeks again. I will go to Munich and hunt them down if that's what they think is acceptable behaviour. Will update

Worst site. I made an order on September 2014! The order was suppose to be delivered within 2 weeks. It's now end of November and they still send the same idiotic email saying sorry but it will now take another 2 weeks. I have request a immediat reimbursement as they of course debited my credit card back in September for the full amount and they ignore that part of the email! It's obvious they don't care about their consumers! I am starting to think they are scammers!
I made an order of some very expensive chairs, my miney taken immediately. No response to my countless mails. No call. They never ever pick up the phone. They are frauds. Do not ever use them and tell everyone else. I want my money back and prepared to take legal action. Can anyone tell me if they also did the same? This company needs to be shut down. Shameful! Bought an expensive Artemide lamp here 6 months ago, which was delivered in damaged condition because of insufficient use of packaging materials + because the base of the lamp (heavy) was left lose inside the package.
In any case customer service (or the lack of it) has been a disaster and now 6 months later I still do not have a nice looking and fully functioning lamp...

Follow up: despite so many mails asking them not to send the item said I am on holiday will not be able to collect the parcels, they still sending it to me. They ignore my mail and send me a mail with tracking no from DHL. I read from other reviews claim they received faulty goods or damage goods, I think the best way is not to accept the parcel at first place.
I think is the worst customer service I had in any online company. The people answering emails and calls. Specifically * are a disaster.
They did not let me cancel the order, they hung up the phone after waiting for minutes in long distance calls and they do not give me the papers I need to return the item. I will never, ever purchase from them again and will give them bad reviews whenever I can.

I bought 3 very expensive stools in June. The paint was chipping off them after a short period of time, even though we were very careful with them.
I have been trying for MONTHS to get replacements or a full refund. They do not respond to emails or faxes, and I have had to call them multiple times to be told different things by different people. I was promised a new set of stools by one, just to be told by another (4 weeks later) that they weren't coming.
Their Customer Service is appalling, and I would avoid ordering from them again. They do not stand by their products, their defence is that they sell a lot of them and no one else has complained!
I ordered a month ago I have sent numerous emails and called customer service 5 times. I have no idea where my product is or when I will receive it. I speak to Madeline in customer service who fobs me off by saying someone will call me in 2 days. This has never happened. This company should be shut down, it should not be allowed to ignore its customers like this.
Be very wary of this online designer lighting and furniture supplier. They will send you the expensive goods, which in our case was badly packaged and damaged... They will then tell you to send it back to them in the cheapest way for exchange. They will leave you to deal with the packing, postage and handling of the damaged goods, which can be VERY expensive getting these large damaged goods back to Germany. Then when it comes to compensation for the cost of sending the damaged goods back, they will offer you a ridiculous FRACTION of the price, leaving you with a HUGE shortfall, and subsequently an astronomically priced replacement light / piece of furniture. The returns policy is VERY poor! Be careful. We now own an AJ light that is worth AU$2,300.00 when it should have cost AU$1,700.00. Makes you angry and disappointed every time you look at it!

Now that I'm asking to cancel the order and to get my money back they answer that it's not possible. Unless I'd like tu buy something else with the same amount!
And if I want to call them, it's impossible. And by mail I have to wait at least one week for a poor answer.

Answer: My order number is AB00006347 and I ordered my products 29.01.2015. 3 months later they finally respond to my countless e-mails and tell me one of the products is not available anymore and was wondering what to do about my order. I told them that I want to cancel my order and want a full refund, since I also paid my purchase in advance. A person called Mai Nguyen returned my e-mail on 14.05.2015 saying that they have cancelled my order and I will get a refund within 14 days. I posted a review on this site about Ambiente direct and then Christine D. Answered me that her colleague Mai is taking care of my case and I get my refund asap. Today is 17.07.2015 and still no refund. This is just the worst company ever! I did expect a German company to be trustworthy but no. Tell everyone not to have anything to do with these people!
Answer: The way I finally was able to get my issue was resolved was through messaging them on their Facebook page. I had ordered two light fixtures and was short shipped only one. After bringing up the mishap to them and getting no response, then filing a charge-back which was reversed because of the tracking number for the single light fixture that I was shipped I started reaching out to them on Facebook and after pestering them for a couple of months via Facebook they finally refunded me my money. Their Facebook admin was actually quite responsive. I would never order anything from this company again. It was a nightmare to deal with them. Good luck!
