They don't explain how their credits work, they don't give you the correct amount and their customer service is horrible. Was supposed to be given $230 in credits to be used over 6 weeks. Had to call customer service 3 times in 30 days about my credits but was never told they expire after 30 days so lost $55 in credits. Also there was a problem with all 4 boxes we got. Either the fresh produce was damaged or going bad or the sauce packets leaked all over everything. I like the meal plan concept so will look for a better one.
My wife and I decided to subscribe to Blue Apron. Tonight we got our first order ever from them. Astonishingly, two of our three meals came with NO protein (shrimp in one case, chicken in the other).
Customer Service admitted they get their orders wrong 10% of the time!
We made the Cajun Shrimp & Zucchini Bake substituting chicken from our freezer for the shrimp they didn't send. It did taste very good.
There are lots of alternatives to Blue Apron.
We'll have to see if they can quickly address their order accuracy problems. Being able to count on them delivering the order is essential.
I selected the 4 meals for 2 people to be delivered on Monday. The first box, which was just last week, never delivered. FedEx uploaded a picture of the delivery without any landmarks--I live in an apartment, so the most I could see was that it was in one of the multiple buildings. It was not in my building or the next. Blue Apron was kind enough to give me a credit on my account. Now today (21st), Tuesday, I still haven't received my Monday box. It was delayed in transit, which means the food is one day older... I am moving on from Blue Apron and going back to HelloFresh (have never had delivery issues with them).
Super excited to try my blue apron coupon. It was, however, a huge disappointment. The meals are over rated, boxed, over salted garbage. They deliver on time but you have to sift through all the ingredients in the box before even starting to prepare. And when I say prepare, I mean PREPARE. You have to do everything!
The food is not worth the high ticket price. When they say 'free meals' they are lying
I canceled my subscription but was still charged for a extra week. We received a box with busted open mayonnaise spilled all over the other ingredients, reaching out to support I received a $0.90 credit, what a slap in the face! The recipes are amazing, that's why I gave them 2 stars, but the customer service is horrible and they are very clearly money hungry.
Ordering through Blue Apron is such a treat. Why use ubereats when you can order amazing food from amazing places and also get it delivered to your doorstep? Worth every penny and now I get to eat my way through the best in the country without having to leave my house.
We knew we were in for a bad time when we first opened the box and all of the ingredients are randomly tossed together with a few smaller ingredients in unmarked bags that you have to rummage through. A lot of the directions are off on certain cook times and such that you really have to be aware of to avoid ruining the food. Worst of all is we paid extra for a specific meal and they left out over half of the ingredients! We gave Blue Apron a try two times about a year apart. If we actually received the delivery the food, it was good and fresh and easy to prepare.
Unfortunately, the 9 out of 10 deliveries were cancelled by Blue Apron... claiming carrier issues. The biggest problem was that we had shopped and planned our menus around the service. They left us in a lurch so many times that we had to give up using them:(
About a year later, we thought we would try again and hoped they had solved their delivery problems. They didn't. We got our first order just fine and on time. The second one said it was on time for delivery, but the day of scheduled delivery said it was delayed. Two days later they cancelled our order. So zero meals for the week :( Back to the grocery:(
Tried to call them and find out what was really going on and maybe get them to fix the delivery problems. The rep was less than useless.
Finally cancelled and going back to Hello Fresh, at least They can get the food delivered!
We were given Blue Apron meals for Christmas. The first order was wrong and the second showed up 3 days late and was spoiled. The next two were on time but mediocre. The next one was 3 days late and spoiled. The company gives you a credit but is not reliable in getting you deliveries. We closed our account and left the balance to them. Hope to never hear from them again. Hello Fresh seems to be much better and reliable.
I loved the blue apron meal boxes, except for the chopping. The only reason I quit using them was because I found a cheaper option. Blue apron is on the pricier side. Otherwise a great option to make gourmet meals yourself.
I really enjoy Blue Apron. There are so many meal delivery services nowadays, I like how easy it is to order, how easy it is to skip a week, How easy is to follow the recipe card. Meals always arrive on time and price per box/week is comparable to others in the market. Blue Apron is my top meal delivery service.
This is one of the greatest concepts I've ever experienced. It's everything you need and nothing you don't and the perfect portions. My wife is an incredible cook and we can't go to restaurants because she doesn't like anything. She has loved every single recipe and thinks I'm a classically trained chef. Whether your an experienced cook or you can barely boil water, this concept works for everyone. If you can read, you can cook. And a lot of the recipes or some thing I never would've thought of fixing for myself. I cannot say enough about blue apron and the delicious meals. And the price is right as well. Dinner at a nasty Fast food place for two is almost the same price.
I had some meals that sounded different but turned out great. Their choices range from meat and potatoes to Chinese steamed buns. Customer service is good and they have an active Facebook group. I learned some new cooking ideas and have remade several of their recipes that's how good they are.
Just completed my first "3-meals for two" delivery and have been blown away! I've always loved cooking and Blue Apron removes all the stress in trying to create great meals. No shopping, no forgetting ingredients, and straight forward directions. I work 10-hour days and this system works great for me! There's a bit of work involved (slicing, dicing, etc.), but the trend results are fantastic! I'm hooked!
We moved cities and did not need blue apron anymore, so in about May-July of 2021 I emailed customer support to cancel my subscription (because this is the only way to cancel other than sitting on the phone line for hours) and never heard back. Of course, I eventually forgot to skip a few meals because months had gone by and my card was charged and the package sent to my previous address, which again I don't live at anymore. I emailed customer service TWO MORE TIMES and yet to this day, December 4th, 2021, I have not heard back or gotten my account cancelled. Really a bad business model, and I would highly discourage anyone looking to start a subscription with BlueApron, as these guys are just shady.
Wanted to try something different. Have used Hello Fresh for years. First order with Blue Apron the fish was missing. Several orders had missing ingredients. One order was a day late. Very disappointed. Do not recommend.
Go shopping, if you can order pea pod, find your own ingredients for three recipes. $15 worth of food for $60. So complicated, not worth it at all. Amount of garbage created by this delivery was shocking! Totally not eco friendly nor cost effective. Save your money.
I really like the meals I made with Blue Apron. The recipes were creative, easy and delicious. The food was generally well packaged. However, they simply do not have their packing/distribution system figured out. On average, nearly every other delivery was missing an ingredient. Sometimes just a small one (like a spice), sometimes a major one (like the peppers that were in the title of the recipe). They were prompt about apologizing and providing some credit on the next order, but realistically, you subscribe to these services so you don't have to go to the grocery store. I don't care about the money, I care about being able to make the meal in the recipe reliably, every week. I held on for a long time, hoping they'd get their act together, but they never did. They would also never engage in a discussion or explanation - just "So sorry! We'll pass your concern along. Here's some credit!" which I found really frustrating.
Blue Apron should consider alternatives to how meals are packaged and shipped. There are too much packaging including plastic containers and bags which has no where to go, but into the environment. I cannot consider a relstionship with this company.
I live in a small city and so far my onsite delivery accuracy is at 50% I have complained and they credit my account but I cannot count on their delivery arriving on my chosen day and more than half of the time now it gets delivered to a neighbor who brings it by a day or two or three later, partially or fully de thawed. Ugh, I have to toss the whole mess and wait another week with pessimism that I will receive my order.
Answer: This seems to be Blue Apron's way of holding up a (false, pseudo) customer base for purpose of over-inflating their numbers for investors.
Answer: Hello. You do not know what time the box will arrive, just which day, and you pick which day you want it. I have never had anything spoiled or overheated in our box; there are "ice packets" in it. So as far as choice of meals... when you first sign up you can make choices about things you don't want. We selected no seafood and no walnuts. I wouldn't go crazy opting out of stuff; you can imagine that takes away so many options for delicious recipes. If you have a lot of special food needs, I don't think a meal service is for you. Anyway, we get our box on Tuesdays and on Monday I receive an email saying my box is on its way and what recipes are in it. That email also tells you what's coming for the next week. You can change your recipes up to a few days ahead, which might be convenient if you are worried about what you are getting. You can also go online and see many weeks out and change any of those too. I will say this though, if you are picky picky and not open minded about trying new recipes, I don't know if you should sign up. Blue Apron's recipes are very unique and have a lot of ethnic flavor profiles and spices and things like that; but they have all been great, again, if you want to have fun and try new things. There have been a couple where we thought maybe we should change that, maybe we won't like it, but we didn't and just went ahead and tried it and we have not regretted it once. You can see more on the review I posted.
Answer: They DEFINITELY hide the "cancel" button - I had to email them to find it, and they said "you can always just pause your deliveries!" but you have to hand click each week you want paused, and you can only go a few weeks out. If you do that and forget, deliveries will start up again automatically. It felt very sneaky.
Blue Apron has a rating of 2.5 stars from 138 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Blue Apron most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next delivery. Blue Apron ranks 9th among Food Delivery sites.
