I received a delivery in late December on an expired credit card so I did not think it billed me but when I opened my credit card bill this weekend it was there. I called to get a refund and they refused. I spoke to three seperate people and no one would help me (except to give me another free box which I did not want since I called to cancel my account). They told me I would have to send in an email to have someone else "help" me. I have not been treated that badly in a long time... I guess customer service has no meaning to Blue Apron... I would not recommend them to anyone.
Imagine waiting for the food you are planning to prepare and serve and it just never arrives... so very disappointing. After trying for the past few weeks trying to find out why this is happening, speaking to their new delivery service, Lazership, still no food!
Terrible customer service
Missing ingredients and when you call them they say there is nothing they can do
Menu is ok, not healthy at all though
Packaging is an overkill, a real waste
I would not recommend Blue Apron.
I would recommend Hello Fresh!

After signing up on the referral of a family member, I read reviews, many of them unfavorable and got scared. BUT--I had NO problems with any missing ingredients, broken packaging, or late deliveries. I only had good experiences with their customer service also! I canceled because of the cost, although I could see doing this again when I don't have a house full of picky eaters! I like what Blue Apron is doing with their company and would recommend them if you are looking for a meal service.
My friend gave me a credit towards one free delivery, so I got 3 meals for free, which is awesome. I'm so glad I didn't spend money on it, because they messed up my order and are unwilling to fix their mistake. One of the meals I ordered was the Crispy Chicken Tenders and they gave me all the ingredients, minus the chicken tenders. I called customer service and they told me they would credit me the cost of 1 meal towards my next delivery. The problem with that is that you can't just order 1 meal. You have to pay a minimum of $60, which includes 3 meals (6 servings). I don't go out to eat and spend $10 a meal for a reason- I can't afford it. So, in order for them to fix their mistake, they want me to spend $40. I wasn't planning on ordering from them again, because I can't afford it. They should have offered to send me the missing food at no extra cost. I won't be recommending Blue Apron to anyone.
I received a free week from a friend. I signed up on Wed 6/27 and set the delivery to arrive on Fri 7/6. After I entered the payment information and proceeded, the date automatically change to Sat 6/30 (We are going away this weekend) and the system told me I had less than 20 minutes to change it. I tried everything and nothing worked. I even contacted the Blue Apron Help Center and still haven't gotten any response. Now it says the package is on the way and now we need to make accommodations for someone to come get the food so it doesn't spoil in the 90 degree heat. AND I was charged the full amount. FREE TRIAL MY $#*!.
Thought I would give this service a try since I love cooking and would like to change up my meals. Ordered my service and delivery was guaranteed for Delivery on the 3rd of December by 8PM. 8PM came and went and I guess my order ended up at someone house in a different city and was sent back to facility. Next day called customer service which took 10 minutes to talk to live person and cancelled my service. They didn't try to resolve problem just let me on my way. 1st impressions can kill a business and will talk of this for months with people who ask me what I think or if I have tried the service. They are growing to fast to control major problems. I have since found Hello Fresh which is a bit more expensive but better reviews and better meals.
Their products and service are excellent. But I have tried over and over to cancel them and they don't make it easy. I found a link tonight and got it done and they charged me $35. I find that ridiculous. Pretty sure they don't tell u that up front.
Wanted to check them out, and see what they had to offer. They took me straight to billing before I could see their menu. Not impressed! I'll stick with their competitor.
The food was okay, the portions were too small, and they make it impossible for you to cancel. Unless you intend on keeping this service forever and would suggest not starting it. You have to send an email for them to send you a response with a link to cancel your account, when you get the link and click on it it takes you to your blue apron account but does not cancel your account it says to follow directions in the directions only say to click the link I have done this several times and they continue to charge me this company is a rip-off
The meals were weird and not the quality I expected. I could only eat a few because they were pretty bad. The price was ridiculously high and the amount of food was not enough to feed a normal size person.
They keep sending orders not asked for until you try and contest with your credit card co. And they refuse to give you credit. Once they have your account they refuse to stop. Do not give them a card no. They also are not concerned with the environment as they use excessive plastic packaging.
I order two weeks in a row, 4 meals total. My first order came (1st 2 meals), Inreceived damaged veggies and a wrong ingredient. I did contact customer service and the gave a me a small credit toward my next order. The second order came (the last 2 meals) and I received a bad potato and could not even make a full side of fries because of it. I did contact customer service but they were only going to give me a credit if I order again, which I will not. I chose the family of 4 meals, they are maybe enough for 2 people, not a family of 4. Blue apron needs to really check their quality control before things ship out.
I had some issues and customer service was great and responsive. I only got a few weeks worth and was happy with the product. I have no complaints and actually would recommend the company due to their great customer service.
4 weeks into Blue apron, I like the meals very tasty, so I'm a fan and recommend to friends. It's a touch pricey but because I like it it is worth it. I have noticed the steak or red meals are not as good as others. Tonight I have the Fajitas and was very disappointed. I expect the beef/meat to be as good as the everything else... but, it's not! More like high grade beef jerky. I want people to know so that they explore options. C'mon, you have me as a customer, please don; t slip crap to me! Fed to my dog and cat (who loved it) You have a good thing here, but I predict your a demise for your firm... others will do it and better. You want all of my money for food and I expect to be all of your food. You're in the food business! It should all be good. If I want beef jerky, I will go to 7-11.
From now on I will critique your food to my friends and warn them about inconsistency of the quality!
I received blue Apron as a wedding gift. I was very excited to try it out. The thought of fresh ingredients ready to cook delivered to my door with a recipe was very appealing. Opening the box I was extremely impressed. The ingredients were fresh and very organized. However, what I thought would help me spend less time in the kitchen I ended up spending 4 times as much. The recipes are way too complex and use strange ingredients that are more of an acquired taste. You get to choose what is delivered each week but you only get to choose from a handful of ingredients. My first delivery I hated every recipe so my second delivery I made my own meals out of the ingredients. But I spent over an hour just prepping the vegetables. Would be way more awesome if the ingredients came prepped and ready to cook. Again cool idea but I spent way too much time in the kitchen for dinners I hated.
I received a week of meals and although the recipes were simple to follow and they tasted good enough the problem for me was every single recipe required that the protein (chicken or beef) was fried in 2 tablespoons of oil. I don't eat fried foods. Most of what I eat is baked, broiled or barbecued. So this was a problem. One recipe had me fry everything, proteins and veggies. It called for a total of 6 tablespoons of oil over all. So for that reason, until they come up with recipes that aren't fried I've cancelled the plan.
A friend gave me an offer to try some free meals - it sounded like a good idea and I was signing up with the intent to continue the service, but when I went to sign up, the website wouldn't take my address or city. The only response I got was to change my browser to Google Chrome. They had absolutely no way to add the information manually. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told it wouldn't make a difference, the supervisor wouldn't have any other idea how to help me. Business must be good - Eric, the service rep, wasn't too concerned about losing my business.
I cancelled my membership in sept.
They delivered a box to my old address yesterday. When I saw the delivery notice come through I called them immediately to let them know I had moved. I also asked for my account to not be charged. They said they would be charging my account.
I tried twice to get this resolved.
BUYES BEWARE.
First let me start by saying I love trying new things. I have eaten many different things from across the world, but I am so burnt out on the stuff they send the wife. It's a great concept, but it's almost like they say "what do the warehouses have left over" and turn that into a meal. Here's my complaint. Tonight was going to be home made chicken pot pie. Yummy right? Nope blue apron came in and now we are having ginger goobely gop with Brown kale gravy and African grass seeds. If it wasn't for the price of a good lawyer I would tell her to shove that crap. Blue apron do me a favor and please, please accidentally forget to ship to my house so I can have something normal like meatloaf or Brussels sprouts.
Answer: This seems to be Blue Apron's way of holding up a (false, pseudo) customer base for purpose of over-inflating their numbers for investors.
Answer: Hello. You do not know what time the box will arrive, just which day, and you pick which day you want it. I have never had anything spoiled or overheated in our box; there are "ice packets" in it. So as far as choice of meals... when you first sign up you can make choices about things you don't want. We selected no seafood and no walnuts. I wouldn't go crazy opting out of stuff; you can imagine that takes away so many options for delicious recipes. If you have a lot of special food needs, I don't think a meal service is for you. Anyway, we get our box on Tuesdays and on Monday I receive an email saying my box is on its way and what recipes are in it. That email also tells you what's coming for the next week. You can change your recipes up to a few days ahead, which might be convenient if you are worried about what you are getting. You can also go online and see many weeks out and change any of those too. I will say this though, if you are picky picky and not open minded about trying new recipes, I don't know if you should sign up. Blue Apron's recipes are very unique and have a lot of ethnic flavor profiles and spices and things like that; but they have all been great, again, if you want to have fun and try new things. There have been a couple where we thought maybe we should change that, maybe we won't like it, but we didn't and just went ahead and tried it and we have not regretted it once. You can see more on the review I posted.
Answer: They DEFINITELY hide the "cancel" button - I had to email them to find it, and they said "you can always just pause your deliveries!" but you have to hand click each week you want paused, and you can only go a few weeks out. If you do that and forget, deliveries will start up again automatically. It felt very sneaky.
