Beware of this online luxury products website. It is not subject to the laws of the U.S.A. And therefore you are not protected by the Better Business Bureau. I purchased a handbag on the site and when it arrived, the color was not as the photo had showed. I attempted to return the handbag and they refused to accept it back. Even after sending them photos of the actual color of the bag, they simply refused.
Listed and sold a phenomenal pair of vintage Salvatore Ferragamo leather boots. I sent them to the quality control department and got a message saying that the boots had a loose heel (totally false!) and were not in as good of condition as I described them to be. They insisted that I lower the price of the boots by nearly half to sell them to the buyer. I reluctantly agreed, then they said the buyer didn't want the boots any longer and they were going to send them back to me. Next, I sold a gorgeous patent leather Salvatore Ferragamo vintage handbag. Well, I got an email making me a lowball offer on the bag, which I decided to accept. I was then told the bag sold and that I could print a shipping label and send it to them. I printed the label sent it to them and then a week or so later, I was looking at the items I had for sale and I saw that the bag was still listed as available for sale, and that it had not been sold. I was puzzled, so I contacted their customer service department and was told that the bag had not sold. I asked them why they told me the bag was sold if it wasn't and why they told me to ship it if it hadn't been sold and they just said they could send it back to me if I wanted them to. I was totally dismayed and puzzled as to why they did this. It's made me feel very uneasy about selling on this site.
Their quality control is horrible. They sold me a designer jacket that was not in "very good condition" as described -- It actually has sweat stains! Their customer service told me that I could not return it, but could resell it on their site and that they would not take any commission. Are you serious? Sell someone else this rag? The process of inquiring and complaining has also been incredibly time consuming and irksome. I will no longer do business with them. Appalling. Avoid this company.
Ladies, Stay FAR AND AWAY from them and their website. Not only all my 5 purchases on different times have been a complete joke, but they keet covering their faults, calling you names, hanging me up. Their quality control are shameful, they let items pass when they should've been returned immediately to the seller because of a misrepresentation, items that were described in fact in new condition in their description arrived in fair deplorable condition. Plus I had to pay duty fees every single time. They don't have true authenticators and if they do they don't know the difference between a LV never full replica and an authentic one. I just told them to screw themselves at the end and I closed my account without looking back. Fortunately I got rid of those bags and made a small profit stating their true condition but I would be in complete devastation if I were keeping those crappy bags. Also, 30 days to get your item if the seller decide no to send it in a reasonable time, really? 30% of commission... total rip off. Don't Believe what vogue says, they own the company.
The Worst...
Hey, if you like wasting $560 for a pair of Louboutin heels that you can't wear because they're too big for you & you can't return them & get a proper fitting paid & they offer to let you sell them back & they list them for $100 less than what you paid & they plan on taking a $32 fee out of whatever you do eventually get for them but then no one is buying them or they are offering a ridiculously low amount so it's not even worth it to sell them back then this might be the company for you! As for me, I will NEVER spend another dollar on this BS website. They have lost me as a customer forever due to having only one experience with them which has cost me a lot of money, time & not even getting a product I can actually wear that I am now stuck with. Thanks Vestaire... you suck. I had way better luck with Tradesy.
Of the 4 things I ordered, 3 were cancelled due to the seller not responding. They did give me a refund as stated after the 30 days, but the point of making a purchase is to actually get the things you paid for! I'm also counting on those items and not buying them on other sites. Unlike Ebay and other sites, they don't seem to hold the seller responsible at all for holding up their end of the deal. Just an "oops, sorry, we never heard back from the seller." I can't trust that I ever get anything I buy from Vestiaire Collective, and I am never shopping with them again. This may be the worst site I've shopped at.
I paid $800 for a vintage Jean Patou jacket that I was told was in perfect condition, no flaws. The "quality control" employee accepted the order and sent it to me. It arrived with several holes, many stains, and a metal pin through the front leaving more holes, and it smelled of smoke.
I sent an email to Vestiaire complaining they allowed a seller to scam me and I was told they don't offer refunds but I can relist the jacket and attempt to resell it- in other words make this junk jacket someone else's problem if I am even lucky enough to ever sell it.
What a blatant scam. I informed them I will not longer be purchasing from their site.
*** I wanted to add this update: I had also purchased a beaded and sequin leather dress that was suppose to be in perfect condition but arrived with many missing beads and sequins. Took months to get someone to repair it. I also purchased a Gianni versace dress for full price, was told by quality control that there were white spots on the dress and offered me no compensation on reduction of price- but when the dress arrived they were actually bleach spots that can not be fixed, not white spots that can be washed or dry cleaned out. I also purchase a wool Galliano skirt in perfect condition, and it arrived with a slash in the butt that I had to pay $65 to a professional re-weaver to mend. I purchased a Versace leather dress in perfect condition but arrived with cuts, rubs and marks all over the leather. I purchased a Mugler dress in perfect condition and it arrived with light areas on a black dress, so very noticeable.
I just repaired the items and was grateful for them. The Jean Patou jacket was the last straw. It is so old it can not be cleaned and repaired, so its trash to me.
What good is "quality control" if they don't actually care about quality in the least?
If you are going to purchase from this site, you may consider asking Paypal if they will help you recover your money from Vestiaire if they attempt to defraud you.
I have paid for an item and cancel my order because it has soglt to an other very disappointe keep away from the home page
I decided to sell a designer bag and jacket on vestaire collective for the first time. The process takes ages but they accepted the items and reading through their info I noticed that their vip customers get first pick before releasing to the rest of the site.
The jacket was new stored in pristine condition beautifully styled and current so I was really surprised when vestaire didn't want to accept my already very low asking price and suggested their own price before they would list it. I thought it was odd as other jackets in the same brand but worn and slightly dated were selling for three to four times the price suggested to me but as a new seller I agreed.
Within 10 minutes of the listing going live I had a question asking me incredulously if the jacket was real leather so I added a picture of the content label went to grab a coffee then checked my email, the jacket had sold.
I was not happy somebody else had seen the picture and beaten the other person to it but to me the jacket was way under priced at £40 and that's why it went in a flash. I felt like a sacrificial lamb to keep the VIP's happy and justify their vip service charge as a newbie eager to please. Vestaire can go whistle I'll use another site or donate to charity rather than be used. Oh and I refuse to pay anyone 30% ever again for basically not a lot.
DO NOT buy anything from this company. They claim their quality control checks condition of items NOT TRUE they sent me a shoddy second hand stained item and will not accept a return. Once they have your money they have no intention of accepting returns even though I have photos to prove it arrived in poor condition
Unlike many of the VC reviews I have read about the poor quality of the item purchased, I was lucky my jacket arrived looking as good as presented on the website when I ordered it - and it appears to be an authentic St. John jacket.
So why only 2 stars: I do not like VC's order and delivery process:
1) VC charges $40 to authenticate the item purchased
2) It took 3 weeks to receive the item. I have purchased items from the UK in the past and the longest I have waited to receive an item was 8 days
3) The item arrived in a plastic bag, wrinkled, not even wrapped in tissue paper - with no packing slip or order documentation.
I purchase from online second-hand stores like theRealReal, Portero, and eBay all the time and this is the first time I felt like a resale company doesn't care about their customers. I expected better & faster service for the $40 authentication fee added on to the $200 I paid for the jacket.
Just horrible, horrible, horrible experience with vestiaire collective. Do not ever use it - they are crooks! They advertised a dior bag with rinestones as in good conditions with all rinestones in place (i specifically asked whether they were all in place). When i received the bag, the more than half rinestones were missing! They are refusing to give me the money back though i did send the bag back to them! Just scam!
Terrible terrible terrible! A good idea but doesn't work in practice, zero customer service, no real people, send emails, ignored, nobody takes ownership of a problem, half of links on site do not work, I would NEVER sell anything through them the commission is astronomical about 30% and they do nothing for that... My worst ever E commerce experience, just a huge headache. AVOID
For all the glitz and glamour of designer clothing bargains this site should be fantastic.
But it is not, there is zero customer service, if you send an email in then it will be ignored never answered as for phoning why bother it will not be answered, the red tape and hoops to jump through just to get your bought your newly payed for owned clothing to the post office, just dire.
This is possibly the most awful e-retail experience I have ever had in 13 years online.
Avoid.
My buying experience was so bad I will never use this company again does not matter what the bargain is. If I can I will sue the living daylights out of them for breach of there own T&C's.
Answer: There are a lot of honest sellers and buyers there (I consider myself one of them) but if anything goes wrong, Vestiaire will do nothing to help, they will spam you with auto replies
Answer: This exact thing happened to me. Completely different top than what was posted. And it still passed their "inspection". I am still fighting with them to no avail. Good luck.
