I've been shopping through this site for years now. I don't buy a ton of clothes but I do allow myself a splurge maybe once or twice a year if I can afford it, and I pretty much always get my stuff from here. They have some pretty good sales and I utilize their coupon offers because a lot of the clothing is a little expensive for my wallet. I do tend to buy a lot at one time and if anything doesn't fit or isn't to my liking their return policy is quick and easy. Clothing generally arrives within a few days of my order which I LOVE, and unless it's marked final purchase they are willing to accept returns no questions asked. Customer service is based in the US and in my experience they have always been polite and super helpful. A few times I've missed the return window and I've been able to resell items, sometimes for more than I paid (thank you coupons!) on Poshmark so I love that. Everything I've ever purchased from them has been excellent quality, and when I say quality I mean real rhinestones instead of just printed gems on fabric, real embroidery instead of just printed embroidery, etc, things you don't get that much any more, at least not without a designer label attached. Not to mention they don't fall apart after one or two wears so I'm willing to spend a little more just for the consistent quality. There are pieces I bought 3 or 4 years ago that I still wear on a regular basis. When it comes to online retailers this is one I highly recommend. Also, they offer some really striking and unique statement pieces that you can't find elsewhere without paying an arm and a leg for them. Again, keep an eye out for the discount codes, when they have their 50% off sales I'm stocking tf up. I'm not a fan of buying cheap fast fashion just to wear once, and everything I've gotten here has really held up to the test of time. I legit love this company, they have really done right by me. I'm almost 40 years old and they keep me feeling fresh and fashionable without breaking the bank or looking cheap. 10/10 highly recommend.

These are the real reviews from Akira customers. They have the worse customer service in America. I traveled to another state to return a jacket and just get the right size. They would not let me. The customer service on the phone was just as horrible. Warning do not shop online cause if it doesn't fit you can't do anything about it and if you go to the store your going to be charged more. They will not work with you buy any means. Do not shop here please I'm warning you. Me and all my friends have stopped.

I ordered a coat from Akira in January however I got it shipped to their Hyde Park Location I picked it up on 3.25.2024 mind you the rep said i could pick it up and return it back now their saying I can't because it's past 30 days so never mind the coats material is bs and it sheds its brand new not worn tags attached but I can't return it and not even get a gift card or store credit so I'm out of $120 for a horrible quality of a coat I'll never ship their again

Customer service is horrible it don’t matter the quality it’s basically $#*! the customer they have no courtesy

Such bad service, bought one item that was too large and they would not let me exchange the item for the correct size! I've never heard of anything like it. Will never order again unless I know for sure the size I wear. And there's no way to really know because everything fits differently. Now I'm stuck with items I can't even fit. This company has absolutely no consideration for customers and does not care about anything but money. They just lost a customer. The rewards program is also a scam.

I had high hopes when I discovered AKIRA as a place to shop, but unfortunately, my experience turned out to be quite risky. The fact that they rely on UPS for shipping in Hodgkins, Illinois (you can check the Google reviews) is a major concern. It seems that they are almost guaranteed to mishandle or even "lose" your packages.

What's even more disheartening is AKIRA's lack of willingness to assist and their robotic, scripted responses. As someone who values good customer service, I couldn't help but feel let down. It's essential for businesses to go above and beyond to address customer concerns and provide a satisfactory user experience. AKIRA needs to reconsider their partnership with UPS and implement better customer service policies to meet customers' expectations.

Don't online shop at this place. I have had the worst experience. I placed an order on November 8th and never received it. It's showing as still being shipped for two weeks now with no movement. The customer is terrible.

The quality and style of the clothes sold on the Akira website are amazing! So I'll start with that because that's literally the only positive thing I have to say.

Now, why I am completely done with shopping on this site ever again… because I don't care HOW cute the clothes are, the frustration that goes along with shopping on this site isn't worth it at all. In this day and age, you can get cute clothes literally anywhere, so I'll never be shopping on this site again.

Let's just start off with the website itself. Every single step you try to take on this website takes at least 15 and sometimes up to 30 seconds. Literally. Want to remove some thing from your cart? Expect it to take at least 15 to 20 seconds. Want to add something to your wish list? Same thing. Change the quantity of an item in your cart? Same deal. Add an item to the cart? Yep, you guessed it. They sent out these great coupons and there are multiple times. I have spent hours and hours adding things to my cart and then trying to edit the cart and literally it taking me down to the wire for where the coupon is going to expire and I end up wasting so much time because I end up losing out on the coupon code! Twice it has happened to me where about an hour before the coupon is going to expire. I go to try and edit my cart a little bit and it ends up taking the entire hour… After spending hours building that cart… Only to have the website constantly glitch and then the clock hits the time the coupon expires and it's no longer valid. This has happened to me twice, both times with huge orders that took me hours to put together because of the slow website. And then when I went to go to my cart, some of the things were out of stock, so I had to remove them, which took an exorbitantly ridiculous amount of time. And then I decide to remove some things on my own and end up missing the coupon entirely. It is beyond frustrating. And exhausting! Who wants to spend hours adding things to a cart and editing a cart?! I did it because of the promise of a great deal, only to be completely disappointed on the website glitched during my order right at the time the coupon code was expiring. It didn't matter that I had placed the order before it expired and it glitched. The fact that I got it to go through afterwards only to hear the coupon code is now invalid, 30 seconds after it expired made me literally throw my iPad across the room.

And don't even bother trying to reach out to customer service. They are not helpful at ALL and will tell you they can't honor the coupon no matter what happens but can somehow generate a 20% off code for your trouble. I'm sorry, when I am frustrated at a problem that happened with a 50% off coupon, I'm not interested in 20% off!

Oh, you can't exchange anything since they dont offer and if you use any coupons or sales, it becomes final sale. And if you are able to return some thing, do you have to pay nine dollars to return it? Most things are not true to size, so good luck with your pile of goods that may or may not fit. I've lost hundreds of dollars because of this policy, so maybe it's actually better off that my $1400 order didn't go through just now and I missed the coupon code entirely. Maybe that was a divine sign. It happened to me once before with a $2500 order. I am completely done with Akira. I highly suggest you don't even get sucked into the extremely frustrating abyss of this website.

The fact that they have such amazing clothes is just a tease because the horribly frustrating experience of this website is not worth it.

I bought a coat and the coat was to small. I was trying to return it and use their return slip but could not print it out. Emailed them they sent it to me by email but still could not download it. If you call them your on the phone for hours and still don't get anyone. Then you leave your number so you can get a call back and they still never get a call back. When you email them they say they are sorry but they have a high volume of phone calls. I sent the coat back on the 1st they received it on the 6th but they still have not returned the money or gotten back intouch with me. I will never buy off line again.

My gut tells me that every 5 star review on here is sponsored by Akira. There are too many reviews describing experiences of never receiving goods and probably having to contact your credit card company to reverse the charge. Buyer beware, some things are too good to be true!

I purchases a dress for a friend's wedding. I wore the dress once and it ripped without 20mins of wearing it (it was chainmail) so, it was the structure of the dress.

Was told I would get a 20% off code...

TRUST ALL THE REVIEWS. This place is a total scam. I would suggest using credit cards or PayPal if you want to buy stuff (they have fraud protection so there's a good chance to claim back your money). But overall, dont buy from this business.

I ordered a top online and it never arrived. The tracking info said that it had been delivered, but I was home all day that day, and we received no packages. When I tried to contact customer service I was put on hold for an extended period of time and hung up on more than once. I tried emailing on multiple occasions, no response. I used the chat feature and the representatives were wildly unhelpful. I had to start a new chat multiple times due to the representatives ending the chat before my questions had been answered. I was told I'd receive an email with a form to fill out regarding a refund, and I never received it. Each of the representatives ended the chat before my questions were answered, and eventually they turned off their phone line and chat. This company is 110% a scam. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

Absolutely do not ever order from here you will not receive your order and you won’t get your money back either

I really appreciate its clothing lines and helpful people in the stores. As I enjoy gender-fluid clothing, they are respectful of that. Some of the help (aside from those that were self-absorbed) were really helpful, esp at the Skokie store.

But the on-line experience is extremely frustrating and poor. What I list here shows a pattern of corporate indifference and, likely, greed. Also, some experiences suggest Corporate uses negative cultural stereotypes (see Part 2, below).

Part 1: Problems with their website:

1. Very poor phone service. Today, after being on hold for a while, I choose the call-back feature. Hours later, they never called back. Also, you cannot call an individual store. Typically, no employee picks up and you're shunted to a worthless central phone.

2. They don't listen. Over a year ago, I made a careful and time-consuming list of website problems (I am a former programmer) that I made to HELP THEN. But they never even responded. After more than a year, same crappy website.

3. Software lost my accrued loyalty dollars and my list of previous purchases (I am a very good cu$tomer). Then, they lowered the value of the loyalty dollars and applied that retrospectively to dollars I earned prior to the devaluation.

4. Non-functional "wish list". I had over 50 items in my wish list, but faulty software programming only shows about 8 of them. Same problem on a desktop, multiple browsers, and my phone. And after clearing caches. I've complained multiple times, no help.

5. Reduced customer service. One used to be able to have purchased items held at a store for pick-up. They got rid of that. And as noted, you can't phone individual stores (essential for seeing if they have an item of interest).

6. Website lacks most standard features seen on other sites:
A. No ability to apply multiple filters, just "clothing type" and "size". No color choices, no specifics of clothing styles or cuts, etc.
B. No ability to sort by price or range of prices. Just a lame-o filter of products of at some fixed prices and all items below that choose price.

Part 2: A corporate culture of insulting clients. It must be corporate requirement to play a single play-list of songs, several vulgar (one used F*** about every other word). I go to multiple stores: The same awful playlist. This is an INSULT to patrons, with an assumption that this is attractive. That is awful stereotyping and should be stopped years ago. Several store employees have also mentioned that it's awful.
Along that same line, why selling clothing with vulgarity and anti-social messages?

Akira, before you get upset with this review, I repeatedly tried to keep my concerns limited to your reps.

When placing an order they do not tell you that returns must be done via mail if you want a full refund. I brought the shoes back to the store & a very unfriendly sales person told me I could only get store credit. I went out of my way to go to the store & not even a smile, hello, sorry for the inconvenience. Their sizing is so off. I ordered my usual size 7 shoe and both feet could have fit in there. Before placing order it was offering me a 20% discount but when I went to check out it wouldn't take it. They sent me a 20% off my next order. There will never, ever be a next order. Corporate take note, your sales people are representing you, and not well. Garden State Plaza 10/2/23 11:30am.

I just spent over an hour trying to complete an online order and it will not complete the order! So frustrating. Really wanted the item but at this point I have no clue if I'm being charged for the 5 times I tried to enter it nor was I given any message of what any error may be. Ugh!

First time trying to order from this company and was promised %10 off for becoming a first time member. Never got the 10% discount but ordered it anyway. Called customer service and the girl was rude and unprofessional.Explained my issue and she said to send her proof of sign up so I did. She then canceled my order. This company is horrible! When I emailed them and got no response, called and just another rude service person that couldn't do anything for me.

I am an a customer based in the UK and contact Akira The couture to place an order for an upcoming event. I contact them nearly three weeks before the event and also asked them to confirm whether my order could be delivered before the event date ( 7th October). Suji, who seems to be the order said Yes. That she will be able to meet this requirement and shared her personal bank details ( not the business one) for me to transfer the money. My order has still not been delivered. The customer service is very poor. I asked for a refund as the order had not reached in time and they have simply ignore my ignore and keep replying that the order will reach. They have not shared any tracking details. They have simply just taken my money and not provided any goods.

I received a text advising me of a VIP sale this weekend…50% off with the discount code FLASH, Ive tried numerous times and the response is that the code is not valid. I like Akira however their website is very difficult to navigate. I have no idea which items qualify for the discount. There are times i just give up becsuse you can spend hours searching and it seems as if you can never reach the end and then when you do the discount codes do not work. Last month I was in Chicago and i decided to visit the store…another awful experience. I had to spend time searching the website to check and see if the prices were cheaper on line. If they were they would honor the price, however they offer better discounts on line. I would not recommend anyone shop at the actual store. Actually, im almost at the point of giving up shopping online.

I ordered some red, black and white knee boots from Akira about a week ago. I needed these boots for this. Saturday 1/6/24. Okay the order comes in a timely manner I was pleased with that. So I open the box and I loved my fur trench coat. I go to open the box for my boots and it was completely different boot in the wrong box. I was like how could this have happened. I immediately called Akira Customer Support number they wjhere closed of course because I live in CA and they are on CT time zone. The. Next day they were open New Years Eve I was happy to have. Gotten a live person. The lady was nice and she was apologetic about the situation. I had already emailed them the picture of the boot that they sent me and the box. The boots were still available online at the time when I had spoken to customer support. She told me she had to reach out to the fulfillment team so they could investigate why was the wrong boot put in the right box and maybe by the end of Sunday somebody would be getting back to me and that they would overnight me the right boot. I get an email that same day saying they are sorry they are completely sold out the boot and that they offer men 20% discount code and they will send me a return shipping label for the wrong boot that I have, Like really 20% that's nothing. I ordered this boot in a timely manner and they couldn't even say ooh we have this other boot nothing. I will never ever order anything from this website. The clothes are cute but that was some bull$#*!. This messed ups my whole outfit for Saturday. I am still mad.

For a first time purchaser I shouldn't be feeling this. I had to order some boots from a different clothing website and this was all wrong if there fulfillment team was doing there job I would be a happy customer right now

I buy at least two pairs of shoes twice a month more than I should but after this experience I probably won't buy any more I called last Thursday about my package that I didn't receive and the young lady was so damn Rude on the phone I'm not waiting no more 24-48 hours to report a claim. All I want is my money back, y'all quick to take it but very slow on wanted to give it back.

While the store maybe great, the online shopping experience is AWEFUL. The clothing is way different and many styles are not true to size. I received a defective item. Was able to return it but they still deduct shipping. That is very poor business practices. When you ask to speak to a supervisor they can not transfer and ask to send email. Well they don't return calls. Never will I order from them again.

I ordered my items and paid $18 for 2 day shipping so I can get my items in time for my fiance's funeral and I couldn't get in touch with anyone and my order was still being processed. Very unfortunate. I order from them very often but never needed rush services until now and I am very saddened by this
