I had a car accident recently. It was not my fault. It was the other driver's fault. She bought her auto insurance from USAA. So I claimed the accident with USAA. They didn't contact the other driver for this accident in two weeks. Even though they assigned this claim to a specific guy (adjuster), it was very hard to contact this guy. They never answered my email messages. Every time a different adjuster answered my call and everyone gave me a different story. They promised they would pay the rent. But finally, they refused to pay the rent and enforced me to pay the rent. Their service was pure garbage and it was a nightmare to deal with USAA. USAA should get a ZERO star for their services!
Deserve 0 stars. DO NOT get a mortgage loan through usaa. Stay way! This company has inexperienced staff will give you a runaround. Total nightmare! This company preapproved us for a loan. Had us pay for a inspection, appraisal & title! Get all the way to the end to review for closing and then denied us! Are you freaking kidding me! Who the hell does that! Oh, and they raised our percentage on our loan. My realtor couldn't believe how high our rate was considering it was a VA app. We waisted so much time and money with this company. Never again! I will tell the mountain tops about the mistrust & incompetence of usaa. Stay away! Trust me you will be doing yourself a huge favor by going elsewhere
This may have been true in the past. I had been with USAA for almost 20 years with only 3 major claims (and none on the 3 homes I have owned with their home owner's insurance. I was involved in a hit and run at the hospital I worked at (happens at least monthly to all of us). The investigator came a week and a half later to ask what parking spot I was in and I told them what I thought (who can remember in a HUGE lot even the same day!). The one camera on a shed happened to show only that exact spot and turns out I was wrong. The investigator also went to my auto repair shop and told the manager he thought I was, "making up stories." VERY unprofessional. The auto shop called me and told me they thought it looked like classic hit in a parking lot. They told me that USAA has been very problematic to death with in recent years. Also my EDR showed NO crashes which USAA could not explain how this damage would have happened if I was not in motion and hit something causing this much damage. I tried to get ahold of my investigator who told me he would return calls and did not (I had important additional info). They apologized for the way it was handled but did nothing because they had closed the case. Then they canceled my plan. I received NO letter just a check with a remaining monthly balance so I called and the girl took 10 minutes to figure out why. She then told me it would be cancelled in 5 days. I told her I never received a letter and then received one 3 days later with a BACKDATED letter (was stamped to mail out 5 days after letter date). When I tried to log on to my USAA it told me my access has been restricted. I still have a home owner's plan with them and all the legal back and forth communication is now restricted to me. Then they sent a letter telling me I still have to pay $865 for my next premium of 6 months regardless of cancellation. I've never been as stressed or had to deal with with a company I've trusted for so long like this. It's actually unbelievable. DO NOT get USAA.
This is the worst banking experience I have ever had, I entrusted USAA with my banking as a prior service member, believing all of the hype on television, unfortunately my experience was much different, I had insurance products which overall we priced well until details were compared with other products the prices are lower, but in reality you could be under insured, and to bring it up to a level of a competitive product the price will be higher.
My biggest mistake was entrusting my investments with USAA, recently they sold this off to Charles Schwab, leaving all of the managed accounts to be totally ravaged by the sell of because prior to completing this deal they moved the bulk of the money into USAA mutual funds which, and this is speculation, they would get more money from these investments then other mutual funds. What little they did do, only increased the losses buy funds, and then selling them at a loss a week later.
USAA has one a few things that are great such as reimbursed ATM fees, and waving wire fees (sometimes) otherwise I found that I lost way more than I gained from this financial institution at it so difficult to change banks that this experience has been a nightmare, all you service people please beware, they are not there to serve you they are looking for market share of your money.
We have a claim against USAA Auto... Three of their agents told us that if we would supply measurements showing our front end is not narrower than our side fenders ( where the damage occurred) they would reopen the claim and review the evidence. They contend that their clients door was open and we ran into it... we claim she opened the door as we drove past. Our evidence is there is NO Damage to our front end! They then claimed that our front end is narrower than the side fenders as to why we have no front end damage. Heather Pace, Wesley Pate and a Victoria all said this. The last two said they would instruct their repair facility to take those measurement. Our first visit, they had NO instructions and just did a repair estimate. Victoria then said she would give precise instructions... our second visit they only had instructions to measure the side fender width. Our last call to USAA. A Ursula, stated right out that we shouldn't bother ourselves because they had NO INTENTION of looking at any evidence that would prove their client responsible and to basically... SUE US! They lied to us repeatedly and strung us along with those lies hoping we would just go away. So now, to take them to court, our insurance company says we have to fix the vehicle ourselves and then they will try to recover the money. We can't afford to fix someone else's damage!
USAA makes it impossible to log in to your own account. It doesn't matter if you have your User Name, Password, 4 digit pin, social security number, credit card, birth date, drivers License, You CANNOT get into the account and they'll have you resetting your password almost every single time and or giving you temporary password, Pin, and or ten different lines of SCHIFF every time. Makes doing any business with them impossible and or very hard. I don't have this hard a time with any other company I can think of except USAA. Tech support agents are RUDE, Condescending, and Smart Mouthed...
I recently enrolled into USAA. I opened a savings account and moved several thousand into that account. I talked to a financial adviser and created an IRA into which to rollover my 401k. I then initiated the rollover, which hadn't occurred at the time that this happened.
This morning I attempted to login and found that I was locked out. I contacted support and after MANY handoffs I learned that USAA has decided that I was doing something fraudulent. They will do no business with me, and they won't explain the decision. And there is no way to have them reconsider that decision. They closed all accounts and restricted all access.
So now I have 10,000 in a savings account that I can't reach and I had a rollover started into this IRA. Fortunately I was able to cancel the rollover. What a nightmare this would have been had the rollover been done.
When they decided to cancel my account they made no effort to reach out to me. What a mess!
They told me on the phone that it was not possible to tell me why they think I am doing something fraudulent. Everything I told them was 100% truthful.
Also, their web software is extremely buggy. I attempted three separate operations online on three separate days. All three operations failed due to buggy software (becoming a member, opening savings account, changing profile). I kept encountering pages in which the "Next" button would not work. All three operations had to be done via phone. I complained about the terrible software and think that my complaints may have prompted my problems.
Was on the phone many times and spent most of that time listening to their USAA jingle.
I strongly suggest that you avoid USAA. This was my biggest mistake in many years.
Facts:
I have been a USAA customer since 1996. At that time, I was on active duty. Now, 23 years later we had to submit a home owners insurance claim for hail damage. The hail storm severely damaged my roof and gutters. We had an estimate done by a local contractor and we submitted it to USAA. We called USAA for a status check; instant attitude. They sent a third-party adjuster from Manassas Virginia to our home to verify damage. You guessed it; attitude. He said to my face we are trying to get a free new roof on USAA's dime. (Go back 20 years ago and he would have needed dental surgery after that comment to me).
To condense this story down, USAA refused to cover any damage to my roof and/or gutters. We argued back and forth with them for weeks. We ended up having to pay out of pocket for all the damage. Note other homes in our neighborhood with much better insurance were covered 100%.
Thanks USAA for valuing your long-term customers so well. I'd love to know how much money those clowns have made from my loyalty of 23 years. They refused to help me with 1 claim. Please look for other insurance and banking options. These SOB's are no longer worth the hassle.
AS A HOMEBOUND DISABLED VETERAN USAA HAS STOLEN MORE MONEY FROM ME FOR NO REASON THEN ANY OTHER BANK OR COMPANY IN MY WHOLE LIFE AND ALL THEY EVER SAY IS SORRY THEY WILL DO BETTER NEXT TIME BUT THEY DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN! FROM COMPUTER PROBLEMS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY HAPPEN TO PAYING THE WRONG BILLS USAA IS NOT THE BANK FOR ANYONE LET ALONE SOMEONE LIKE ME A DISABLED VETERAN WITH VERY LITTLE MONEY TO SPEND LET ALONE TO BE STOLEN BY THEIR BANK! IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY TAKEN AND NO SERVICE GIVEN THEN USAA IS YOUR BANK!
The diminution in value claim review resulted in a an assessment of my loss
Equal to $1176 provided to me on the 25 September 2019. I strongly disagree
With this assessment.
1. The foremost factor is that my vehicle has an accident on its title,
Before the accident it had a clear title.
2. My vehicle is an electric vehicle that has a lithium-ion battery in the
Rear portion of the car, where the impact took place. One of the service
Professionals at Brown's Toyota told me that after such an accident the
Battery's life cycle reduces dramatically.
3. Carmax has appraised my vehicle at $*******. Additionally, 2017 Toyota
Prius Prime Premium with similar mileage and most importantly a clear title
Costs $*******. This vehicle is available within 50 miles from my home.
4. The original USAA representative, who I talked to at the time of the
Accident, assured me that my vehicle will be restored to the original
Condition that it was in prior to the accident. I want a vehicle with a
Clear title and I would have to incur additional expenses such as 6%
Maryland sales tax, $299 dealer fees, and approximately $329 MVA
Registration fees.
5. The numbers indicate that the loss in value that I have incurred is equal
To: $******* - $******* + 6% MD tax + $299 + $329 = (approximately) $5925. 88.
A year ago USAA sold the investment business after saying that they would not.
Do you know anything about USAA selling the bank division?
Please email me at *******@yahoo.com
My daughter was rear-ended March 2019. July 2019 USAA agent finally tells my daughter the other person's insurance company denied our claim and that my daughter has to pay the deductible and then they will try to get it back. Other person claimed my daughter switched lanes, which she didn't and says so in the police report. Rather than believing my daughter and the police report, they side with the other driver. I am done with USAA and will take my home and auto business elsewhere. They spend a lot of money on commercials acting like they care about vets, when the only thing they really care about is the almighty buck... sad.
I have been with them for over 20 years and I am done. Terrible customer service. Weird changes to deposits- holding your deposits for 7 days - and you can't access your funds. When did this start? And their customer service is a call center with people reading scripts. You cannot get help. They went from a 10 to a 2.
I was selling a piece of furniture on 1 of those apps that allow you to do so locally. I was contacted by a person not in the area about having someone pick it up for him. He sent me a check for over a $1000 more than the agreed price. He asked me to deposit the check & wire him the balance. I deposited the check with USAA & called to make sure I could draw on the check & was assured that it would be no problem. It was the problem. I wired the $$ and USAA contacted me that the check was no good. I was out the $$. USAA basically told me it was my problem & should have known better. They were right I should have known better, but I had relied on their informing me to draw on the check.
I called to just get a quote. I had my policies in front of me, plus I'm a licensed insurance agent. I had been with my previous carrier for 25 years. They are no longer on my side! I have checked their rates in the past and it was less than $100 a year difference and never pulled the trigger. Well the auto went up and I had to have the policy re-written to get some new discounts. Then a couple of months later my homeowner policy renewed. It was outrageous and the no longer had standalone Inland Marine policies. It was being endorsed to the homeowner policy. I don't like that because if you have an Inland Marine claim and it's endorsed on your homeowner, it will count as a frequency. So, I called USAA one morning and got quotes. Compared each policy limits to compare apple to apple then discussed changes in various limits. I decided then and there I was switching. They issued the policies, walked me through everything. Why did I wait so long? My monthly premium auto pay is less then what it was with the previous company and they are taking it out 5-months on the auto and 11-months on home and VPP (inland marine). Also, you can call 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning if you have a question. The previous company had a recording and when you to speak with someone, you have to call your agent. My agent is never there. Cost is very important but so is service. USAA offers both.
I just opened an account with USAA in march. I have had nothing from problems from them. We were thinking about switching our banks from SECU, thank God we didnt! Customer service reps are untrained and rude! Majority of them do not know what they are talking about, and give out mix information. Oh whatever you do please do not use the transfer feature from bank to bank. Insurance is also $#*!ty. We paid our insurance on 6/23 and when calling to verify it was paid and having a rep telling us yes everything is fine. Then on 7/4 getting a letter stating that it wasnt now i owe 2 months! Also i deposited $300 in a atm and after inserting my money i got a error message and took a pic of it. Called them and informed them of what happened. They gave me a temp credit on my account. I gave them all the info on which atm i used, submitted pictures on the message, she stated she found which one i was talking about and stated it will get serviced the following Tuesday and will call me back with the results. Then 2 weeks later they called again and asked me to go to that atm and get the atm # which is like 30 min away from me, Its almost a month now and still nothing. Like i said its been problems after problems and i blame the untrained customer service teams. I have never ever had these many problems with any other bank. And i am glad i didnt switch everything over like i planned. Hopefully it gets better... but if not im closing my account and insurance with them.
Be careful trusting USAA car insurance. Or even dealing with them. They will F**k up your driving record. Not only yours, but your childrens too! They need to be investigated and need to put their workers in some kind of knowledge training so they can provide you with the right information, and not picking them up from the street corner. All they know is to F**ck you up. Dont be afraid to report them to the BBB and all the other agencies out there. They discriminate against other cultures. Dont let them fool you with their fancy words and charisma. They are hiding their wickedness inside of them. I had a terrible experience with them for car insurance. I was with them for a few years, never had an accident, and I tried to save some money to pay other bills so I asked them if I could lower my policy and they ended up terminating me by giving me the false information. They marked me with other companies so I can no longer get a descent car insurance rate. They are liars. If anyone out there has similar experience, we should all get together and try to eliminate them.

I have been a USAA member since 2004. I use them for all my banking needs and car/home insurance. It was a little difficult at first having a bank that doesnt have a local branch where I live. But as technology progresses, everything is done online. Now I can deposit checks on my phone and I can use any local ATMs to deposit/withdraw money at no cost (USAA reimburses ATM fees up to $15 per month.) Their customers service is friendly and always helpful. I highly recommend USAA!
USAA customer service isn't... it is indifferent, inept, unskilled, innocently or intentionally. I've searched the web and read other reviews of USAA beginning with the BBB site. Go to BBB and read for yourselves; amazingly uniform complaints. BBB Face page shows [25] Positive Reviews
[4] Neutral Reviews, [300] Negative Reviews, [329] Total Customer Reviews; [1,460] Total Customer Complaints. Frankly, my voice will be merely one from the chorus - USAA touts service but it's all talk,[TV ads] & no action. I'd summarize their service or lack thereof as "institutional indifference" combined with a lack of familiarity with the truth mixed together with incompetence, untrue, deceptive statements and practices seemingly designed to mislead or delay either intentionally or innocently.
Like the 10 or so other reviews on the first 3 pages of the BBB site, I'm cancelling my insurance and finding a more ethical and competent insurer. Are there any? While other insurance companies may stab you in the back, USAA stabs you in the front while saying how wonderful their service is: better the ˌdevil you ˈknow (than the devil you dont)(saying) it is better to deal with somebody/something bad, difficult, etc. [other insurance companies] that is familiar[or expected] than to perhaps have to deal with somebody/something worse [USAA]
I have no claim issues. I'm not a disgruntled insured.
I'm a simple customer with a simple problem that USAA has botched so badly USAA's picture should be next to the Urban Dictionary definition of FUBAR.
I have been a USAA member for more than 35 years. They USED to be the best at everything they did. Unfortunately, except for the insurance, they are seriously declining in quality - especially in the customer service area.
Without going into VOLUMES of information, suffice it to say that the mortgage department violated regulations related to a refinance request on my home. When I complained, not only did they not back down, but I have now been TARGETED!
Since my complaint they have blackballed me with other mortgage lenders, closed my bank accounts without notice or reason and refused even the courtesy of a response to my queries as to their reasons for these blatant abuses of a long-time loyal member.
I will keep my insurance because that is still the best option out there, but I am rapidly moving my banking and financial investment business elsewhere.
I am truly sorry that this institution which has protected and served our uniformed heroes for decades is becoming just another uncaring money-grubbing bank.
Answer: My daughter is an attorney for a company that handles the sea military forces and she told us to change because my husband is a veteran. I am so grateful we did because they have never let us down once. I saw the bad reviews and I just can't imagine them getting a bad review because they have ALWAYS been excellent with us.
Answer: It took me nearly 30 minutes on hold to cancel insurance
