Damaged Rental Van Payoff
February 25, 2023

I returned a perfectly good rental van to Budget Rental during the summer, but they damaged it sometime afterwards. It was not even a small damage: there were dents all along the driver side door, the sliding door panel, and the trunk door. It was something that would not have been missed, if I returned the van in that condition. However, Budget Rental then filed a claim with USAA in 10/2022, a full 6 months later. It was blatantly fraudulent. After what I consider useless perfunctory online investigating, USAA just decided to just pay them off, and I am stuck with a higher insurance premium. USAA is a totally different insurance company from when I joined 40 years ago. Pretty disappointing.

Serve themselves
November 16, 2022

I joined USAA in the 80's when they liked serving the military. I noticed their attitude and level of service take a noticeable shift about 11 years ago. That shift has caused me to find a better insurance company for ALL types. They have mishandled my loans so I have paid them off. I have no debt to them and so I am in search of a bank that appreciates it's members like they used to.

Was with USAA since 2007 and noticed a drastic change when they got a new Corporate leader around 2017. Gladly leaving them right now, just the worst. Pity to their employees working in such a system. Moving to Navy Fed.
Next I read that recently they got into hot water for money laundering... sheesh.

The only snag is that they quit covering motorcycles and RVs. But have a house, renter, and umbrella. Customer service has been fantastic. Also, have a credit card, checking, saings. Use to have a brokerage, but USAA discontinued that as well. With my few claims over the years, they also have been very prompt and fair.

September 29, 2019

A year ago USAA sold the investment business after saying that they would not.

When the pandamic started USAA closed their lobby banking facility. Only have drive through check cashing. Many banks initally went this route, but have since reopened their lobbies, not USAA lobbies still closed. But the closed lobby is only the start of the problem. They have six drive through lanes, but onlt TWO cashiers working the six lanes. Last week it took 48 minutes to cash a check. I have been a member of USAA for 46+years and for many many years I thought they could do no wrong, but some years ago they lost their way wanting to be a big time financial institution like Chase or god forbid Wells Fargo and they have succed but at the expense of their members. When they hooked up Victory Capital I immediately took all of my Investments out and but them in Capital Group American Funds. Smart move. My investments have never done better. Suppose I should thank USAA but I won't.

I've been with USAA insurance since February 2011 and banking since mid 2017 and after my experience and being low balled to the point I can't replace my vehicle with the exact same vehicle. It's okay cause I'm done with USAA if you have these reruns leave immediately they will have you doing their job and give you the run around now. USAA stands for Useless $#*!ty $#*!s Always I'll never use them for banking or insurance I've already switched to Chase Bank done with USAA on banking. When I get my other vehicle I'll be getting new insurance company as long as it's not USAA.

Not good anymore
July 31, 2023

USAA is riding on the shirt tails of days gone by. Customer service has gone down hill over the last few years. Insurance rates are no longer competitive. I went with another company and got slightly more coverage for a lot less. They are using their former military heritage to sucker vets.

18 Years = 0 Value
September 26, 2023

Eighteen years as a member. Zero incidents. They have raised our rates by $480. When we were hit by another driver, that took full liability, they left us stranded from 9:00 PM until after 12:00 AM. We only got home after that because we paid for our own ride. Our vehicle was left at the scene of the accident for over 18 hours before they showed up. USAA is not only not a benefit for service members (myself) and their families, it is worse than other insurance agencies.

Follow-up to original post (above): USAA tried ONE time to contact me. ONCE today 9/26. CHERYL ext: *******.
I called back and listen to ten rings and got an answering machine. I left a message in regards to the missed call. She never called back. Then USAA claimed they have been trying to contact me from 9/16-9/25 with no contact. I saw this shift of blame and tried to call CHERYL ext: *******, again, twice. I got sent straight to the answering machine after one ring, both times. I left another message. If you have a choice, avoid this company.

They are always helpful, understanding and take the time to explain things. I appreciate that from a bank that has no local branches where I depend solely on telephone conversation. They has always fixed any problems I may have had with banking also and make sure that there are no unauthorized purchases on my card. Great company.

USAA: Always hire a lawyer
September 26, 2023

Always hire a lawyer when dealing with USAA. Here are the tactics USAA uses to avoid paying your car claim.
1. Ignore your phone calls and delay for months to wear you down
2.Make you manage their claim department to get things done
3.Each new person shows surprise that no one has called you back and promises to take care of it
4.Tell you that your 2022 claim was on an old system and only a few people can access that system
5.Play a game that the market value of a wrecked car is within $500 dollars of an unwrecked car.

Go somewhere else.

I have been with them for over 20 years and I am done. Terrible customer service. Weird changes to deposits- holding your deposits for 7 days - and you can't access your funds. When did this start? And their customer service is a call center with people reading scripts. You cannot get help. They went from a 10 to a 2.

USAA Safe Pilot App.
January 24, 2024

I'm a 39 year member and have been driving over 50 years. I tried their Safe pilot App program where good driving is rewarded with up to 30% discount. Save your self the aggravation. Haven had an accident or ticket for 40+ years. Their rates are high so this app should have been a good deal. My usual drive per day is about 10 miles. Today I drove about 200 miles to go fishing. When I got home I checked my score it went from 94 to 67. It seems that cars are made to sit in your garage and not driven and if you drive too much you are penalized. So is it worth sacrificing you privacy and being watch as you drive? If I remember correctly, most accidents happen within 2 miles of your home! Am I not giving the company to see my driving over a long period without an accident or infraction. You would think that would be a plus for the driver. Last month my wife questioned a charge on our account but they would not speak to her as she was not the account holder. They were to lazy to check the POA on file! Then they didn't activate autopay on a new card so I paid a hefty price even thought the funds were in the account to pay them. So a $300 interest paid by me but I only earned a few cents that on the funds in my account to pay the bill. Shameful. While I complain, the company in general is good. I guess each company has some incompetent staff and manages which cause them a negative rating. Learn and adjust, we pay your salary by being members.

They are Great!
April 11, 2016

I have been with them for over 11 years. I have never had bad customer service. And trust me I call in all the time, with questions or when something happens to my car. Every time I have had a finder bender they fix it quickly and they even introduced me to my favorite auto body shop. Western Auto Crafters, in los angeles. Now I won't take it to any one else. This company is fantastic. I can't rave enough on how great they are.

My daughter was rear-ended March 2019. July 2019 USAA agent finally tells my daughter the other person's insurance company denied our claim and that my daughter has to pay the deductible and then they will try to get it back. Other person claimed my daughter switched lanes, which she didn't and says so in the police report. Rather than believing my daughter and the police report, they side with the other driver. I am done with USAA and will take my home and auto business elsewhere. They spend a lot of money on commercials acting like they care about vets, when the only thing they really care about is the almighty buck... sad.

I was a customer with USAA for over 20 years and just recently I was affected by fraud so I called Usaa reported it. Instead of helping me they put a block on my account to where I have no access and told me I have 60 days to get another account bc my accounts with them will be closed. On top of that the money I do have in my account will not be released to me for 60 days. Turned to find out the representative who took the report didn't report it correctly and then the person whom got into my account disputed charges with a company that I pay my families rent in the amount of 2402.00 and 1602.00 instead of freezing my account and calling me they are now holding they monies they disputed and USAA can careless if my family goes homeless now I have to pay 1602.00 with this months rent of 2400.00 monies I do not have bc I have to wait 60 days. My husband served the military 26 years and passed away by suicide due to PTSD. So look elsewhere or better yet put your monies under a mattress more safer there than a banking institution. More to come

I've tried to work with USAA for many years. I've tried large purchases with them. I've tried to refinance my auto loans though them. I've tried their life insurance with and my auto insurance with the.
1. My auto insurance rates are much higher with them than any other insurance agency.
2. Their life insurance is a sham.
3. My friends claim has been an ongoing claim for the past 4 to 5 years. Refusal to pay out for coverage paid for.
4. It's nearly impossible to get a loan from them, being a home loan, car loan or a refinance loan from another major financial institutions.
At this point the only reason I still have a checking account there is because that is where my va disability check goes.

USAA is a company that has tremendous products and services AND phenomenal Customer Service. I moved both my auto and home coverage here. In fact, 2 months after moving my auto coverage here, a hurricane placed a large tree neatly on my car. USAA settled with a payment higher than I expected! This is after only 2 months of premiums in their pocket. Need I say more?

USAA stonewalls, points fingers, shirks responsibility. Even small claims are dragged out for months on end - leaving members without transportation while their own damaged vehicles sit in the driveway. USAA leaders have lost sight of their own core values and are tone deaf to customer needs.
