I just made my second purchase on Thred up - so far it has been a great experience, buying clothing that is like new for a lot less than it would normally cost. I am petite, so I am glad there are petite sizes available. I also only buy clothing that is in excellent condition, eligible for returns, and from well know brands (such as ann taylor, J. Crew, and BR). I do not think I will try selling clothing to Thred up however, due to reviews that describe this as a bad experience.

I sent three bags of designer clothing to Thread up. They accepted five items from the first bag, including a silk Joie blouse that was brand new and cost $150, an evening dress that was originally $300, and some lululemon items. For five items, I got $35. I got an email saying they accepted nothing from the other two bags. I was shocked because those bags included brand new Frye snake skin boots ($500 retail), coach shoes, and new Kate Spade and Tori Burch clothing among other items. This week, I got an email saying they had made a mistake. The email included 68 links to items. They wanted me to click on every link and note if the item was mine. Apparently, my stuff was mixed in with other people's stuff. Can you imagine how long it took to go to 68 links!?! 13 of the items were mine and I'm still not convinced I didn't miss something. Worse, I'm not convinced they sent links to all of my items they are going to keep. I know everyone thinks they have nice stuff, but seriously, I sent them great stuff. All new, designer, and less than one year old. So, right now, for three giant bags of designer clothing and shoes, I have $35 and a lot of questions/frustrations. Who knows where all my stuff is?

I'd bought a few things from ThredUp and been reasonably pleased with the quality and price. One thing was excellent, the rest were fine for what I paid.

My first consigning experience, though, was horrible. I sent a huge bag stuffed with clothes, most specifically from the list of "acceptable" brands on the website. Most were nice things that I've worn for work. All were clean, no stains, no holes. I received $1 for consigning a long-sleeved t-shirt I bought in Montreal for about $15, and nothing else for any of the things I sent. I also never received an explanation, additional payout, or information about where my things went.

I didn't expect to get rich off consigning, but I had hoped that my brand name clothes that met all of the service's criteria would result in a bit more return, or at some communication about what happened to all of the things I sent.

I won't bother shopping or consigning there again. You probably shouldn't either unless your expectations are very, very low.

I sent them two beautiful coats that I bought at Venus, and a really nice pair of fashion boots. All were never worn. And all cost me over $80 a piece.

They only accepted one coat I paid $100 for (again, not worn) and they graciously, after a month, said I earned $2.48. No offer to give me the stuff they didnt want back. Guessing they're going to make some good money off my stuff.

Biggest rip off ever. I wish I had put them in a consignment shop.

I sold items using thredup and found the process to be easy. I was a little rises disappointed with the amount of money they sent back considering three of the items I sent were brand new with tags. I also received a 40% coupon for sending in my bag but the code did not work/expired very quickly. I tind the prices of most items to be a little high and this without the 40% off coupon I probably will just accept the cash payout and not purchase anything. Seems like a great idea but wasn't truly consignment prices.

Out of 16 items they accepted only 5. They said that the other 11 were "unclean or stained." That is absolutely untrue. I've consigned for years, know how it works, and wouldn't bother sending unclean or stained clothes over. I didn't buy the return box in case items weren't taken because they were all in excellent condition (J. Crew, Madewell, French Connection) so now they're just gone. They'll take pictures for you of the clothes they reject so you can "see" what they're referring to but it's a lie. Not one of the pictures demonstrated anything less than excellent condition. CONSIGN SOMEWHERE ELSE, THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE.

I got referred from a friend. Bought a few things and was happen UNTIL I decided to sell some of my things. It was an absolutely horrible experience. I sent them a totally full bag, I remember this because the girl at the fed ex counter was helping me get it closed. They returned a a bag about a quarter filled so I was excited that they accepted so many of my things. However, when I pulled up my three up account, I saw they accepted only 3 smaller things! I paid EXTRA for have the things they would not accept returned to me and they were NOT there one being a $350 pair of Frye cowboy boots! I have attempted to contact them 4 times with this issue and have totally been ignored. It's been about 1.5 months now. They are a total rip off! Take the extra money you pay for the so called 'return insurance" then take your good items and sell them hoping you won't recognize this? Then of course horrible customer service not even addressing the screw up. Never again for me beware!
