You'll never know what a terrible company this is to deal with unless you really dig because they reject any unflattering reviews of their products or customers service.
My experience has been nothing but awful. Selling products they don't have in stock. Ignoring contact emails. Poor quality product. Misleading product information published on their site. You have to pay for shipping on both ends, to get the items and return them. Good luck getting your refund. I'm still waiting on that. I have only had 1 other negative experience ordering products online that could compare to my experiences with Sundance and that was a fly by night company that may have never even really existed in the 1st place. Avoid Sundance unless you just have money to burn or like to gamble.
My Gosh I have never ever come across so many whingers.
I buy antique jewellery from auction houses and they charge a minimum of $25 just to ship a small ring.
There are lots of online businesses who make you pay for the return shipping, even if the item if faulty- and it their fault!
Like many reviews expressed here, items are not what they appear to be in their photos which was the reason for my return. Colors on "Sweet Nothings Pouch" were not as shown so I returned this item immediately and am still waiting for them to credit my account. It has been three weeks since they received the item and they've made all kinds of excuses as to why I do not have a credit to my account, all of which are lame. Three phone calls to inquire, the last one waiting on hold for quite some time to speak with a manager, Karen, who not only told me they "must have lost the paperwork for the return", but instead of an apology, she copped an attitude! Certainly not management material. This company used to be classy and appreciate their customers... no more! Now I most likely have to dispute the charge with my bank if I don't see the credit within "another" 2-3 days. This should not be! Will NEVER order from them again after this experience!
Awful return policy. It's all done by snail mail, even the paper you put back in the box. No way will I ever order from here again, Hey, Barefoot in the Park, get your shipping/receiving/returns folks on board and get this crap moving!
Ordered summer dress. No feedback on website that it was out of stock. Will ship aug 22 when summer almost over. Called customer service. Because of delay wanted to change size. Created new order but discount not appearing on new order print out sent to me. I called 2 customer service people that explained why the print out count not display the correct amount(crazy) and were argumentative and condescending that I did not understand their convoluted inefficient system. Obviously they have not worked at a company with good business systems. So It's july, i'm waiting for my item to ship at the end of august and I have no printed proof that I am getting the discount. I wont be ordering anything else from you
As is with many upscale retailers, the catalog photography is aspirational, but many of the cheaply manufactured products don't stand up to the positioning of being a "high end" retailer. I purchased a pair of jeans, (not cheap) and immediately upon removing from the package, one of the rivets (metal buttons) popped off. They were thin and the material was cheap and flimsy. The design elements were nice, but for that price, it's not worth the poor quality. I was told I would not be charged a return fee of $7.95 (absurd since shipping was allegedly "free" with my first purchase), let's see if they actually hold to that statement. Customer service rep was helpful. Would rather purchase similar items, in person, at Anthropolgie.
Love the store in Nashville, but when ordering online I always call to see if it's in stock in our local Nashville store. If it's not, they will take the order over the phone and ship without shipping costs. I absolutely love Sundance clothing, but really do believe they need to abolish the shipping costs to keep in line with other retailers. Ordering over the phone to get around shipping costs works for me, but costs Sundance more (in employee costs) than if they just didn't charge for shipping. I can always add more to my Sundance order to get free shipping if it was an option (free shipping for $100+ or so?).
Love the outlet shop too -- got gorgeous western boots for just a little over $100 in the outlet. Fit is perfect too.
While sundance is great for clothes and things like handbags, we tried to order a nightstand. The catalog implies white glove, in-home placement. They twice sent it inadequately packed and it arrived with the legs cracked, just left on my front walk. I needed to find help to bring it inside in the winter. The first one arrived damaged and customer service was ok. They messed up the replacement and charged us for both. Then to fix it they needed to charge us a third time for some reason, placing 1800+ dollars of pending charges on my account that I could not use for other furnishings we needed for our new house. The charges finally went away although I did have to make an extra call to push the matter. The second one arrived damaged and the customer service rep acted as if we were very suspicious. Again, the legs were right up against the edge of the box with packaging and were cracked. I asked if they had a way to pick it up or send it via different shipping method and they quoted me a price that was equal to the three they already had on my account. I want to really like sundance but the logistics seem to escape their ability. I ended up on Wayfair instead and got a very similar piece that was packed extremely well.
Love your catalog, although most things out of my price range. The concern I have is the lack of diversity. I am a natural blond and fair skinned. I would appreciate some real blond models, to get a better idea of how the color palette would work for me. Thank you for your consideration.
Nice products, but refunds take about 3 weeks & always require an unpleasant argumentative follow up call. I always receive less than amount owed, shipping is unreasonably high, arrogant defensive unhelpful customer service even when ordering! I am spoiled by GREAT customer service with all my other online companies.
Where did all the nice employees go from Sundance? Oh that's right they all left. Can the Senior leadership team maybe review Management styles in that store so the stressful atmosphere is not passed on to shoppers? Love merchandise. Hate the vibe there.
Ugh this has been a lengthy and expensive purchase. I ordered two rings so I could decide which one fit but neither did and I didn't like the quality for the price. I returned them and after 3 weeks of no refund I started calling them. The customer service representatives literally seem bored and say the same things in a robotic voice. One representative mumbled and when I asked him to repeat he yelled the word. Another time the representative yawned and said. Sorry-refund is refunded in the order received? Huh? It's now been 5 weeks and got my refund minus 40.00. Why? Now another call to be told it's a handling charge plus shipping. Won't ever order again from this company.
Sundance Catalog raises the price on outlet items before and during 40% off promotion. For example, a sweater I was eyeing jumped From $29.00 to 49.00 lol. Do they think their customers are stupid? Anybody who shops this site often will notice that they sharply increased the prize on outlet items. They want you to believe you're getting a good deal but really you're not! You're likely to end up checking out for the same price as you would during their 10 or 20% off promotion. Completely ridiculous and so transparent. Many items are cheaply made in China and do not live up to the expectation of what is pictured. I have also noticed that many outlet items have zero reviews. Are they wiping them before a 40% off promotion so we can't read bad reviews?
Earring came appart first time my wife wore them. Took weeks to get here in the first place so return policy is void to start. Wrote several emails with zero response. This is not a good company. Spend your hard earned money where your patronage is appreciated!
Love the stores, but won't be purchasing online ever again. Charged me the wrong sales tax, then shipping, then shipping on returns. Ordered boots and a sweater that was not true to size & colors. I have to pay for their poor products. My mistake, never again.
Cheap stuff. I've tried multiple times over the years and its just never good. I made returns this twice this past try. Both times, the method they give you (their return label etc) - it took 21 days from date i dropped it off to their 'receiving' it. I order online a lot. Returns are usually handed off/back to the company with 3-5 days via same ups/usps methods (credit may take awhile but the return gets there.). Sundance doesn't say they're 'received' it until 21+ days... its very odd. Consistently odd. I suspect they want to stall credits. But whatever, never again. Never.
Ordered console of reclaimed wood that looked great in catalog, not so much in person. Was going to keep it until one door would not close properly and locks on door only worked on top, not on bottom. I live 4 blocks from Pacific Ocean, finish was spotty in places, so I believe it absorbed moisture from the air. Was told refund would appear on card same day item picked up, but it hasn't shown up so far. Round trip shipping will cost me over $700.00 Very expensive lesson.
I too wish I had read reviews before ordering from this fiasco of a so called business. I have dealt with nothing but rude reps and when you call and ask where your order is they cant find anything and then they get an attitude. I lost my temper with one of them and cursed them out because she told me she will let mr know when she is ready for my order, really? Lady.If you return something be prepared to wait at least 6 weeks its a joke. Take your business elsewhere where they give a s---! Joanna.
Be warned, please don't buy from Sundance. It took 1 month for them to acknowledge that I returned an item (they received it a month earlier) and it will be another month before I receive a refund... minus $27.90 for return costs. Of course, I'm disputing the charges as their website clearly shows that large package returns incur a fee of $12.95, not $27.90. I encourage everyone to dispute their bogus fees because, if they need to assign them to a customer service employee to resolve, it will cost them money. If they get enough unhappy customers, i. E., it's costing them a lot to address the disputes, then they might do the honest thing and abide by their return policy. Furthermore, their products are of very poor quality. Never again!
Don't buy from Sundance unless you are SURE of size, fit, quality, etc. Not only is shipping charge exorbitant, but return shipping is absurd. I paid $21.90 (13.95 + 7.95) just to have a look at this item. The item was a flimsy sleeveless shell and actual shipping costs would be in the neighborhood of $5. It's like going into a store and being charged just to try a garment on. I will stick with Zappos and amazon where shipping and returns are usually free! I don't mind being charged a few dollars extra for an item if I keep it. Then at least if I return it I'm not out anything.
Answer: No. Sold it to a lawless private equity firm. Took the money and ran laughing all the way to the bank. Screw the customer until there are none, then just rebrand and keep screwing the customer. But when it comes down to it, its up to consumers to do their homework on all e-commerce as there are few laws, protections, and really no regulatory oversight/enforcement for this kind of criminal fraud which is rampant in the US now. Other countries have enviable common sense laws governing e-commerce on their books because their citizens wont tolerate the sort of abuses and fraud perpetrated by companies like Sundance, et al.
Answer: Shipping costs are extremely high, shipping is very slow and quality is not consistent.
Answer: The photos are so deceptive that the product you receive is nothing like them. See my photos below. I wish Sundance would do better.
Answer: No you don't! Overpriced and poor quality. I Purchased a necklace on sale and it was so tiny I returned it. This company is no longer affiliated with Robert Redford!
