I used Spectrum while living in Montana great service.
Then I moved to ST Regis falls NY
The most terrible customer service I have ever received! The associates in the offices were horrid. Rude and very unhelpful. Screwed up the orders and then the installation person ran wires and put holes in my house before figuring out that our tv was too old for Spectrum so he left all the equipment and said to stream the service. The streaming service was absolutely horrible,
this is the BIGGY They have been taking money from my account for services that I canceled in their Malone office and Refuse to Pay the money back i(in the Hundreds of dollars,
I am turning them into the Better Business Bureau. Another indicator of the poor service The day I returned the equipment and canceled my account the person ahead of me and the person behind me in the line was also canceling their service. Bad Business

Your phone will work great for the first 16 days but as soon as you hit your 17 day your phone will drop every call to and from your phone even when you and just setting at home I wish I would have never changed I will be going back asap what a POS

Spectrum is one of those companies that use the shady practice of spoofing the first few digits of a legitimate phone number. I hate telemarketers and don't normally answer the phone if I don't recognize a number. But I recently received one that the caller ID came up as "DIR ASST OH *******698." Thinking I was getting a call from Directory Assistance I of course answered the phone only to have a man with a very thick accent that I couldn't understand and a lot of background noise tell me he was calling on behalf of Spectrum and launched into a sales pitch. I tried politely interrupting him but he just kept talking until I had to become more forceful and then disconnect the call. If Spectrum will use such shady tactics as this just to get customers I can only wonder what shady tactics one would have to deal with after becoming a customer.

I wish I would have known this was such a bad company before I got with them! First they charge you $200 for activation fee, then less than a month later you get your 1st bill in. To top it off! I get my 2nd bill in and it's due less that a month from when I paid my last! I look at my bill and these buffoon company is charging me for service I haven't received yet! On the bill summary it says service from 04/14/19-05/13/19 and today is 04/23

Wish I could give less than one star
December 31, 2021

Customer service at this company is ridiculously terrible. I tried to cancel my cable service. I still had a couple day left in my cycle. Called. They said that now we have to return the box to cancel the service and we can't do it over the phone. Ok, no problem. We were told to go to a Spectrum store. We went. The store told us they no longer accept returns and that they need to be shipped via UPS. Got it. We went to UPS and had it shipped. Easy enough. The guy at UPS said we need to call Spectrum to cancel. Ok, third time we got contradictory information. But no biggie. We called Spectrum. Then we were told that calling doesn't matter and that they need to receive the box before the cycle. Now I am getting frustrated. Our billing starts again tomorrow and there is no way to return the box - especially now that it is with UPS. I figured we would get a prorated amount for any days we didn't use. Nope. We will be charged the full amount. So basically we have no box. No cable and need to pay $100 for a month when we can't use it. No wonder everyone is cutting the chord. This is a dead business model and so they need to squeeze every penny out of people. Sadly, we have no other option for internet so we are stuck with them for now.

We moved in to new neighborhood try to get a Fri appointment we booked it two weeks before I moved to the house they said everything was ready to go waiting around for 4 hours they never came we called Spectrum and they said it was ditched dispatches problem when there was installer for doors down they said they couldn't make it there that day and they tried calling us which is bat big f****** lie then they said they couldn't come on the same day and they said it was our problem not theirs I think dispatch is the most $#*!ed people I've ever met we would be better off going back to Time Warner Cable or Comcast all of you equally suck I hope Spectrum I hope you go to hell I wish I could give a rating of zero as I said you suck

If you are thinking of going with Spectrum Internet- DON'T! They have the WORST communication I have EVER experienced. Sure, the people who work there are friendly but they don't know what they are doing! If they say they are "putting in a work order" you can just forget it because you aren't getting your internet set up for at least another month! Absolutely RIDICULOUS and UNACCEPTABLE. Would not wish on my worst enemies.

Bad Business Practice
September 26, 2023

Most people in fact nobody I know looks at the bill and the spectrum customer service rep do not tell you that you bill is about to double.

Spectrum is GREAT ABOUT SENDING PUSH NOTIFICATIONS witch i used to get every single month telling me what my bill amount is and no even bats an eye until its out of the ordinary like when your bill doubles.

They can push you a notification out a out your bill but they can not put a warning saying HEY YOUR BILL IS GOING TO DOUBLE as if you knew you would be looking for another internet company so spectrum doesn't want you to know your bill is going to double.

You can not complain as they have no complaint email or number to complain to because they dont want to hear your complaints a rep will tell you i will give you feed back witch everyone knows that means FILE 13. Spectrum could care less.

For the past couple of years, I have been more than satisfied with Spectrum TV/Internet, and customer service. I left Verizon and AT&T because they kept increasing rates to ridiculous amounts.
In trying to keep the bill relatively low (less than the other 2), I've been calling because the bill has been 'creeping' up...again. When I called about a week ago, they told me that the only thing I could do to reduce my bill for the plan the I was "grandfathered" into without losing my discounts was to "return the DVR Receiver to reduce the bill by ~$24 per month...so I did.
I looked at my bill, and am still being charged for the returned equipment. Of course, when I called today, I was told that I COULD NOT remove the monthly receiver cost of $10.99, but could remove the the "DVR Service" for $12.99. I had 2 choices; get a reg HD receiver for the $10.99, or simply continue 'give them $10.99 per month for nothing. I have already been paying for "voice services" since I signed up...again a service I NEVER use! If I wanted to change my package to remove the receiver cost, I would lose everything, and still be paying over $200 per month.
So, I them send me the reg HD receiver asap (who knows when it will come, or if it will be her before the next billing cycle).

Bad situation; very disappointing. They've most likely lost a customer, or I may just go with internet only (unless I can find something that will better suit my needs).

Denial of Service
August 2, 2017

I have the business Package phone/internet/Wi-fi. Monday, at approximately 1:00 PM they had an outage killing my credit card machine, internet, alarms and telephone services. This was corrected early Tuesday morning. However, my services were still out. I called and was told they couldn't get to me until Wednesday. I called Wednesday morning and was told there was a ticket in. And they would be there today. However, they could give me no time. I have called numerous times today and at 7:00 PM, and was told "All the techs have gone home." I will call again in the morning, but, I am already sick of this run around and at 2 PM tomorrow, I am disconnecting their gear and putting it outside the door. Everybody you talk to says, "Oh, I'm so sorry and I understand your frustration. I will email dispatch and dispatch managers and have them call you"... No results. I promise this, if you can't get my business up by the the time mentioned, "Beyond removing your gear, I will do all in my power to make everybody aware of the sorry service they provide and it won't be limited to this site."

I with I could give them no stars. We use to have charter/spectrum for years. We moved & was told they didn't service the area we moved to. Only to find out they do. So I called to get it set up despite the ridiculous pricing & over priced "taxes & fees" of almost $32. I was told I'd receive free installation, free only for the installer to get here & say we'd have to pay $50 cause he'd have to run wires to one of the rooms that doesn't have any cable wires to it. I told the rep when I was placing the order that the previous tenants must've had direct tv or dish cause the AT&T installer had to give us 2 wireless boxes. When did these people get so cheap & lazy. What's the purpose of a installer no days? What if this was a brand new home with no wiring at all? Install means to install, run wires, etc. if their not going to install anything or try to charge you for what they're suppose to do then they shouldn't offer "free installation" that's false advertisement! They should say free set up! I'm SUPER PISSED!

I was excited to think that I could use Spectrum as my provider for my cell phone I've gone to the Spectrum office on many occasions and I never get full satisfaction I've had to go back at least 2 to 3 times on most occasions. Just last week I called the office and spoke to someone named Alvin and I asked him about helping me with my account, while he messed up everything that he could and after he did he put me on hold and never came back. My bill was paid and Alvin had my service disconnected. I had to get dressed and sit in the store to speak to someone to restore my service. I use my cell for all my business. I got someone else I must've been on the phone with him an hour and got nothing done. Then I had to go into the store and Wait to be served. I spoke to a guy named Rex he help me and he got my phone service back on I don't know why I would ever disconnected in the first place. My bill was paid. Spectrum has the worse customer service ever he's one of the worst companies ever cell phone service. Wish I could rate less than 1.

Spectrum rip off
March 23, 2019

Time Warner would work with you on price and Spectrum refuses. When I was with TW I was paying $89.00 a month for cable, Internet and phone. I just received my latest bill for $178.15. Spectrum WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU.
THEY DON T DESERVE A 1 STAR...
I will do my best to eliminate them totally...

Looks like Spectrum is doing price discrimination with me and others. I got a promotion in the mail which says it is only for new customers. I have been a Spectrum customer for almost 2 years and they say my so-called promotional rate is over the end of this month. My rate will then be substantially above the rates on the promotion and they refused to do anything about it. I have reached out to the NJ Board of Public Utilities and the FTC on this matter.

Spectrum has given no indication they are going to stop their price discrimination. As a result, we cut the cable cord and brought the cable box back to the Spectrum office in Palisades Park, NJ. I told the person waiting on me there I still want to keep Spectrum for the phone and internet for now. He told me my internet service will now go up from $40 a month to $80 a month with my no longer qualifying for discounts I had in writing that are good until 5/1/22. Verizon Fios charges $40.00 a month. The person I spoke with had no name tag and refused to give his name. Here is a photo of him covering his face when I took a picture of him for identification purposes.

Even if you are on a promotion your rate still goes up, its gone up 2 times per year every year even though I was suppose to be locked in to a promotional deal.

RANT SAN ANTONIO LOCATION

RANT: They took a REALLY long time to see me in store when all i needed was to return their equipment because their internet is dog water.
They texted me to return to the store at 2:03 so that i could be helped, and they didn't help me until 2:42

They were very dismissive with my questions even when they weren't helping anyone at the time when i approached them.

They also have zero control of their store and dont respect the customers there. There was a little kid there with a spiderman mask literally SPRINTING and climbing and jumping on furniture the entire 40+ minutes i was there and they said nothing to the parents. They allowed these parents and their child to treat the store like a playground. The parents are 100% at fault for this brat but the store has the authority to say something and didn't. It was a nightmare and extremely annoying.

Update: was just seen after 50+ minutes of waiting (not counting the time i waited before i got the text) and the entire interaction took less than a minute.
I tried to talk tell them my frustrations and Matt, which was the employee next to the person helping me started shaking his head, smirking and smiling in a very disrespectful manner as i was complaining. I called him out and he tried to play it off. Extremely disrespectful.

Think twice before signing up for Spectrum. The lack of customer service, empathy, and knowledge of product is on full display as they talk to you. From the CSR to the supervisors their either irresponsible or ignorant or both. Either way its something that customers should not have to deal with. There business model is simple, charge the customer before they get service, even if there are outages your still charged full price. Then to top it off, screw them over when you try and transfer service to new location. (See above why irresponsible or ignorant) There employees and supervisors have no common sense to understand the reason why you transfer service. Maybe its because you no longer live there-duh? However, they still charged me like I was there because my service never got canceled until I was billed for a new month. I could not get them to understand and they billed me for an extra month even when I wasn't even in the state. Ridiculous! Spectrum didn't take responsibility (of course) or could even comprehend this but I guess I didn't expect them to. I guess Spectrum business model is to blame the customers for everything, charge them for everything so the customer get so mad that they will never use there service again.
