Wow... just read all of these awful reviews. I too have been extremely dissappointed with this company. Even more frustrating is the generic response each reviewer has gotten-well, actions speak louder than words! I have mostly been a donar. My complaints are-Women's clothes listed as children's, men's shirts listed as women's. Prices are all over the charts- some being over priced by 100.00 and nwt items way under priced -no rhyme or reasoning to your system. I have complained, but recieved the same bs, with promises to improve, but the same problems have occurred over and over. And oh, did I mention? Many clothes never ever listed... I did find some of them under other schools inventory! For many years, I owned an upscale consignment shop, so I know what to send and what to throw away. The worst part is I collected for my former grammar school, which is located on the far south side of Chicago, one of the neighborhoods you hear about on the national news. These kids can't walk to school unaccompanied by adults, they live below the poverty level, i had hoped Schoola was going to bring a ray of sunshine into their lives by raising money for their school, instead just the opposite. I give Schoola a D and an F for effort
Between the $10 credit at sign up, $10 credit for making a collection and the 50% off coupon I only spent $4.00 on three outfits for my son! Plus 40% of all sales going to help schools is amazing!
Ordered 3 weeks ago, received nothing. I caled and got an answering machine. I have emailed. Finally got a person on the phone. They gave me tracking number saying they are sorry and they have overnighted it. Low and behold the tracking number doesnt work on ANY shipping site. What a joke. They also send me a credit for 10.00 on a future purchase... are you kidding me?
Hi Erik, Turi here with Schoola. Thanks for your feedback and so sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. We're a small team dedicated to raising funds for schools and with feedback like yours we're constantly working on improving the experience for our customers. If you're still in need of assistance, please reach out to hello@schoola.com. Thanks, Turi
This is a really nice site to get some free clothes. I've ordered $60 worth of free maternity clothes from them and they were all in nice condition. One of the items, a pair of shorts, looked nothing like they did in the picture, but that's the only problem I've had with my orders. I don't like how they have such few plus size clothes, but that's okay because I order clothing to give people for gifts instead! My sister also signed up on the site and got some free clothes, she was happy with them besides one shirt that had three small stains on it. But either way, I'll definitely keep on being a member! The only real complaint I have is how long shipping takes.
Now for those of you who are complaining on here about your donated item not showing up on Schoola, or a check not being sent to the school, read the Donor FAQ on the website. It specifically states that if an item is badly damaged, has a missing tag, or can't retail for $15 new, then they won't accept the item. Instead, they redistribute the item and give only 29c to the school. Regarding school checks, they are only distributed twice a year in January and July and they have to reach $20 by that time period or the check is not sent, it is rolled over into the next period.
Hi Danielle, Turi here with Schoola. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! For the item you received that was different than listed, don't hesitate to reach out to our customer care team: hello@schoola.com. Also, good news about plus-size--we were having some tech issues with the plus-size items going into the plus-size category, but that is now resolved so you should see more plus-size items in the future. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this bug. Best, Turi
Had the same problem as Karen. My order came in 2 packages, still missing two items that I bought and have emailed them 3 times about the missing items with no response!
Hi Val, Turi here with Schoola. Your order likely came in two packages because we ship our items from two warehouses. We aim to reply to emails within 24 hrs on business days, but we're a small, growing team so apologies if it's taken longer. If you still haven't heard back, you can check in by calling (855) 454-2956. Apologies for the delay, and thank you for shopping to support schools. Turi
I am always a natural skeptic, but two years ago I decided to give Schoola a shot to raise money for my kids preschool. I sent a few bags in and they were processed and sold quickly, so I decided to organize a bigger school wide clothing drive. We're a small school, but we still raised $1300 and it was great. That said, even then I noticed that none of the designer items with tags still on them ever seemed to make it on the site. (You may say - maybe they just sold very quickly. Sure, that's totally possible. I may have missed the sale of every one of those items because they were snatched up so quickly. But the total money going to the school did not seem to reflect this.) Still, when my daughter switched schools I decided to try sending a few bags in for the new school - again as a test run before suggesting a large school wide fundraiser. Six months later and multiple emails with them and the clothes were still not processed. Eventually I just sort of gave up. But I just double checked the site to see if the clothes has ever been processed and I see that apparently the 2 bags I sent were processed and 100% were sold - and the school earned a total of $5. $5 from six sales after two entire bags of clothing. Sure, maybe a bunch of what I sent didn't meet the standard. That's totally possible. But, again, a bunch of it was designer kids clothes and it great condition - some with the tags still on. Whether it is because these items never make it on the site to begin with, or because the percentage that goes to the school is so minuscule that the effort and time involved amounts to a complete waste of time - either way, something has changed at Schoola and it doesn't seem right. I won't be recommending or using Schoola anymore.
Got a Referral Credit from a friend so I decided to give Schoola a try. Received my order today and received 3 items that were WOMENS sizes when they were clearly listed as Grade School XS ((double checked the order receipt as well)) Including a Dress that was supposed to be a GRADE SCHOOL GIrls XS and its a Womens XS. How can you confuse this? Really? The quality was meh... Two of the items listed in Good condition had spot stains on them as well. So they will be used for play clothes. I will stick with Thredup or Flipsize.
Hi KR, Turi here with Schoola. Sorry to hear that the items you purchased were mislabeled--all of our items are donated and one of a kind, and it sounds like there was an error in processing. Don't hesitate to reach out to our customer care team so they can reimburse you for those items: hello@schoola.com. Thanks for shopping to support schools. Turi
SUPER fast shipping! All the clothes I received were excellent quality, but they weren't the same color advertised on the site (a few shades lighter/ darker). Overall, I would recommend it!
The website is terrible. Clothes are labeled incorrectly, bald head in a few, no way to track your orders. The clothes stink. My first order had 2 items missing with no explanation and a shirt that was supposed to be a child's size was a plus size woman's size. I called and complained and was given credits. So I use those credits and order again. That shipment had the same exact problem as the first: mislabeled shirt, stinky, and missing items. "DAWN" once again gave me credits and said the missing items were on the way. Foolishly I ordered one more time with credits. Weeks have passed and I have not see the missing items or my last order. Thus time I emailed them. The response took 2 days and apparently Ms. DAWN lied to me about my missing items because there was no explanation just more codes. They claim my last shipment was delayed. I should have been notified of this a long time ago. Take your business elsewhere. This company doesn't know what they're doing and doesn't really care.
Hi Courtenay, Turi here with Schoola. Thanks so much for your honest and open feedback, and sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like you caught us during a transition period when we were opening our new fulfillment center. We're dedicated to our mission of raising funds for schools and are growing quickly. We're constantly working to improve, so your feedback is helpful. Turi
Believe all the negative reviews you hear! This company should be shut down! They are completely misleading. I purchased my first, and last order from them. I purchased $50 worth of junk clothing. You'd be better off going to Goodwill, or some other thrift store for clothing versus these guys! Only 3 pieces of 9 items ordered were wearable. They advertised that the clothing I purchased was in good condition. Nowhere did it say they had defects. Granted the clothes are in used condition, so some wear is normal. However, the items I received were beyond normal wear & tear! 1 shirt had a black pen mark across the front. The 2nd shirt had a huge black marker stain on the back. A pair of pants had multiple tiny holes & tears on the back. 2 other tops had bleach stains either on the front or back. Oh & then there was a sweater that was a navy blue on the website, but they sent me a sky blue sweater. It wasn't the same sweater & looked like an old sweater your grandma would wear! The pictures I viewed showed or made no mention about the defects. Yet, when I received my items it's all I could see! I am beyond pissed! These people are a scam! They say your purchase goes to schools. I'm not even convinced of that! And they try to say they overlooked the defects. Unbelievable! The best advice I can give to someone looking to purchase from these guys is to just say no!
Hi Ciera, Turi here with Schoola. I'm so sorry to hear that the items you received were not as listed. We do our best to quality check all the donated items, and it sounds like some of the items you received slipped through the cracks. We're constantly working to improve our quality check process. If you haven't already, don't hesitate to reach out to customer care so they can reimburse you for the items: hello@schoola.com. And I can assure you that 40% of funds go to schools. It's very important to us to make a difference for children's education. Thanks, Turi
So i discovered schoola.com recently and seen i could get $25 credit and free shipping
So i signed up, added items to my cart and went to checkout
I had to enter a credit card to check out. I entered the credit card and seen the total said $0.00 so it meant i was getting some free clothes.
Now ten minutes after i ordered i checked my credit card balance and seen they charged my card. When i emailed them about it then 2 days later they replied and said i was ineligible for the credit and they marked the issue/ticket closed
Then i reopened the issue/ticket and asked for them to cancel the order and refund me.
Then a day later i receive an email stating my order was shipped out in 2 packages.
Today i received one package and the one of the items are in really bad shape and the threading is just hanging there. I thought it was GENTLY used and GOOD condition clothes but of course i get ripped off.
There customer service is a complete joke
So im basically forced to just accept that i was ripped off
Hi Robbie, Turi here with Schoola. Thank you for your feedback, and I'm sorry to hear that it doesn't sound like your issue has been resolved. I want to reassure you that Schoola is certainly not a scam--we sell used clothing to raise funds for schools, and feel very passionate about making a difference in children's lives. It sounds like there was some sort of a confusion or a technical glitch with your credits, and we definitely want to help you get to the bottom of it. If you'd like to reach out to customer care again, don't hesitate to let them know that you've been in touch with me (Turi) and I can give them more background info. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this straightened out for you. Turi, Schoola
THEY ARE STEALING OUR DONATIONS FOR THEIRSELVES. THEY RANDOMLLY CLOSE AS MANY ACCOUNTS AS THEY CAN. THEY DID NOT GIVE NO MONEY TO MY CHILDS SCHOOLA AND I SENT I 27 BAGS PERSONALLY. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THEY DO NOT CLEAN THEIR CLOTHING AT ALL SO THEIR IS SOME TALK OF BUG TRANSFERRING. CUSTOMER SERVICE DONT CARE NOR ARE HELPING ANYTHING. AND THEY HARRASSED AND CLOSED ACCOUNTS ON PEOPLE ON MOTHERS DAY WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE CLOSED. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE CARES. HOLLY IS A HORRIBLE EMPLOYEE. AND DANIELL TOLD EVERYONE THEY CAN USE THE SAME COMPUTER BUT NOW THAT IS WHY ACCOUNTS ARE CLOSING FOR NO REASON. WHICH IT DONT MATTER THEY SEND THE WRONG SIZES ALL THE TIME AND CLAIM THEY LOOSE THE GOOD ITEMS ALL THE TIME. I BELEIVE THEIR EMPLOYEES JUST TAKE THEM. I GOT A EMAIL FROM A SCHOOLA COACH AND THEY HAD THEIR LINK IN IT. HOW PATHETIC!
Hi Alana, Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. I was able to check in with the team here on your account details. Per our one account per household rule, we put your account on hold. Because of the volume of donations we receive, there is currently a processing backlog and your items should hit the site soon if they meet our donation requirements.
Not overwhelmingly pleased with the purchases I have made - difficult with their photos to see what you're actually getting size-wise and quality wise. Need better measurements. Buyer beware on purchases though I have had about 25% of items that have been decent enough for me to wear... the other items I simply sent back to them to fundraise for my school system... more on this ahead.
My biggest frustration with this company comes from when I sent in items to raise funds for my childhood schools. The first time, items processed in a timely manner, most items accepted and a small amount was raised.
The second time, however, was a fiasco. I sent in a full bag of some of my nicest items that I no longer wore, and items from Schoola that didn't fit/weren't what I expected. I reinforced it with tape just in case to ensure all of my beloved items were used for fundraising, not lost in transit. I believe it was somewhere from 8 months to a year until it was processed AFTER they received the bag (it had a tracking number). There was much emailing with the company to get an update. When this was said and done, they accepted two items. Just 2. These were gorgeous articles of clothing, some new with tags, and others they deemed good enough to sell to me the first time around. When I inquired with the company as to why they said the bag only contained 2 items. Not true, especially given the care I took to tape it up and the weight on file with the mailing company and no notice of damage by them. Perhaps you lost it over the course of 8+ months, Schoola?
Schoola stole from not only me, but the menial funds that would have been raised for the school system. Its quite shameful, actually. Do not trust them with your items!
As far as the funds actually raised, they are menial. Best to have a local yard sale - you'll make more.
Schoola's prices are a joke. This is a great idea, but it's been executed by the wron person. You can see this in how the website is organized, how high their prices are, how many mislabeled items they have, and supposedly how they claim EVERYTHING is 69% or 70% off retail. Three of the 7 tops I purchased were mislabeled and were actually girls! Look at their prices, for used clothing most of the prices are outrageous! Charging $12-$30 for used clothing, some that are generic brands too. I bought about 5 tops from eBay for $15, free shipping. These 7 items would have cost me $61, but I got a coupon code and used some of the money they give you for signing up. They need to realize once an item is used it looses most of its retail value! They wanted $21 for a pair of used Levi's, proclaiming they were 70% off retail. What? A pair of Levi's are not $69, then I seen they have all Levis retailing at $69! New Levi's cost $15-$30 New(the ones like these, Walmart Levis). JC Penney or other department store charge $20 to $40, they retail for a little more & they're new! I bought a top for $16, later finding out that the "Bobbie Brooks" shirt was Dollar General brand, & it stated 70% off retail. Afterwards I found out that it was a Dollar General brand & they stated it retails at $52. More like $10 at Dollar General. This is ridiculously inaccurate, they're supposed retail prices are so off I can't believe I don't see more reviews stating so. I realize that about 40% goes to schools, but the prices should still NOT be that high! I won't be shopping there again unless they get reasonable prices! Also it took almost 3 weeks to ship my order.
Hi Mandie, thanks for writing - we are working steadily on improvements to make our pricing system as efficient and accurate as possible so that we can continue listing thousands of new items each day to benefit kids. If you notice that an item's price doesn't seem quite right, you can click the link at the bottom of the photo to send that feedback to us, and if you receive an item with a brand or pricing issue, our customer care team would love to make things right - just email help@schoola.com or call us at 855-454-2956. Thank you for your support for kids and schools. Turi
I recently found out about schoola.com and thought I'd give it a try. With a signup bonus of $20 and an additional $10 credit for creating a collection on their site I thought why not, sounds like a great deal. Well after filling up my cart and applying the credits I still had to enter my cc info ( which I was kind of anxious about but did anyways). My total said $0.00 but yet when I checked my credit card statement 2 days later, sure enough, I've been charged for the purchase. I wish I would have came here and read the reviews before I wasted my time with these people.
Update 11/2/15: I called and got my order canceled and my money was refunded. I still had a $28 dollar credit so not one to waste free money I made another order and it has now been 5 days and I have yet to hear anything about my order being shipped or even that it is processing. There is not even a way to get on their website and check the status of your order which I find really weird. So for now I'll be sticking with my original advice and letting people know to not waste their time. Shouldn't have bothered with giving them a second chance.
Hi L. S., Turi here with Schoola. I'm so sorry to hear that, and I'll make sure to pass your note along to our tech team to look into this further, as it sounds like a tech glitch. Our customer care team will be able to reimburse you for your order if they haven't already: hello@schoola.com. Thanks for providing this feedback so we can look into, and apologies. Turi
I sent a full bag of clothing to this company to raise funds for my children's school. Right after I mailed the bag, I found a multitude of negative reviews of the company online, so I put a post-it note on my computer as a reminder to check the site daily until my donations showed up on the site to see how they were advertised, what they were priced for, etc. A couple of weeks later, four of the less expensive items appeared online (I sent in 15 items), in conjunction with the school I designated. When none of the other items showed up after another week, I called and was informed that "donations can be separated and items can take up to three weeks to appear online." It has now been several weeks since I submitted my donation, three of my four posted items are no longer on the site (hopefully sold), and I can only imagine that the nicer items (ie, two designer dresses with tags still on purchased only a few months ago) are gone forever and my school will never see a penny from those items. I don't know if it's company-wide, or just a few "bad apple" employees, but I suspect someone either consigned or kept my nicer items. I talked to another rep today who said "she takes feedback seriously" and "there is a problem with one of our warehouses that is affecting many schools." This is a great business concept, but I believe it is being poorly executed and preying on those of us who want to help underfunded schools. I'm making it my mission to spread the word. I'm sorry I "donated" to this shady business, and won't make the mistake again. I hope the proper regulatory agencies look into their practices and set things straight. Keeping "donations" is stealing. Clothes, monetary, or otherwise. So before you consider donating, remember that this company is not a non-profit, and until they legitimately deliver what they advertise (i. E., ALL of the clothes people send in are sold and the monies used to help their school of choice, not just select items), they are running a scam.
Hi Andrea, Turi here with Schoola. I'm so sorry to hear about your negative experience. If your issue is still not resolved, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at social@schoola.com so I can look into it further. Out of 3 orders, something was missing from every single one, they also overcharged me $30. Terrible site.

We have had several people donate items to this company and our school has not seen a penny of the proceeds.
Hi Melissa, Thanks for reaching out. Our customer care team can look into the donations you're inquiring about--simply email hello@schoola.com. Please note, due to the volume of donations we've received in the fall, we are currently a couple months behind on processing donations, but hope to catch up soon. We appreciate your patience. Thanks, Turi
