I have been forced to debate with customer service on more than 3 occasions. These always led to an insult thrown at me as a "inferior person" at the end. I give them the information I have from their website and I am told it can't possibly be correct, I am wrong! My records have been deleted twice. No notifications about it begin hold or something has to be done by me. I just desperately call when my aged mother is almost out of medicine and her pills haven't arrived yet. I get excuses and reasons I have screwed up and insults. Really? Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Disheveled mess of business practices. Only one star because I can't put 0.
I have never dealt with a more inefficient, customer-unfriendly, unprofessional, and all-around terrible company. It is a shame that any company would use this pathetic group to do anything for them. Apparently, the companies that utilize OptumRX are interested in abusing and defrauding their employees. If possible, avoid this company at all cost.
I have had a prescription for several years set up as a 90 day refill. They decided they needed a longer processing time so changed my refill timing to every 60 days? WTH? A 90 day supply delivered to me every 60 days? That is way too much.
I had to go in and change to refill by manual request and they managed to screw that up - drawing out the processing time to several weeks. So I ran out. Have ordered an emergency supply from my doctor while awaiting the delivery which still hasn't come. Hope to get another emergency order to tide me over.
I'm a liver transplant patient, so I've dealt with a lot of pharmacies before but these guys are the worst. I always keep at least $50 in my account for my meds ($15 is my co-pay) They had my zip code for my debit card wrong and kept sending me my pills but did not inform me the charges weren't going through. I ended up with over $100 in charges which with a $15 is about 6 months. When I asked what they were going to do for me since as far as I knew I had been paying, all I got was a generic bs empathy statement from an outsourced call center. I won't even mention all the times my pills were late or I was in the phone for hours with customer service because no one could do a simple refill. Avoid this company at all costs
I was forced to take Optum mail order by my union. I have been on the phone nearly everyday this month as I am being given conflicting emails and stories from Optum representatives. You cannot believe an email or representative. This is the worst run service ever! Conversely, my husbands orders usually come but he's constantly told to call back to speak to a representative. When he does call, they have no clue as to why he's calling! Do not sign up with this company. Not reliable at all!
Optum rx could care less about customer service or anything else for that matter. I have yet to receive a shipment on time. These guys are giving the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. How is this even legal! When you dial the number for the pharmacy they ask if you would like to participate in a survey after the call. I'm sitting here right now on hold with them. It's kind of hard to end the call when they don't even answer it. This is absolutely ridiculous!
For many years I've been taking Januvia and with downloadable coupon with previous insurance paid $5.00 for month supply.
Now those idiots stepped up, declared that Step 2 medication so I have to prove them something and left me with 90 days supply and no alternatives for $120.00.
If to compare $5.00 x 3 = $15.00 and $120.00 it is a rip off.
Those people have no concerns or compassion to people.
Their associates are rude on the phone.

Can I give a negative star review? Called multiple times to get them to issue prescriptions and then blamed providers for them not being approved. Funny I never had any issue getting them through Walgreens before... ever? And when I didn't have them for a MONTH (dangerous) they would not let a local pharmacy dispense the prescriptions. And now they won't submit the insurance authorization on a new prescription sent oh you know a week ago. How is this company even legal? BBB take these guys down please.
This company is evil and profit-focused. Their standard practice is denying prescription medications that insured users need, all in the name of profit. They make it so difficult to get the medicines you need to be covered. As they are part of United Healthcare, it's easy to see that they are profit-focused, not focused on helping they're insured. My experience with Optumrx has been very poor, but unfortunately, they give you no choice. Watch the movie "Sicko" and you'll understand how profit-driven the health insurance industry is.
This company is poorly trained and very uninformed... my son has been on the same exact med, same exact insurance however EVERYTIME I reorder they have a problem processing his refill... it usually takes at least a week to get things figured out each time. I have talked with there resolution team several times and they assured me that everythinh would go smoothly after talking/dealing with them... WRONG! I have the same problem still to this day... I HATE this company so much but cannot switch due to the stupid primary insurance company my son has... im stuck and nothing changes, honestly I hate calling them each month so much it gives me extreme anxiety and a massive migraine. Getting a script refilled should not be this hard
OptumRX is in business to serve their C-suite and shareholders. They do not care about the members/consumers who they are simply stealing money from without providing service.
Here is my experience over more than 5 years of being on an insurance plan that has chosen OptumRX as the pharmacy provider.
1) they find low cost shipping options that harm your experience as the customer.
2) They do everything they can not to approve medicine's your physician tells you to take and that improve your life. If they think you can do something else, they dont care about side effects, they only care about the lowest cost drug.
3) They make you speak to people in a foreign country who do not know how to handle any of the issues. Again horrible customer experience, but guess what costs them less.
This company should go out of business... but instead they print money at your expense.
I have trying for four months to get my heart medication delivered through their company (associated with my AARP insurance). Three times I successfully signed up online only to have the subscriptions disappear. It took two phone calls to get one of them started and it was delivered shortly after I ran out. The second prescription displayed online and scheduled for delivery and then it just disappeared. When I called to get it sent, I was given no explanation as to why it failed to send and was charged for "expedited" delivery that will still take a week to arrive.
I gave it two stars because this first prescription is free. I have no idea what it will cost me for the next delivery.
Sitting on hold again. It is so hard to order a refill from them. It is something I dread every month. If we did not need this medication, I would never go through them again. I am going to see if there is any way to move the prescription. I have already expressed this several times, only to be placed on hold again. Hopefully this will help someone else, go to another pharmacy.
The medication that I have been taking for several years, and need is about to run out in days. Generally, I have a several week buffer to prevent running out, but not now. Over a month ago, Optim Rx sent my meds to the wrong location, I contacted that post office via phone and had them sent back- I was 900 miles away. The next attempt was misguided by a non English speaking rep from the Philippines, and my last request was shipped yesterday to a previous address where I haven't lived in over a year... after 20 calls and unable to reach a supervisor, I was told too bad- Amazon please put them out of business!
I have been fighting with them for almost a month to get a prescription that we previously had through them. Our insurance changed and had to make it as a new script. They have the WORST customer service ever. They constantly drop the call if you say yes to survey. Promise to call you back but won't. Pretend they are contacting insurance or drs and really don't (as verified by both ins. And dr that they never got a call). Every time I called (20+ calls) They came up with some other reason they couldn't process the script. Meanwhile my husband is now back to being in severe pain and unable to move as well as he was while on this med. All they ever say is I'm sorry, but still wont listen or help. Thats when you can actually understand them because they send their calls to a foreign call center. Worst company ever! If you can go elsewhere I would suggest doing so.
If I didn't have to deal with these idiots, I certainly would NOT! For over 2 years I had spent hours on the phone, speaking with supervisors who said they put a note in my file to not auto-ship meds without my consent, yet they kept shipping them, even though the notes were there. Finally, had to cancel my credit card I used for them. It seems that no transaction with them can ever go smoothly - now I find that they are out of my blood-pressure medicine which I need daily, so they say it's MY responsibility to go back to my doctor to have a new prescription sent to my local CVS store, and now I have to go pick it up. Saying you're sorry just doesn't cut it when you're dealing with people's health and lives. If you want to treat this as a hobby rather than a serious business, you should not be in it!
I was an Optum member for a nightmarish year and will never use them again. They let me run out of a vital medication TWICE and lied constantly. Completely inept, dishonest and incompetent. Steer clear!
I've been through 4 customer service reps just today, and every one of them is hopeless. They're barely trained and Optum has not given them any tools to resolve issues with. I'll be asking if I can use a different specialty pharmacy. Anyone but them. I've been dealing with it this for over 2 hours, just today.
Call me every other day telling about some issue as to why my prescription did not get sent! Why in the hell would any doctor use this company. Made me rethink my doctor. Trust me, any good review is the owner or an employee. The supervisor I just had on the phone told me that she knows their service is terrible and she doesn't know what to tell me! United Health Group should be embarrassed to be associated with Optumrx.
I don't write reviews, but I felt I had to in order to help other people. I decided to try them for the first time, BIG mistake! Customer Service has no clue. Was quoted 7 different prices on a medication. They has my prescription for 3 weeks. The day the medication was supposed to be processed and mail out, was told the medication was long term out if stock and the price to wait for it was 100% more than what I was told. I am running out if medication in 6 days, and hoping the retail pharmacy will be able to order it in time. It has been a nightmare dealing with this company.
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
