A week ago, I purchased two dresses for a work- related event being held tonight. Last night (one day shy of a week post- order) I was informed that my order had not shipped and no date was given as to when it would ship. The 10% off "gift" offered by Modcloth (to make things better) seemed like a slap in the face- considering the fact that I now have nothing to wear- and was not given any time to come up with something. At the very least, I could have been notified earlier- thereby giving me time enough to find something else. Instead, what I received as an empty apology and a mere pittance off that can't make up for the stress and frustration caused by a company that obiously should not be in business. Stay away from Modcloth!
I ordered shoes that ended up not fitting. There wasn't a return shipping label in my box, so I had to wait to receive that to mail it out. Then, once I mailed them, they only gave me store credit! I've never heard of any company only giving you store credit just because it's been over 30 days since you received your order. I hate all of their other items so now that is $72 that went to complete waste! So mad!
Over the years I've read not great reviews about modcloth. The reviews mostly warned from the price vs. quality issue, that is, bad quality items for a high price. Still, I decided to make an order and ordered three items. All of them were disappointing in some way, all of them were cheaply made, and yes, overpriced for their quality. I am going to return my order, but still, not happy.
Wow, I'm so dissappointed to see so many negative Modcloth reviews. I started shopping with Modcloth in 2013. I have ordered many dresses from them that are great quality. I have only had to return items twice. Each time I had no issues contacting a representative of the company. Their number is listed on their website and an English speaking person helped me. The money I spent was placed back on my debit card in a timely manner as well. I will continue to be a modcloth supporter.
I ordered a dress for my daughter who lives in Puerto Rico. She had chosen it for engagement photos. Unfortunately, mail, especially packages, tends to "disappear" in P. R. Since there was a tracking number, my daughter was able to confirm that the postal service HAD delivered it, but not to her address. After numerous attempts to get the package back, it was obvious that whoever received the dress was keeping it. I called ModCloth and explained all this, and they sent her out a new dress, at their expense for both the dress and overnight shipping (I had it mailed to me in WI and then sent it to her with a visiting brother.) They will more than make up for this cost to them as I and my family will be very, very loyal to them and recommend them to any and everyone. Unless you live in Puerto Rico!
This rating is for their customer service. My ModCloth delivery was stolen off of my porch. When I called ModCloth, Anna, the customer service rep, was extremely understanding and accommodating. Unfortunately, 2 of the items I had ordered were no longer in stock, but she offered me the option of re-shipping the others and refunding the out of stock items, or just refunding the entire order. I was very impressed with their customer service. I don't think many companies would go out of their way like this to make sure the customer is happy. Thank you, ModCloth!
I bought a dress for $90, and it began falling apart the first time I wore it. Modcloth issued me a 20% refund, but as the dress kept unravelling, I got angry that I have even paid ~$70 for such awful quality. The customer service folks at Modcloth--seemingly all recent college grads with no real skills--refused to do any more for me, even after I sent photos of the unravelling and missing buttons (after wearing the dress about 5 times, only!).
I will never buy from Modcloth again. They have absolutely no pride in their products, and no value of their customers.
Hi, Elyse. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and any disappointment regarding that product. Please know that I have shared your feedback with the appropriate team, and we are always working to improve our clothing quality, to make it the best possible. If you have any outstanding questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to send us an email at caresocialteam@modcloth.com. We'll be happy to see if there is anything else we can do to assist.
I've ordered heaps of things from Modcloth and never had any problems! I also read all the reviews before ordering and I've been very happy with most of the things I've received. The customer service is excellent and they have a huge range. I do feel that some of the clothes are too expensive though...
I've purchased several items from them over the last 5 years. Great customer service! Returns/exchanges are a lot easier to do now which is much nicer. I've had to exchange several items and have never had an issue. The prices are a bit higher (similar items can be found at shopruche) but you're paying for all the "extra" stuff. I would recommend.
I was gifted a voucher for Modcloth and on attempting to use this at the online checkout, the code on the voucher is invalid. I have so far emailed Modcloth twice regarding my concerns, with only their automated email as a response. I am an international customer, therefore email is the primary method of contact to Modcloth. I am extremely disappointed with Modcloth's customer service and having been a previous paying customer, I am unlikely to purchase from Modcloth again or recommend to friends and family.
Cute clothes crappy site! Don't get sucked in ladies!
If I could give a negative star I would! I had ordered a few dresses from ModCloth in hopes of wearing one to an upcoming wedding. It wasn't until I contacted them that they told me that they were restructuring of their shipping facility that they will not be able to ship my order in time. There was no notice of this at the time of my order and it should have arrived by now if normal. Then when it finally DID arrive it was HALF A DRESS! The entire top was missing... and this isn't a two piece, either! Ladies be very careful of ordering from ModCloth and they just lost a customer!
The clothes looked so cute. And ordering was easy. But, the sweater was a cheap import item that was way too small even though it said "true to size".
Then the return process:
1. I have to pay for shipping
2. The FedEx label wouldn't print.
3. Chat Help was NOT helpful. Had no other option but wait 24 hours for Fed Ex.
4. Then the Chat Helper was rude when I checked back on the Fed Ex issue.
I ordered a bag from ModCloth for that cost almost $60. After gentle use for 1 year, the lining completely ripped out in multiple places, making the bag unusable. I contacted the company, and they offered me a 10% off coupon with free shipping. Not exactly what I call standing by their product. I called them, and they offered me 25% ($14 something dollars) store credit as a one time, extreme courtesy- not exactly what I call standing by your product. I ordered a dress, and the quality was very poor for that, too. I would not recommend anyone purchase from this company. Their quality is poor, and they do not stand by their products.
I have bought from Modcloth several times, and have had really good luck ordering clothes. The customer reviews are extremely helpful in knowing if an item runs large or small, and I like the ability for customers to upload photos of themselves in the outfit, so I can see what those clothes look like on real life women instead of models. I haven't had to return anything yet, so I have no experience as far as their customer service is concerned.
As someone who lived through the 60's and 70's I can tell you these are not vintage clothes. Yes, a very few of them like the wide leg jeans and a couple of tops do look like 70's fashion, but for someone who is looking for truly vintage clothing, this isn't it.
Hi, Becky. Thank you for reaching out with your honest feedback. While we do like to offer many vintage-inspired items, that those are at the roots of our company's founding, we are not a straight-forward vintage shop. I will be sure to share your feedback with the appropriate teams.
I genuinely love the clothing design of this company, BUT every single item I've purchased has SHRUNK, either by huge or not so huge amounts (although still noticeably). Even after washing the items on delicate and in cold water, they still shrunk. Which is very maddening since they are not cheap! The one tunic I ordered was a flannel type with sleeves that were supposed to button to keep them held up, well one arm was missing the hole for the button!
I recently ordered 5 dresses during their big clearance sale. BIG mistake since I can't return the clearance items. All of the items are very cheaply made and would barely be worth the 70% off prices. If any of them fit. I ordered everything in the smallest sizes they carry. I'm 5'4" 32B bra, 25" waist, and 35" hips roughly. I checked the sizing chart they provide for each item and according to it all of the items should have fit. Wrong. Only one dress was not too large and it was XXS which is not even on their chart. The busts in all of the dresses were large (I would say you'd need to be a full C or D to flatter) which is not very consistent with a size 0 or XS. The waists were also consistently 2 inches too big or more. 1 in 5 success rate is kind of a bust when the styles I bought usually flatter my frame when ordered from other sites.
One thing with mail order companies is they have to be genius at handling returns. Modcloth is the slowest at processing returns you pay shipping on the return (unless exchanging) wait 5-7 business days for it to arrive back to Modcloth and then 4-9 business days to process a refund. Yoy could forget in 16 days. Hopefully you are satisfied with your purchase. I am not willing to gamble again.
They have great customer service!
I got my order in 3 days and I love my dress!
But what I like most about them is their marketing. They show a variety of body sizes in their pictures and are welcoming to all people who have a desire to wear dresses. Kudos to you Modcloth!
For a company that prides themselves on body positivity almost none of the clothing I purchased fit. They also do not do international exchanges. I feel really disappointed that I spent all this money, waited almost a full month, paid $137 custom fee on top of the over $300 I spent on clothing. I will not be buying from this website again. This is unfortunate because I really loved the look of the clothing. My suggestion is only order from here if you're ordering from the states.
So sorry to hear about your experience, Jenn! We know that customs/brokerage fees are a big pain point for our International customers and we are constantly looking to improve that. If you ever want to try again, I definitely recommend reaching out to our ModStylists to ensure you are purchasing the perfect size! I'm certain they'll be able to find your styles for you in your exact size. You can find more information on them here: https://www.modcloth.com/modstylists
Answer: The quality is about 80% rubbish (based on 10 purchases and only keeping 2 items). Hardly any of the dresses are lined and they're made with very cheap fabric, they're also way more expensive than they used to be but the quality hasn't improved. The stitching is usually uneven and the cloth cuts are terrible. You have to pay to return things, and from Australia it often costs more in postage to return something than the item itself, so I wouldn't bother.
Answer: Hi, Priscilla. We do not currently send out a physical catalog. I'm sorry for any disappointment!
Answer: Hey, Leslie! No need to worry- returns are pretty easy, especially if you're in the U.S., where we can provide a free return shipping label. At this moment, we are just a little behind on getting returns processed, due to heavy volumes during our recent sales, but we're working on getting caught up, ASAP! Our Customer Care team can also always help with any returns questions you have, as well as checking on returns statuses. You can reach them from 8am-11pm EST Monday-Friday, and 8am-9pm EST Saturdays, at modcloth.com/help!
Answer: Yes, there are full cash refunds and online store credit for the returns. It is annoying, but you would go into the purchase history and there is a section to return whatever items you want. Then when you have completed that section there should be a return Label paper that you print out from your email. It is a fedex paper. The returns should be free.
Answer: Used to be great. Horrible now. Never true to size. Cheaply made from China.
Answer: Be sure to refer to the sizing chart for your size. Also keep in mind that some items are in European or Asian sizes. Be sure to read the full desription of the item to know if you need to size up or down.
Hi, Erin. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I sincerely apologize for any trouble with this order. I know that the shipping delays during this past holiday season were frustrating, and I am very sorry for the disappointment. Please rest assured that I have shared your words with the appropriate team, and if there is anything we can do to help, we'll be glad to assist at modcloth.com/help.
