Home Depot Reviews Summary

Home Depot's reputation is marked by a mix of positive and negative customer experiences. Many customers appreciate the wide selection of products and the knowledgeable staff, which contribute to a convenient shopping experience. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to installation issues, return policies, and delayed deliveries. Customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and a perceived lack of support, leading to frustration and a sense of being undervalued. Overall, while the company offers a robust product range, its customer service approach appears inconsistent, impacting overall satisfaction.

Delivery
November 28, 2020

Fridge and dishwasher arrived on time. Old appliances were taken away. Two delivery operators. The older fellow was all business, respectful. Both wore masks but younger fellow had his around his chin only, mouth and nose exposed. Very disappointed in his lack of respect for coming into my home during Covid without due care. I would have given more stars except for that fact.

Terrible customer service
November 25, 2020

I am very disappointed with Home Depot. I bought a patio door on October 22nd along with installation through them. They told me that an installer would contact me in 48hrs (2 business days) to set up the installation. After 3weeks of trying to get ahold of answers and the installers... they finally told me the contractor was having surgery and could no longer help. Two weeks later they still never contacted me with a plan! At this point I found my own contractor to install the door, but needed it to be delivered to our house! Home Depot wouldn't even give us free delivery after such poor customer service!

We will NEVER do business with Home Depot again. From the moment we tried to place our order it was error after error on Home Depots end. They over promise and under deliver on everything they told us. The communication is so poor with this company. 90 days after we placed our order they still can't find it. Strongly encourage you to do your business at Menards or Lowes.

Can't return appliances
November 14, 2020

My 82 year old mother bought a dishwasher that she didn't need. It was delivered on Wednesday and we tried returning it on Saturday. Unopened and unused. But The Home Depot does not return appliances.

It turns out your not buying from The Home Depot but you giving them your money. The company who delivers the appliance is who you are buying from.

The Home Depot calls the company "Them ". I asked whom is "Them ". They are a delivey company.

The solution that The Home Depot sudjusted was try selling it on your own.

DON'T BUY APPLIANCES FROM THE HOME DEPOT

Their shippers
November 13, 2020

If you buy something from HD and it needs to be delivered from Spirit Logistics? Don't do it! Worst company ever for delivering your merchandise! Terrible shipping company. Don't believe me? Go look at their reviews so you're better off hiring someone yourself to get it in a timely manner!

I am beyond angry! It's just an horrible experience. We bought a dishwasher at our local home depot in August 29. It got delivered sept 9. It took another 3 weeks of us calling them to ask about installation ( which we paid for). 1 guy came and said he could install anything because he could touch any plumbing item. Then we waited fir another 2 weeks calling them. Then another came who actually opened the delivered box. And guess what the dishwasher they delivered to us is BROKEN and has scratch... What is this? We are now in Nov 4. We still gave that useless box in the middle of our living room. I am so disappointed! It just add useless stress in my life. I wish I went to Lowes or on Amazon to buy that dishwasher!

Ordered 11 cabinets. Four of the eleven cabinets were damaged but the boxes they were shipped in had no damage. Seems the factory just sent me 4 damaged cabinets they had sitting around. Then of the 4 replacement cabinets 2 hard damage with no damage of the shipping cartons. Thee cabinets are of terrible quality and I am shocked at Home Depot for continuing to sell this product. I THINK HOME DEPOT NEEDS TO STRAIGHTEN UP AND QUIT SELLING THESE CRAPPY CABINETS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!

In store experience
October 29, 2020

I paid for concrete mix. I have picked 10 bags. 32 were left to pick it up at later date. By the time I cam back to do a pick up some guy Stepen assistant manager in Bullhead City AZ was totally empty headed that you literally could not listen to him. From excuse that I already got refund, then that I have picked all bags, then that there is no more stock available today, then go to another store to get it, then I will give yoiu refund and at the and three isno refun. Shh I forgot I was sent refund for 3 bags out of 32 I didn't pick up. Next I called store manager ADAM and I requested meeting face to face. I told him I will be there in 45-60 minutes. He told me he is there untill 3PM. When I showed there within 50 minutes I was told he went to lunch. Noone could get in touch with him. What a crap. I have been there to pick up merchandise that I paid for and I had not gotten it. No money no respect no knowledge how and who to speak, then I called customer service and they told me I can go and pick up refun. After I drove there twice and have to go there third time. It cost me and extra to pay for gas $40 half a day driving back and forth no compensation lots of disrespect and waisted time and I had to buy additional merchandise from another store and extra bags at higher price. You dont do that to the loyal customer. This is the worst experience I have experienced in Home Depot. Stay away from that store. And when I called manager at 2:25PM he was already gone. And he was supposed to be untill 3:00PM what a life and lies.

Never order
October 29, 2020

Ordered a fridge 2 months ago and has been posted delivery 6 times now. A week ago they were suppose to deliver... I heard a knocked and yelled from another room and level in my house for my boyfriend to go answer the door... welp they left and called the cops instead! So this week they were suppose to deliver it again. Got a call and told them I was ready 30 min before the delivery. About an hour later they still never showed up. I got a phone call saying they could reach me, knocked on the door and talked to my neighbors. THEY DID NONE OF THAT. My neighbors were not home, and what would they say anyways? Her car is home so it's likely she is home? Plus I told them I was ready for them when they called. I swear they NEVER SHOWED UP. The neighbor thing is bull$#*! and sounds like an excuse. Never order from homedepot.

Masks
October 27, 2020

While most customers are wearing masks I am troubled by the number without masks in the Forest Park OH location. I believe it is the obligation of Home Depot to protect their employees and customers from the those who choose to put others at risk. I recommend they post someone at the door to enforce their rule that "masks are obligatory".
We all deserve to maintain our health, Home Depot does not seem to have the will to support this premise.

July 4th, 2020 weekend, we purchased a 4 piece appliance package; delivered about 1-2 weeks later. Boxes appeared to be in good shape upon delivery. They were stored inside our main home, boxed, as the backyard guest home was still in construction.

Two months later, our builder dollied the appliances out with my wife present. The refrigerator box was removed and there was an 8-10" significantly crushed-in area of the refrigerator. The dishwasher had mild blemishes on the front surface as well.

We immediately let the Spring Cypress (Cypress, TX) Home Depot know of the refrigerator issue and their response was, "Sorry it's been over 48 hours. Nothing we can do." They then said, "Call Samsung." And, "At delivery, you have 48 hours to register any concerns."

We never were advised, informed, or told by anyone at any time, that Home Depot has a 48hr return appliance policy upon delivery. We never signed anything nor was it ever presented to us that that was their policy with appliances. We were made aware of their appliance policy after the fact. Very disappointed by Home Depot's gross omission as it should have been clearly stated to the buyer very easily. It wasn't though.

That same day, my wife drove to the Home Depot, spoke with management, and after 2 hours and then a few more hours spent on phone calls trying to resolve this major issue, Home Depot said they would take the refrigerator back only by charging us a 15% restocking fee and also charge us $79 for picking up the refrigerator! That is unconscionable. We wanted what we paid for; an undamaged refrigerator.

It is unreal that Home Depot summarily blew us off. They acted as though we were an inconvenience. After lots of time and energy on my wife's part, they grudgingly allowed the return less the fees mentioned above. All we wanted/anticipated was a replacement of the same product. After all, it was an unused, brand new refrigerator, delivered damaged under their entire control.

How does this billion-dollar company get away with screwing people over like this? It is a brand new refrigerator, which we ordered in good faith. They took the money, delivered the product, and then washed their hands of any responsibility.

It arrived crushed and yet we are penalized and blown off by management. Had we known of the 48 hr policy, we would have removed all the boxes immediately upon delivery to inspect the product. Nevertheless, Home Depot is shameless and demonstrated its easy ability to take advantage of their small customers.

Learned a hard life lesson. "Where doers get more done" does not refer to Home Depot employees, warranty, nor products.
They offer shiny commercials of cheap products, training, and convey concern for customers.
Let's face it, most of their products come from China, known for cheap things that don't last.
Purchased a GE kitchen package in August 2018 with extended warranty. The range push button panel broke in September 2020. After three visits from their warranty partner, National Platinum Service, and replace the of two parts they deemed in 'unrepairable'. GE disavows the product as out of warranty, refer to warranty company Asurion. They will not assist in recovery or replacement. HD will not assist as they only sold the product.
What did I pay for?
My private message on Messenger was not answered. My calls have gone no where. My letters to upper management, 4, in Atlanta are un answered. Again, what did I pay for?
HD staff, products, and warranty work together for their benefit but NOT the customer. Good luck, look elsewhere.

Never order from them.
October 15, 2020

You'll get no garuntee of delivery of your appliance and customer service is non existent. They need to learn from companies like amazon, walmart, target as to how to operate. They're a sinking ship if they don't get their delivery together.

Delivery Issues:
October 12, 2020

Delivery Issues: This is the first time we ordered online with your company. The bed was delivered and was left outside, in front of the building. We have two lobbies, and they did not even trouble to access the first lobby to ring the bell nor event call to notify the customer. We are quite disappointed with Home Depot. We will stick with other reliable companies. We don't anticipate you to come to our house. Please show some regard, and don't discharge our merchandise in the street.
RE: BED: We've not yet unboxed the bed-we're waiting on the mattress to deliver. We will update once we assemble the bed, and, try it.

I took an item in to return that I had purchased a couple days earlier. I had the receipt. They had poor lighting and fit was not clear where to stand but I was the only person waiting. However they choose to wait until other customers came up and helped them first. They were rude for no apparent reason. I just put the kitem on the counter with the receipt and left. I would rather lose my $45 than shop there again.
This store has always had mediocre customer service in the past too. They are now my last resort for stuff I need.

Each time I go on Home Depot.com I see more unavailable items listed than available ones. I'm spending time scrolling through stuff they cant even sell me. Some items listed aren't even available for delivery only or delivery to a store. This is very time consuming and frustrating when you need a certain thing but have to search through a bunch of mess to find it. On another note most of the time the "in stock" counts are way way off as to what's available in the stores as well on many many items. You can not count on the information on the Home Depot web site. Frustrating :(

Do not order appliances here if you actually want appliances. Look, I know everywhere is having shortages, especially on freezers. But I purchased a dishwasher and oven back in June, and still don't have them. I think I am now on my 6th delivery date. At one point, I even had to purchase a different, more expensive oven as I was told (2-3 months after purchase) the other was no longer available, ever. Well apparently this one isn't either. My newest delivery date is November 20th. More than 5 months after purchase, and has Home Depot tried to make any amends? Nope, they just sit on my cash using it while I have nothing. Not one apology and their phone system is terrible. At least if I'd gone to a smaller business, they would care about my business, and give me real answers and real delivery dates.
