Getaroom's website is deceptive, misleading and deceitful. The price displayed for 2 nights was $116, which was slightly less than other sites ($68/night on Booking, Expedia, Priceline). Once I entered credit card information, the charge tripled to $343.95. I immediately called to void the charge. The service representative quoted their "no cancellation" policy. This is not a traveler friendly company who wants to keep you as a customer. Using "no cancellation for any reason" policy to justify their outrageous upcharges is certainly a sign they know this business is a scam.

I booked the room with relative ease, and unfortunately that was the best thing about the hotel, we arrive to check in and the room they put us in first has a tub that's half full of dirty water because it was clogged and tools on the bathroom floor. The room they moved us to had a tv that had the volume stuck too low to hear so we were unable to relax in the room. When I requested help from the front desk they said they would send maintenance, which never happened. There's also the issue of there not being a working pool or free breakfast in the morning, both of which are things I ALWAYS make sure are included when I book a hotel, yet when we were there we were offered nothing more than a %15 coupon for dennys, which kind of defeats the purpose of breaker being included with the room. The last issue was that at 1:30 in the morning my wife and I were woken up by gunshots that sounded like they were practicing right outside our window. I don't care how much of a discount if offered, this was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I could've pulled over at any number of motels on the side of the road and paid less for the same experience.

Because of the rate, I knew I wasn’t going to be staying at The Hampton but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that the amenities listed are actually provided.

We had to cancel our reservation at the Stockton Waterfront Hotel due to a medical emergency. (Burst Appendix) Get a Room refused a refund when there was a documented medical emergency. Just as importantly the hotel had plenty of time to fill the room or to provide a credit for future stays. In fact when we called the hotel they had no record of the reservation or our names so the reservation hadn't even left Get a Room yet, but Get a Room argued that they had already paid the hotel.

Get a room customer service person was great though. That's why they get a "2" Seemed to try. Policy Sucks.

Called and reserved a room for my daughter. I gave all my information and thought all was good. When my daughter went to check in they said they had NONE of my information for her room. She had to use her own card to book the room. When I checked my card and her card had both been charged for the one night stay. I had been charged twice. I have yet to be contacted to correct the mistake.

I had booked a room at a place back in March. I was charged over 55% of the room charge for some Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees. Today, I needed to add another room and checked the pricing. The same charges and fees are now less than 30% of the room charge (same price for the rooms). Back when I made the original reservation, I did not pay attention to the ridiculous fees, but after seeing how they changed so much it makes me question what the heck are these fees for?

Because I didn't know any better and had no other way to make a reservation at that place.

I booked a standard room. Making sure that the man who I was on the phone with, made the room close to the lobby & everything was accessible for my handicap mom. We got here, checked in. Our room was on the 2nd floor pretty far down the hall. Also, nothing about it showed that it was handicap accessible. This was the last thing I wanted to deal with when I got to the hotel. I also feel bad for the staff! They had to do all of these extra things because Get A Room didn't do their part! It was very disappointing.

Update:
A very helpful customer service employee called me 1 hour after writing my review. She is going to review my original phone call and get back to me this week. In the meantime, she did refund me the ridiculously high hotel fees (she agreed they were a lot higher than normal). I updated my rating by one star until my case is fully resolved. I really appreciate her quick response.

I never write poor reviews because I just like to praise places I really enjoyed but I feel like I need to let people know about how this company will scam you out of money. First of all when I called the number, I thought it was the actual hotel I was wanting to stay at (not a third party company). I was calling to see if it would be worth the extra $20 to do the buffet since it might just be a grab and go situation due to Covid restrictions. The rate I was calling about was around $117. On the hotel website it was around the same price (under $120). I asked if they did a AAA discount and he said their rate was the best so I just went ahead a booked over the phone thinking I was talking to the actual hotel. Well after I get the receipt emailed to me I realized it was through a third party and that they charged me $179 per night and the hotel fees were around $176!?!? How are the fees as much as one night stay?! I called customer service and they only offered me a 15% discount which was a slap in the face. I asked them to talk to a manager but she said she would file a complaint for me. I asked them to listen to the recording of my phone call with the original guy to see that I was not aware they were charging me $179 per night and that the hotel fees were as much as a nights stay. No one has gotten back to me about going back to listen to the original phone call. They did confirm that they will be refunding me the 15% but again I feel like that is not good enough since I was WAY over charged. Please be careful when you see this company. They are non refundable as well so this is how they get you... once you realize you have been scammed then it's too bad because they say that you are locked in. I have learned my lesson and will never use getaway.com again and will be more careful when calling hotels on a google search of the hotel I'm looking for. We did get to stay at the hotel but at a ridiculously inflated price.

I booked a two night stay through hotels.com and needed to remove one night. Getting the change was a frustrating situation and I needed to speak to two additional companies to do so. First I had to book a new reservation for one night and then talk to a different company to cancel the first reservation. Not American speakers so haard to understand the staff. Really poor experience.

Charged us over $40 more than they said, hotel wasn't even booked using our card, was booked using a one time prepaid card according to front desk. Called back after getting confirmation email and they wouldn't even listen to anything I said, and blamed the hotel saying they wouldn't let them cancel. Refunded us $49 dollars after this reviews were posted. Changing from 1 star to 2.

So a room had already been booked at the hotel, they left it up as available on getaroom. When I tried to book the room I got an error. So I tried again, this time it said the room was already booked. I found a different room and everything worked correctly. However now I have 3 charges on my credit card. Their support tells me they'll get rid of two of the charges, sure hope so...

Difficult to talk to a live agent. Have to be pretty persistent with the AI on the phone.

GetARoom should provide the ACTUAL amount that will be charged to your credit card when booking. I paid more here than I would've on other sites, but chose this site because of its (dishonest) lower price. GetARoom advertised the price I could have gotten directly from the hotel and then they added almost a 50% fee on top of that. After weeks of back & forth and a negative review here, I received an $85 credit. Ask for and keep your hotel receipt.

I goofed on dates and needed to add a night. Recorded message listed revise reservation but when I tried to do so said can't be done. Human supposedly took care of it by cancelling old reservation and making new one but when I got confirmation new reservation was on the other side of the state and old reservation not cancelled. Finally got hold of young lady who fixed everything.

Do NOT use this company. They added exorbitant fees to the booking which they never detailed until after they had the credit card information. Even though the hotel offered to refund the purchase, they told me that no refund was possible. They also use Priceline to make their reservations so you are paying commission on 2 booking agents so the fee was 2X the hotel fee booked directly

A short time after this review was posted I was refunded the entire amount of my purchase

I made reservations thru a hotel website complete with pictures etc. I was extremely surprised the next day to call the hotel and found I could not change the reservation since they said it had been made thru a third party called getaroom.com, which I had never heard of. I finally got a copy of my reservation after finding a number for this company on line. They promised a 20% refund for not being able to change but I have not seen anything about that yet on my credit card.

Tip for consumers:
I tried to call the actual phone number and went to the hotel website instead. I am still unclear as to how it happened that a third party made the reservation.

I successfully book my desirable hotel using this agent. Then, I learned that this agent charged a fee which is 50% of the actual cost incurred at the hotel. I thought I was booking a hotel in Cebu on the hotel website but realised at the end of the booking process I was on to getaroom.com. So I declined to confirm. However, the booking was confirmed and getaroom had added nearly $200 to the bill. Sharp Practice I thought but there was nothing I could do. The money was taken from my bank account despite me declining to confirm the booking. Shocking really. John.

Edit #2: the rest of my refund has finally successfully posted to my account. Updated from 1 to 2 stars. Although I am glad I was able to finally get a full refund, Getaroom's deceptive policies combined with the inability access any customer service (without posting reviews on complaint sites), I will not be using them ever again in the future.______________

Edited to add a response to GETAROOM'S multiple requests for me to update my review: I only see a PARTIAL refund processed - I would be happy to revise once I receive the entire refund amount IN FULL (as promised) to ensure it was done properly. Thank you.______________

Didn't realize I wasn't booking through hotel directly, was informed by the hotel that I got overcharged by $125.35. Planning on doing a CC chargeback if I can't get a refund or adjustment. This company's deceptive marketing is appalling. STAY FAR AWAY

I made a mistake in booking travel dates. I needed to book the room for one day longer. The agent I talked to at getaroom was sympathetic but very constrained in the possible resolution of this problem. He couldn't simple add a day to the existing booking because getaroom doesn't allow changes to existing bookings. I suggested canceling & doing a new booking. If you cancel at getaroom you get charged anyway. So I made a new booking of one day & got charged for my mistake. The agent was great but I will be making a point of avoiding getaroom in the future.

**Amendment** - Once I posted the below, Getaroom did call me to resolve my issue and provided a refund of the 'tax'. Very pleasant customer service lady (unlike the original person I called) but slightly disappointingly their customer services are in the USA so the international call cost me £16.

Their website goes out of its way to mislead you! They advertise a cheap rate and it is only on the page that you enter your booking details that they add an imaginary tax, drastically increasing the overall charge. Calling their customer service is a waste or time and effort (despite calling within minutes of my reservation), as they will basically tell you it was your mistake booking with them and they can't be bothered to assist. A disgrace to the travel industry, don't ruin your trip by booking with them!
