If you want to be yelled at or hung up, then use this site. They are so unprofessional. When I googled Holiday Inn, I pushed make a reservation and got these people. They never told me they were not Holiday Inn. They charged me $211 for a room that goes for $101. Once I realized, it was too late. They charged my card and when I complained about something else that happened, they hung up on me! Very bad service and a rip off!
I might have been wise to make the booking with another agency since I believe GetARoom does not allow for cancellation or refund should something occur that would prevent us from travelling to that area at this particular time. Their price was really not much different from some of the competition.
We booked a hotel in London but as we didn't receive a confirmation email we rang back to check all was ok, three times we were cut off. Eventually we spoke to a chap who told us we had booked a hotel in Sussex? No one was able to change the booking, we were cut off again. We called back and the lady was so rude, unhelpful and unable to listen to our problems with out butting in every two seconds. We didn't realise we were talking to a company in America so who knows what this has cost? We are now on the phone to the bank trying to get our money back! Its not looking likely. Two hours of my life I wont get back and £341.80 down the drain!
I RESERVERED A 2 BEDROOM SUITE AND CONFIRMED IT IN AN EMAIL, UPON ARRIVAL AT THE HOTEL I WAS TOLD THAT THE HOTEL DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ONE. I HAD TO TAKE ANOTHER ROOM TO ACCOMMODATE MY FAMILY. UPON RETURN FROM MY VACATION GETAROOM CONTACTED ME TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUNDED ME FOR THE EXTRA ROOM. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Their site is easy to use and very clear. I feel they have competitive prices and great options. This was my 2nd time booking with them.
I was given incorrect information, I asked for hotel you guys charge extra for rooms, allow no cancelation I made 2 reservations 1 I was allowed to cancel other told not allowed i'm still a month out and can't cancel a room that my trip has changed. Once I checked with hotel it was about $150.00 difference in price. When asked if I could give my rewards number was told I would have to go through the hotel. When discussed with hotel about rewards was told can't use them as I book through this company and that's when I found out about the mark up in price. In one case 3times the price. I do a lot of travelling and will spread the word about the rip off with Get a room
I booked a night at a Hilton resort and was charged upfront on my Amex. When I checked out at the Hilton resort in question, they billed my card again. I phoned them and hey advised that GetARoom never provided them with the correct billing information and that I need to phone GetARoom to provide them (Hilton) with correct credit details - and once that is done they can refund me. Phoned GetARoom only to be told that I have to call back in 48 hours - when I asked why I was told its policy. Dialing them a second time now and NOTHING has been done a week later (I received email stating they were working on it). Typing this review while on hold its been 33 minutes and counting. They also advised me via email that "refund amounts are not guaranteed and dependent on the hotel partner's decision in accordance to the terms and conditions of the reservation".
Refund was processed. I don't think they planned to do it after the first call which is why they ask you to call back. Will never use again.
Getaroom does not allow you to modify checkin dates, it requires you to cancel your existing reservation. Once cancelled you are now competing with everyone else. I tried to check in two days later than my original booking (I had free cancellation terms), keeping the same checkout date. Instead of allowing me to do this simple change online, I couldn't even do it talking to getaroom personnel on the phone. They just kept on repeating I would have to cancel then the room would no longer be available. In the end I booked directly with Marriott at a higher rate and canceled with getaroom, still ended saving money than if I had kept the original dates. This kind of inflexibility is absurd in 2019, shame on the company for imposing this on customers. Change your system or you deserve to lose business.
Aside from the hidden fees the only indication that I was paying in US dollars came in a confirmation email after I'd already been charged. Very shady. Won't use this site or recommend it ever.
I had several issues trying to add an additional night to my previously made room reservation. Eventually, customer service reached our and offered to fix the problems. They even held me harmless for the higher cost of the extra night that I was required to make under a separate reservation. Further, they called the hotel to make sure that having 2 separate reservations would not cause me to have to change rooms the last night of my stay. I was very pleased that they took my complaint seriously and proactively figured out a very satisfactory way to fix the issues I had encountered.
I asked the person booking the room if I had reached the front desk at the hotel directly, and he told me I had. As a result I had to pay in full in advance, at a higher rate (I was not allowed discounts from AAA OR AARP), there was a non cancellation policy clause (fortunately I didn't have to cancel), and I didn't get my Best Western rewards.
Booked 3 rooms and got instant confermation,
Hope the rest of the transaction goes smoothly when the rooms are provided and the vacation is complete
Our Get A room Agent misbooked our room. We needed 2 Queens, yet got 2 Doubles. It was an uncomfortable nights stay.
Get a room reached out to us and were very apologetic and made the situation right.
I'm confident the agent will be taught the difference between Double and Queen
Thank you Get A room! Mistakes happen... how you handle it is what counts!
Very good customer service!
Please stay away. You think you are on the hotels website but you are not. They quote rates and when you submit card details they add fees of 181 pounds sterling. You cant cancel as you will not get a refund. This should not be allowed to happen as they have been scamming people for years.
Booked two rooms both with double beds through Getaroom. I called the hotel to discuss a different matter and when they looked up my reservation, they informed me that I was booked for King beds in each room. Should be an easy fix right? Wrong! I've called numerous times to be hung up on twice. I had to submit an online request to try and get this resolved and it's still not. I have people flying in from overseas and these people can't even begin to help. I never use third party sited because of this and now I'm panicking.
After booking my hotel with the site, they failed to pay the hotel. The hotel collected my credit card at check-in like all hotels do. When the hotel didn't get paid, they charged my card. Now getaroom.com will not give me my money back that they did NOT pay the hotel. This is theft! It's over $750! They keep telling me it's "with accounting" or they say that the case # they gave me is not for them! It's a complete scam and customer service is horrific!
I called your number Monday, April 22 with a very straightforward, simple request: to extend by one night a previous reservation I made Nov. 26 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Niagara Falls-Fallsview. This seemed to baffle the two or perhaps even three agents with whom I spoke, although after 34 minutes, 49 seconds I was told everything was taken care of. The next day, confirmed today by my credit card company, I was charged for the two days I had already paid for, two additional days NOT what I requested and a third charge for three days that included the two previously paid for. The total amount mis-charged was $3052. 56! Today I called the hotel reservations desk, having cancelled all three reservations your people screwed up, and started from scratch. I was told by someone at "getaroom" that I would be getting a full refundbut frankly I have no confidence whatsoever that will happen
You directed me to your site when I tried to go directly to the Renaissance Hotel and never identified yourself as GetARoom, which I discovered after booking. Very unethical, I will be cancelling.
While searching on my smartphone for the website of a hotel I have stayed at many times over the years (Crowne Plaza Lake Placid), I opened the link that appeared to be the official hotel website. I had no reason to doubt that it was, as I am pretty experienced in web-searching, shopping, and making reservations, and I avoid any paid ad-sponsored sites. I got on the website, which had all the reservation features and made a week's stay at the hotel. Later, because other family would be coordinating a stay at the same time, I needed to change the reservation to the following week. Called the tel# in the emailed receipt and got a person calling from a noisy room, who never identified herself as being with "getaroom.com," and she said she could not change the reservation, but could cancel and rebook for one night stay fee. I objected, and she said to call the hotel directly to see if "they will waive the fee." I called hotel and she confirmed I had booked with a 3rd party provider, and I went back to emailed receipt and saw that it was getaroom.com. She said people often get tricked because their website simulates the hotel's and does not identify itself properly. She said to call getaroom and ask them to call her, as the hotel charges no change fee so far in advance of our stay (August; I reserved 4/20/2019. I realized that I had been scammed and called getaroom, talked with a different person, who said she could not waive the fee but offered a 10% discount on my bill. Getaroom had charged an extra $517.23 for "tax recovery charges and service fees." I said I wanted all my money back and said if they did not do this, I would file complaints with FTC, BBB, and online reviews and call my credit card company and cancel/dispute the charge. She would not accommodate, so I hung up and followed through. They don't get a dime! I tried to submit below my photo of receipt but it would not accept my jpg, png file, so I cannot
$41 room cost me 89$. Looked like direct website. I'm in contact with choice hotels to let them know I will not allow anyone in our companies to use choice hotels as long as they do business with scammer booking sites.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
