Very user friendly and was able to book hotel with little time
Getaroom goes by multiple names online, including GuestReservations.com. See images. It shows up on credit bills as CCI. I booked a Staybridge Suites 2 bedroom in May for July 4. The room was changed to a 1 bedroom and Getaroom would not guarantee a refund unless Staybridge agreed to the refund after refusing to give me the room I paid for. Getaroom "escalation team" never replied. After being told by Regina that I could get a refund after the escalation team tried to work on my case, I called back for the refund and Ingrid refused to refund, only offered to cancel and let me hang there in the wind and wait to see if Staybridge would refund them first. "You can talk to a manager, but the manager is going to give you the same information!" Getaroom books, Staybridge closes. Two crooked companies working together to defraud customers. Do not use either! Bait and switch, shady businesses!
UPDATE: I wrote this while on hold to speak to a manager. Not only did Ingrid not put a manager on, she came back to tell me the same thing again and then hung up on me.
UPDATE: Courtney called and has assured me I will be receiving a refund. I will not be changing my star rating, as this service was still abhorrent and I will not be using or recommending it to anyone ever again. Getaroom and Staybridge are a toxic pair and neither will receive my business again.
UPDATE: Received a second request from Getaroom to change my rating. Nope.
UPDATE: Karen has asked me to remove this review, as she feels I am not allowed to review them on more than one site. That's quaint. Google Getaroom Lawsuit and see their past behaviors.

New booking site for me - I've used them all because I travel a lot. Getaroom is easy and best of all, it was the only booking site that had the rooms I wanted. It was a last resort for me the first time; going forward it will be my first choice.

We booked a room for travel lodge, unwittingly through get a room, and found the added price too much. We then phoned round 3 different companies and found we couldn't cancel, with the blame passed around. However, after posting a negative review here, get a room got back to us and we've been told the booking is cancelled and are awaiting a full refund. All this within 48 hours.

Very similar to reviews here and on the BBBs website, this company spoofs addresses from google searches to look like the actual hotels website, they then charge a large fee in top of what you agree to and then of course says your room
is non refundable. After having to call the reservations line to even get a person on the line, they kept me on the line to only disconnect me 44 minutes later with the only offer of 10% which equaled $47 when they charged 164.94 additional above what I agreed to for the room rate. When I called the hotel confused trying to see why I was charged the extra fee, they explained that I was booked thru Priceline. Turns out this organization writes script to ride the coat tail of reputable booking engines relationships with hotel chains. Complete scam.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
