I had to cancel a reservation immediately after booking due to entering a wrong date and it has been a nightmare ever since. Please book any reservations you have directly with the hotel. They charged me $178 and have been telling not to contact the hotel to get approval for a refund. The hotel has no record of my initial reservation and has said that this company is just pocketing the money from my cancellation fee. It is a scam how they send you to the hotel in order to get refunded. Do not book with anyone but the hotel
This US-Site sneaks like a drone into the internet imitating true hotel sites and charging exorbitant rates plus debiting the charges immediately in true US-style whereas my German hotel would have charged be earliest one day before arrival allowing late cancellation. This site is clearly meant to cheat unsuspecting travellers and should be banned!
Because of a family emergency I had to cancel my trip but could not until 4 PM on the day of the cut off (which was at 10 AM). They charged me $500 for this. I also wanted to rebook for a later date but they would not allow it and ended up charging me $500 for the cancellation. The woman I spoke with was so rude throughout the conversation and I knew from the beginning they were not going to be helpful or understanding.
I had previously given a poor review for getaroom.com. I received a call from them to rectify the problem. The woman was kind and said they would reimburse me for the amount I was over charged for our room, with an explanation of how this happened. Very satisfied with how she resolved the problem.
I thought I was calling Econo Lodge in Rapid City, South Dakota. Was quoted a rate of 100.84. Upon getting to the motel they told me the rate was 63.75 and didn't why I was told it was 100.84. Come to find out my call went straight to Get A Room third party service. I would never intentionally use a third party! They said I accepted the rate over the phone and that is that! The motel told me these companies are very tricky about getting their phone numbers in hotel and motels websites. I feel cheated and defrauded. I will report them to the BBB. Don't know what else to do. They are scam artists!!
Booked a room via phone number as part of a wedding hotel block. The individual helping me could not understand or speak English well. Once we finally got it booked the bride sent out a link with the ability to book the hotel that way. I checked the rate with the link and it was OVER $100 CHEAPER. Therefore GetARoom didn't even book the room using the wedding block. Then when we called to cancel the room, the first employee hung up on me, then the second one informed GetARoom doesn't even apply wedding room block rates... yet the employee I spoke with when I booked the room stated that wedding room block rate was applied.
Do not use this company. I am not the only guest who had issues.
Charged almost $100 in booking charges on a 2-night stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Their Booking Fee wasn't disclosed until payment was made. Nearly impossible to reach a live person when wanting to cancel. The GetARoom.com Rep refused to cancel by stating that Holiday Inn Express does not allow for refunds on cancellations, when in fact it does with only a 24-hour notice... I was giving 3 weeks notice! Kept me on hold for 15 minutes while "confirming" the cancellation policy with Holiday Inn Express, then put me on hold another 5 minutes while their system generated my cancellation number. Horrible company to do business with. STAY AWAY!
Watch out they quote you an amount and say tax included and still sneak in a tax- recovery fee that was not even mentioned I call back to question the change and they stated that it's a fee that they have to pay to the hotel also they book you in hotels and when you get there they end up been ing motels dirty and disgusting. I will never again use this site!

We are travelling with another couple. They booked a room and the order was processed immediately. Our order was taking a very long time to process, over 15 minutes and still not done, so I entered my request a second time. This order processing was taking a long time as well and eventually I received 2 confirmations. I cancelled the first one and received confirmation of this immediately.
Hesitated at first because it reminded me of snap travel and they totally screwed me over with a reservation that was made by mistake and didn't want to give my money back even though EVERY other party was on board with the refund. Horrible experience, terrible customer service and greedy little armpit of a company, so yeah Hesitated for sure.
Not only was I directed to this booking tool via a deceptive google ad (shame on me, I guess), I was charged a $19.99 fee that was not disclosed (they say that them saying that "with taxes and fees" covers it, but the "fee" was to their platform, separate and on top of the standard hotel taxes and fees you normally get.
THEN, the total amount that they verbally told me over the phone increased by ~$8 when they actually charged me/sent me a receipt.
I will never use them again and I will be VERY careful next time I use a promoted link on google. Shame on you, "getaroom", or "reservatons.com" or whatever your company name is.

This is probably the worst experience I have ever had from a hotel reservation site. We booked a hotel in Cancun, Mexico using a deal we saw from getaroom on Trip Advisor last month. When we reached the hotel after landing at around 1am, we were shocked to know that the hotel had no clue about our booking as getaroom had not sent them any notification/ confirmation. Plus, we could not stay at the hotel, as they had no rooms available by then. We got to know from the hotel that a few more people who had made a booking from this site, faced the same issue a couple of days back. Their customer care was also of no help and we were stranded in the middle of the night as we had no where to go. It's been almost 3 weeks and even after repeatedly contacting their customer care, we have still not received the refund of the money that was already paid. This site should be just shut down immediately.
In thinking I was booking a room directly through the hotel site I was somehow redirected to this SCAM of a company! Upon completion of my reservation I noted the stated room price of $104 went to $148 due to bogus tax recovery charges and service fees. Directly after I contacted the horrible customer service department and was informed my card was already charged and absolutely no refunds! The owners of this company should be ashamed in literally stealing people's money! Please take my advice and DO NOT book through this unethical dishonest site!

All I wanted was to change my arrival by one day latter. After four or five different agents and several phone calls I finally reached an agent who decided to cancel and credit my reservation and make a new one and recharge my visa. I now have the correct reservation but not the visa credit, yet.

A room was booked on this site for what should have been 186.00 but an additional 75.00 was added at check out. I should have known better when Chase texted me asking if it was me and declined the charges at first until I was stupid enough to let them know yes it was me. The called to cancel the reservation within 3 minutes of it being made and was told it was a NON refundable purchase. And the info for that was posted- yes it sure was posted I could receive a full refund if I purchased the room 2 days ago. What a joke

Making the reservation was easy, but not complete. I selected a Junior Suite with two double beds but my receipt did not show that, I tried calling about the issue and was told I had to contact the hotel. I should not have to track down what was requested. I also sent emails with no reply.

Booked a 2-bedroom suite with 1 queen bed in each room. When the hotel confirmed my reservation, they put me in a 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds. Thankfully, I explained that I had booked a different room and they were able to put me in the suite I wanted. Not sure if this was a pure accident on getaroom's part or if they were advertising one thing and thinking the customer wouldn't mind something different and presumably cheaper for getaroom.com. But I got it resolved so not a huge deal, just make sure you verify the registration with the hotel asap after booking.
At first I was impressed with the rates they provided until changes needed to be made. I had five very difficult reservations and multiple changes in reservation#'s. When the trip was cancelled all together I called and cancelled all the reservation #'s I had and then asked them to be sure I did not have any other reservations, which to their response was that all my reservations were cancelled. Conveniently, the telephone conversation that this occurred on apparently did not get recorded and they still are trying to stiff me for the fee. All my reservations were cancelled, why would I still have this one when the people never arrived into the country? Been fighting them now for two months and and am ready to turn over to fraud department!
I too was quoted a room price of $154 "plus applicable taxes "which were not specifically stated. Then I got my bill and found a $74 charge for taxes and fees. I have contacted my credit card company and will be contacting the BBB. I am also letting the hotel know that should should not allow getaroom.com to handle room reservations for them.
The gentleman booked my rooms totally incorrectly and not one person would help me get it corrected. I requested a manager or supervisor and was told no one was around, which I know is a lie! Totally disrespectful!

I booked a room in NZ thru getaroom.com and subsequently had to cancel it. Whilst I had trouble making contact via phone, I had no trouble via email. They responded promptly and dealt with my issue efficiently. Mandy from Australia
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
