Like headaches? Book with Getaroom. Wanted to change my reservation by one day, not asking for a refund and they wanted to charge me $122! Um, no, I never agreed to that. I asked to speak to a manager. Ok, after 10 minutes on hold, they say they'll waive the fee. Oh, how nice of you. Can you change my reservation then? Sure. So, they change it and give me the same confirmation number from my original booking. What? Shouldn't it be a different number now? Can you email that me? Sure, I'll send it now, but it might take 3 hours to get there. I needed peace of mind so I had to call the hotel directly to make sure the changes actually happened. They sent me the email confirmation, with new numbers, by the way. That was 1 hour of my day. Gone. I'll never get that back.
Sounds great at first, call and make reservations for a good price- but God help you if you have to change the reservation, they won't make changes even a month in advance. I wanted to shorten my stay by one day and no help at all! I had to call the hotel myself and after over an hour final made the corrections, which get a room still can't reflect on their website! I spoke to Davia and asked for a supervisor to call me back, first Davia told me there was no supervisor and no supervisor ever called me back. This site is a joke DO NOT USE! These are very important reservations for basic training graduation at West Point, I was counting on this site to be able to provide reservations with the ability to modify (weeks before the event.)
After being disappointed with the service that I had originally received, customer service reached out and helped resolve the issue and took care of the matters at hand. Thank you for the good customer service.

Booked for around $160 and when I confirmed my purchase 5 minutes later, the price changed to $188. Felt like this was bait and switch. Since I was booking through my company card, I went ahead with the purchase, but I will definitely not come back to use this site.
My husband and I booked our hotel to Bermuda through getaroom.com. There had been a mistake in booking and they had us checking out a day early. When I had called customer service they were extremely unhelpful. I had been passed around from department to department. After explaining to a customer service representative for the 4th time that there had been a mistake and we would like to stay for one more night for the same rate; I was hung up on. Finally calling back again and getting through to a supervisor named Josephine she had explained to me that I can only have the room for one more night for triple the price I was already paying. Even our hotel agreed to honor the price I was originally paying if a representative from getaroom.com would confirm that. However Josephine the supervisor refused. I'm extremely unsatisfied with getaroom.com. I would not recommend anyone book through them.
Getaroom did a very nice job of making my situation right. I had some trouble with the website and my initial attempts to get my problem solved were quite frustrating. When I reached out a second time Getaroom made sure to make my situation right and helped me straighten out my issue.

The URL shows up on top in Bing as if it is the hotel's own site. Then you land on a page titled Guest Reservations. It's all slick and looks genuine, but I was too much in a hurry to compare and look closely at their outrageous fees. Now I feel bad about myself and hope the hotel is not going to treat me funny for being accosted by GetARoom. This is exactly what it feels like being molested. I also blame the search engine for accepting business from scammers like GetARoom.
We booked a hotel, and 15 minutes later when we arrived, we were literally greeted by a guy doing a drug deal in the lobby and a prostitute propositioning people. The hotel lobby was made out of old plywood, and the guy at the front "desk" was using his personal laptop to try checking us in. After that failed for a few minutes we asked if we could just cancel the booking, since he had a long line of freaky people waiting. He said no problem, the website would refund us.
Called them immediately after leaving the hotel, and they said that because I didn't get the guys name and title, they would charge me a $295 dollar cancelation fee. It has been less than 30 minutes since I booked!
Be very wary of this company. They shift blame to the hotel, which shifts blame to them, but at the end of the day, the getaroom scam is they charged the card, and refuse to provide any support or refunds.

Get a Room has a cute little charge they call a recovery fee. You don't really notice it until you've booked the hotel, made your credit card entry, and received a confirmation. THEN you see it! I thought I was booking through Trivago but apparently they utilize Get a Room.
I had an very good experience with this reservation. I usually book directly with the hotel but took a chance. I was very nervous since I never heard of this online company before. Everything went very well though. I had to change my dates and I was required to cancel and re-book, but the refund came through right away, I was able to get the same rate. I was so nervous that I checked with the hotel to make sure I had a reservation adn they gave me the option of a higher floor. Then when I checked in they upgraded me to ocean view! I've always heard these types of bookings get the worst rooms. Not for me. The main problem is that neither this booking web site, nor even the hotels web site alerted me to how much was closed due to remodeling. And how much construction was going on. A whole wing with a pool and restaurant is closed and the food options are limited. There are also ongoing elevator problems. Not good at Christmas time.
Really I cant believe that a company would refuse to refund a booking for a room during a national health crisis. The event we were going to attend was canceled due to the rising cases of the new virus that is sweeping our nation and this company is the biggest group of RIP offs that ever hit and will not refund my. Money. How dare you use a time of crisis to line your pockets. I will make sure that no I know ever uses your company and exactly how you take advantage of a world. Crisis to line your pockets.

I accidentally booked through get a room via the phone thinking I was booking through the hotel directly. I was charger $400 for a $180 room. When I called to have this issue resolved I was out on the phone with someone who was not a native English speak, therefore the communication was very poor! After asking for a supervisor several time the man told me to "watch my language or he will hang up"? And continued to refuse transferring me to a supervisor. After having my card charged for over $200 more than the valise of the room I had to go to my bank and disputed the charge since get a room decided "there was nothing they can do". This is an absolutely horrible website and you must beware even when calling the hotel directly because I was actually transferred to them when I thought I was calling the hotel. I don't understand how they are still in business!
I think you are better if you can to book at the hotel all else equal. If you book with them, be careful what you commit to with your booking and also check what the service charges are. I have to say though they did resolve the issue eventually, but it took quite a few calls. That is why I give 3 stars. Thanks for that.
We booked a room for travel lodge, unwittingly through get a room, and found the added price too much. We then phoned round 3 different companies and found we couldn't cancel, with the blame passed around. However, after posting a negative review here, get a room got back to us and we've been told the booking is cancelled and are awaiting a full refund. All this within 48 hours.

Long story short... and we should have known better when they got me to pay up front, but we wanted to get to the hotel before the storm ( Michael) started dropping rain on us.
Total hotel cost through GetARoom. $206.00
Actual cost had we bought direct... $146.00
And yes. Both figures included the taxes.
You got it...$60.00 more by using GetARoom.
And when we booked, we actually thought we were booking direct with Homewood Suites.
(Not trying to be a total crybaby, we called them to have a chat, but after holding for a little over 20 minutes waiting on a supervisor to pick up, we hung up.
So, shame on me for being in a hurry. But shame on GetARoom for answering the phone with hotel reservations', and then sticking it to us.
So here is the fact... if you want to pay more for your hotel room, please call GetARoom.
Just booked a room for the end of September at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans thru agent Marcia who was charming, efficient and very helpful. Actually, 5 other friends have also booked thru Getaroom.com for that weekend so I certainly hope the rest of the experience will be as good as booking with Marcia was. If not I will certainly post it here.
Do not ever do business with this company. They are an absolute scam. They mimic the original hotel site and then you end up on their page. The have a no cancellation policy even if you want to a month before the trip. This is a bad faith company that will charge you unnecessary fees. The are disgusting, money hungry, deceptive, and not to be trusted. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. I have an email I'm which I attempted to cancel and they said that I did not make an attempt. Do not use this company.

Do not book with this company. They charged me twice saying I had booked two reservations which I didn't. I could not prove this as the person I spoke to never sent me confirmation. She could barely speak English and I had to repeat everything multiple times. They were no help when I tried to dispute the second charge. BAD Company.

I Inadvertently booked a room for! Person instead of two. I noticed this straight away and contacted them, they were unable or unwilling to change the booking. This will now cost me to cancel unless the hotel direct will help. It"s far removed from Hotels.com who actually contacted me to refund me for a room that wasn't used as someone cancelled due to illness.

For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
