RIP OFF -

This company hijacks your reservations by spoofing actual hotel websites, confusing consumers into making reservations through them. Price is insanely high, and no receipt. When you call it's a loop of number pushing with no live body. This should be illegal!

Misled and cheated

First of all, I didn't even realize I was dealing with an outside company to make my reservation, so was very surprised to see a strange fee attached to my receipt that amounted to about an extra 3-nights of stay at the hotel I booked! Yes, almost $152 extra for the booking! "Tax recovery and service fees" it says, which is quite a clever scam, indeed. On top of this, we did not even get an accessible room with bathroom grab bars as was promised. Overall, feeling very disappointed and cheated by this experience. At least I realize I'm not the only one scammed... but, as you might imagine, I sure would like to "recover" my excess payment!

Total SCAM

Last time I checked the definition of fraud was wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain. This EXACTLY describes what getaroom did. I travel multiple times a month for work and had no idea that I was not on the Radisson Blu website. That is, not until weeks later when I got my credit card statement. I booked one night at the Radisson because it was close to my client and my usual hotel was full. My emailed receipt was for $287.98. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I get my credit card statement with a charge of $454.84 from CCI*HOTEL RES. It's not until I am in the midst of disputing the charge that I find out CCI is not even the Radisson but a third party called getaroom. Initially I disputed $166.86 of the charge thinking that the Radisson had made a mistake. Come to hear from my credit card company that this scam company says that I agreed to this fee when booking on their site. I did not even know I was not on the Radisson Blu website! Saying I agreed to a 50% surcharge is equalivent to saying I signed a waiver that says it's ok to rob me. Why is this scam company still in business? BEWARE!

I booked two rooms online. I was unknowingly redirected from the hotels website to this horrible company! After booking the rooms (which were not listed as non-refundable only that hotel cancellation policies apply), I almost immediately received notification that my credit card had been charged nearly twice the amount of the quoted price. I then received a "receipt" from getaroom.com. They charged an exorbitant "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees" to which I have been unable to get a clear definition on. Considering most hotel taxes run around 8 to 12 percent, nearly $110 on two $120 rooms is excessive. When I arrived at the hotel to try and split the rooms between me and my coworker, I was told it was a "confidential " rate and that they could not touch it. I called getaroom.com customer service line (but let's be real, customer service is not something they are interested in), and of course hey we're ZERO help. So now I'm stuck with an excessive charge for two rooms, no detailed receipt as to what these charges entail, and trying to explain it to my expense report auditors! DO NOT USE THIS SITE PURPOSELY: AND BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL BOOKING ONLINE, THEY CLONE HOTEL WEBSITES!

Scam

I booked my room directly through my hotel as I always do, somehow I was picked up by this third party scammer get a room. They pretended to be the hotel. I pre paid $1563. 49 for a suite with a kitchen. I needed this because my husband was scheduled for a life saving open heart surgery for a terminal condition. It was very high risk. I got to hotel and only received a basic room. They told me that's what my reservation was for and that they were only paid $1094. There was nothing they could do they said because I booked through third party. I was shocked. I had stayed at this hotel several times before. Why would I use a third party. Because I was so stressed about the surgery I just let it go. When I checked out early because my husband did so well. I was told I would be refunded the money through the third party. My total stay cost $590.55. They refunded this company for my early check out. I finally found out who this company was through several calls. I requested my refund and they told me they would look into it. The next day I received an email stating no refund for early check outs. But they received the refund. They didn't even address the fact that I didn't get the room I paid for. They lied to me in the beginning and told me if I cancelled or checked out early I would only be charged a fee of $12.99 which they charged me anyway in addition to the $1563. The hotel refused to give me an invoice because I went through a third party. They said they would give it to me which they didn't. So I had clerk write down my charges. Get a room stole $972.94 from me. I'm currently disputing this through my bank. They should be charged for fraud after all the complaints I've read. This is clearly illegal.

DO NOT USE GETAROOM.COM UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY 200% MORE THAN WHAT THE ROOM COSTS. THEN YOU GET TO THE HOTEL AND THEY DONT EVEN HAVE YOUR ROOM BOOKED OR SHOWN PAID IN FULL. I HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR TO GET MY ROOM. THEN THE SECOND NIGHT IN I HAD THEM KNOCKING ON MY DOOR AGAIN SAYING THEY DIDNT HAVE A CREDIT CARD ON FILE AND THEY NEEDED MY INFORMATION AGAIN. THIS WAS COMPLETE BULL$#*!! I AM SO UNSATISFIED WITH THIS SITE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE HOTEL MANAGER EVEN SPOKE TO THE LADY ON THE PHONE AND ASKED WHY I WAS BEING CHARGED MORE THAN $100 MORE THAN WHAT THE ROOM COSTS PER NIGHT. THE LADY ON THE PHONE WOULDNT ALLOW ME TO CANCEL MY RESERVATIONS AND REFUND MY MONEY. I WILL NEVER USE THIS SITE AGAIN AND I AM GOING TO FIND EVERY SITE I CAN AND POST A REVIEW TO LET EVERYONE KNOW NOT TO USE THIS SITE.

STAY AWAY

Made reservations thru getaroom for a hotel in Las Vegas for a total 253.12 dollars which was ok, but when checking out I was told there was a balance of 47.44 dollars Resort fee that was not added in the amount of the getaroom quote. Tried to contact getaroom but was given the run around the girl just kept reading and repeating a answer from a manual. THERE ARE BETTER ROOM RESERVATION SITES ON THE INTERNET

I thought I was making a reservation on Trip Advisor but it turns out it was with getaroom. This company is either shady or stupid. There was a mix-up with my reservation at a Hampton Inn in Springfield, Missouri. I MAY have made my reservation at a different Hamton Inn. I'm still not convinced I did. Because in the process of two completely unsatisfactory 20 minute calls to getaroom, they claimed at one point that I made my reservation at some other hotel I never even heard of. Then there appeared to be a mix up over the date. The whole thing was a confusing mess.

At any rate, I had prepaid my reservation. So not only was there no reservation at the Hampton Inn where I stayed and I paid a higher rate, but getaroom insisted I pay for the first night at the hotel I did not stay at or (knowingly) make a reservation at. When I protested they insisted that the one night charge would stand. When I called my credit card company they said that I was still being charged for all 3 nights!

I now have a call in to a TripAdvisor Site Supervisor to discuss why they would allow themselves to be associated with an online booking service MORE THAN HALF of whose ratings contain a single star - the lowest possible rating. I was told by a person at TripAdvisor that it is the hotels who choose their booking services. So I also have a call in to Hampton Inn. I also plan to contact the Better Business Bureau as other reviewers have done. This so called 'service' should be shut down. I am a retired schoolteacher and I am not giving up. This sort of dishonesty is a crime. And these people should be punished for fraud.

Buyer beware - They have a very slick reservation site that looks like the hotels. IT IS NOT. Buy booking through getaroom.com you lose your ability to modify or cancel your reservation without paying a nights stay.

Pretty sure getaroom.com will see a class action lawsuit for this. Protect the customer

There isn't enough room to tell you all the stress that they have caused. One day before we leave to drive out on motorcycles to the biggest motorcycle event in the country. They did not make the reservation with my correct information. This caused the location to say they did not have our reservation, even though we had paid six monthes in advance. I was on the phone for over two hours trying to get this taken care of and still no resolution on getaroom's part. I call the location and thankfully they said that they are waiting still for the getaroom people to fix it, but they will make it right.
Wait times to speak to someone because I had already made a reservation said 2 mins or less. I infact at one point waited over 20 mins before I hung up. I spoke to a supervisor she said she would call back within the hour, she did not follow through. This is just a small example of the already stressfull day before we leave on our trip. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

THEY LIE

I am one very Unsatisfied customer Ibooked my reservations THREW yall for a motel room once I got to my room they re-charge my card. They said yall didnt you say they did this needs to be fixed ASAP Ill book the room through yall not be home so it needs to be fixed. I would never in my life recommend my worst enemy to go to your company to rent a room or anything else. I have talk to yall for five times since Friday saying oh phone. BE WARNED~
I inadvertently booked my hotel through this site and as I am a Canadian they charged me in Canadian dollars. I realized too late that they charged me twice what they should have. Upon confronting them, they offered a 10% reduction and told me that I should have booked directly with the hotel. Cute!
Fool me once but NEVER again.

Misleading Fees
July 26, 2018

Booked a room for 3 nights. Getaroom confirmation shows cost per room and states that fees are for taxes, etc... and booking fees. This is not accurate. The hotel clerk didn't know the reservation was prepaid and accidentally charged me the full amount of $390.72. An odd amount since the amount I prepaid Getaroom was $587.30 for that exact same reservation. The hotel quickly credited me but when I questioned rate difference the hotel said we only know what we get paid from them. As it turns out the extra 40% ($196.58) was not for hotel or resort fees as the language on the reservation confirmations mislead you to believe. As it turns out they charged me a fee of $196.58 to book a $390.72 reservation. I have filed a compliant with the Better Business Bureau and will be booking direct from now on.

Sounds great at first, call and make reservations for a good price- but God help you if you have to change the reservation, they won't make changes even a month in advance. I wanted to shorten my stay by one day and no help at all! I had to call the hotel myself and after over an hour final made the corrections, which get a room still can't reflect on their website! I spoke to Davia and asked for a supervisor to call me back, first Davia told me there was no supervisor and no supervisor ever called me back. This site is a joke DO NOT USE! These are very important reservations for basic training graduation at West Point, I was counting on this site to be able to provide reservations with the ability to modify (weeks before the event.)

My sons and I planned a trip for my birthday weekend next weekend. We bought the tickets for two hotel rooms, I did not know we were going through Get A Room but today, my son was cancelling another trip that we had planned later on down the road and accidentally cancelled these two rooms instead. Once i received the emails, I called them immediately and told them it was a mistake and they said too bad, there is nothing that can be done. I said you can't reinstate it, they said no. I dont understand it, so now I am out $300 and cant even go on the trip we planned. Horrible, Horrible.

On 7/12 I made a reservation for the Reno Hyatt at the Reno-Tahoe Airport. Nice hotel; lovely staff. I had called what I thought was the Hyatt directly, from the Salt Lake City Airport, with a lot of background noise. They quoted me a price of $199./night plus tax. I must not have heard THAT additional amount of $74.12 because I would NOT have approved it. Perhaps the rep did not speak clearly?. My credit card was billed $274.12. GetARoom has agreed to refund ALL of the extra fees BECAUSE OF MY SITEJABBER REVIEW. GetARoom has shown integrity. I appreciate this. I have written to them asking them to have their agents identify themselves as NOT the hotel.

Confusing web site caused room to be booked in the right town but wrong state. I called GetARoom within seconds after the booking notice. No agents available. Confusing menu. Finally got through only to be told there was nothing they could do. They simply reference their multi-page terms and conditions. Stay away it is not worth the few dollars saved.

Scam!
July 24, 2018

5 charges of over $500 each were charged to my visa from this guy trying to get me a room! He didn't just check if there were any availability, he charged each time! Then he insisted on this dump hotel and would not stop with my phone call. I accepted the hotel just to get off the phone nicely and then cancelled online as soon as I got off the phone. After checkign my Visa, there were 5 charges! All but one came off and this final one they refused to take off because they said it was non-refunbable. I dont know about the average Joe out there, but I never take rooms that are non-refundable. There are always others! This guy never spoke the words that it was non-refundable. STAY AWAY!

UPDATE: Finally got a refund July 19th (almost a month later)! Thanks to Sitejabber and PayPal!

Terrible!
July 24, 2018

Awful! They guaranteed a room with a balcony over the phone but the email confirmation they sent was for a room without a balcony. They would not change the reservation so we had to cancel and rebook through the hotel. They claimed a no cancellation policy and would not issue a refund. Never use this company to book a hotel room, they are engaging in fraud! We ordered an apple, they delivered an orange and kept almost $700.
